Stick to the big name companies. The money you think you save using FlightCar is coupled with terrible service.
For starters, they tacked on a daily ~$ 20 insurance fee because I’m under 25 years. Would’ve been nice to know that ahead of time. Instead they told me that as they handed me the keys.
Ended up realizing I wasn’t going to need the car for the entirety of the 5 days I scheduled it. I called customer service the day before, asking if I’d get a partial refund for bringing it back early (otherwise I would’ve just kept it the full time), the guy on the phone assured me that I would at the station upon return. I repeat the question, he confirms it again. I then took my car to the station a day early and asked for my refund for that day. They looked at me like I was crazy. «We can’t give refunds at the stations,» they told me. I was told by them to go back and contact customer service. This time I had a different person on the phone that told me the it’s against company policy to give refunds. Realizing my exasperation, she gave me an email address to contact. Would you believe it, they promise to respond «within 24 hours.» It’s been five days…
A company that can’t keep it’s own employees up to date on their own policies is not one to trust with your business. If you have any issue with using a FlightCar rental, and let’s be honest, most likely you will, you’re going to have a fun, hopeless time dealing with their customer service.

I’ve rented from FlightCar in the past year. I had mixed feelings since then since it was a hit and miss at times. But during this last rental session, everything was wayyyyy much better. The service has definitely improved from pickup to drop off. I am glad I gave them another chance!

Had a very pleasant experience with FlightCar. We didn’t realize that we needed to take the shuttle to the cell phone lot before we called them for pickup, so took a little more time initially than we expected.
However, everything went great after that. Nick Rock helped us check in and made the process very smooth. We returned the car this morning and check out was also very speedy and easy.
Would definitely rent from again — much painless as compared to other car rental places we’ve used in the past!

Just horrible, got into an arguing match with one of the Sales Manager. So unprofessional, I prefer Turo.

I chose to rent from FlightCar due to the fact that they have low rates and rent to people 18+. Ecstatic to get a cute little Fiat 500, I left the facility (about a $ 8 Über if you don’t want to wait for their towncar from the airport) and started cruising along. It was about 20 minutes in I realized they rented me a car with a headlight out and didn’t check it prior to me leaving. Normally I would have thrown a fit considering I was half way across LA at this point but I held it together and went back to return it. Upon arriving I could tell that the only employee (that did rental not maint.) was very busy. Now I know this doesn’t sound like a 5 star review, but the customer service I received was outstanding. Mr. Nick Rock was juggling at least 3 different parties on top of me coming in with the headlight issue. He remained calm and collected through the whole thing, somehow managed to get me a nicer car, and did it all with a smile on his face. I applaud his dedication to the customers needs and how well he handled stress. So that is why I am giving FlightCar a 5 star review because not only did they provide me with inexpensive transportation (even if the first one did have a small issue), but they handled the issue and got me on my way as fast as he possibly could.
Update***
I was concerned about the deposit I put on the car not getting refunded (because I’m impatient) and they assured me it had been sent. Very professional customer service.

They have yet to screw me over as a renter. Smooth drop offs, pick ups, and service. Nick Rock took care of me and had me on my way in less than 5 min.

Warning:
If you’re from outside the US (including Canada), they will charge you premium insurance (their highest ‘extra’ coverage) when you’re at the station. Because they pre-​charge for your reservation, this gives you no choice but to pay it or to throw away your rental cost and waste more time finding a car. This is an extra 18 dollars a day. Sneaked on in their policy:
«If you are under 25 or have a foreign license, you may be required to show us proof of insurance, or to purchase the FlightCar Premium Damage Waiver.»
Maybe it’s my fault I missed this, but apparently Wayne from Headquarter says this means:
«If you’re under 25 you have to show proof of insurance. If you’re from outside the US, you have to buy Premium insurance» He says, as he is Flightcar’s official and final word — even though LAX Flightcar manager Raul says I should call HQ for a refund– this line is meant to be read as two separate statements.
As for those from the US this still applies:
Their policy wording allows them to give you any car they have on hand, so you can never actually reserve the proper size you need, ie. if you need a large vehicle for luggage, you can end up with a smaller car, and a non refundable rental charge.
The car I got was a 2007 civic that was horribly old and damaged, what I speculate is that the owner hopes that the renter will get into an accident to have it written off, or have repairs done to the car on someone else dime. The air/​vent system had mildew smell, the chairs were gross, and interior uncleaned. I’m pretty sure I saw some pictures of the car on some negative review on here before as well. I wish I listened, what were the chances of getting the same car.

