Place is cash only. Really authentic Mexican shack and serves fair priced food. Got a half chicken half steak burrito for 5.50 and it was ready in less than a minute.

The burritos here are amazing. The quality is overall better than surronding food trucks. I would recommend half chicken/half steak burrito OR a chicken and egg burrito

I love carnitas. Love, love, love them. I won’t pretend to be an expert on the authentic preparation, but I know that when the meat is slow cooked until it is falling apart with brown crunchy bits around the edges; and the flavor is really rich and meaty and there is enough fat left on the meat to boost the flavor without turning the thing into a greasy mess, I am in heaven. Heaven is what I found at El Ranchito. As others have said — the place is small, but the patio is shady and inviting. You can see the tiny kitchen and it always looks clean. The guys that run the place, with pride, are very polite and helpful and are happy to let you sample their food to see if you like it. The salsa is fiery hot(or, to me it is!) with great flavor. A plate of 2 tacos generously piled with meat, with rice and beans on the side, is 4 bucks. I’m working in their area now, so I’ve eaten there several times. It’s been consistently delicious every time.

Wow this brightly painted shack really surprised me! First of all, the teeny enclosed kitchen area was immaculate. The cook(only person there) had a clean white apron, kept counters wiped down, had all meats covered if he wasn’t scooping, and even the floor was clean. The dude washed his hands between each duty(cooking, cleaning, cash handling) — better hygiene than any restaurant I’ve seen in a while. Food– tacos are $ 2 each, which is more than most street taco places, but they make up for it with huge meat portions and free rice and beans(which were so so). I got a lengua and a barbacoa. Lengua was chopped in big chunks, and a bit on the gamier/organ-y tasting side. My barbacoa was better, tasty cubes of pork that were marinated well and had a hint of spiciness, it had no sweetness like some barbacoa does. I enjoyed it, but I think will stick to the cheaper, simpler taco truck down the street.

i placed an order for delivery almost 2 hours ago and i’m still waiting! i’ve been calling them for the past hour, and their phone is busy… they have my phone number because they called back to confirm the number so even if they’re lost, they should have called. i don’t care how good the food is if their customer service is horrible.

Here is my tip… eat outside the box. Great street tacos. Great Mexican lunch under $ 5.00. HOT! It would be hard to find a rattier looking place, but this place rocks. I swung through earlier today for a quick bite and was not let down. I know for many bellying up to a hole in the wall taco joint in South East L.A. can be intimidating, but the guy who took my order was quick to spot that I was wondering what the hell they served here. He told me very politely they served tacos with various meats including chicken, pork, asada and a few others. The tacos run about $ 2 each and you end up getting a side of rice and refried beans which were pretty good. They have benches around the side for you to eat at and they even have a TV screen hanging from the rafters, which today was turned off. There is not much to say about this place other than it is located on industrial street next to a Roofing Material yard — which is why i was there — and they have great tacos that are packed with flavor and meat. I am glad i stopped here and look forward to my next visit to this side of L.A.

this place is great! homemade authentic mexican food on an otherwise boring street corner in the industrial part south of downtown. fast and friendly service and delicious food. i pulled into the parking lot behind, just looking for a quick taco before work and was thinking asada, which was the only thing they didnt have today. the kid showed me all their other meat items and even offered samples. my choice feel on the stewed beef in tomato and onion, which has been his dad’s favorite recipe for over 20 years. i ordered two tacos, which were already about 5″ instead of the usual 4″, and he piled that stuff on there high, dressed it with onion, cilantro and even added a spoonful or rice and beans to the small plate. lemon wedges and salsa verde and you got a whole meal. i will stop there again as soon as i can and try their other menu items!

Yesterday, had the two taco plate with rice, beans, cilantro, peppers, etc., with a drink for $ 5! Tacos are tortillas with your choice if carne asada, lengua, carnitas, or BBQ. Quick service!
