What the heck happened to this food truck? It’s completely disappeared. I tried calling the listed phone numbers and the joker who answers claims to not know what I’m talking about. He was sketchy-sounding too(I asked, «is this 310−721−0260?» «I don’t know,» he replied). I’m just disappointed I never got to try it while it was around.

It’s fancy okonomiyaki time!(Japanese pancakes) I had the Bad Samaritan, which was both delicious and clever.(Samaritan is their veggie-tofu offering. to make it bad you add bacon). Would definitely check this out again.

If only my schedule permitted me to stalk this truck like crazy… I would. After about two months of hearing about this truck and conflicting schedules, I finally got to try okonomiyaki once again!(The last time I had it was at the commons in my university.) I had the«Bad Samaritan,» which is tofu, cabbage, ginger, corn, artichoke, and bacon. Say what? What a strange combination. But let me tell you, okonomiyaki is a strange food. A strangely delicious food. The $ 8 pricetag may seem a tad bit steep, but it’s well worth it. I also sampled my boyfriend’s creation of chicken, soy rizo, provolone cheese, jalapeño, and corn — which I thought was a very odd combo… But no, it still tasted mind blowingly delicious. Is it impossible for them to make a terrible tasting okonomiyaki? I think yes! My only complaint is that the soda cans were a bit dirty, but nothing a good ol’ wipe with a napkin can’t fix. I’m definitely tracking them down once again when given the opportunity. I was actually surprised there was no line(everybody else was over at The Grilled Cheese Truck.) Could it be because nobody knows what okonomiyaki is? If you’re one of those people that err on the side of caution, just take a leap of faith and try it. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Friendly staff, delicious food, amazing experience. Five stars all around~

I had the«Bad Samaritan» for my lunch today, which is the«Good Samaritan» with bacon. Full of tofu, cabbage, pickled ginger, yellow corn and artichoke, this is the best okonomiyaki I’ve had since that little tent outside the shopping arcade in Osaka. I’ve had some bad okonomiyaki since that trip to Japan. Too salty, too rich, texture like curdled sour cream, undercooked, etc. Glow Fish is none of those things. The texture is perfect, the lightly seasoned batter cooks up to a consistency less toothsome than an omelet but not mushy. The cabbage is fresh, as are the other ingredients. The bacon added a smoky saltiness that I found to be a great addition to the delightful ginger, artichoke, and corn flavors. The sauce was a little too strongly flavored, but was judiciously applied so as to not be too overpowering. My only complaint was that a few of the artichoke leaves were too fibrous to be eaten and I ended up having to remove them to my napkin after chewing futilely for a few minutes. Other than that I can give Glow Fish two thumbs up without hesitation!

I was downtown this weekend with my kid for the Oshogatsu festival at the Japanese-American National Museum and by mid-afternoon I was starving and grumpy. But with all the crowds that day and the added complication of my GIANT stroller, there was no way I was getting into one of the tiny Little Tokyo sushi bars. Enter Glowfish Truck! I could just keep my stroller on the sidewalk and eat there, so problem solved. Anyway, I don’t know much about food, but I know that when I bit into that pancake thing, I said, «HOLYSHITTHAT’S GOODFOOD.» And it was. Really nice guys(and a girl) staffing the truck, and awesome convenient food. I shall seek you out again, Glowfish. You is yummah.

Just what your lookig for when you are hungry and want some delicious japanese griddle cakes I’ve ever had. It was late in the evening and I needed something to eat, Glowfish came to mind so I pulled off the freeway and boy I was happy I did. I was lucky I had an app on my ipone that gave me food truck locations. Glowfish for griddle cakes, you can’t go wrong.

Glowfish Truck would get a 5 for its delicious food, but after today’s performance, it’s getting a 3. And that makes me really sad. Today was cicLAvia, and it was AWESOME. Around 2pm we stopped by the truck across from Macarthur Park, and literally waited 30 minutes for an order of chicken okonomiyaki and chicken teppan-yaki. 30 minutes is far far far too long to wait for 2 items, from a truck. Granted, they were not simple items(well, 1 wasn’t). But still. In the end, delicious, but if I had known how long it was going to take, I would have eaten at the Spring Street BBQ Truck next door.

