Out and about for a work meeting with my co-​workers, and before heading back to the valley we stopped here for lunch.
I’ve had ramen before but it didn’t taste anything like this place, this place was actual really good for being on the aide of a busy street.
I got the miso soup (white), vegetarian style. Noodles were soft and soup was hot when it came too you. **You have to ask for the vegetarian option if you want something that is meat based.

I wasn’t even hungry and I finished my bowl of Red Miso Ramen. So it was pretty good. Noodles were not too mushy. Soup was not too salty, but flavorful. For me, I’d say it ranks in the top 5 out of the 10+ ramen shops in the Sawtelle/​Olympic area (Little Osaka). If you’re in the mood for ramen that is not too salty and not too rich and not too big, this is the place. Don’t expect super rich ramen like Tsujita or Daikokuya.
Service is good, and you don’t have to wait in line for a seat. This place would probably get more customers if it was located in the middle of Sawtelle instead of a few blocks down Olympic.

This place use to be Ramenya. Their ramen is not bad. I had the TanTan Ramen which is egg drop soup ramen. In comparison to Ramenya, Ramenya had a better TanTan Ramen. It wasn’t bad but just had better. We also had the Seafood Ramen. It tasted like seafood. The broth had no flavor. Both dishes were a tad bit oily. The noodle did not blend well with the broth. Usually any noodle soup dish, the noodle and broth blended together. This was not the case. It was like the noodle was cooked in plain water and then just added to the broth and served.
The service was wonderful though. If it wasn’t for the nice lady that serve us, I would have given this place a 2 star.

I used to come to this location when it was Ramenya. I really liked Ramenya because their soup stock was really flavorful. Dosanko is authentic, perfectly acceptable ramen.
Service: Five stars. The waitress was very attentive and very nice.
Food:
Shio Seafood Butter Ramen: Okay. The seafood flavor is supposed to be mixed in with the butter (shrimp and scallop), but I didn’t taste much of it. The broth was okay. There was nothing upsetting about this dish, but nothing outstanding, either. The Shio Ramen here is definitely more flavorful than I’ve tried other places in LA. TBH I’m more of a tonkotsu girl, and there are only 2 bowls of shio ramen that have ever given me the foodie fireworks. They were both in Japan.
Gyouza: DELICIOUS
Chashu Bowl: Delicious.
Fried Rice: Pretty good. Not too out of the ordinary.
In short, they have perfectly good ramen here. Nothing really outstanding, but nothing bad, either. The service is excellent.

Best shoyu ramen in the Sawtelle Japantown area. Perfect broth. The lunch set price which includes ramen, drink and a side is reasonable. It’s not as crowded as the other Sawtelle Japantwon ramen places (probably because of location on Olympic). I would definitely come here again.

I used to go to Dosanko when they were in New York (a chain in Japan). I like their ramen because it’s a «lighter»
broth (Tokyo style) than Tatsu or Daikokuya. The noodles are al dente and springy. I usually order their red miso ramen, so good! I tried their shio butter ramen today, which was not as flavorful.

We love it! We found this place by accident. We couldn’t find parking where restaurant row is and ended up here. We couldn’t be happier the ramen noodles are the best. We love the mabo tofu too. The spicy makes you sweat. Any time we ate on the west side we stop in.

2 stars because the waitress was really nice and attentive. I had the seafood butter, my brother had seafood soup. Noodles are gummy, broth is like salt water, pork is dry and tastes old, egg is just a hard boiled egg cut in half. Tea comes instead of water, but tea tastes like someone brewed in a coffee pot without cleaning it. Bro found sand veins in his shrimp. We both ate like 5 bites and done. Only good thing was the service and the décor. Which made me laugh.

My parents and I really liked this place! We ordered the white miso Raman, spicy red miso Raman and a veggie Raman all with chicken broth! Delicious! We ate during happy hour, so we each received 4 free pork Gyoza (pot stickers), which were yummy. My dad, who doesn’t really like Raman, loved his white miso Raman soup. My mom and I were surprised when he actually said «Mmmmm» — which he only does when he really likes something. The barley tea was also very tasty.

Extremely bland. Red miso ramen broth had zero depth and no miso flavor at all. It seriously tasted like water. Noodles were overcooked and chashu was cold.
The side of fried rice had no flavor either. It may as well have been white rice.
Service was very polite, but they weren’t able to split our bill evenly for some reason.
Given the number of legit ramen places a few blocks down on Sawtelle, there is literally no reason to go here.

