Elite Event: Rock the Jingle Bells at Rolling Stone

Another venue that I’ve never had the chance to visit before. That’s what I love about Unilocal.This was just a fun night. Even my +1, who didn’t know anybody else, had fun here. Food, drinks, photobooth, and music. All good too. Chalk this up as a Win!
VENUE: Spacious. Two main rooms. One side with dance floor and photobooth. The other side with bar and lounge area.
PARKING: I always dread parking in Hollywood. Good thing my +1 knew the area and had us park in a nearby lot for free. Sweet!

Basically… this was a party of all parties to end the year right!
VENUE:
Rolling Stone is a really cool venue. I did not know about it’s underground part. I was really digging the lounge vibe. The seats were comfy and I felt like I was in a old 90s rock n roll movie — High Fidelity!
FOOD:
The food was delicious!

* and the desserts… OMG. Yes.

Awesome booth. Long lines were worth it because you could email to yourself IMMEDIATELY! Whaaaa… awesome!

OVERALL:
Awesome.

Friggin amazing — this being a Katie B event, there is no wonder this Unilocal Elite event had so much WIN written all over it. There is no holiday party like a Unilocal Elite Holiday Party. Leave the ugly sweaters at home, we are here to class it up. Shout-​outs to all my bow-​tie welding brothers (or sisters if I missed ya). If Class was a planet, you’d all be from there.
-=-Venue: Rolling Stone-​=- Hollywood and Highland is a pretty big deal. It’s the epitome of modern day Hollywood glory. The basement of the Rolling Stone was the perfect gem of a location. I haven’t been here before, but when first descending the stairs and overlooking the floor, you get that underground party feeling. There was no shortage of seating here either. If you wanted to sit, you sat… if you wanted to dance, you danced. The beats were off the hook with most of the emphasis on trance music. It wasn’t overly loud either, since I seemed to remember my conversations that day.
-=-Drinks n Eats-​=- The bar was free flowing with Holiday Bourbon or Champagne. It was the most poppin area of the whole joint. The best part was that it wasn’t overly crowded either. If you wanted a drink, you got a drink and it didn’t take 10 minutes to get it. The bourbon was where it was at. Eats was a bit more limited edition. When it came out, it was gone. Special thanks to Richard K who was looking out for my empty stomach. I’d be on the curb if you weren’t lookin out.
-=-Photo booth by Photo BoothLess-​=- The upstairs area was poppin for one main reason that that was the photo booth. The line never got too ridiculous, but it was also the only line in the joint. There were no toys to play with and I didn’t quite understand the backdrop, but no one really cared since we sported our own FUC’ing Unilocal Santa Hats to portray the holiday theme.
-=-Cirque Du Soleil Iris Guys-​=- These guys are pretty dope. Like a fly on the wall, they were pretty amused at us. I’ve seen them in the past few events, and somehow they always impart the Iris Show into my head. Low and behold, I’m gonna see it next week… ohhhhhh you guys… you did well on me.

I had no idea this was even here at H&H, and I want to say RS took the spot where Ryan Seacrest used to have his TV show. Don’t ask me why I know that…
This lounge was stunning! I really enjoyed the dramatic entrance, down the stair case, where you can see everyone hanging out, drink in hand. The décor was pretty upscale, and perfect for a club atmosphere.
The free holiday shot was tasty, went down like candy! YUM! We took a few laps, said Hi to others and took some photos. I really loved everyone’s cocktail/​holiday get ups too! I wish we could dress up all the time. Only bum-​out, I wasn’t able to try any food — it was gone by the time it got over to us! Or should I say, it never made it our way. But that’s okay!
Before we left, we donated money to Salvation Army and then, we walked around the Rolling Stone restaurant part. Gazed at the fun Rolling Stone covers, the nice bar, and the swanky seating area and tables. The menu had some tasty items to serve, so I will definitely go back to try!

Just being at Hollywood & Highland during the winter time is a treat! Getting invited to a Unilocal elite event for kick off the end of a great year is PRICELESS! Rock the Jingle Bells at Rolling Stone was one of three December elite events held by the LA East and LA West community managers.
There was a $ 5 suggested donation to benefit the Salvation Army. Props to them for having a great table set up with information as well as a shiny red donation bucket that none of us wanted to miss!
The check-​in offer for a free vodka shot was great! It was their fun way of giving us our Unilocal shot glass with some sugary goodness! Each shot the bartender made was at random, our group of four had two different colored shots!
The appetizers served by the Rolling Stone staff were tasty (for the few we happened to get our hands on. Going to happy hour beforehand prevented us from becoming hungry hungry hippos! The pork shoulder on a biscuit as well as the desserts (peppermint cheesecake and gingerbread whoopie pie?) are notable mentions!
We sipped champagne from Freixnet (
), which was light and refreshing! I only tried a sip of a Buffalo Trace Bourbon (
) cocktail, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea (a little too strong).
PhotoBoothless (
) had a fun «photo booth» type set up with pictures printed on the spot! I also appreciated how you get to email your pictures to yourself and multiple email addresses. As soon as the email addresses were inputted, we got those pictures via email!
DJ La Muerte (
) was spinning upbeat songs the entire evening. Like Jackson Y., I was a little bummed that he didn’t play Gangnam Style since it was mentioned in our quirky email.

