Espresso Profeta

I have been to dozens of cafes in LA and Profeta has the best espresso and pastries.
Service can be a bit pretentious/​sarcastic, which is typical for high end cafes. Usually I’m in the mood for it.
Ambience is pretty good. Patrons are often very carefully dressed and frequently speaking european languages. Some cooler UCLA students. Free wifi but no power. The chairs are kind of uncomfortable. It’s a good place for a meeting or for a few hours of work, but it’s too intense/​stimulating for an entire day of work (also no power).

A terrific espresso spot with decent wifi, staff who care about the drinks that they make and indoor or outdoor seating. The only downside is that the line can become an issue but it’s well worth the wait for the personality of the café and the consistently great cups of caffeine.

Definitely a coffee/​tea shop I’ll come back to visit. I was feeling under weather so right when the employee said he drinks the Foxtrot tea when he’s feeling sick, he sold me right away. It was a beautiful balance between rooibos, chamomile, and peppermint such that the peppermint wasn’t overpowering at all but rather soothing to the stomach. Very nice employees and I loved the quaint open atmosphere. Just wish it wasn’t as noisy but what can I say if this place has high ratings on Unilocal

Must say the workers here are very nice and friendly! They bring joy to your morning, and so do their pastries and drinks. I tried their White Velvet Latte, which luckily isn’t too sweet. It had a creamy, milky texture to it, though I wish the espresso was a bit stronger.
The one thing I must highlight is their Kimchi Spam Musubi Croissant. This is seriously a game changer – it’s so good I bought all of it in the morning (there was only 2 so I’m not that bad) and gave one to bf. It’s best you eat it early on while it’s still fresh so you can still get a beautiful taste of the fluffiness and crunchiness from the croissant. I loved each and every bite for you get an equal balance of cheesiness, saltiness from the Spam, slight sweetness from the seaweed and sesame seeds, slight spiciness from the kimchi/​gochujang, and buttery-​ness from the croissant. To sum it up in simple terms, it tasted like a fancier version of a ham and cheese croissant with sriracha – AND I LOVE THAT STUFF.
Really do hope they keep this on their menu because I’m definitely going to buy more in the future… and perhaps make some myself O:)

I’ve had the vanilla and caramel latte here before and both were great. But the hot chocolate was not my favorite. As a milk chocolate fan, it was a but too bitter for my taste, and the small is indeed quite small! Finding a place to sit can also be quite difficult, and all the outdoor seats aren’t balanced so they shake. So if you’re going to have coffee with someone it’s totally fine but they’re not the best tables for working or studying. Its also a but more pricey than neighboring coffee shops.

I find myself agreeing 100% with the 3-​star reviewers. Yes– this café is undeniably quaint and cozy… with shabby chic furniture. BUT the coffee is underwhelming.
My first time here, 3 years ago, was a work meeting with my boss. I ordered a white velvet and thought it was so cool. But it’s really just a sugary latte, with extra sugar.
Whenever I do come here, I always get a café nico. It’s a unique drink that you can only find here at Profeta– and worth every cent.
Recently, I tried their café caramello… which I can’t even explain. How could something with such exquisite latte art taste so crummy?! Don’t get it folks. It’s so MEH.

Hands down best mocha latte in Westwood!
So far I’ve tried the white velvet latte and a mocha latte and they were both delicious.

Personally, I like the mocha latte better because I love chocolate!
They have plenty of tables to study, read, relax and chill. The music isn’t obnoxiously loud and quite relaxing.
** they don’t have plugs for laptop so bring your laptops charged!

Great little place with a quaint outdoor patio and an inviting cozy interior. Keeping it classy and hip at the same time. The beverage choices are abundant; from tea to coffee and all are pretty well made using high quality ingredients. Stop by for a cup today, because friends don’t let friends drink Starbucks.

It’s not that I had a bad experience– it was a nice little morning Coffee date but it’s just way too overpriced and the staff is just… BLAH.
I had their white velvet this time around since so many Unilocalers raved about it but honestly it was just OK.
My boyfriend had the Coffee Nico and it was bitter and orangey but really sweet.
I still love how cute it is though and the general feel, as well as the fact that it’s walking distance from UCLA.