I was so sad to find out my regular ramen place moved to south bay and instead, this new place took the location. The ramen isn’t bad really but just aired on salty side and was missing in-​depth flavor. Still good noodles though and I wish they would eventually improve their broth. The interior was nicer and newer than before but it was the same little, very few seats situation.

I tried this place with my boyfriend, and it was okay at best.
He ordered a red miso deluxe and I ordered a white miso regular, then we also ordered some gyoza to share. The difference between deluxe and regular is you get an extra egg, and some extra meat. I think that’s about it?
The broth was pretty good, but the noodles didn’t soak up any flavor. Without having a spoon full of soup with everything, you couldn’t taste anything. I added a ton of chili powder and chili oil add some extra flavor to my meal, which helped. Overall he ramen was okay, and the Gyoza was good. The Gyoza is definitely store bought, possibly even from Costco in bulk. It looks like the small frozen potstickers from any generic store. You get 4 for $ 4 or 6 for $ 4.95., not really worth it for store bought food.
The server we had was really nice, he was probably the best thing there. We ate there around 6pm on a weekday, and we were the only people there the whole time.
The food was decent, but for the price $ 10 regular and $ 13-​$ 14 deluxe, I would definitely go somewhere else. I didn’t dislike the place, but I won’t be going back.

Generic, overly salty broth, basically just average. Place is boring, music was completely unimaginative classic rock that I’ve heard a thousand times too many already. Service was good. I will only go there if there’s nowhere else open nearby.
At least fix the broth! I had the white ramen but initially tried the red which was really salty so that’s why I chose the white. Too salty, still have that too salty sensation 20 minutes later.
I’ll wait a few weeks then try it again and see if they fixed the broth! Will let you know…

What happened to Ramenya?! Sure, their ramen was a bit on the creative side but I kinda prefer that than Dosanko. I am not sure what to think of their ramen. It’s not bad but not great either.
The broth is good, maybe a tad saltier than I’d like.
The egg is soft-​boiled, which I like. But not marinated (which I don’t mind, since it kinda balanced the salty soup).
The chashu was lukewarm, partially tough and partially tender. I had to dunk it into the soup a few times to get it going.
The noodles are too chewy for me, almost reminded me of Shirataki (yam) noodles. Do not like.
Perhaps the most depressing thing about this place is probably the interior and the staff. Big canvas explaining who they are, where they come from, how they have thousands of locations, but seriously, the place feels more like a neglected outpost that the mothership has forgotten. And it actually took me a while to find out what the restaurant is called. I don’t think there is a signage outside, only a banner that says Ramen, maybe they are working on it?

Went there looking for the trusted Ramen-​Ya only to find a hipper version of it. New everything: new owner, new cook, new wait staff, new decoration, and the smell of fresh paint still in the air.
I was a bit shocked because I was looking forward to Ramen-Ya’s Tan-​Tan-​Men, but to be fair, the Spicy Miso Ramen I got instead was really, really good, with a delicate broth and interesting ingredients (ground pork, corn, black sesame). The egg noodles were perfect, and the only downside was that the soft-​boiled egg was way too cold.
More expensive and smaller portions than Ramen-​Ya, but good quality Ramen that I might come back for after the paint smell disappears.

The good news:
So I came here expecting to try Ramenya for the first time, but it turns out they closed, and now Dosanko has taken its place. My favorite part of the meal was not the ramen, but the pork gyoza because it was cooked perfectly (slightly crispy, but still perfectly tender) and they weren’t teeny like some other places! I also like that they give you barley water (but not with refills?), and the service was decent. They’ve been open for less than a week though, so I’m sure they’re getting the hang of it.
The bad news:
The ramen was just alright, and that’s what I expected once I saw how the ramen came out. The white miso broth is decent, but my bf got the spicy miso and it wasn’t spicy at all and the broth was pretty bland. I don’t like how they add ground beef to the mix to make up for the one sad piece of chasu that comes with the ramen (unless you get Deluxe). And why do I only get one half of an egg? :(The noodles were cooked well though, and there was a lot of it! The price for a bowl without adding anything extra is a bit steep ($ 9 – 13). It’s also a pretty small place with décor that is nothing too exciting. Overall everything was just «okay», it’s hard when there’s a lot of other ramen places nearby especially on Sawtelle.
