Good Eggs

I am/​was so sad to hear that Good Eggs has closed in Los Angeles. I love Good Eggs!!! The quality of the food, the amazing customer service, and the convenience of having everything delivered to your door is amazing.
However, in my frantic search for a Good Eggs replacement, I recently discovered that there is another service — Farm Box LA — that provides much of the same items from Good Eggs delivered to your doorstop. I tried Farm Box LA this past week and can highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Good Eggs replacement. Here is the website:
They have fewer items than Good Eggs, but they have all of the essentials and you can select and choose among the many wonderful fruits, veggies, and artisanal goods. And what we tried was delicious. When we ordered last week, they only did delivery on Sundays, but it appears that may be about to expand to other days of the week. (I suspect they save money by doing deliveries on Sundays when traffic is less intense, which makes complete sense. In any case, Sunday deliveries are fine with me! I was simply so happy to find another service similar to Good Eggs in the LA area. The departure of Good Eggs has made me realize how important it is to support high quality services like this. I am planning to make Farm Box LA my new best friend.)
At any rate, while I am disappointed Good Eggs has discontinued service in Los Angeles, I am glad that Good Eggs is continuing service in San Francisco and I will hope for their success in the Bay Area.
In the meantime, hello Farm Box LA!

Good eggs! What happened??? I was totally bummed when their LA service shut down for a while. When they announced their return, I was so excited and ordered right away. But I was really disappointed with the quality of the produce I received. Most of the fruits were not fresh. The strawberries were already starting to mold and the heirloom tomatoes had mold on them. I contacted them right away and received a credit. So their customer service is still on point. Figuring it was probably a fluke, I ordered the following week. Same scenario. The fruit I ordered showed up and was clearly old. For the price you pay, this is just not ok! I haven’t ordered since. I was a devoted customer, always happy with the produce. But can’t say that I am anymore and this saddens me so much! Good Eggs, please bring back the fresh produce!

I was a huge supporter and used them for a long time but with every order I grow more and more disappointed. They also make it really hard to cancel altogether as they will charge me $ 4.99 for the most recent packaging which has to be returned — via another order. If you use their service you must pay careful attention to quanitity descriptors. Unless a specific weight is provided, assume it is going to be wayyyy smaller than you expect. Items identified as a «bunch» (for example) are crazy tiny. Translates into outrageous pricing.
I use them because I want them to pick out the same quality produce I would pick out from a farmer’s market. But more often than not, I find I am getting remnants. Most recently, I received an order of blood oranges that were hard and green. I sent a note to customer service and their reponse essentially insulted me, saying their farmer is great and I am wrong oranges can often be green. Citrus does not ripen off the tree. Green in color is one thing, they were hard as a rock. A month later, they went from hard green to rotten. I did try one before it rotted and it was tart and underipe and awful. I ordered fish which was fishy. It was not properly flash frozen and it was in a home-​vacuum bag, not a commercial one. When I pointed out this could be the reason why it was fishy, they again got defensive about their amazing mom and pop fish supplier. There are plenty of places to get wild sustainably caught seafood that is actually good. This was no excuse. On a positive note, they do have a few items that I would have to drive quite a distance to get. None of those items are farmer’s market items But at this point, I would avoid all their produce due to both price and quality. I also will not order the fish.
With Amazon Fresh rolling out to all prime members and Instacart now delivering Whole Foods, I would say this company’s days are numbered.

THEY’RE BACK! They were gone for a few months due to a paperwork snafu. I suffered so much in their absence, and was so ecstatic to get the e-​mail today that they’re delivering again, that I had to come update my review. Like, seriously: my life was more stressful without Good Eggs; I cooked hardly at all and ate a ton of unhealthy food I wouldn’t have eaten otherwise.
It is genuinely weird how happy I am that they’re back. I’m not loyal to many businesses, haha.

Great food, great quality, great service, great price (especially the veggie/​fruit boxes). Please come back !!!

I absolutely love Good Eggs and feel the extra need to show my support during this time, since they’re currently dealing with red tape from the county over a building permit (per their website). I think that’s silly, and it’s a shame that such a tiny thing such as that could threaten the indisputably best local, organic fruit/​veggie delivery in the area.
That said, here are some reasons I love Good Eggs:
–Farm boxes are reasonably priced and comparable to what I’d actually pay at a farmers’ market. (Order items individually & it gets steep, but the boxes are great)
–They occasionally surprise us with fun little treats like a reusable shopping bag & socks.
–They were prompt to credit me for bad-​ish produce the one time it ever happened
–Free delivery with subscription
–The variety is amazing
–They actually tell you where the stuff comes from, and it actually IS local
Can’t wait for my next box.

