I finally made my way to see a show at the Greek a few weeks ago. First off, the night was perfect because we were seeing Chris Stapleton with his amazing voice and all but second of all, it was such a lovely venue. I had seen on the news that they had just finished a renovation and really the place is in good condition. It is much smaller than the Hollywood Bowl, so I think most of the seats give a good view. We were up high and to the side but still had a good view of the stage and the large screens. The sound and acoustics were great as well! My only complaint is the over priced food. Yes, it is to be expected but our burger was pretty bad. The bread was hard and dry, we pretty much just ate the meat and lettuce. Hot dog was okay, but it’s pretty hard to mess up a hot dog. The restrooms are also large and clean which I find to be important when coming to music venues. There is a free off-site shuttle that you pick up off Crystal Springs Road/Riverside Drive and Los Feliz Blvd(where the pony rides are). It was like a $ 7 pass to park but the shuttle takes you to the venue and back. Pretty easy and convenient instead of trying to drive in and park ourselves. Lots of shuttles so not too long of a wait to and from. I’ll be back to see Kacey Musgraves and Boyz II Men this summer… can’t wait! :)

First time attending a concert here. Came here at 830 for Tori Kelly and the parking was HORRIBLE. I ended up paying $ 75 for«quick parking» since I waited in that monster line for 15 mins it was slower than a snail. Never attending a concert at Greek theatre again due to this.

The Greek Theatre is a hidden gem located near the Griffith Observatory. As an avid concert goer, it was surprisingly my first time attending a concert at the Greek last night. I would recommend getting there early in regards to parking, as they make you exit through the canyons once the concert is finished(this is a HORRIBLE idea, as lighting is very poor). The customer service at the box office, and in general is very hard to reach, as the theatre is seasonal. Nevertheless, the ambiance of the venue is great. The food(although overpriced — understandably) is mediocrely good. My friends and I had the tacos, quesadillas, and ceviche. Be warned, the nachos are not what they advertise to be. The drinks are average prices, same as any club you’d go to in Hollywood. The service our waitress provided was great though(Happy Birthday to her, unfortunately didn’t catch her name). The bathrooms are very very very spacious, which is always a great plus. The staff kept everyone under control without any problems. However, I do wish that the pit was a bit larger. All in all, the Greek is a smaller version of the Hollywood Bowl. Tori Kelly, on the other hand, was AMAZING.

This review is the Greek being run by city of LA, a big mistake in my opinion. The staff is not educated. The concession stand help look and sound like they came from the streets, prison or a homeless shelter. This sounds awful but I don’t want to order food from someone who seems unkempt. Friday night none of the staff members were educated about the menu of the varying concession stands. My food was burned! When I asked for something less burned I was told all the food was the same. The FF are advertised as made with salt and truffle oil, but they were not salted and had no flavor. When I asked for salt I was told they had NONE on the premises. After asking for a manager this was rectified. 20 minutes to get a hot dog and FF. The condiment counter is gone, replaced by a handful of ketchup, etc in packages. Later I ordered a hot chocolate. The staff member who took my order kept chatting with another staff member and then had to ask me to repeat my order. Sat night I found and ate at the Taco bar. Great price, good food, more sophisticated staff. The staff that seat you seem polite and helpful. Security staff aren’t consistent. They made SOME people standing against the wall move but 2 feet away they let a woman dance on the stairs most the night(against wall is much safer for all where blocking the stairway is not safe for anyone –my 2 cents). I attend 30 shows a year and would like the staff to be neat, clean and well informed. The staff at the Greek do not seem like experienced venue professionals. I fought against Live Nation, in favor of The Nederlander Group who ran the Greek for 70 years, and now sincerely regret that. The City has NO business running a concert venue when they can’t even effectively run the city.

Really great venue. Outdoor(so bring s jacket!) and intimate feeling. The sound was not the best but good. They have two projections on side of the stage that are great. The bathrooms are plentiful and big so there aren’t crazy lines. Bar outside and food stand inside both had big lines but went pretty fast. Parking tip!!! Pay $ 10 in advance to park by pony rides in Griffith park and then shuttle takes you to venue and back. Way better than being in the mayhem of parking right at Venue and paying $ 25 – 50.

Great place for a concert. Staff was really helpful to me despite the fact that I was late. The only bad thing about this place is the lack of wifi due to it being near the mountains. So I couldn’t tweet my pics of me being so close to Laura Pausini while she was on stage(sad face goes here). But the fact that I was so close to Laura Pausini while she was on stage, while rubbing elbows with people came from as far away as The Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and of course, Italy to see Laurita live, and the fact that I was so close to the stage and Ms. Pausini, is what makes the Greek Theatre such a fantastic venue for a concert. I hope to attend later shows at the Greek Theatre, and I hope not to be so late next time around. It is a great venue for a concert, and I hope that when Laura Pausini comes back to America, she’ll choose the Greek Theatre as a venue, and I’ll get to see her, and go to this great place again.

Classic venue and easily accessible for all. Regardless of where you sit here, you’re able to enjoy the show and can easily participate in the festivities. My only advice is to dress comfortably especially with your shoes. Outdoor venues don’t require fancy shoes unless you’re on the stage and even then you can’t see them.

The Greek Theatre is a wonderful open-air theatre in the hills of Los Angeles. Despite the amount of bugs and parking problems, it is such a nice retreat and the perfect venue for live music. It is somewhat like the Hollywood Bowl, but smaller, more intimate, and in the middle of a canyon where sound echoes off the hillsides. It’s fantastic, especially for jazz and folk music because that earthy feel all around. They even serve margaritas here! Tickets here are a bit more reasonable than Staples Center or Universal City. Front row seats generally cost just over $ 100. Come and have a great time at the Greek!

