GeekTek founder and CEO Eric Schlissel has been a tech guru from the time he learned how to read. It’s in his blood. Eric attended Stony Brook University in New York and started with a major in computer science. Eric quickly realized that he was much more interested in how computers affect people and was not getting this from computer science books. He was able to marry the two passions by changing his major to anthropology and freelance technology consulting for hands-​on, practical experience. Eric came into his own while freelancing. He loved working with people to solve technical problems and started his successful entrepreneurial career before he earned his degree. With the increasing importance of social media on the web his degree in anthropology has played a large role in his success with several of his startups, including Talent Pages, Omotion and Social Platform.

After 13 years, Eric still thrives on two things: problem solving and working with people.