I had never heard of the Glowfish truck or of Okonomiyaki before, but they both came highly recommended. No less an authority than Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold claimed this was some of the finest Okonomiyaki in LA, so when the truck was in my area, I had to pay a visit. What is Okonomiyaki? I lived in Japan for 6 months many years ago and never came across it. Basically it is a savory pancake or griddle cake often made for festive occasions. People sometimes refer to it as Japanese pizza because of the general flat shape and because you can select a wide variety of ingredients to go in and on your Okonomiyaki. Basically, you first choose an essential meat ingredient. I’m told that shrimp and pork are the traditional choices, but I also had the salmon, which was very good. The shrimp was still better. For accents, I usually go with more Asian ingredients like scallions, ginger, kimchi, and bonito flakes. You can also get more creative and go with options like bacon and provolone. A Japanese mayo and special soy-based sauce are drizzled on top. The end result is a good-sized tasty meal. Definitely a good value for the money and you won’t find something of this quality anywhere else. They also have Teppan-yaki skewers with rice and salad, which are also available in half orders(and are still pretty big). The staff are friendly and helpful, the truck is clean and the kitchen professionally run. Your food is served in a high-quality reusable plastic container(complete with a «fortune» on the personalized label). Everything about this truck says quality. The only negative is that because each order is custom-made, the wait time can be a little long. But well worth it.

OKONOMIYAKI! The word is Japanese for, giant pancake of awesomeness! If you’ve never had it before, it honestly is a big savory pancake filled with meat, vegetables and pretty much anything else you can think of. I’ve had okonomiyaki at Gaja down in Lomita but that location is incredibly far away from where I live. After trying Glowfish, I’d have to say that this is the best okomiyaki I’ve had in the US. The first reason is how well and evenly they cooked it. Both sides were evenly cooked so there weren’t any ‘partially burnt on one side/undercooked on the other’. Granted, when I went to Gaja I had the DIY so I have no one to blame but my own horrible cooking skills. still though, I can imagine cooking a giant pancake of meat/noodle/vegetables isn’t the easiest thing to do. Secondly the sauce that’s drizzled on top, not the mayo but the light brown sauce, doesn’t overpower all the other flavors of the pancake. Glowfish gives you a choice of meat and then multiple options to put in your okonomiyaki(up to 4) so for mine I had the chicken with provelone cheese and egg noodles on the inside and kimchi and pickled ginger on the outside. Taste = welcome to flavortown. The price is fairly reasonable considering the size and how so many other food trucks totally overcharge. All in all, Glowish serves a great okonomiyaki

I had never of Okonomiyaki before today’s truck excursion, but by the second bite I knew that this was gonna be a 5-star truck. Friendly, inexpensive. creative and delicious, my meal was absolutely flawless. I can see why 13 of the first 14 reviewers agreed on the 5 stars. Okonomiyaki is a a Japanese griddle cake, and while it is shaped like a pancake, it has nothing else in common with it. When you order you choose your«essential» and four«abstracts». the essential is the protein – I chose scallops amd the abstracts are various topping/condiment/accents, I decided to go with the ginger, mocho, scallions and the old Japanese favorite — provolone cheese. It was awesome. The provolone melted and fused into the other ingredients better than any grilled cheese you can imagine. The whole thing was topped with«exalted» sauce and a green seaweed powder called«laver». Forgive the hyperbole, but this was so awesome I could eat it every day. The whole thing came to $ 7.00 plus a buck for a Diet Coke. For a dollar more, I could have added bacon. That probably would have been even more perfect. Gourmet Food Truck #180 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in «So Cal»

I feel like this review is really not up to par to the Glowfish Food Truck standards. As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t come up with a Haiku for how delicious and great this food truck is. Glow fish is not your typical Japanese food truck. You’ve already accepted the fact that you can get good sushi off the side of the truck with Fish Lips and the other sushi joints. Glow fish on the other hand explores some Japanese deliciousness in the form of griddle cakes. I’m not white so I don’t typically crave mayo, but for some reason tasting the mayo laced on this Okonomiyaki made me crave more of it like a vampire in a blood bank. Now you may be confused on what a bespoken essential is, but don’t worry, it’s just the protein that you’re going to have with this griddle cake. It’s original. well, I guess not really original if you’re from the land of the rising sun. Then this would just be considered a typical meal. Much like how in China they don’t call it Chinese food. But you get my point that this is fairly original for the sake of getting something like this off the side of a food truck. No matter how fusion crazy the trucks are getting these days, this is still something to be tried and enjoyed at all cost. Something new and well worth the lack of wait time you’ll face with their excellent and zen like service.

