143 moved here and the venue is much bigger but the hype is too real here. We arrived around 10:30pm and didn’t get to go in until around 12am. The club closed at 2:00 so we only had 2 hours to dance… The line was so ridiculous… A lot of people left to other clubs but I really wanted to see how 143 was and listen to the r&b I was promised haha. The drinks were overpriced ($ 17 for an AMF) but I will say it was a lot more spacious then normal LA clubs. However there was a water leak from above. They need to do more renovations to this location and book better Djs. Still had a good time despite this.
Tip: get there early around 8:30pm-9pm and you won’t have to wait so long and miss the good Djs

My co-​worker invited me here and it is also close to where I live. The venue is cool but we came to an industrial/​gothic rock night. We had been to the Satellite in Silverlake and really enjoyed the venue and bands playing so we assumed it’d be a similar experience. Although I do enjoy some industrial metal, the bands playing were a bit intense and it was pretty empty – I think I counted 8 people including my co-​worker and I. However, I did like the layout, the Gary Numan intermission and the fairly priced drinks.

Okay so i saw a band called Craft Spells awhile ago with a friend.
Don’t get me wrong its a good venue but the staff wasn’t. After the show was over, my friend
and i were still inside waiting for our ride. We were waiting inside cause it was cold and dark outside. Clearly the staff was trying to get everyone to leave. A tall black man approach us and told us to leave. We told him that we just needed 5 more minutes until our ride was hear. He just stood there and rudely said that we needed to «leave now». My friend and i just stared at him, like, dude we just need 5 more minutes. Plus, there was still a couple of people inside. It wasn’t just the two of us & the show barely ended like 10 minutes ago. Its not like we were in there for a very long time since the show ended. Anyways, he stood there looking at us popping his eyeballs out and making a face expression that we needed to leave. He was being so scary that my friend and i rather wait those 5 minutes outside then be in the same building as him. Never have i met a staff or security w. e he was be so rude. Especially, if we just needed a couple more minutes to wait for our ride. It wasn’t like we needed an hr.

This place is a joke. I bought tickets on Friday December 18^th for the emo night with Mark Hoppus DJing. Echoplex didn’t post anything about Mark Hoppus cancelling. I never would have bought my ticket that night if I had known. They have been known to put established artist on their flyer knowing they aren’t really booked. Their emo night was just filled with hipster pop crap. They have my money now that’s all they wanted the booker doesn’t care about the musician or the fans as long as their pockets stay fat with your money.

I came here for the first time in the summer to see Jamie xx and I absolutely love this venue! It’s a lot smaller than other places, but it has a really nice, intimate feeling. I came back a few months later with my cousin for one the emo nights they put on and that was amazing. We had a great time and absolutely loved the music they played. Overall it’s a great venue!

Love coming here for shows and other special weekly or monthly events. The drinks are always cheap and not over priced like ant other bar or club you run into LA or Hollywood. I give this venue two thumbs up.

