This was an awful experience. The two beauticians were yelling at each other for who was going to cut my hair. The hair cut was too short, not what I asked for. Then when paying she barely acknowledged me; I handed her cash. She never rang it in their system. I will never step foot in that building again.

I don’t know how this place is allowed to operate under the Fantastic Sams franchise name. I’m new to LA and would visit Fantastic Sams back home for in-between light trims and deep conditions. This place is a little petrifying– it’s sparse and dirty. There was only one stylist on-hand who balanced myself and 3 other clients while I was there. The deep conditioner was fine, though they were running very low on product and the water was freezing. Staring up that dirty dusty ceiling wasn’t all that desirable either. He spent quite some time trying to locate a bottle that actually had some shampoo/conditioner in it. He was also obviously more experienced in men’s cuts. My trim was awful– blunt and straight across. He paid no attention to where my part and my bangs set. I’m lucky it was just a light trim, I would never get a real haircut at this place. He even asked if I wanted it styled(with a scared look on his face) — I was scared at his trimming technique so I opted to leave the salon with a wet head. All in all I was charged $ 25 for the deep condition + haircut. I should have put my foot down and asked for a cheaper haircut since the menu calls for cut and STYLE.

My family and I have been coming here for many years, and without hesitation I could say that this is one of my favorite places to get my hair done. Whether it’s blow dry, a trim, or color. They’re welcoming, nice, and understanding. Jaime, he’s quick and very detailed. He blowdries like no other! Reina and Maggie are so good at what they do, and very good with children. Chong is great and concentrative with her clients. The shop is simple and clean. Many hair places don’t wash hair, and sit you under a drier. The location is convenient and close to where I live. With the prices, the service, and everything else, I only come here :)

Well just had my hair cut. nothing complex… just did layers to remove damaged hair. Pretty easy. I walked in and the guy at the front desk didn’t even acknowledge me until i said hello. No greeting, didnt even asked what i needed. It took one of the hair dressers to ask if i needed something. I said i wanted a deep condition treatment and she said ok shampoo.lol. needless to say i didnt get the treatment. She cut my hair and i asked how much to blow dry straight she said $ 35 which is crazy so i said no just dry it then. Well she blow dried my hair for 2 min and said ok were done. My hair was still wet, couldn’t see the layers. I told her i needed it dried so she put me under the hair dryer machine for 5 more min.lol. i don’t know how they are still in business since they leave their clients have done. On top of that there is hair every where, they half clean and if you look under their stations you’ll see old hair in the cracks of the wall. If you need a non important cut go in but be aware that they will most likely not do a good job. The only thing positive i can say is atleast the stylist lady was nice and smiled.

I’ve been getting my hair cut here for 10 years. It’s cheap and my hair dresser is consistent and knows what he’s doing. If you go here ask for Jamie — he’s excellent.

I have a regular hair stylist, but in between sessions I need to get the sides of my hair buzzed. This was a great place to do that. It was $ 16 for a nice buzz and clean up. My stylist was very nice and pleasant. I would come here again if I needed another buzz.

For some reason, my daughter didn’t want to get her haircut which resulted in 3 failed attempts to our hairstylist — I decided to try Fantastic Sams and soon was about to experience the 4th failed attempt until Esther walked in to work with her lovely pink hair — I immediately knew she was my best option so I basically just said to her… help…she took over, had my 4 year in the chair and did a great job on her hair and even wove in sparkles into her hair — Esther has a wonderful personality and was GREAT with my kid — highly recommended Thanks ESTHER

Horrible!!! I went there tho have my bangs trimmed, she absolutely ruined my hair, some pieces inches shorter that other parts. She was trying to cover her huge mistake by combing my long hair form the back to the front and CUTTHOSE to the length!!! R U SERIOUS??? I asked for a tiny trim, and my whole bangs and cut ruined! I made a huge mistake by going to this place, lesson learned!!! This person shouldn’t even have a cosmo license, cant event TRIM bangs! Oh, and u know what she was telling me when I asked her to just please stop with the further cutting? «Thats a new style!» Really??? Its just a horrible cut, not a new style… pls dont even try to go to this place.

