Micheladas are good. Other than that the food isn’t good nor fresh and most of the staff acts as if they’re doing you a favor by helping you out. And the restroom is horrible. Not to mention expensive for what they serve, wouldn’t mind it if it was worth it.

Food is delicious and nicely priced, will definitely return to this restaurant. I recomment the 2 for 1 Mojarra tuesday.

The place isn’t that bad as many other reviews state. There is one particular server that does have an attitude, but I don’t find it fair to judge the place depending on one persons attitude. Furthermore, I recommend the Micheladas, taco de pescado, and tostada de Camaron. De place is a small location nothing fancy. Yet, I believe the prices are cheap. I say always try for yourself and then judge. Right? What might not be someone else’s cup of tea can end up being yours. Enjoy!

If I could give no stars that would be my choice. Maybe a star for having multiple televisions. Came with three people and the second we walked in the lady attending us had an attitude but that’s just the start. Ordered siete mares caldo, tostada mixta, mojarra frita, and breaded shrimp. Without a doubt we all said the same thing, the food was extremely bland. I mean no taste no seasoning worth a darn. Honestly this was not Mexican that I know and I have a feeling the people making it weren’t either. To top it off had all this food ordered and the dang lady never brings our drinks, we had to go ask for them ourselves.wtf. Never again never again. Hate places with no service that comes with bad bad food. At last on or the other right?

First It was my dates idea to come here. I order the camarones al mojo de ajo Which is sauteed shrimp in garlic. The entire shrimp was the size of a quarter. Maybe eight shrimp in the plate. I was very disappointed with my food and my date.

I absolutely love Mexican food, but I won’t try any food. I used my Unilocal application on my blackberry to find Mexican food in the area I was in at the time. I was by my church which is located in East Los Angeles. The further east down Florence you go the Mexican food places turn into Mexican Food Trucks. Now those I don’t deal… no no, you won’t catch me eating from what we other wise refer to as a roach coach, unless I’m «chocolate wasted» and its after 2:00Am In the morning. I called first, and they answered(first good sign) so I drove over there, and to my delight they had some of the best tacos, I’ve ever had from a mom and pop’s Mexican Restaurant. it was clean on the inside they were playing Latin music and they were dressed according to a Mexican thing. Although, I didn’t stay to dine-in, I ordered 1 Shredded Beef Taco, and 1 Carna Asada taco and it was absolutely amazing.

I am someone who loves, that’s right, loves Mexican food. Because I am somewhat health conscious and date someone who is extremely averse to anything remotely unclean or unsanitary, lets just say it has severely diminished the visits to some of my Mexican standars like El Tepeyac. Yup, late-night visits to the back alley roach coaches have long since pasted. One day I spot a Mexican restaurant by the name of El Compadre located in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. This seems so familiar, but it is only when I depart, now by moon-light that I recognize the neon sign across the street. I am right next door to the Short Stop. This place, not unlike what I understand of its sister location in Hollywood is extremely dark. The dining area is larger than it appears at first glance, but unless it is necessary very few people sit in the room adjacent to the main dining area. The Margaritas are fabulous and they are flaming, no really they have a flame that is lit on the rind of a capsized lemon peel floating in the middle of the glass. This is a cute little gimmick that apparently does not make a repeat appearance on your next order. This is El Cholo of Los Angeles past. It is a quaint place with big bulky booths and a television screen at the bar. It is as unpretentious as you can get with a trio that plays throughout the night. I have tried the Chili Rellenos, the Carnitas, the Enchiladas and the Guacamole and they’re all pretty good. Did you know that El Coyote get about a thousand patron a day coming through their doors? Well this location, I’ve never been to the other, does a fraction of that business and yet the food is so much better. If ever the Bell is closed and you’re still in the mood for some good Mexican food with sanitary conditions, give El Compadre a try.