This is my review as lister. Left my car for four days. Got picked up pretty quickly from their driver. Nick Rock was quick with getting me processed out and was very friendly. Would recommend!

Kevin was awesome! I was in crunch time and he got me out quickly so that I could make my flight. Great experience overall
I also got a free upgrade to a luxury sedan when I showed up. There were no problems at all.

I’ve used flightcar here and there throughout the years and it’s always a good value. I drive up from
OC to LAX over John Wayne specifically for this and to save on parking. Every time has been a good experience. Even when there was any small issue it was fixed immediately. Checks come which aren’t much, but I usually only take short trips and hey it pays for gas so that’s just a bonus to me. Kevin helped me out today and was polite, professional, and easy going. He should get a promotion! Even though he’s from Philly he knew more about the local area than me and I’ve been in so cal all my life! Just do it if you’re thinking about it. It’s a great idea that just needs to be in more airports so I can use it for the places I go to

They broke their contract after I was on the monthly program and they they just started renting my car under a new contract without my permission. Coincidentally the new contract didn’t involve paying me so they got a free car.
Now I get to go through litigation with these law skirting jackals.
The idea is still good. Just needs to be run by someone with ethics. Reporting to BBB as well. Apparently they have a bunch of reports out that take time to affect their rating.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

This is getting worse… I emailed the manager who responded on Unilocal to my review, and haven’t heard back — it’s been a week. I even sent them a personal Unilocal note making sure that they’ll be on a lookout for my email.
Spoke with a customer service supervisor Marissa. She promised to handle the issue, but again, didn’t give me a timeline and said «if you don’t hear back, call us again.» Seriously? I called 4 times already! It’s almost not worth my time, yes, they still owe me over $ 70, but I’m thinking of giving up on them and just not give them my car anymore…
My biggest frustration is with the attitude of the customer service and lack of follow up. I should not be calling them 4 times, someone should be following up with me and giving the update.

These are the only guys I rent with when I fly into LAX. Especially being under 25, they don’t gouge you with extra fees and insurance which can jack up prices fast. For the same or less than the major brands, I can get into a nicer and newer car. Sedans with these guys versus compacts with Hertz/​National/​Enterprise etc.
Had Glenn (I think that was his name) check me out me today, they must have changed up their check in process because this time I didn’t even have to go inside the building. My car was already waiting for me in their driveway and I just signed on an iPad and drove off.
Give these guys a try, small player in the rental car game but I’ve only had good experiences.

I’ve used FlightCar in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Boston. To be honest, I’ve never had a GOOD experience with them, but I kept trying them out because I hoped the company would mature and iron out the kinks. Sadly, it only gets worse and worse.
Recently, I returned from a trip and was horrified to discover that MY CAR WAS MISSING. It took a full day (and dozens of desperate phone calls) to finally convince FlightCar to return MY OWN CAR to me. An overwhelmingly horrible experience. I can’t imagine a worse mistake than losing your clients’ cars.
On previous occasions, Flight Car had lost parts of my car (shocking, I know) and tools that I left inside my car.
Of course, after this experience, I will never use FlightCar in any city again.

DO NOT USE FLIGHT CAR BE AWARE !!!
I’ve dropped off my car couple times with them and the first two times everything was perfect.
the last one was not so good and made me regret dropping off my car.
I dropped off my car in September 4^th and picked it up on October 15^th, 2015.
I waited 1 hour 30 min upon arrival where i was getting text from flightcar telling me that my driver was arriving. after that they simply texted me telling to get a cab and that they would refund me on the spot (which did not happen).
anyway after 2 almost two hours of wait i pick up my car and just drive off.(i just had a 15 hours flight from Asia)
once driving home i check my car and realize that i had dents on my front bumper, rims and the interior was disgusting with food in the cup holder and some stains that does not come out on my speedometer.
my car is pretty much brand new and I’m a clean freak.
the same day OCT 15^th, 2015 i emailed them with all the pictures details etc. and they offer me $ 150, which does not cover the front bumper paint.
So i ask them to check with their supervisor which took them till FEBRUARY 4^th of 2016 where they finally decided to reply telling me that all the scratches were normal wear and tear and that they would not be able to pay for anything, not event cleaning !!! like really ??
The all process was horrible, several agent took care of me so I had to explain the problem over and over again, Jeffrey Thomas (latest agent taking care of me)
Was suppose to email me back on January 17^th but never did !
now check the pictures and tell me if overtime you take your car you get this type of damage on it.