Unreal. My girlfriend and I were getting her car worked on in the area so I wanted to get my haircut while we waited. Being new to the LA area I have never heard of Fantastic Sams. Upon reading the reviews I should have heeded their advice and NOT gone there. After walking in and seeing hair all over the floor(which is what a previous review had said) the lady speedily cut my hair, which would have been fine if she did a good job. She cut my hair in literally 3 minutes. After finishing she put a glob of about ¾ of a cup of gel onto my head to which I can only assume cover her tracks of a crummy haircut. Right when I got home I showered to get the gel out of my hair to reveal the horrendous haircut. I asked for a size 2 buzz on the sides. On my right side there is a HUGE part where she didn’t even seem to notice that she didn’t cut. I cannot stress how crappy of a place this was and how displeased I am with this haircut. The $ 14.95 price that haircut cost does not make up fact that I now have to live with a bad haircut.

Today was the«I can’t take it anymore I’m going to get my hair cut now» day… and like my fellow Unilocaler, I have«recession hair.» So, today was the day Reina cut my hair. She did a good job. I brought a photo and she matched it well. Reasonable, friendly and efficient. What else do you need for your recession hair?

I went here today because of my fellow Unilocalers reviews of what seemed like a serviceable hair cutting place. I had scored a job interview and needed some taming of my locks — basically just a trim to give my outgrown Meg Ryan-esque shag some more body. I’ve got Recession Hair — I used to spend $ 400+ every 8 – 10 weeks for the full-on blonde, highlights and a couture trim. Now I colour it myself and rely on the kindness of strangers to keep my hair«OK» but not«Hollywood awesome». I last had a trim in December and I knew I was in need of some shaping to give my mane some body and pizzaz. I called Fantastic Sam’s and was told, sure, no problem we take walk ins. And they did. I waited less than 2 minutes and had a lady with a pinched face cut my hair. She was just adequate, not great. I had to tell her to cut my hair the same length on either side of the part(uhm, don’t they teach symmetry in hair cutting school?) and finally asked her to stop telling me that if I «blew it dry like this» where she proceeded to frantically roller brush my hair in an 80’s flip — it would look«great»…uhm no. Cut my hair so I don’t have to do anything to it because I’m too busy to mess with a blow dryer. WHY?(Yes she actually asked me why…) Because I’m a swimmer. Just do it, ok? Please? And she did. Kind of. But I left there in 20 minutes for $ 18 including a tip. Of course I went home, washed it and styled it myself(cutting a few strands in the process) but hey, it’s Recession Hair, what more do you want? The pros — Inexpensive and fast. The cons — The brush and comb were not in those jars of alcohol/disinfectant that all salons I’ve ever been to have on the table(Ewww! Is that even legal??) I was never shown the rear view — where was the hand mirror??? Hair on the floor from the previous people piled up behind the chair — and not just at the station I was at… ugh. I won’t go back.

This is the best FS I’ve been to in the LA area. It’s tucked away in a strip mall on La Cienega, so it’s never that crowded. When I come here, I get my hair cut by Reina, a sweet and very competent hair stylist. In fact, I came here this Saturday to get something new. I explained what I wanted — bangs, layers, but keep the length — and she did a great job. It was exactly what I had in mind, and all done quickly! This is my new, go-to hair place(since I have vowed NEVER to return to the FS on Westwood Blvd, review coming shortly).

This review may be kind of cheap in content but it’s only because I’m gonna send you to my profile to look at my pics to witness my awesome hair. The people at my local fantastic sams are nice and 15 bucks for a guy’s cut is about 5 –10 dollars cheaper than most places. but if any pretty ladies out there has the hankering to cut my hair send me a message and I can use that andrew jackson on some drinks for us ;)