Cute little place to come and grab a coffee when in Westwood.
I love coming here to grab the espresso with hints of orange.
Simple, just follow the rules as outlined when you are placing and paying for your order. It’s not that hard.
Lots of seating inside and outside, so come with some friends and enjoy some great hand crafted espresso.

I’m really glad that they didn’t have this coffee shop when I was an undergrad because I would have no money after coming here. The coffee here is a little pricier, but really good.
I frequently come back to Westwood for alumni events and work and love stopping by here. It reminds me of a European coffee shops, which also means that service can be a little slow. But this is a great place to savor a really great cup of coffee in a cute environment. The outdoor patio feels like you’re in a private garden. There’s always a mix of students, people doing business meetings, a occasionally a real housewife of Beverly Hills, which makes for good people watching.
Free wifi here but you have to ask for the password. Parking can be hit or miss around Westwood. Sometimes I park in the target lot, where there is 2 hours of validated parking, since I always end up needing to buy something from there anyway.

After having a hearty lunch, I decided to check this place out. My buddy told me about this place, and I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype.
Parking took a while, as it was still lunch time in Westwood Village. After about ten minutes, I managed to get a parking spot around the corner. The short walk to here was pretty nice, and I was able to scope out future lunch options.
This coffee shop is pretty small. They have a handful of tables on the inside, and another handful in the outside patio. They have one restroom, and it was clean.
I ordered a café mocha to go. I downed a few cups of water as I waited for my drink.
As I sipped on my latte, I found the taste to be ok. It wasn’t over-​the-​top, but it wasn’t bad either. The taste was pretty smooth, and it was hard to gauge how big an impact the caffeine might have had as I did have a huge lunch just prior to coming here. I will keep it in my list of coffee possibilities.

It has become my favorite coffee shop since I wrote my previous review every time that I go to UCLA.
I’m taking a course at UCLA so I found this place on way down there and decided to try since I needed coffee. First day I tried the cappuccino and it was just delicious. Today I’m trying the latte which is exquisite. I also got the blueberry scone to eat during the lecture. I will definitely come back.

Adorable! So happy I stumbled into this little gem of a café after a grueling night/​morning at the airport. I was tired, hungry, lost, and in desperate need of a spot to replenish myself when I found Profeta. It’s without a doubt one of the top 10 cutest cafes I’ve ever been to: plenty of natural light, earthy color palette decors, fun pieces of art adorning the walls, etc. I ordered the café caramello and spinach cheese croissant and the bill came to about $ 10. A little pricey but holy moly were they tasty! I wonder if the coffee would’ve retained its heat a little better with mugs instead of paper cups but I was way too distracted by the perfectly fluffy croissant. Love the even mix of people studying, meeting, and chatting with one another. Thank you, Profeta, for giving me the energy I needed to continue my day after a red eye!

Very friendly staff and great tasting beverages. The only downside is that there is virtually no parking. But that’s par for the course in Westwood. There is a parking facility across the street, but Profeta does not validate.
Profeta’s cold-​brewed options are fantastic. However, I generally stick to the Café Latte and the Cappuccino.
It’s a two-​man team up front, so the wait can take a while during busy periods. There’s plenty of seating indoors and outdoors as well. However, finding outdoor seating will be a challenge since the weather is generally beautiful.
Par for the course…

I was in the area and remembered how good their coffee was, so I decided to go back and get a mocha. The main reason I’m writing this review is because this is seriously the me best mocha that I’ve ever had! It’s tasty, smooth, and they make it look freaking great (even in a white paper cup lol). If you’re in the area, come and try this place out!

Awesome little coffee shop on the east side of Westwood Village. As other reviewers have raved, I definitely think the best feature of this place is just how good their drinks are. The coffee all tastes amazing and they have some unique drinks I’ve yet to find anywhere else.
The white velvet is my personal favorite, it’s super smooth and just the right amount of sweetness for a nice, sweet drink that’s not too overpowering.
Be aware that this isn’t the best place to study because of a lack of outlets and parking, but if you’re just around the area looking for somewhere to hang out, I definitely would consider Profeta!

