It was a bit underwhelming. Veryyyy rich and creamy but not so flavourful – we ordered medium but definitely got mild. We also had the wrong food served to our table three times and felt really badly for the staff. Highly recommend sitting further inside on a chilly evening as the door kept blowing open making it freezing near the entrance.

It’s a nice spot to hang out with family and enjoy some authentic Indian food. The ambience is the by the far, the best I have seen in this price-​setting restaurant. The candles and zen feel of Buddha is a pump up for your mood! Go for it!
The food: We ordered Samosas (for a change, they were not frozen: great), Chicken Tikka masala dinner plate (ample quantity, delicious, hot and just the way I love it), chana masala and paneer electric were sides. All in all, it was delectable. It should deserve a 4+ rating, but all it lacked is the CUSTOMER SERVICE. The servers were so disinterested, non-​hospitable and did not even bother once to check if we were doing fine! Management, take a look. You guys are worth an awesome rating. Keep your staff happy!

A hole in the wall place for excellent Indian food!
Get the chicken curry and the garlic naan! both tastes excellent.
Service was great!
Parking is a bit tough… but you can parking at the Bank of America lot for $ 5.00.

I’m not sure why I love this place so much, as the food is not great.
It might be the super chill, quiet and cozy atmosphere (perfect to come alone with a book), it might be the friendly and quick staff, maybe it is that the middle-​week lunch deals are pretty damn cheap, it could be that, while I already said the food is not great, everything I’ve tried from their menu is good enough to be satisfied.
They serve big amounts of food, so be ready to go back home with a box :)

Used to work at Prospect Studios 10 years ago and fell in love with this place. The fact that you can choose your sauce (curry, masala, vindaloo etc) and your meat or veggie gives you infinite options. They are vegetarian friendly as well as carnivore friendly… a rarity in Indian restaurants. After 10 years and even after they changed locations, their food tastes exactly the same… excellent!!! Saag paneer and lamb masala are my go-​to dishes.

Nice and Cozy place and lunch special is the best deal in that area. Very nice and quiet. I like the fresh salad that comes with the chicken curry lunch special and they bring you the salad dressing on the side. Big and generous portion I can’t finish them all and take the other half home also Garlic Naan is the one you can’t miss.

I used to frequent Electric Lotus quite often when it was down the street.
Therefore, I was glad when it reopened down the street.
I soon discovered a lot had changed and it was not the same.
I ordered chicken masala and cheese olive naan.
The masala was lacking sweetness and was extremely bitter and salty.
It was tragic and the worse masala I have ever tasted.
It was as if someone poured a container of salt into the sauce!
The naan was great as I remembered.
But what sealed the deal for me was when I went to the restroom that is shared with a bar next door and discovered a toilet that does not flush and a sink that does not have knobs to turn on running water!
This was the nastiest mess I had ever encountered at a food establishment and made me wonder how do the cooks wash their hands?!
I don’t have the time nor energy to report this place to the health department.
I unequivocally will never return!

I really enjoyed my dinner tonight. I never been to an Indian restaurant before that had calamari for an appetizer. It was delicious. It wasn’t old or over cook and mostly importantly it doesn’t taste like rubber. It also has an Indian flavor kick to it. I also got the rice, garlic nan and a veggie dish, my friend got the coconut curry chicken. The favors were fresh and vibrant! I can taste the fresh ingredients and bite into the ginger: Great taste! Great ambiance and I Love listening to the Mantras they were while we were dining.

Highly recommended. Having lived in North India most of my life and explored many places in California I can say it is one of the best Indian food I have had. Food is better than most places in Bay Area like Amber. Saag chicken was intense and authentic like from a slow cooked wood fired flame in a village in Punjab. Saag was not grounded to a measly paste. And the chicken just melted in the mouth. The Paneer Tikka Masala had a zing to it with ginger juliennes. Electric Paneer was also good and had more tomato in the sauce. Olive naan was interesting And garlic naan was spot on.
We got spice level: medium which was good for Indian palette and for our white friends as well.
Ambience was amazing and music was nice.
Will come back for more when we visit LA again.

Alright, we’re getting better.
There seems to be a new manager/​FOH person, he seated us quickly and got us set up with drinks. We ordered two large beers and he suggested just one to share for now, which I thought was considerate.
The food arrived quickly, almost too quickly this time, which hey that’s better than too slow like last time. Problem this time was my wife ordered the dinner (which comes with rice, naan, and vegetables), and I ordered the same, but they only gave her the dinner order. In retrospect I didn’t specifically ask for my entrée to be a dinner, but it seemed like I was implying it. Not their fault really, but I didn’t feel like asking for it to be corrected.
Perhaps they were a little overwhelmed because there was a party that was taking up half the restaurant while we were there.
Again, much better than the service last time, but there are still wrinkles to be ironed out. We WILL be back though.

