Worst service I ever received in a restaurant. I would love to comment on the food but I never got any after waiting for an hour and a half after my reservation.

We went here for a day-after-Valentines-I-don’t-want-to-watch-cheesy-couples-but-I-still-want-to-have-a-nice-dinner night. The ambience is great. We sat in the pseudo outdoor patio which was not too cold and not too heat lamped and perfectly comfortable and quiet. They offer a 5% off your bill if you check your cell phone at the door which is freaking genius. We watched people go into convulsions because they couldn’t check their Facebook accounts every 5 seconds and then other people automatically reach for their phones every time a dish was set down because they wanted to post a pic of their food on Instagram. Then we laughed at the people who couldn’t even manage to check in their cell phones because they seriously we not using their phones to check on their infant children, but to check-in through foursquare or whatever. We thought the food was delicious. We had the raw oysters, which we absolutely loved. I’m sure these vary so I can’t guarantee these will always be as good but they were awesome. I had the artichoke soup, which was creamy and delicious without having actual cream in it. Not too heavy as to make me feel all bloaty and not hungry for the rest of the meal. We had the duck egg which was totally amazing and has this frothy poofed up sour cream stuff that looks like it should be on a cupcake. I have never had anything like it. If you like eggs, go for this. Also had scallops, but I am a total scallops whore so maybe I am biased or maybe I am an expert, either way I was in scallops heaven. They did not scrimp on these enormous, perfectly griled scallops, and maybe for the first time ever, I couldn’t even finish them. My friend had the tasting menu so the prime beef came with that. She really loved it but I was too full to try. We then had two desserts. The first was forgettable, but the bread pudding was done so perfectly, I still crave it. Perfectly crispy edges and soft and melty insides with creamy caramel on top. Here’s the issues we had: My friend ordered the tasting menu and they forgot one of her dishes entirely. Then when they brought the dessert we realized that was #4 and not #5 so then she got them out of order. I think maybe they gave us the 2nd dessert to make up for that, not sure. We were forgotten about several times. At one point it was 45 minutes between our courses. No one even came by. If we were in Europe, fine, we would have had a bottle of wine on the table and that’s to be expected. But we sat there for 45 minutes with nothing. Our dinner took almost 3 hours. Maybe this is why they have you check your phones. So you lose track of time?

Our server never came back. Took our appetizer order. But we never saw him. our salads and granola was done for a long time. He finally came back after we were glaring at him. There are about 15 tables and three to four servers. And a bunch of buss boys. Food wasn’t bad. Fresh. Mimosas were never empty. Coffees were a little weak for my taste. Meat was delicious. The steak was cooked medium with 2 sunny side eggs. I wished they had something to sop up the yolks. The chicken and waffle was delicious, but not the same as the«R» place — known for their chicken and waffles. However, no bones in the chicken and crispy skin. Philly cheese steak ‘sandwich’ — meat was tender but not as much flavor as I would like, however, the star was the bread. Lightly toasted, buttered and seasoned to perfection. Not sure if I would come back — their prices are a bit pricey + they’re always reserved. I had to book about 2 – 3 weeks in advance. I can’t just pop in and get a table. :)

3 ½ stars is a solid rating for this place. I was invited to join my cousin and his family for his birthday. Was a real treat for me. We arrived on a Sunday night to eat. That night’s meal was 4 courses. An arugula salad, a fish dish, a prime beef skirt steak dish and dessert. You should go to their website and you can download the menu. The Sunday is different from the rest of the week. I found the salad wasn’t bad but could have used hazel nuts. Oh man, hazel nuts would have been perfect with the salad. The fish dish I think was both the nest thing and most disappointing thing at the same time. The fish itself(sole fish) was cooked perfectly. It was well done but not over cooked and its edges were slightly burnt giving it a crisp, crunchy bite. Awesome. Really, awesome. So what was the disappointing thing? The sauce the fish was in had capers and the these with the sauce itself made the dish way too salty. It was heartbreaking. I mean, way too salty. The beef dish had potatoes and some salsa verde. Not a bad dish, but not amazing. Honestly, I remember this dish the least. And finally the dessert we had a lemon bar that was pretty awesome. Really good. What was the best part of Eva? The owners. They are sooooo nice. Just the most amiable couple. Really makes me hope their place succeeds. I don’t know how long the place has been there, but they’re on the right track.