Overall experience was just ok, less than decent.
I rented a car from Flight Car LAX during one of my visits to los angeles. Firstly, getting to the LOT C to get picked up was a troublesome process as the instructions were unclear and the shuttles that take you to LOT C are infrequent. The actual process of getting the car when I arrived at the office was quick and simple. The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, there was only ¹⁄₈ (a bit less) of gas in the car (2014 Kia Soul) which was frustrating because it wasn’t enough for me to just take the car and go. Which you would expect after a long flight.
Secondly, the car’s engine oil light was on around 5 minutes after driving off from the office. I was not bothered to drive all the way back as it was very late at night and I was already really tired from a long flight from London. I expected better inspection as the oil should have been checked before hand.
Thirdly, on my third day of rental the manager called me telling me I had to return the car immediately as the owner was coming back earlier. I understand that this is not really the fault of Flight Car but it was a real inconvience to me as a renter. I demanded that they bring a car to my location because I was not going to drive back to LAX. The manager Raul did and was very accomdating given our situation.
Fourthly, because I technically returned the car and rented another car, the system charged me $ 40 for late fees. I was confused why I was charged a late fee when I did nothing. This was promptly refunded as it was a clerical error and the money was returned 1 week later. This was frustrating on my part because I was genuinely confused and it seemed like nobody addressed it until I pointed it out to the manager.
Fifthly, my deposit of $ 500 was not returned until roughly 3 – 4 weeks later. This was after I emailed them about the delay twice. I am not happy with the lack of follow up that Flight Car provided in this aspect.
Conclusion, the service as a renter is ok. The prices are decent as they are quite low. However, it is definitely not as professional as any of the other car rental places. Although, the staff is generally really nice (especially Kevin who served me at the desk), it does not excuse the inconvience and uncertainty of the service. The car you get maybe really clean or really dirty, it really is a gamble.
But it is to be expected at such low prices.
RECOMMEND: solo renters who do not have strict time constraints

My experience with Flight Car was nothing less than great. I did everything with a staff member named Glen, who was so helpful, polite, and quick. Glen answered all of my questions, helped me with my luggage, and ensured the entire process was short and smooth. Overall a great guy with excellent customer service.
Also, when I got back my car was actually in better condition than I had left it. While I was gone Flight Car had vacuumed and washed it for free! Glen helped me again when I got back, and he was once again very easy and pleasant to work with.
Finally, the gentleman who dropped me off at the airport was also very kind and professional, a good driver who took the time to get me there safely and drop me off at the right gate.
The staff, services, and integrity of the company were solid, and I would not hesitate to recommend these guys or use them again :)

They ended up taking care of my car damage and Rahul delivered me a Mercedes Benz while it was in the shop. Overall he remedied the situation well. Thanks Rahul.

After numerous calls and emails I did receive a refund.
I wish this place had it together better as it is a great idea.
I just wish that they had better systems in place and better customer service.

Don’t ever EVER leave your car with Flightcar! My car was involved in a hit and run by the renter on ⁹⁄₂. I returned from my 15hr flight on ⁹⁄₉ and they told me the car rental was accidentally extended. I pressed for more info and tried to push a tired looking replacement vehicle on me. An hour later finally find out that vehicle is in a tie yard. I didn’t know the details until I received a letter from the police and called the police and tie yard to find out what happened to it.
Flightcar gave me $ 30 a day for rental vehicle reimbursement!!! and still haven’t reimbursed for the first one$&&@&. Absolutely no procedure on how to handle the payout for my totaled vehicle. 3 weeks later not even an inspection report. I get the runaround whenever I call. DON’T USE FLIGHTCAR, it’s not worth the risk!
