I’ve been meaning to leave a review for about a year now but since I just ate there yesterday I made it a mission to leave a review today because my food was amazingly great. This place is phenomenal! I never, and I mean NEVER really liked pupusas but after trying them here I’ve fallen in love! I usually pick up a few and it takes a few minutes to have them made but they taste like they are made fresh to order! All their food is divine but the shrimp and cheese(camaron con queso) pupusas are hands down my favorite and the beans and cheese ones are delicious too! Best of all is they are so cheap! The workers are friendly and accommodating as well. I can’t recommend this place enough, best pupusas I’ve ever had the privilege to eat!

I love the pupusas they have here. I have ordered the cheeses pupusas as well as the chicharon and revuelta and let me tell you they are Sooo good. The price is reasonable the only down side is that they are small, but for the price you can beat it. I would recommend this place deeply and they have a grade«A» which great. Its a little on the small side but I usually take my food to go.

I drove past this place for 5 years till I finally decided to try it not knowing I was 6 months away from moving out of the area. First impression I got when I walked in was definitely«hole in the wall». The décor needs some work for sure. There’s also a giant display of health products and medicine in front that will throw you off. The paint on the walls looks like someone offered to paint for free. Not a whole lot of space either. Menus need to be updated, both on the walls and the one handed to you at the table. If you let all these things go(and trust me, you Should) you will find that the food is the real deal. The pupusas are some of the best I’ve had. They don’t skimp on the filling and have many great options. You can’t beat the revueltas for only 99 cents, but the shrimp and spinach pupusas are what kept me coming back. Sadly we only enjoyed this place and many of its great dishes for a short while. After 3 months of disappointing pupusas in the San Pedro area we had to come back to our favorite Salvadoran restaurant. The food was exactly what we were missing.

Ok I’m a different Alex M. :) Not the same guy as first reviewer. Ok here’s what I thought. This place is very good. You have to review this place for what it is, a pupuseria in a latino neighborhood. You can’t use a word like ambiance here. It’s a pupusa joint people. And a good pupusa joint at that. If you want ambiance you go check out some overpriced restaurant in West LA. Whenever I check out a pupuseria I haven’t been to. I order the basics to see if they got it down. And the basics are two types of pupusas, queso con loroco and chicharron con queso, tamale de pollo and yucca con chicharron. If those are delicious, which they are here. Then they’ve passed my test. Kind of sad that some reviewers would knock down two stars because of ambiance? Oh brother. At the very least they should have gotten 4 stars. I’m giving them 5 because the pupusas and even the tamale de pollo are only a buck each, all the time. Not just on certain days like other pupusa joints. And they don’t skimp on the fillings like you would think. The place is kinda big too, plenty of places to sit and chow down. In El Salvador when you’re traveling on the public buses between towns there are roadside vendors cooking pupusas in the street. You’re lucky if you can find a tree stump to sit down on. lol Here you can sit down, enjoy your pupusa and enjoy the ambiance in your mouth on your tastebuds. ;)

Small hole-in-the-wall El Salvadorian restaurant in the Mt. Washington area. Like the other reviewer said, if you’re looking for ambience, go elsewhere. However, if you’re looking for cheap but tasty food, this is perfect. I got a delicious cheese pupusa for 99 cents! Also, a bowl of their chicken soup is huge and is made with chicken and huge chunks of carrots, and other vegetables. It comes with sides of onions/cilantro, rice, and tortillas. You can tell everything here is authentic and handmade.

Genesis is a great place to get a cheap and delicious taste of El Salvador. The pupusas are excellent, filling, and only cost a buck! The negatives definitely go in the ambiance category of which there is none. The place looks a bit on the ragged, disorganized side, but hey you get what you pay for and at Genesis it’s all about the food.