One Tuesday night in November, my friend June K. texted me to ask if I wanted to go to a thing called Emo Night, which was taking place at the Echoplex even as I texted her, «Like now now?» It was already past 11 and I am, as a rule, pretty lazy about leaving the house to do high-​energy things. But June being one of my best friends, I decided to be spontaneous, and I met her at her house to make the late night walk through Echo Park to go to this thing I knew nothing about.
The walks to and back were a great part of the experience, actually. Because there was something going on at the Echoplex, we saw a lot of emo-​looking people milling about Sunset. I liked that the show and the venue telegraphed some of its characters into the surrounding streets. I’d also never taken the stairs down from Sunset to get under the overpass, where we saw a lot of people hanging out and walking between the giant face murals on Glendale and the Echoplex several yards down.
There was a huge line of people waiting to get in, but June and I were able to get in free without waiting because her neighbor was one of the Emo Night DJs (June is the cool chick to my dusty couch-​bound married chick). We figured out that people were waiting upwards of two hours to get into this event, and us being human, that probably made us more likely to enjoy it.
The night turned out to be more or less what it sounded like – a bunch of DJs and guests on stage, including a rotating roster of guest DJs with some emo clout, spinning classic emo jams while the audience sang along with powerful enthusiasm. I don’t know very much about emo – every once in a while a Weezer song would come on, and I’d be like, oh okay, I know that one. Most of the songs sounded like variations on Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional, neither of which I particularly liked, even in high school. I had the sense that I’d never been around so many people who loved Blink-​182 so unreservedly. Even so, I had a good time. People get really excited about the music of their youth, and this seemed like a collection of adults who were singing their hearts out with fervent nostalgia.
The venue was good for it, too – big enough that it wasn’t disgustingly crowded, but small enough to feel somewhat intimate. We were able to mill around pretty easily, and June ran into several people she knew (I ran into no one). The bar wasn’t too slammed, and we got our drinks in good time. There were some specials, which didn’t seem especially cheap. June and I drank whiskey gingers, which were $ 8 apiece, along with the rest of the well drinks.
The bartender was nice. At one point, I stupidly dropped my ID on the floor, and June and I spent five frantic minutes retracing our steps trying to find it between the Echoplex and the street outside. Incredibly, someone had turned it in at the bar, and our bartender gave it to me with a smile. That was a pretty emotional experience, actually. Most of the other staffers we interacted with were nice, too. There was just one guy who was a total dick when June asked if we could check out the patio. Apparently that was the backstage – a one-​sentence explanation this dude decided to embellish into a weird power trip.
I’ve lived most of my life in L.A. with just this one trip to the Echoplex, so I don’t know that I’ll go again any time soon. I had a great time, though, hanging with the emo crowd, and would probably go to shows here if they aligned a bit closer to my interests (basset hounds, books, Unilocaling, couches).

I love coming here for dub club or funky soul! Come with a group or friends or alone you will always meet great people! Great vibes to dance too!

Great Venue, loud BASS oh and they have PIZZA at the bar! but make sure you go to the right bar or else your going to be waiting in a long line for pizza ahahah

The first issue I have is how grossly they advertise their no refund policy. It’s like an immediately hopeless endeavor to buy tickets to a show here. Prior to tonight’s fiasco, I tried to see Com Truise three times.
I finally made it in tonight and they messed up my drinks, and not even complicated ones. 2.p.m. and after four hours the artist I was there to see wasn’t even on.

I love this place! First and foremost, you get two venues in one: the Echo, and the Echoplex. The Echoplex is the downstairs venue, which is significantly larger inside and has a few bars to choose from, including one outside in the smoking area. Drinks are a little pricey, but not out of the ordinary for a club-​esque venue in Los Angeles.
Although I’m not entirely sure about their schedule, they seem to have «_​_​_​_​_​nights» every week or so. Some that I’ve been to thus far have been: David Bowie Night, The Cure
Night, Depeche Mode Night, and of course my personal favorite, Emo Night (sad as fuck, ride or cry).
As someone who generally hates clubs and club atmospheres, this is about as close as it gets without being completely inundated with vapid bimbos and collar-​poppers; the people I’ve met here are generally very cool. They have a large dance floor (or mosh pit, depending on the demographic of that particular evening), and more importantly, lots of attractive people dancing on it. Oh, and their bathrooms are fantastically huge (and clean).
I have to say that after reading some of the negative reviews for this place, most come off as very entitled and picky white people who were expecting something else entirely. Don’t listen to them; totally check out to the Echoplex!

I really like this venue a lot. There is plenty of public parking in the neighborhood. The place has an intimate setting and you can really get up close to the stage if you choose to take on that task. Drinks are reasonable? They really keep the place cool with the fans and the A/​C going. For the smokers the outside patio/​main entrance is large enough so you won’t be bumping elbows.
With the HOB getting closed down I hope to see more of my hiphop acts book this place. I’m really looking forward to coming back here.
Btw the few artists I’ve seen here were Bambu, Slum Village, Pete Rock, and last night was Del the Funky Homosapien and DJ Q-​Bert.

Hands down the best Reggae Music Venue in Southern California. WARNING-​Parking is a bear. Plenty of places to eat after the show that are open late including street vendors.