Came here for date night on Friday and had an amazing time. This teeny(and I mean tiny) restaurant is such a gem. The service was excellent and the food was even better. Egg, Cauliflower, Mustard Sabayon, Regianno, Pine Essence — this dish reminds me a lot of Pirates Booty, probably because of the fried cauliflower, this savory appetizer is a great starter Japanese Kampachi, Ginger, Toasted Buckwheat, Yuzu, Tomato Dashi — WOW this appetizer was AMAZING! I absolutely loved the kampachi with the tomato dashi, the flavors play well with one another… the only part that I could have done without was the toasted buckwheat, the texture threw me off since it was so hard and crunchy when the fish was so delicate and tender. Prime Wagyu Beef, Charred Leek, Pickled Sansho Pepper, Bernaise — I really wanted to love this dish(my eyes tend to dart to the word ‘wagyu’ whenever they can), but unfortunately the beef came out pretty dry. Red King Salmon, Roasted Cauliflower, Winter Black Truffle — the salmon is cooked beautifully here because they STEAM it! Crazy, huh? But absolutely wonderful. You really get to taste the salmon because of it. As for the black truffle… I didn’t really get a sense that, that was in there, but the dish was still really good. Pot de Crème — the chocolate was extremely decadent and was well balanced by the whipped cream(and the coffee) Butterscotch Bread Pudding — OMG! I normally despise bread pudding because of the soppy, soggy form it typically takes, but the bread pudding here is amazing! It still has the texture of good bread(that decadent softy, chewy texture). Plus it isn’t overly sweet which makes it so easy to scarf down with little to no guilt. Definitely worth braving crazy LA traffic for.

I had a Bloomspot deal for this place for brunch for 2. What a deal!!! This place is right by BLD but it’s not as crowded or rowdy. It’s has outdoor as well as indoor seating. It was pretty busy when we got there and we sat in the little bar area while we waited. There were a lot of French cookbooks around and I browsed through those as I waited. Our server was very attentive and gave us good recommendations off the brunch menu. The bottomless mimosas kept coming and it was delicious! I think because we came at a later time they already ran out of some of the items on brunch menu, but I was still happy with what I ordered. For starters we got the fruit bowl and granola bowl. The granola was actually really good and didn’t taste like grocery store granola. For the mains we tried the sandwich and a meat dish. The sandwich was SOGOOD. It was so filling too that I was only able to eat half and saved the other half for later. The short rib(?) dish was sooo tender and flavorful. I’m normally not a dessert person, but the dessert was SOGOOD. It wasn’t too sweet and it was the perfect finish to the brunch. I do think this place is a little pricey, but if I could I would eat here more often. The ingredients are really fresh and you can really taste the efforts of the chef. Bravo!

Dined on 2÷12÷12. Located in a lively neighborhood full of restaurants, this place is one of the smaller ones. The service was wonderful, but the place is small and gets packed easily. We sat next to a B-day party and many of the guests kept standing up, blocking the path of the servers. We ended up having to lean away to dodge the plates passing by our heads. The menu did not really explain how the food was prepared, but just listed the ingredients. My burger arrived open-faced with one bun and was in the shape of a meatball. I asked for medium rare, I got well done. The servers were way too busy to notice I was trying to get their attention, so I sucked it up(and ate it blood-free) The dishes we ordered lacked flavor. Judging from the inflow of customers waiting for a table, perhaps we went on the wrong day as they were trying to cater to the B-day party celebration.

*Bar Review* We wandered into Eva restaurant while we were waiting to be seated at BLD. It was like the bar was whispering our names… beckoning us to enter that Sunday morning(don’t judge, we were well within Brunch limitations). The bartender was welcoming and showed us the drink specials. I was quick to see the bottomless mimosas for $ 15, but realized that we would be seated elsewhere in 25 minutes and counting. I opted for the singular $ 5 mimosa… which turned into 2… for $ 10… what a deal! =) We would have stayed for brunch(damn those mimosas were tasty), but nothing appealed to us on the menu. We did make our seating time at BLD, but Eva was an excellent precursor.

How come no one talks about this place?! Eva was such a delight for brunch, I’m shocked it isn’t more crowded like it’s delicious neighbor BLD. The service was VERY friendly, and the ambience was laid back and cheerful. We had the bottomless mimosa brunch for two and felt it was perfect. You get a starter, an entrée and endless mimosas made with fresh squeezed OJ. Only $ 29 per person. Not bad! The food was amazing, too. The breakfast sandwich was thick, and perfectly balanced in flavor. I think the tomato jam makes it. My boyfriend got the fried chicken and French toast and could not stop raving. Even to a vegetarian, the chicken looked pretty good! The kicker? They give you the check in a vintage novel. I love touches like that. I will definitely come back here!