Undistinguished Indian food. Surprising selection of imported beer. Cute interior, almost classy– considering the location it was a perfect fit.
Just can’t get over the so-​so food. I can even forgive the waiter screwing up part of our order (hey, it happens, especially when you don’t write things down), but the chicken naan was sort of a not-​so-​interesting experiment, the garlic naan, while garlicy, wasn’t all that interesting, and the lamb vindaloo (ordered: hot) wasn’t much more than hot and no other flavor.
It’s not awful, but I’ve had much, much better.

Still on an Indian food kick after only trying it for the first time earlier this year. Since this place is only a few blocks from my apartment, I thought I’d give it a try.
Great choice! The food I got at Electric Lotus hit the spot. I’ve gone for lunch a few times now and each time I’ve walked away satisfied and stuffed. Chicken tikka masala is my fave, but I’ve also gotten lamb korma and vindaloo which was also super good. I also like that I can get extra salad instead of rice when I’m trying to eat low carb. Will always miss that garlic basil naan though.
What makes this place extra MVP is the price of the lunch special. Los Feliz doesn’t have many spots for cheap eats, but getting a platter of food for $ 8 is a steal here! And for an Indian restaurant, that’s extra cheap.
I’ll be a regular here, catch me at lunch!

The food is delicious, hot, (a little Americanized) and almost anything will easily be made vegan (and more delicious). All the staff is pretty amazing. I’ll give the proper accolades to our server last night, Ashley. She’s friendly, she’s quick, she’s responsive and she made our short visit there comfortable. Thanks! Most dishes are 10 bucks and a LARGE side of rice is 3. Well worth it.
This place has got some pretty cool atmosphere too. This place is a little more updated than most Indian joints I’ve visited with vibrant colors. It seems probably due to practically this whole block in Los Feliz being owned by someone who knows how to run a business.

I want to not like Electric Lotus, because it feels like Indian food for white people. They were playing 80s music, which makes no sense (great live version of Depeche Mode’s «Never Let Me Down Again,» though), and it’s in Los Feliz. However, other than the authenticity issues with the music, I can’t think of a single thing wrong.
The servers were friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. There’s already mango chutney on the table, instead of having to pay extra for it, and it is delightful on the veggie samosas. The prices are very reasonable for the serving sizes, and a lot of the dishes are available with tofu instead of meat. We had the Jelfrazzi tofu (kinda spicy) and the Paneer Tikka Masala (creamy goat cheese chunks in a delicious sauce) with jasmine rice, all of which were really good; I liked the paneer best. We ate it with a gargantuan piece of fresh naan, and even though my friend and I are both Team Food, we both took a to-​go box home, despite our best efforts.
I feel like I should be going for a more authentic experience when I have Indian food, but I’ll definitely be back to Electric Lotus no matter how lamely tri-​hipster area it makes me feel.

Definitely have had better. Tried this place twice to make sure.
We ordered here to-​go for our film shoot. We got everyone to choose a lunch special. They gave us 10 – 12 orders completely unmarked, in the WORST styrofoam packaging to put curries and liquids in. It leaked EVERYWHERE. So messy. And as a heads up, the chicken tikka takes FOREVER to cook. We were late on lunch because of it.
Then I went here with a friend. I got the tikka masala and it was like eating a salt lick. Wasn’t able to taste any of the other spices. Papadum was two slices for a little over $ 2…WHAT. Was not expecting only two pieces, that’s crazy.
I’d say if you are looking for an indian restaurant, go to Taste of India instead down the street a bit. This place isn’t very good.

As far as standard Indian fare goes, Electric Lotus isn’t bad at all. It fits right in the middle. Everything else about it like ambiance and service contribute to a pleasant experience. It’s a decent local spot where you can take a few friends to catch up with before the weekend. I dined here when they were at their original location down the block by 7-​Eleven. Went back for dinner a couple of weeks ago and it was just as good as I remember. Made reservations for Friday night without problems. Walked in and was seated promptly. Customer service was fine; I saw the owners helping out so it was all hands on deck for a busy evening. We got everything we needed and left satisfied.
The food was delicious and the portions generous for our table of three. We ordered the veggie samosas to start and enjoyed the chana masala, tikka masala and one of the aloo entrees for our core dishes. The wait staff was courteous and obliging, coming around to fill our cups every chance they got. The place is distinctly romantic with its Middle Eastern drapery and light fixtures, it’s pretty. I recommend this place for just about any occasion and I hear it’s a popular lunch spot. Park in the surrounding neighborhood, it’s a nice walk over. Namaste!