Review is for Wednesday nights @ Dub-​club:
If you’re looking for a chill spot to have a few drinks, listen to nonstop reggae and dance hall, smoke a few joints and dance the night away, then I have good news for you. This is a great place for alllll of that and more.
Seating is offered everywhere as it is not reserved for any bullshit vip/​bottle service crap. And there’s ice water and lemons in the back for your convenience. Dance floor is fairly sized, but you can dance anywhere as the venue is immense. One of my favorite spots to come out to.

She also wet me in the face with the water on her hands problaby from handling water she kinda splash it towards me
As I was standing in front of her she kinda lean over to her colleagues by her and whispered
Something in heir ears problaby saying to them «not to serve me again»
I wasn’t even drunk, or buzz at all
So later my girlfriend and I return to the bar and kindly ask for a drink to another bartender and the bartender wouldn’t serve me a drink
My girlfriend ask herself because she really wanted a drink badly and they wouldn’t serve her as well
so I just told her lets leave this place
I just closed my tab then after
We went to another bar across the street where they will serve us happily …

Venue was great. The seating was awesome because there were plenty of booths along the walls to hang out in while waiting for the show. There is a full bar and if you go with friends, you won’t get bored while waiting for the show to start. A lot of people hung out in the venue or outside in the smoking area. The space was bigger than I thought it would be from the outside.
We went to see Tanlines and the show started basically on schedule. This made it easy to get a good place near the stage right on time. I was able to get front row for this show. The sound was great, the crowd was great, it was an awesome experience. I would definitely take the time to travel to this venue again. In fact, I am going to look at the schedule right now.

Here’s the thing about both the Echo and the Echoplex… they kind of suck, but they book good artists, so it’s really a matter of what you can put up with. While the sound at the Echoplex was surprisingly well-​mixed last night at Jenny Lewis, I have been to shows there where it is overpoweringly loud. Probably a product of when they turn it into a dance club (at which time you sometimes get to experience the Echoplex while you are upstairs at the Echo).
There are so many poles and obstructions in the way, sight lines are extremely limited, especially when you are vertically challenged like I am. They also have added some barriers and security guys telling you where you can’t stand. «Gotta love that,» she said sarcastically. If you don’t get there early enough, you will be moving around quite a bit if you hope to see anything.
Again, for the bands they book, I will make the sacrifice every once in a while because I know what i’m getting myself into, but I wouldn’t bother for just anyone. If you’re tall and/​or don’t care about actually being able to see, the Echoplex may be your favorite venue in LA. What they also have going for them is relatively cheap beer, so at the very least you can spend time getting drunk and dancing in the back.
Parking is another negative, as is the relatively sketchy Echo Park location under an overpass. There is, however, a Burger King across the street if that’s important to you.

If you like reggae or dancehall you neeeeeeed to be here Wednesday nights for Dub Club. Free before 10. Dub Club is my happy place: D Have yet to find another club playing dancehall in massive amazing amounts.
You can literally wear anything but I would suggest comfy shoes if you’re a big dancer. I like that there’s all kinds of people on the floor all coming together for the music!
Only negative is that there are TONS of super creepy guys every time.
Particular shout out to a creeper who is there EVERY Wednesday: a younger rasta looking guy who has dreads and always has his hair up… def mixed race lighter complexion with light colored eyes and is always there always standing in the back looking for some girl to target. I kid you not… EVERY single time my friends and I go (maybe like once or twice a month) he comes behind us trying to sneak ON us. Disgusting and so annoying. So watch out for him and others.
Other than that lol… I love Dub Club and I wish it was on a Saturday :(
I’ve been here for other events/​concerts and it’s always chill. Nice big space to stand up and/​or dance.
Also always food outside for your post event drunchies. Usually bacon wrapped hotdogs (remember to get a jalapeño or serrano to top it off), a taco truck (bomb veggie tacos) and sometimes Jamaican food which I haven’t tried yet.

I have only gone to the Echoplex for Bootie LA. It’s always *ALWAYS* a good time. Be ready for lots of dancing, lots of fun and friendly (and too friendly) people. I went to the holiday theme event this year and it was a lot of fun. The dancers on stage are the best and the music is great and upbeat.
There are two bars and they are reasonably priced and there is never a long wait to get your booze.
Parking has always been easy. Lots of street parking is available or you can valet your car. I was also happy to see two street hot dog carts out after the party.