As much as I love daily deal sites, I’ve noticed that most of the time, my experience at restaurants is less than optimal when I’m using a discounted voucher. But Eva was one of the best discounted($ 30 for $ 15 Bloomspot) experiences I’ve ever had. We stopped in for brunch on a lazy Sunday morning. The bf ordered the $ 29 brunch combo with a starter(granola), a main(63 degree duck egg benedict) and bottomless mimosa; that would’ve been $ 42 if he got those items separately. I ordered the fried chicken with french toast. The granola was so tasty. It had the right amount of honey and the organic yogurt was excellent. The fried chicken came in a generous portion and the brioche french toast was good as well. The duck egg benedict was surprisingly bland for all of the goodies it had. Perhaps the hollandaise needed to be a bit more flavorful? I did like the fact that it came with real crab versus krab with a k. I encouraged the bf to make the most of his bottomless mimosa and told him to keep drinking untiI I was satisfied with his Asian glow.

Went for the Bottomless Mimosa and on a great review. Made a reservation using their online site, and they called me back right away the next day to confirm. The weather was beautiful this day, so we took advantage of their tucked-away relaxing outdoor balcony seating. Having never been before, we asked the waiter for his recommendation, who highlighted a few to choose from. I chose Farmer Market season fruit for first course, which was so fresh and sweet, especially with the mint. One of the 2nd course recommendations was the same as what my friend had suggested so we went for it(«Fried Chicken»). Dont shoot me for saying that I think KFC is actually pretty tasty(hehe), so I didn’t know how much better Fried Chicken could actually taste. But I was mistaken: the Fried Chicken skin was JUST crispy enough(not hard like a sheet of candy & not soggy)/lightly salted, juicy and seasoned well. PLUS it comes with deeeelicious French Toast(not over-sweet) and real syrup. The other plate we chose was«Piece of Meat» for the guy. They didnt ask how he wanted it cooked, so it came medium rareish which was exactly how he likes his meat. I tried a bite: Very tender meat, which was rested well so wasnt drippy nor dry. The staff was super polite, did not rush us, even after we finished our respective(and delicious) brunch entrees and were sipping on our beverages. They even offered to refill our mimosas. While sipping we saw there was a bartender mixing up some drinks inside. Tip: If you’ve never been there before(like me), really trust the staff recommendations. take a date for the mimosa brunch. :)

Preface: The boyfriend and I made a reservation for Sunday brunch at 12:45 pm to use our Daily Candy groupon(Sunday brunch for two with unlimited mimosas for $ 34). We were running late because of L.A. traffic(on an f-in Sunday) and the hostess graciously agreed to move our reservation to 1:00 pm. — This earned them one star. Once we arrived at the restaurant at 1:00 pm sharp, the hostess said she gave up our table because we were very late. I let her know that I called to inform her of our 15-minute delay. And then she looked at her computer only to realize she was referring to another guest’s reservation. FAIL. The deal we bought from Daily Candy included two courses(an appetizer and an entrée). I picked the granola with yogurt to start and my boyfriend opted for the fresh fruit. Someone please tell me why it took 40 precious minutes to bring those two things to our table. Did they have to harvest the fruit from a farm? Did my yogurt still have to be cultured? What in the world was going on in that kitchen that it had to take FORTY bloody minutes to prepare two of the easiest starters on the menu?! And how the hell was I supposed to eat my granola with no spoon? A spoon was requested and yet it never came. Our server was also a tad strange. She was friendly and yet kind of sarcastic. She wasn’t really helpful when I asked for suggestions on my entrée. No details on the dishes, just that they’re «a good portion». Thanks, lady. You’re a big help. I am giving them another star for the unlimited mimosas portion of the meal. They got that part right. I wish there was bread served while waiting since their kitchen staff isn’t the fastest breed of food preparers on the planet. The main dishes came after 50 minutes of ordering. Woop tee friggin doo. We thought they’d never arrive. My chosen dish was the goose egg with brown butter asparagus. Its menu price is $ 18. Let me tell ya, it didn’t taste like it’s worth $ 18. It’s basically a big ol’ sunny side up egg that’s about a half inch thick. And the asparagus? It didn’t exist. There were wilted scallions that topped my pathetic looking sunny side up. The last time I checked, scallions are not the same as asparagus. Just sayin’. The boyfriend’s dish was the steak and eggs. He enjoyed it thoroughly and I was pleased when he gave me a big piece(since I was very dissatisfied with my terrible sunny side up). I’ll let him write his own review, but for the portion I tasted, I’ll give Eva half a star. At the end of the day, I think I was happy I didn’t have to pay full price for this meal. The tab was $ 58 for the two of us and we paid $ 0 because of our groupon. The service was sub-par, bordering horrendous. The amount of time to wait for our food was unacceptable. And really, $ 18 for a glorified sunny side up? No, thank you. To Chef Mark Gold: Keep promoting your restaurant using groupons. At this point, I don’t think your food is worth the price you’re charging for them. Groupons are a way to attract Angelenos to patronize your establishment. Just a word of advice — please put your best foot forward when they come and dine at Eva… because this one visit I paid to give your restaurant a try turned out to be a big turn off.

