Dan Ferris

After living here for 2 years, I have found it nearly impossible to find a hair stylist/​colorist in LA/​West Hollywood that can work with my budget.
Dan was recommended to me by a friend who’s been getting her hair done by him for years. I took the plunge and couldn’t be happier that I did.
Dan is professional, SUCH a sweetheart, a great conversationalist, and fantastic with hair.
** The conversationalist part being important as I have TONS of hair, therefore most of my visits last a minimum of 1.5 hours.
Dan helped me salvage my hair after several bleach treatments with a hearty trim and conditioning treatment. I will be visiting again this Thursday for my first highlight with him.
**As a client with long hair** Dan was all accepting and eager to work with me when I’ve often found colorists/​stylists to specifically avoid clients with long hair because of the extra work.

Dan is truly as good as it gets! I walked in and was greeted warmly. The salon was immaculate. We briefly discussed my hair and what I wanted it to look like… and then Dan made it happen! He’s an expert and a class act; immensely talented and totally adept, reasonably priced, gracious and congenial. The man knows how to cut hair and how to make it look great! He made it look great and I get all the compliments!

So let’s add SUPER ACCOMPLISHED and RIDICULOUSLY MODEST to the list of Dan’s fine qualities. I have been going to him for years and it wasn’t till the other day that I found out (I had to ask) that he has done the hair not only of Jennifer Tilly and Demi Moore but also Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep. In photo shoots for Vogue magazine, runway shows etc.
This is crazy. If Dan had even a trace of the self promoting chutzpah of most Hollywood hairdressers he would be charging three times as much and be booked solid for the next few months. Fortunately (for us) (if not for him) he is too humble for that.

I just realized I have been seeing Dan for all my hair styling needs for 10 years now… so this review is wayyy overdue! He has a great little studio on Beverly all to himself so all of his attention is focused on you, not distracted by other stylists/​people buzzing around. Dan only uses organic hair care products and 95% organic on his coloring products which is so important these days. I absolutely adore my haircuts from Dan and always get kudos on my do everywhere I go. He has a knack for knowing how my hair works, what’s the best angle it should be cut to compliment the frame of my face. Dan is simply amazing at what he does AND he’s also a great guy. I enjoy my time sitting in the chair just catching up with him, it feels like I’m visiting a friend while getting my hair done at the same time :). I’ve recommended a couple friends now to get their hair done by Dan and now they love him too. Go see Dan, you won’t regret it!

I’ve seen Dan Ferris for a hair cut/​color a few times now — and he truly delivers on natural colors and highlights that really pop. He’s also fantastic in creating a hair cut that matches your style. He’s a great find, I’m glad he was recommended to me! Even if you don’t know what you’re looking for (which was me!), he will definitely guide you and give you great suggestions. I can’t recommend him enough!

Dan Ferris has exquisite taste and consummate skills with hair. My hair is challenging but Dan always gives me a great cut that follows the natural lie of my hair so I just towel dry and I’m good to go.
My female friends tell me that he is a color and cut genius. His highlights are naturalistic and his colors are beautiful.