S’agissant d’un Café à Los Angeles c’est bien. Je suis allée hier et j’ai commandé un Italiano (expresso court), c’était bon. Relatif au rapport qualité/​prix c’est raisonnable. Si vous connaissez les cafés français et/​ou italiens… là c’est comparer l’incomparable, c’est toute une autre histoire.

The coffee here is phenomenal as many other Unilocal reviewers have noted. The latte here is done very well– silky, smooth with strong coffee taste. The ambiance is beautiful with their garden patio.
The baristas aren’t the friendliest but the coffee is definitely worth the couple minutes of awkward interactions at the register. You order first and pay at the pick up section.

It had been four years since I’ve had a coffee.
That cup of coffee was my first one ever. Ever. I survived pretty much all of college without coffee, which I have to say somewhat impresses me. Going off of less than six hours of sleep with shocking regularity, I’m not really sure how I never really felt temptation to go for a simple cup of caffeinated goodness.
A can of Coke gets me pretty jittery, so when a good friend of mine suggested we get some coffee over the weekend to catch up, I was surprised when I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Usually whenever I go to a Starbucks or something with friends, I always go for the lemonade, hot chocolate, or frappuccino – all options with a noted lack of coffee.
The thing is, I’m a Romantic in many ways, and let it be known that it’s Romantic with a capital R – the other version, «romantic», well, I’ll let others decide if I’m that or not. And something about a nice Sunday coffee meetup with some pleasant conversation with someone you trust just seems so comforting to me. Thus, I knew I had to get a coffee.
I did some pretty extensive research, and it came back mostly inconclusive. All the intricacies of the different steaming methods, milks, and serving sizes threw my mind into a whirlwind of coffee-​induced madness. In the end, I kept to one of my favorite adages, K.I.S.S., and opted to make it as easy as possible: I like chocolate, so go for the one with chocolate. Thus, I decided on the caffe mocha.
Seeing my friend was just really awesome. I hadn’t really seen her for a few months and yet, we were able to pick up pretty easily from where we left off. Walking through Westwood to get to Profeta was wonderful despite the blustery gusts nearly toppling her beanie and ripping through my jacket, and it really set the mood for some nice, hot coffee.
Profeta itself is super quaint and comfy inside. Some pretty odd modern art and murals line the brick-​laid walls, and intimate two and four-​seaters decorate the interior as well as the outside seating.
I definitely was intimidated by the baristas only because it was clear that they had probably forgotten more about coffee than I had ever known in my life; I mean, the guys and gals really knew their stuff and were dropping words like «dollup» on us.
The coffee came out as soon as we were done paying, pretty much, and we were able to get a table next to a really awesome window crossed over with some great green ivy with sunlight streaming through.
My caffe mocha had the good ol’ flower design on top, and I was struck by how sweet and tasty it was with some chocolate shining through the coffee flavor. I definitely didn’t think I would be able to overcome the bitter flavor of coffee I had remembered and heard so much about, but I was more than okay with it. My friend got the Northwest Macchiato, which was pretty small (I think 3.5 oz to my 12 oz) but definitely packing a punch – I would only recommend that if you truly like the bitter coffee flavor profile.
Conversations like these, while I won’t write down much detail, only happen so often. Pretty honestly, one of my biggest fears is losing my memory, whether it be a slow process or a quick one. All these insights and experiences I’ve stored within will be gone, and all the thoughts I’ve shared with others and gained from them will cease to exist – even intangibly so.
And thus, I try to get as many as possible and then I hold onto them. Hold onto them and then, magically, share them. Share my opinions, my feelings, my life. I do strongly feel that if you really connect with others, a little part of you sticks with them and vice versa. This whole butterfly effect really can impart a little bit of positivity – your positivity – across your community and probably much further.
And you can do it all over a cup of coffee. Funny how it took me four years to find out.

I’m a Stumptown girl! But damn this espresso is by far my favorite! Often lattes end up tasting weak but their’s is so bold. You can tell when the layer of foam on top is deep caramel brown. It’s seriously the best latte I have had in a long time! Plus, it’s a cute little place with outdoor seating. Perfect for a coffee date!