Reading all the reviews, it looks like people come here because of the deals they get on a coupon site. Which was why me, my friend and her roommate came her. Her roommate bought a deal of the day thing, $ 59 for an appetizer and an entrée with unlimted mimosas for two. Sounds great. I’m sure it was, they drank like 4 – 5 glasses of mimosas. Service wasn’t slow, so I would say they got their money’s worth. Me on the other hand didn’t have a coupon, so I ordered from the regular menu. I just had gotten out of a small surgery, and wasn’t feeling too well… mostly nauseous, so I wasn’t that hungry. I got the steak and organic eggs. I’m sure it was good, but I was a fool to think I could recover after an hour after my operation. It was hard for me to eat the steak. But when I forced myself to eat and it settle in my stomach it was pretty decent. It wasn’t salty too much or little. But it literally was like 7 thin pieces of steak, 3 really small potatoes, and 2 eggs. Normally if I was in a better state of mind, that would have been too small and not worth $ 17. Overall, it was decent. Better look for a coupon though.

I was reading some of the reviews and I really don’t understand the hate towards Eva or towards the groupon type discount trends. I went to Eva for Sunday brunch with a bloomspot coupon and I had a great time! I’m really enjoying myself in this kind of small, simple and familial environment. I don’t know what some people are talking about, but there’s nothing pretentious about this restaurant. The service was great and everybody was nice… yes it took some time for the food to come out but what’s the rush? As long as my mimosas never ran dry I don’t care… The food was great! I took one star away only because the first course is sort of a joke… if you don’t have a coupon or some deal for a 2/3/etc course meal and you’re paying individually stay away from this part of the menu. The fruit appetizer is literally a bowl with cut fruit… we got apple, orange and strawberry… that’s something that I fix for myself at home and not a $ 6 restaurant appetizer. Chef Gold, please do something about this! A honey drizzle and some chopped roasted walnuts for instance could totally do the trick. The two dishes we had were gorgeous and tasted amazing. The steak was fairly large and really tasty. It came with two beautifully cooked eggs and roasted fingerling potatoes. Bordelaise sauce was advertised on the menu but sadly didn’t make it to the plate. Instead some tomato based sauce was sitting on the piece of meat. Good, but I wish I had the bordelaise instead. The other dish was fried chicken with french toast… do yourself a favor and get this dish! I swear I never had better fried chicken in my life… incredibly juicy and the crust was perfectly seasoned and crispy. The french toast was also pretty solid! This place is small, cute and had a good vibe. The food was solid and we will be back for sure… most likely to try their sunday family dinner.

Brought a friend here for the bottomless-mimosa brunch amidst the Bloomspot special, had heard good stuff but alas… Food(& ratings): Mine, 1st course: Fruit, in season(3) And quite literally, just three pieces of melon. Mine, 2nd course: Organic tofu, smoked soy, vegetable from garden(3) There was 4 tiny radishes, 2 pieces of mushrooms sliced, and I am assuming the tofu/soy was the(albeit-tasty) emulsion on top of said-vegetables. Friend, 1st course: yogurt and granola(3) Friend, 2nd course: «a piece of meat»(n/a) I didn’t try her dish but her steak looked good, though on the rare side. When: Sunday brunch yesterday Crowd: Mix of young & old = couples, friends gettin’ together Interiors & Service: Cute & quaint interiors. Service was, unfortunately, bit slow at times.