This was a fantastic event! Not only was the staff very friendly, but the overall venue was great! I always wanted to know what this place looked like and I definitely can find myself back here.
You have a bar upstairs and restaurants, then going downstairs is another bar, lounge area, fantastic underground area.
We drinks were choices of a red shot, Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Freixenet’s Champagne. My favorite was the bourbon mixture, nothing too sweet, a somewhat clean taste.
The food was awesome! Great sliders, the crostini with the carrot had a great flavor, something different that I loved. Another option was a pickled tuna on a cracker with horseradish, delicious! Unfortunately, I missed out on the screwer and a couple other dishes. I felt bad, the waiters did a great job on handling the vultures who grabbed the food before the waiters could even get on the floor.
The dessert was good, I only was able to taste the whoopie pie like bit size, which was pretty decent, nothing too special.
I also enjoyed the photo booth, who doesn’t?! The girl who was taking the picture was super nice and was nice to take our picture again because our first came out bad.
The DJ did a great job, giving away free shirts, tickets, and playing great music. However, some rude guy was calling him lame or stupid because he didn’t give him a shirt, people are not nice!
Overall, the event went fantastically and I would definitely want to return.

Awesome party! My first Elite event was the holiday party in 2010 so my little Elite anniversary makes these year-​end shindigs even better. Katie B, it was a blast! Thanks!
We got there early so I was able to grab a Santa hat and a Unilocalstick, and managed to get a piece of chorizo flatbread and a slider. The event said light bites only, and I’m glad we prepared by eating a sandwich in the mall beforehand, because we had no chance of getting any food after that with the hungry crowd waiting to descend on the servers as soon as they came out. But I love champagne so I was thrilled to have Freixenet all night. The bar area got packed but it moved along well enough.
We mingled with some new faces and a couple of familiar ones… Chris (I don’t know your last initial!) recognized me as the girl with the Unilocal-​colored glasses from Momed back in April, hah. I’ve since gotten new frames but I still keep those red ones in my purse… zennioptical for the win!
And… I won tickets to Cirque du Soleil IRIS!!! I am so excited! Just the cherry on top of a fantastic evening. Hope to do it all over again next year! :D

Time to celebrate with the Unilocal community at the Rolling Stone restaurant. I brought a non-​yelper as my guest to this event and I think I encouraged him to be part of the Unilocal community. What more can you ask for at a party than free food, alcohol, pictures and music.
The food served here was delicious. You had to be very quick to grab a morsel on a tray which the servers brought downstairs. I was able to try the pizza, pull pork on a biscuit, and a meatball. I think people figured it out the system which was to hang out by the stairs as this was where the servers entered.
My friend and I were in detox mode so we couldn’t sip on the free drinks buzzing around. From the looks of it, they looked mighty swell.
The photo booth for the event was kind of retro. It reminded me of a time capsule that you had to look at and then, «flash,» it was over. My friend and I hit the booth early knowing that a long line might occur.
The DJ for the evening was from Insomniac so he knew how to throw down the tunes. With a little help from our hostess with the most-​ess Katie B., she got the crowd dancing.
The Cirque Du Soleil IRIS people were there passing out raffle tickets for 20 lucky people to win tickets to see the production. I can happily say that I am one of the 20 lucky people!
A Unilocal party wouldn’t be enjoyable if not running into Unilocal friends. It was nice running into the beautiful Orsolya D. and her boyfriend Michael who I met at the Unilocal Prefer Blondes event. Lots of love to Laura S., my matchmaker. Nice to meet Richard Gadget in person. Good to see Brian I. but miss my Hawaii bro Brian P. Christina you are amazing. And last, Katie B. the enchanting woman in red.
Now to hit up any events in my home town Honolulu for X-​mas.
2012 is going to an end and 2013 is looking mighty good right now.