Their customer service is impeccable. They are always friendly and smiling. Their products are always soooo fresh. Seriously you can’t compare it to super market foods. They had only been on hiatus for a short period (about two weeks now) and I my stomach is seriously super sad. Missing and craving for their hummus, ravioli, almond milk, vegan/​vegetarian dishes, and so much more fresh goodies!
Their hummus is … the holy grail of hummus for me. =)

Good Eggs is that good. I only took one star off because I have had a couple of replacements on my orders. I guess mother nature and I aren’t always on the same page. LOL. For instance, I ordered sage but it wasn’t available, so Good Eggs was cool enough to send a sage plant. Well… it was alive for a while then it took a nose dive. I tried. I digress.
I like the service though. I wanted to try Amazon fresh but it’s very expensive.
does not deliver to my area. Vons does not either. I was thrilled that they come to my neck of the woods and everything is packaged to keep it just right. I also LOVE knowing the names and/​or having visited the cities on the labels my food is coming from. Yes it is expensive, but I see it as little luxury for now. Besides, I feel really good knowing the produce is so fresh, un/​minimally processed and that is worth it for my health.
I also like knowing I am supporting people, not mega corporations. Good eggs has changed the way I shop for now.

This is a wonderful service for anyone who finds there are not enough hours in the day. I love Farmer’s markets, but rarely have time to shop at them. So I was left with Whole Foods to get my organic foods. The one thing that is very difficult to find is pasture raised pork. Even at WF, the pork is raised in confined settling mainly fed corn. Then I found Good Eggs — what a great find! My first order arrived packed with ice packs and all the frozen food was perfectly frozen. Every steak, pork chop and fish I have purchased has been delicious.
I did have an issue with one order — two frozen items were partially thawed. I notified Good Eggs and the credited back my account for the items and gave me a credit. Now this is customer service!
Does all this great service cost more? No – if your order is over $ 60 and you can have a 4 hour delivery window, delivery is free.

This without a doubt deserves a 5 star review, if Unilocal offered 6 I’d give that! I couldn’t make it to the Mar Vista farmer’s market last week so I was in panic mode when my Mylk supply was up and I couldn’t get more. That’s when I remembered that Good Eggs sells Mylk! So onto the website I went and ended up buying Mylk, Stowaway Ginger Beer and dutch apple sausage.
WOW! Everything I received tastes great! The package was packed so delicately and I was up to date on the entire order process (when it was all ready, when it shipped, when it was at my front door). I am very impressed by how much Good Eggs cares about their customers food and quality of service.
Let’s just say I will continue using Good Eggs for my grocery needs. It’s convenient and the customer service follow up was even better. Ren sent me an email asking how I liked my first order and invited me down to a tour of their place. It wasn’t a generated email either, it discussed what I ordered and how happy she was for me to get my Mylk supply. This company cares about their customers wants and needs and it’s so refreshing in this day in age. I will continue buying from Good Eggs and will recommend it to anyone who asks.

I learned about Good Eggs from a colleague, this colleague also volunteers for a non-​profit which sells there organic, local goods on Good Eggs. I research food justice, and she mentioned that Good Eggs paid fair wages to the producers who sell through their site. I’d like to add that not only are they fair to their producers, but they are amazing to their customers as well. A few of my favorite things about this company:
1) I can find items from my local farmers market, at the same price, but I don’t need to wait until Friday afternoon!
2) All produce has always been fresh and of impeccable quality.
3) Deliveries are always on time, delivered by an awesome Good Eggs employee.
4) I have only ordered twice, but both orders included a free gift (free fresh sage once, free socks another time. The socks sound weird, but they weren’t weird.)
5) I love that I can read about where exactly my food is coming from, and about the principles of the farm. Sustainable, organic, humane, and local are important to me. I feel like I can get to know the values and principles of my farmer. I can do this at the market too-​and I do – but at my local market, we don’t have meat and chicken, and it can be hard to distinguish between produce producers.
I wish they had Good Eggs in other markets – I think they would do especially well in Seattle and Portland. I have just placed my third order with them, I plan to make ordering from them a weekly occurrence.

I love Good Eggs! Great food, great service and easy to use. The delivery guy was so warm and gracious and everything was packed with such care. It’s just nice to feel good about both what you’re ordering as well as the kind of people you are supporting. I’m hooked.

I heard about GoodEggs from an awesome lyft driver who happens to work for GoodEggs as well. I decided to give it a go and I am so glad I did. It offers amazing produce for an affordable rate and is so valuable when it comes to eating healthy even if I am too busy to shop… or cook! Unfortunately they don’t deliver out to where I am at but that Lyft driver/​GoodEggs ambassador happens to be nearby and is ever so wonderful about bringing me my groceries. Her super helpful accommodation only speaks even more to their core mission statement that really gives you a strong sense of community, even in a big city like LA. The info sheets they give out about what you’re eating and from where make it all the more exciting. Every order feels like a little care package! But more importantly it’s about buying local, healthy, and conveniently and GoodEggs makes it so much more accessible.

A friend told us about Good Eggs and we ordered a free range turkey from them for Thanksgiving this year to give them a try. The bird came in smaller than anticipated but Ren from Good Eggs understood that these holiday get togethers are special and kept in good contact with us and offered to rectify the situation by giving us an additional item on the house. We did not even ask. Most impressive.
I have been buying grass fed/​finished beef and such online for months now but will start using Good Eggs for these purchases too. That kind of customer service is hard to find and should be supported.