My new go-to bruncherie place!!! This is an adorable little restaurant mid-wilshire. Lovely little deck to dine on in this great so-cal weather takes you away from the hustle of Beverly Blvd. We got a groupon $ 29 for 2 brunches(1 first and one second course each) and unlimited mimosas. AMAZINGDEAL. the normal deal is still good enough that I would pay that anyways(normal deal is $ 29 for unlimited mimosas and one first and one second). It’s not normal that I would leave saying I would willingly pay double what I just did for the food, but it’s that good! The fried chicken was delightful. Crispy outsides, tender meat. Fab. The halibut was a dream. Couched between grilled fennel and radishes, the fish was delicate and had a wonderful sear on one side. The sauce was unique and different, almost indian in taste, with definite hints of tumeric blended in perfectly. Mark Gold came by to check on the food, which was a nice touch on a lovely sunday. Would definitely return for brunch, and want to also try the fried chicken night and the market-to-table sunday supper!

85% Great $ 39, 4-course Sunday Supper with all you can drink wine. ***Short Review Came here for a $ 39 Sunday Supper on Aug ’11. Great Sunday Supper choice, one of my favorites yet. In particular, the risotto seafood paella stood out. Dishes are more on the hearty side with very effective robust flavors. Portions are substantial and the food can be a tad heavy. Supper menu changes all the time. Value is great considering the quality & quantity of food. Pretty decent all you can drink red or white(included in the $ 39 supper) wine didn’t hurt either. Menu seems to indicate there are 5-courses, but one of the ‘courses’ is a side to the main course(so I feel 4-course would be more accurate) Service was great & very personable. Pacing was a little slow in the beginning, but picked up toward the end. I did not get any bread, and it would have been nice if I did. Ambiance is very laid back & comfortable Detailed review will go into more discussion of each dish, as well as my overall impression of the dining experience. ***Detailed Review The cooking here is great. Each dish carried theme of having robust flavors with a straightforward, but solid execution. Quality of dishes were consistent. I felt the ideas were pretty creative yet very accessible to most palates. More traditional recipes might be tweaked with some creative touch, but they worked great every time. For instance, making a ‘Pealla’ with risotto & serving it as stew was a great idea. More importantly the execution was spot on to keep up with the creativity, and do so consistently. Last but not least, the larger than average portion sizes are another plus. I walked out here impressed, completely satisfied, and a little more than buzzed. I can’t ask for much more. The dishes that I had were as follows: ‘Charred Little Gem Salad’ Lemon, garlic, extra virgin oil. Very tasty salad. The Ingredients used were very fresh, and the combination of ingredients were matched well. Flavor wise, what stood out was the char of the lettuce. The greens were cooked nicely. The mild, citrus-like dressing, chives, and the olive oil complemented the lettuce well. Generous tomato slices offered a nice complement of sweet flavors. Very good salad. Dish rating: 80% ‘Risotto Paella’, Our twisted version This wasn’t a more conventional paella, but rather one that resembled more of a stew with ingredients that you might expect from a paella. The ‘paella’ came with risotto, chrorizo, chicken & mussels. It was an excellent dish. The paella had a great broth based sauce. Risotto grain has a pleasant texture. the mixture of well prepared tender chicken, chrorizo(not too salty) and fresh mussels make this a great stew. liberal use of chives are added again. This worked great with my pinot noir wine. It’s a hearty satisfying dish. I wish they sold this by the pound! When I inquired about getting this dish again, Eva mentioned they could make it given that you request the dish a few days in advance. Dish rating 92% ‘Prime Steak Onglet’ Crispy potato, Chimmichuri. ‘Rutiz Farms Organic White Corn. Balsamic, Parmesan, Chilli, + Herbs. This was a hangar steak. It’s prepared medium rare, and was very tender for a hangar cut. The meat quality is very good without any noticeable gristle or excess fat. It is very juicy, and the meat is enjoyable by itself without any sauce. With regards to the sauce, it’s served with a light Chimmichuri sauce and balsamic vinegar. This works great, and comes across as a hybrid between an Italian and South American sauce. It complemented the meat well without obscuring the flavor of the hangar steak. In terms of condiments, it served with wonderful light charred potatoes and corn with sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. This was a very hearty and satisfying steak dish. 85% ‘Expresso Pot De Crème’ This was more akin to a dessert soup rather than a pudding. It’s very light, with a nice subtle coffee flavor. There was some prominent spice or mix, maybe nutmeg, coco-flakes, cardamom, that I couldn’t identify but worked nicely. It’s served in a nice chilled temperature. although portion size was generous, it was a lighter dish. 75%