Kinda disappointed that the DJ didn’t play Gangnam Style. But other than that, this was another Great end of the year event!
The liquor never stopped flowing, always a good sign of a good time. The bartenders were AWESOME. Super attentive and quick for this amount of thirsty Unilocalers. And we Unilocalers LOVE to get our drink on. Rolling stone was very generous with the «light bites.» The best hor dourves was the pizza/​flat bread. The thin crusty bread was great with the flavorful/​delicious toppings. If you didn’t get your hands on any, that’s what you missed out on food wise.
On a side note, I was approached by some rude lady when I was going after some hor dourves for my cousin. Made a really nasty comment about me going in for 2nds. Bothered me for a second. But that lady needs to settle down. It’s not like I was trying to take it out of your hands.
Anyway, It was great to see some of my fellow elites. Shout out to the bros, Ellerton W, James S, Jose A, JR C, Richard K, Matt P! And the Ladiesssss, Laura S, Jen H, Tiffany D, Janet L! It was also nice to meet some new faces. Shout out to Amy S, it was nice to finally meet you in person!
Thank you Rolling Stone and all the servers for making this a great event for me. And of course Ms. Katie B, Thank you for this event, and 2012. Bigger and better in 2013 right?

The end of 2012 is upon us. This means getting charity tax deductions in order, eating way too much food, and tears for those who don’t have family (maybe that is just me). What else does mean? The annual Elite holiday gathering of both naughty and nice Unilocalers. This year’s bash, held at Rolling Stone LA, rung in the holidays with food, alcohol, and Unilocal Santa hats.
Organization was the initial welcoming factor at this year’s holiday event. There were no long lines, no crowding, and no double-​booking catastrophes (cough cough last year). Although the vibe was that of a Hollywood club (granted, we were in Hollywood) which isn’t particularly my cup of tea; there was enough room to move, dance, and enjoy one’s self.
Unilocalers gathered around the bar for check-​in shots (which had a holiday spice kick), bourbon cocktails (ginger-​y yumminess), and champagne. Although the drinks were low on alcohol and high on the diluted add-​ins; they were free so I can’t complain. The shot was my personal favorite. The bartenders were quick and efficient (albeit they didn’t have time to be overly-​friendly or anything).
The food was rather delicious as the staple of any holiday party. Delicious mushroom flatbread pizzas, Goat cheese Crostini balsamic glaze, Chipotle BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders, Steak and Potato skewers, and some sort of sushi roll filled my tummy. They were all quite enjoyable. The secret to taste everything, was to hang out by the stairs. My fellow Unilocaler and boyfriend and I roared with laughter as the waiters brought down the food and didn’t make it past the Unilocalers at the stairs. Speaking of: the employees with the food were kind and not annoyed nor overwhelmed by the Unilocaler attackers.
I am sure you are wondering about dessert. I mean, why else do we all gain weight around the holidays?! Candy Cane Cheesecake, Apple Empanadas, Almond Cookie Balls (a Christmas classic), and Gingerbread cupcakes with brown butter frosting and a cookie for garnish; were plentiful and filled us with sugar and spice and everything nice (literally). The cupcake was absolutely amazing and gave me garnish ideas for my own personal holiday baking.
The photo booth was quick and enjoyable with the option to email yourself photos; while Unilocal swag like Santa hats added to the holiday spirits. My low point? I was one number away from winning Iris tickets. Whose idea of a joke was that?!
My only major disappointment was the lack of holiday activities or decorations (a la the PJ Holiday Elite party at the El Rey a couple years ago). This would have given more entertainment and holiday glitter to the event.
Overall, Unilocalers rang in the holidays and some said good bye to the 2012 Unilocal year. Here’s to another year of Unilocal tears, smiles, highs, and lows. Happy Holidays and Unilocaling!

Champaign were served and so were the holiday bourbon apple juice. Check-​in and show ot to the bar, you get a holiday shot! Oh man… that’s when you might crave food. :x
Food were served and they were fantastic. Salmon, cheese on toast, some sort of springrolls and desserts? Gah, absolutely amazing!

$ 2 parking with validation for the first four hours. Plentiful parking at the hollywood highland structure. This place is located across from the cpk and starbucks.
Crostini and sliders are being served. Crostini were awesomeness. Bubbly, champagne popping all around. Yumski on the spiked apple cider. There was a free photo booth, where you could grab picture and email it to yourself.

Lovely. Clubby. Drinkie. Dancie. Unilocalers all dressed up, who knew?!? Guys dapper, and the gals were hot! No mistletoe for a Holiday party? Pffff!
I had a little of each to drink (a punch shooter, bourbon pear cocktail, glass of champagne), yum. With a live DJ, the music was pumpin’, the place was hoppin’…and I started to get dance fever and the white mans overbite. It was an opportunity to Dance With The Unilocalers, so I hit the dance floor. Unfortunately, my pockets were so full with Unilocal garb, I couldn’t do «The Berger», my signature move. I was so greatly weighed down, it looked like a bad version of the «Humpty dance». Horrible. I finished this DWTY with a much easier «Electric Slide» to the corner and wept.
Other than the dancing, it was terrific! Nice chatting with Natalie, Cheaptimes, Orsolya and beau Michael, Judy and hubby Johnson, Jerline, and the relocated SanFran gals. The entire staff were kind and very customer oriented, and what a nice venue! Definitely will come back again on my own.