GoodEggs is FANTASTIC. I toured their facility and got a sense for their operation, and they are really a cool company. Here’s what I like about them:
1. Great food, great produce, locally sourced and vetted by the company. They are committed to environment, sustainability, and health. I like buying from a company I trust., and their stuff is top-​notch.
2. They treat their employees well. They have a chef cook lunch for their employees, and everyone gets benefits – including the drivers.
3. Customer service is beyond good. Can always talk to a person, and that person is always super helpful and super nice. Any issues, they take care of it.
4. Super convenient, easy to use site. Their logistics are fantastic, and food is delivered on time and in super awesome packages that keep the sensitive stuff cold. I’ve ordered cheese and eggs from them that have been great.
It’s a little bit pricey but I believe you get A LOT of value for it. Nice job good eggs!

I am not going to lie here … I was very hesitant about ordering farm fresh goods from a food delivery service but let me tell you this … I am MORE than HAPPY that I did.
I am a newb in LA, coming from Florida a year ago it has been quite the adjustment. But the one thing I was not going to change up on was my eating habits. I wanted farm fresh, deliciousness and wholesome foods but my goodness, what is up with these prices at the grocery stores??? And half the time your questioning how long it was actually sitting there.
I heard about the markets but the issue I had was the whole mass trans thing. Alright, I can get there ok enough but how am I supposed to carry all these fruits, veggies, breads, meats or whatever I decide to get on the bus back home and then walk a couple miles to my residence? Was not happening.
Then there she was … the ad for Good Eggs. My LIFE SAVER!
My first order was enough to cover a 6 person dining table and I was in my farm fresh glory. The aroma of sweet fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs OH MYYYY. It was heaven.
When the delivery came, it was all packed perfectly. Nothing was damaged, cold stuff was kept cold in the coolie bags and the delivery person was an absolute delight.
That night the honey in my tea was sweeter than I ever tasted and I snacked on perfectly ripe grapes and melon like it was nobody’s business.
Do not hesitate, they are friendly, customer service is a dream, the delivery drivers are more than helpful and courteous and the products are better than you can imagine.
Best decision I made since coming to LA to be honest. I order from them almost every week and I have never looked back at another grocery store for my farm fresh goods.

I love Good Eggs!
My friends were gushing about how great the service and quality of products were and I was excited to try them out myself. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was blown away by how good the entire experience was. They have a great range of local produce and everything I received (from fresh fruit to frozen meat) was carefully packaged with ice packs and boxed to protect it from bruising.
I’m always delighted to greet their team at the door, and turn into a kid when I rummage through my bags of goods. I can’t speak higher of them and the experience! They have great customer service and have thoughtful free perks for continued use of their service (like canvas bags, herbs, and pins).
I have ordered local pork, Better Booch, a variety of in season fruits, and pastries from them. I especially love the gluten free vanilla chai shortbread from Bakeology, and the Doe brioche buns.
They are a great company that supports local food systems. Whenever I purchase my groceries with them, I definitely feel like my money is going the extra mile to sustain what I believe in.

Food Delivery haas become a significant part of the foodie landscape during the past ten years and thankfully vegetarian and vegan dishes are not the odd meals out, but I found one company that takes the lead — Good Eggs. A fan since I lived in the SF Bay Area I was delighted to learn that Good Eggs delivers to my temporary digs in The Valley. My second order since moving here in early August was replete with Fig and Rosemary Jam, Home Boy (vegan) Whoopie Pies, Cashew Garlic Cheese and Fig Walnut Bread just to name a few of the items. AND Amy from Good Eggs LA sent a lovely thank you card with a bouquet of flowers for my table with my second order! (How did she know I am recovering from my first root canal?:)
Good Eggs offers a variety of edibles to suit every taste AND they are working on delivering «The Grape» and «The Hops», to round out the meal for adults — very soon:)

I’m obsessed with Better Booch kombucha and I’m so glad Good Eggs carries it! I’ve gotten it delivered quite a few times and the service is beyond extraordinary. Everybody who works there is SO nice and helpful. I feel the need to make a list of the reasons why Good Eggs is so amazing (beyond the obvious).
1. For awhile Better Booch disappeared from their site! I called to inquire and the girl I spoke with could not have been better. She wasn’t sure why the booch was gone but she told me she’d look into it. She took my number down and said she’d call me back. She called back quickly and told me that she found out that they were changing their labels so they had to stop delivering it for awhile. Great, no problem. I really appreciated that she went the extra mile to figure out what was going on!
2. They always include little goodies with your delivery! Before it’s been free fruit, recipe cards, pins and today I got a nice reusable shopping bag! It’s extra touches like these that make me really love a business.
3. The girl who brought my delivery today was so nice! She saw my dog (who was insanely barking at her out the window, no less) and brought her some treats from her car. She gave her a few treats and let me keep the rest. How sweet!
