This place used to be the most amazing place ever There are new owners now and it’s just they tried to vamp up but really didn’t do justice I grew up with the old owners and we were family They greeted everyone with love and smiles I don’t bother going there anymore …

By far, the WORST nacatamal I have ever had in my life! It was soggy because water got in it, it smelled rotten and when it had some black dirt like stuff in the wrapping. It tasted exactly as bad as it looked. I only went there because La 27 ran out and I was craving it. Gross! Next time I’ll just disregard my craving!

Waited for over 45 minutes for our food! Did they go to the ocean to catch the fish! I have ordered a filete dish several times before and have never had to wait so long for my food. Would not recommend, and definitely never going back.

I love this place! It’s definitely a neighborhood gem. The family that owns it are always very nice when I come in and I enjoy the small talk while I wait for my take out order. I love their carne asade, the style of rice and beans they make, it all taste fresh and really good. My son loves the bacon wrapped shrimp dish they have and when he’s in the mood for a burger, there’s are awesome! Actually, I love their burgers as well! If you’re in the neighborhood and want great home made nicaraguan food, this place is a must!

Carla la mesera es buena, y la comida está muy rica! Y las Toñas heladas! I ate la carne desmenuzada y mi amigo ate salpicón. Both were excellent.

This place sucks! They didn’t have enough people on staff. They gave us the menus after and hour. The food took another 2 hours. They didn’t have soap or paper in the restrooms.

The waitress took our order, and that pretty much sums it up. She didn’t want by to ask if we wanted dessert, didn’t come by to refill glasses, mind you the restaurant had only another table filled. So there was no excuse for poor service. The waitress seemed more interested in gossiping with her coworkers than customers. The portions were small, and the price big. Our plates consisted of 80% rice and beans. Will never go back to it. There are other options for Nicaraguan food.

Ate at El Asador last night with my wife(nicaraguan). We were disappointed to see that wasn’t worth a Nicaraguan influence in the restaurant, but we were all happy with the food and that they did carry Tona. The restaurant /nightclub does seem like the weekends get pretty busy with live music. Will be coming to check it out again on the weekend

Not impressed. You ask«do you have this?» Almost everything I asked for they didn’t have. The serving size was not impressive. And the beans in the gallo pinto were undercooked. I suggest La 27 instead. Might be a little more expensive but there you’re really getting what you paid for. The taste was good atleast. That I’ll give them. And then we get the bill and they charged 3.50 for a bottle of water!!! Nos robaron!

Ordered the Sopa de Cola(Oxtail soup) pretty good. Comes with side of rice. Also ordered the agua de jamaica(Hibiscus drink) pretty spicy needs more ice or water. The family ordered the carne asada plate. Looked pretty good. Next time ill try it. Tip: No free refills on drinks!(Any)

Over rated! Ordered ribs and they were mainly bones… No meat! What did they do with the meat? Most customers come to this place to drink only…

This restaurant gives you a warm feel of being in Nicaragua. The food is authentic as you can get. The restaurants ambiance is tropical meet’s the hood. They have too many main dishes to claim so I will talk about my favorites here. Baho is generally sold on the weekends for some strange reason. This is a Nicaragüense staple so it’s a must that you try it. It is a hearty meal that consists of Meat, Yucca aka Cassava aka cousin of a potato, and platano that is served with a «salad» aka cabbage that’s chopped on top of it. The Nacatamal(Nicaraguan Tamale aka the best tamale in the world) is also good but gigantic and any Nacatamal you ever come across, you better share cause it’s enormous. Queso Frito(Fried Cheese, mostly imported from Nicagragua), Gallo Pinto(Red Beans and Steamed White Rice that are mixed, and Platano(Platains that are either fried or Tejada, which is the Platain Chip version, and a Salad are served with most dishes. Cacao is another favorite of mine which is similar to chocolate milk. May seem chalky but worth a try especially if you love chocolate. The food takes forever and a day to be cooked which you will complain about. When you are stuffed, it will be worth it. They have a parking lot in the back which is very accessible.

I’m 100% Nicaraguan. I haven’t really enjoyed places like Adelita’s or La 27. Their food didn’t taste authentic to me. One day my mom and I started researching more Nicaraguan restaurants in the L.A. area and we found this one online. The menu sounded real Nica, so we decided to give it a try. We drove south for 1.5 hours from Lancaster, CA and I am glad to say we didn’t regret it. Our orders and ratings. Churrasco con chimichurri(Nicaraguan style) 4 out of 5 –Very tender, delicious meat. The sides of gallo pinto and salad with green plantain chips were excellent. The chimichurri needed more olive oil, vinegar and garlic, but that’s the only thing that was lacking. For $ 17 it’s worth every penny. Pescado Frito entero a la Tipitapa — 4 out of 5 — Whole fried fish with tomato sauce sautéed onions and fresh tomato made in the style of how they make it in the city of Tipitapa. This dish was incredibly tasty, but a bit too salty, that’s why I knocked off 1 star. Lengua en Salsa — 5⁄5 Beef tongue, with raisins, bell peppers and a sweet tomato sauce base. Excellent. Perfect in every way. Quesillo — 5⁄5 reminds me exactly like the quesillos you eat on the streets of Managua, or even the most excellent ones they have at Augusto Cesar Sandino Int’l. I would dare to say they are better than the ones in Leon City or Nagarote. Bunuelos — 5⁄5 — the only dessert they had on the menu, made from cassava, fried into dumplings and served with clavo de olor, cinnamon sticks and sugary syrup. Reminds me exactly of the ones my grandfather made. 5 out 5 They didn’t have nacatamales, vigoron, Pio V or 3 Leches which was a bummer. So I knock off 1 star because those are very proper to Nica cuisine. I believe they should always be available. Also the 1 star knocked off in general was because of the chimichurri lacking garlic and vinegar and the fish being too salty. Other than that it was GREAT!!! Cacao and Maraculla drinks are excellent. Don’t drink Coke with your food! Trust me! I love this place. I would drive south again or even visit whenever I’m in L.A.

I like this place! I’ve been coming here since it first opened, and I am glad it has improved with the years. The place is moderately spacious. The booth they had a few years ago were terrible so the new seating and tables are way better than that. The service is very attentive, an they make sure you don’t need them in the middle of your meal. I used to love this place when the food was authentic Nicaraguan cuisine, but they have adopted more Mexican/Salvadoran food influences in its menu. I was here today after many months of not visiting and I found out they’ll opening a mini night club next to the restaurant so it will continue to change for better I guess if you are into dancing and clubbing. Food wise– it’s tasty, and clean. The new cook(’cause I didn’t see the one I used to see every time I went there before) pay more attention to the plating now that they also have new plates. My favorite dish to order it’s el asador carne asada(grilled meat) with gallo pinto(rice & beans), ripe fried plantains or banana chips. It also comes with a piece of fried cheese and cabbage salad with lemon/vinegar dressing. The portion is pretty normal sized, not too much, not too little. They have a small private parking in the back of the restaurant, and the prices are okay.