Went here because of a Travelzoo deal I bought for $ 69. The deal was for two 5-course meal, which at that time I thought was a steal — WRONG! The house turned into a restaurant was very cute and quaint. The staff was really friendly and nice(I think the hostess was the owner’s wife.) When we asked to move to a table in the front instead of the dark back corner they were happy to obliged. So far so good, right? The problem is the kitchen was VERYSLOWFORCUSTOMERSUSINGCOUPONS! The first course took 40 minutes to come out and the second course took equally as long. I understand about spacing out the courses but our dinner literally took THREEHOURS!!! I mean I don’t need 40 minutes in between a small piece of hamachi and ONE stick of asparagus with whip cream on it! When we asked our waiter why it’s taking so long his explanation was that the travelzoo deal was a «special menu» cooked separately from the regular menu so that’s why several groups have come and gone and we’re still waiting for our third course. The food was good but not amazing. For the taste of the food and the discounted price it was worth it. But it wasn’t good enough for me to come back and pay full price off the regular menu. AND the fact that my stomach was off the next morning and my fiancé getting food poisoning sealed the deal for us to NEVERCOMEBACK! And to top it off there are no street parking in the area, it’s permits only so you’ll have to valet. But be careful, the $ 1 with validation” sign posted on the wall of Eva’s restaurant is for the restaurant NEXTDOOR. Eva’s doesn’t validate so you’ll have to pay full price for valet which isn’t that much($ 7). It’s just annoying that they post«$ 1 with validation» in the front of their restaurant and it’s not for them!

On the always busy Beverly Blvd is the tiny house — I mean restaurant Eva. This petit place only has about seven or so tables inside and a few more on the patio. It’s around the size of a Manhattan apartment to give you an idea. I’ve wanted to eat here for a while simply because of how intimate and miniature it seemed. Even though they don’t have much space to play with, I never felt cramped or uncomfortable while eating. They even have a cute little bar and a visible kitchen. I had a reservation on Thursday for 6:30pm and when we arrived only one other table was taken. We were given a small two-seater with a great view of the kitchen. Our server handed us our menus and the busboy cut our bread fresh off the loaf on the table next to us. Eva is a prix fixe only restaurant offering a three course menu and a five course menu. The three course is $ 39 and the five is $ 55. We weren’t dying of starvation quite yet so we went with the three course. The three course menu has six appetizers*, six entrees*, and several desserts. Why the asterisks? Half of the selections cost several dollars extra. Hm, well that narrowed down the menu pretty quickly. To start, I got the Japanese yellowtail(with radish and caper berries). I was expecting to just get a small slice of fish, but yellowtail is one of my favorites so even a small slice seemed amazing. Instead, a big slab of cold, fresh fish was put in front of me. The thick cut of fish was nice and firm and full of flavor. The caper berries gave a great taste to every other bite and mixed surprisingly well with the fish. For my second course I got the poached beef(with spring vegetables, and salsa verde). I usually stay away from red meat because I enjoy my arteries and don’t want them clogging up anytime soon. But coming fresh off an outstanding experience at CUT, I was craving a steak; a big, juicy slab of meat. The meat came extremely thick but only a couple inches long. It was cooked to a beautiful medium rare and topped with veggies. The meat was mouth-wateringly juicy and the salsa gave it a nice kick. The grilled vegetables were nice and pretty filling as well. My grumbling stomach was satisfied after the first course, and completely stuffed after the second course. I thought I was going to explode if I ate anything else. But then we were given our dessert menus and I spotted the lemon pudding cake(with thyme, vanilla, and whipped cream). Almost instantly I found that small, empty section in the corner of my stomach. Yes! I began drooling as if I hadn’t eaten anything in days! The cake was very moist, yet fluffy and the small layer of pudding was wonderful and perfectly sour. I would have given this place a very high four star rating, but one thing happened that instantly knocks the restaurant away from anything above three stars — My sister found a hair in her salad. Dun dun dun. Yes, one of the things that people hate most in the world. Our server was apologetic though and brought out a new salad quickly. Also, her flourless chocolate cake dessert was almost frozen solid. Seriously, we thought about ordering a steak knife to eat it. Maybe this was the chef’s personal rendition of flourless cake? It seemed more like chilled fudge. Even though the place was empty and quiet when we arrived, when we left around 8pm it was packed and extremely loud. It’s expected though, especially in minuscule restaurants like this. The service was was good, our server was great, and the hostess was lovely!
