History

Established in 2015.

Cofounder and creative impetus behind two trailblazing magazines, Detour and Flaunt, Jim Turner, has, after nearly two decades spent in front of a computer monitor – spinning the two-dimensional web of fashion and celebrity that is the hallmark of both publications – opened a new store called DLUXX on Highland Avenue. The Hollywood Zeitgeist figures heavily in all of Turner’s projects: Detour and its successor, Flaunt, were predicated on a burgeoning celebrity culture that shows no signs of abating, while DLUXX resembles what one might expect to find if one looted the prop houses of studio-era MGM, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Like that company whose slogan is «We don’t make a lot of the products you buy. We make a lot of the products you buy better,» Turner has a certain touch, like Midas, and nothing he puts his hand to is ever quite the same. The gold-leafed trashcan with butterfly appliques, perfectly exemplify Turner’s quirky and original sense of design.
