Maybe it’s hard to tell but the Eagle Rock Yacht Club is more than just a couple of guys with pretty faces and a questionable sense of humor; We’re a Dodgeball League… Wait, no. …We’re a volunteer organization. Err… no. See, we’re really a social club. Nope, that’s not right either. The truth is we’re all of these things and a little bit more.

We’re a growing group that believe in the power of being social. Our goal is to use the internet to help people get off the internet. We want to make some new friends and share new experiences while supporting local businesses and doing some good for our community.

Hikes, city park BBQs, bike rides, charity events, camping trips, dodgeball and anything else we can come up with, are a few of the activities our members have to choose from. Just get up off that couch, put down the black nail polish and come have some good old, new-​fashioned fun.

OMG! My life has never been soooooo flip’in fun! Dodgeball is addicting. I love the competition and winning, but more importantly, the league is about having fun. You’ll meet a lot of new people who are interested in socializing while getting some narley exercise. There is a range of skill and athletic levels, from those who were always picked last in junior high to the super jock. So if you’re contemplating playing, don’t be afraid to try out the league. I guarantee you will have A LOT OF FUN! I can’t wait to play and now play like 4 nights a week… addicted… yes addicted.

Dodgeball is so freaking addicting it’s probably outlawed in at least 10 countries, lol! I got to this league from my friend Mikey L and I have been hooked ever since. The Tuesday night NoHo crew are fun, competitive, and welcoming. Seriously, this is like the next big «IT» sport and if you’re in the kind of crazy fun-​loving league as ERYC, you’ll see why!

Its adult co-​ed dodgeball. There are no refs (we are adults and no one wants to be known as being a cheating «Richard» in society). Teams are randomly picked. there is a local watering hole after game play. What more can you ask for.
I’ve been playing in the Westside Venice league and have to say its been nothing but great… Awesome times. Its not like other co-​ed adult leagues where its all click-​ish, but a large sociable, networking organization that gives back to the community as well as giving its members the chance to partake in good deeds.

My buddy Tim got me into this. We had been scheduling erratic Dogeball games amongst our friend sfor some time, but when we discovered that there was a semi organized league, well…awesome.
There are a lot of differnt people who come out to play in this league, and I have to say, most if not all of them are pretty awesome. The League is not to aggresive. There are some awesome players but no one goes crazy. One of the main Rules is «Don’t be a Dick!» The League aslo helps out with the Boys and Girls club, so it’s like I’m helping society while I’m throwing things as hard as I can…which is pretty much the opposite of my everyday life.
There are Leagues in Venice, Eagle Rock and North Hollywood.
Afterwards, a lot of people go out drinking. On a weeknight! How scandalous! I am one of those people.
All in all awesomeness. Couldn’t be happier. It’s dodgeball!

So much fun! A great way to be active and get excersise and meet new peeps. Some other dodgeball team are WAY competitive, so it kind of takes the fun out of it, but so far ERYC teams are just out to have fun (yes, win, still, but if they don’t win it’s not some crazy big deal).
Come if you want to be active, have fun and meet new people. Don’t come if you have an attitude or take things too seriously.

I just finished playing the summer league and it was one of the most fun things I have ever done in my life. The fall season starts on September 15th and I’m in. My only regret is not drinking enough at the Verdugo Room after the games, but I vow to correct this oversight this season.
The dickhead factor in this league is extremely low, so that’s a real bonus. No refs — we use the honour system (note the Canadian spelling). There are plenty of Bettys who play and the sexual tension is off the charts! A good place to meet someone, indeed.
It doesn’t matter how well you play — you will get better almost instantly.
Also — all hail Golden Girls — league and cross-​city champions!!! I have a ball and YOU’RE OUT!!!

This is the BEST!!! Granted they paid me to say that, but no really in all sincerity this the first time I have been allowed to be a part of the cool kids!!! And I am soo not cool. Super friendly people. A surprisingly good workout. And drinking after helps to get to know others quite quickly… So whatcha waiting for… Stop by and say hey…

It’s dodgeball, yet it’s so much more. Any jackass can start a dodgeball league (and they have), but these guys have made it a great social experience to go along with some good old fashioned dodgeball.
I didn’t know what to expect my first game, and other than the fact that I pulled about three muscles and threw my arm out, I had a great time. Everyone in the League is super friendly and welcoming, and everyone treats everyone else with respect. No douchebag meat heads in this league. If that describes you, you should probably go play somewhere else. (and not be such a douchebag).
So come to one of the open gyms, bring your friends, and I promise you’ll be back for more.

Dodgeball is waaay better than crack cocaine! The sport and the awesome people have drastically improved my quality of life since I started playing in the Westside/​Venice league. I think there are few activities where you can lack crucial skills for the game (throwing, catching, dodging, running) yet still feel WONDERFUL about yourself afterward. Craig and Chris are super fun and friendly and just try to make sure everyone is having a good time, maybe meeting new people and getting some ass.
I was a little apprehensive about joining the league by myself (my friends were LAME) but it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. Any man who is skilled at dodgeball is equipped to usher in world peace, stop world hunger, and make my heart palpitate.

as much as i was traumatized by gym class (and evil gym teachers), i don’t remember playing dodge ball in elementary school or in middle school or on the playground. as an adult, i began to feel slightly less than my peers given i missed out on the terror of rubber balls being slung at me as a kid and decided this hole in my upbringing really needed to be filled.
and it has been filled by the game courtesy of the eagle rock yacht club (eryc). the emphasis on fun and healthy competition is a welcome relief from my over-​competitive adult recreational soccer leagues where red cards, jersey tugging, punches to the back and shit talking are executed as if we were playing for the world cup.
but, back to dodge ball. participating has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. the focus on positive socialization reminds us that good sportsmanlike behavior is appreciated on and off the dodge ball court.
ps. if my mom can play (and she did), you can play too.

I came. I saw. I dodged.
The players are great people, one and all, and the skills are wildly varied, so nobody feels like a complete loser. It’s a great workout, too, if you’re really playing to win. My legs were sore for a week after my first game, but that’s that good, «I just kicked some ass» pain.
By the end of the hour of play, I’m always wishing for more [balls]. Lucky for me, I forget all about my bloodlust on the court with ample pints of beer with the gang.
The only thing that could make E.R.Y.C. Dodgeball even better would be drinking before the game, too. I’d love to see the havoc ensue then! Of course, satiating my alcoholism isn’t really the point.
It’s about balls.

A small gathering of friendly people that has grown into a bigger group of close friends. Regardless of skill level, there’s always a place for anyone to feel right at home running around in fear. An even mix of gals and guys who talk about getting hit in the face over drinks at Little Cave after each game. Drink special every Tuesday for dodgeball players and wicked 80’s tunes spun by Dj Caroline. You really can’t go wrong. Donation of $ 5 cover costs to rent out the gym. Gym and bar are blocks away; HEAVEN on earth! but check it out for your self!