Yes, I too have been wooed by the Okonomiyaki at the Glowfish Truck. I was kicking myself for not taking the plunge earlier, as I’ve passed by this truck several times on my lunch walks down food truck row at Miracle Mile. The guy at the window did an awesome job of explaining to me how it’s done. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! I ended up with a hearty $ 7 street snack featuring: –Salmon –Kim Chi –Soy Chorizo –Artichoke –Scallions I was pleasantly surprised with the sturdy plastic container it came in(a reprieve from the standard paper boat and wax sheets you expect from these trucks). It even had a personalized affirmation on the lid. something about a «loftiness of spirit.» Point is… everything about Glowfish makes it standout as a true gourmet street food player amongst the many wannabes.

I got a okonomiyaki with salmon, egg noodles, scallions and ginger. The sauce on top is fantastic(Worcestershire but fruit and veggie-based?) and it was a hit with the people who tried it at my office too. I didn’t know about GlowFish and don’t generally order food at food trucks, but I would definitely get something else at GlowFish again. Five stars.

OMG my okonomiyaki was amazing. I ordered the shrimp and bacon okonomiyaki with bonito flakes on top. This tasted just like the okonomiyaki I had when I lived in Japan for a few months. The portions are huge, the sauce and mayo combo is yummy and the people working the truck were really nice. I will be visiting this truck often to have more okonomiyaki and to try the other dishes as well.

I hate to break their 5 star streak because the guys in the truck are super cool and have an original menu so I def wish them luck but I wasn’t in love with my okonomiyaki. I can’t believe the other reviews don’t mention how rich and heavy the okonomiyaki is, it might have been 4 stars if I was crudo and ate it in recovery mode but for lunch it didn’t hit the spot. I’ll give them another chance but won’t be ordering the okonomiyaki next time.

I cannot wait to happen upon this amazing food truck again soon. I have tried it twice now, first I had the okonomiyaki with chicken and beef, everything about this is so delicious. The special sauce on top is so good. The second time I tried the chicken teppanyaki with miso plum sauce, apple-ginger mix salad and rice pilaf, so yummy! Their portions are large, the packaging is great and its reusable which makes it easy to take what you didn’t finish and save it for another great meal later. The staff is super friendly and very helpful with recommendations! I highly recommend their food and can’t wait to try it again!

I attended an art exhibition with a friend recently, and these guys were conveniently parked near the entrance. When I started getting a little hungry after a while, I remembered the big black truck with the blowfish on it and decided to give it a try. I made a really good decision. I am in love with Japanese cuisine and was really excited and surprised when I learned they served Okonomiyaki, which is generally unheard of in Los Angeles, and even more scarce in many Japanese restaurants here. The guy who took my order was genuinely friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients and the history of what we were eating, and as a Japanese food enthusiast, it made me respect them even more. It was neatly packed in a cool tupperware like plate and was steaming when I opened it. I ended up getting my Okonomiyaki topped with beef, bacon, scallions and nori and it was THEE best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had it quite a few times. The guys in the truck we’re all really funny and great and it added even more to the experience. Definitely going back to them in the future!

Wow. For truck vendor food, this is as good as it gets. I got the lobster okonomiyaki is excellent. The lobster is fresh and delivered in huge chunks. The names of the dishes make ordering a little intimidating, but once you try it, you will be an immediate fan. Wow, this is street food at its best.

The smells emitting from the Glowfish truck = amazing… always the mark of an excellent food truck! I had the tofu teppan yaki which was perfectly cooked, filling, and came with a few delicious sides in a lovely sturdy container(complete with bright fork). The salad dressing was beyond amazing– it’s a good thing I wasn’t the one pouring it on my salad, otherwise it’d be drowning in it. It really was *that* delicious. The bottom line: great prices, great food, great service! Definitely worth a drive across town.