After going to the Bluegrass Festival here earlier in the year, I’m sad I haven’t discovered this place until recently. To my ears, the Greek had some of the best acoustics of any music venue in LA. Placing the venue in Griffith Park also adds a certain tranquility to it, as opposed to a city venue like the Wiltern, with the honking cars, flashing lights, and mobs of people swarming past you. If you want a reason to come here, I suggest checking out the annual Bluegrass Festival.

I just came to this venue for the first time last week to see Ms. Lauryn Hill. Who, of course, put on an amazing show, brought out Nas, and changed my life forever. I could go on but this is supposed yo be about the venue. Which was great from start to finish. We got here about an hour before showtime and found parking($ 20) very close to the entrance. Scanned our tickets, checked my company’s bag for contraband(shabby job, thankfully. lol) and let us in. We had a few beers and an order of fries. You can expect $ 10+ for beer, $ 5 for water and pretty much anything to eat, all not terrible and to be expected. As a smoker I must say their small smoking area located outside of the venue is disappointing. I get it, it’s frowned upon, and no smoking typically wouldn’t stop me from smoking but it did impede it. All and all the venue is the biz and I can’t wait to go back!

You did my girl Shirley wrong. The sound was bad and the Spinal Tap moment was cringe worthy. You’re lucky that it was Garbage on stage… the mellowest go with the flow band with the most forgiving fans. We had a great time anyway. The Greek is the 2nd best outdoor concert venue in L.A. and my husband and I will go back most likely for nostalgic reasons. We’ve seen a lot of bands here.

It was my first time coming to the Greek Theatre for a concert. The location is very awkward as there are houses surrounding the area. I feel bad for them due to the traffic, but I guess thats what they get for choosing to live there. Parking is a bit weird as there are a couple of lots and I happen to park in one that was dirt and a little muddy for $ 20. Upon arriving to the Greek, they have a main section where they serve mixed cocktails, margaritas(slushie or over ice), wine, beer, etc using cash/credit. All the other stalls around the theatre just sell beer and might be cash only. The actual theatre is awesome. No complaints! Oh, remember. You can’t bring bananas in. For some reason, they told everyone that it is prohibited from the theatre. NOBANANAS.

I came here to see the R5 concert. Despite the place being saturated with screaming teenage girls, it was an enjoyable concert. I was sitting pretty much in the back of section C(the furthest section). There’s not really a bad seat in the house. For concessions, I got a bottle of water($ 4) and a hot dog($ 6) that was very much comparable to a Dodger Dog. The total came out to be a few dollars cheaper than what it would cost at a Dodger game. There are alcoholic beverages available here for purchase if you’re looking for a buzz. For parking, I chose to prepay online and park for $ 6 at the little Pony Ride lot on Crystal Springs Dr near Los Feliz Blvd. It comes with free shuttle service that will take you up to and back from the Greek Theatre. Pros: 1. Nice small open-air theater with decent seats. 2. Nice rest rooms facilities. 3. Lots of windows at the concession stands so there was no lines for food. 4. Great venue for a small to medium sized concert. 5. Seats are really easy to find. Cons: 1. Virtually no cell service. No wifi. 2. Parking can be a hassle.

Great venue! Even seats in the back are not bad at all. It’s not a crazy big venue so it’s pretty cozy. The staff is friendly and the many bathrooms are clean. They have some food choices for purchase; some are cash only. Got a hot dog here, which was not that great. There are a lot of cars when there are events here, so get here early! Fun place to check out a concert.

Saw Jill Scott last night. Pretty good show. Let’s start with Parking. I bought parking pass when I bought my tickets. I was told parking was really bad. Turns out not so much. I parked in lot G. There W as no stack parking, and we got in the car and just drove out. It didn’t take more than maybe 10 min to get down to Los feliz. Good job. Good food selection, not cheap, but not outrageous. Pulled pork looked best. I had a pinks dog though. It was good. We sat in section B on the right. We were not super close, but we could still see fine and the sound system was really good. The screens were a little blurry at times and could use an upgrade. The seats had plenty of leg room, but could be a little wider. We are going back in a couple weeks and sitting in the terrace. I will let you know how that is. Here is the BIG drawback. No cell reception. Please stop showing social media links when no one can get on the phone anyway. They could sure use a cell tower disguised as a tree.

I love this venue. I was here last year for the Jack Johnson concert. Thanks to Unilocal,I got free tickets for the Under the Sun Tour. The show must go on either rain or shine. This past Sunday it was raining. Here are tips if it rains at the Greek: 1. Pick up a poncho before the concert. We were happy we stopped by Orchard Supply Hardware, and we stayed dry. They didn’t sell any at the venue and many people were asking us where we got ours. Also, umbrellas are not allowed. 2. Bring a towel to wipe down the seats, which I noticed a few people packed instead of wasting stacks of napkins. 3. Have fun! An outdoor concert with summer rain or sun is still fun especially when you’re dancing and singing along. Parking is $ 20. Parking was not as bad as it was since I wrote my last review. Although parking is stacked, it moves relatively quickly compared to other concert venues so you aren’t waiting in your car too long.

This is my favorite outdoor venue in LA. The size is perfect, the sound is great, and the skies are lovely(even in this current wacky weather). One thing though is that it gets breezy even during summer nights. Best to bring a sweater or blanket just in case. There are some picnic tables outside you can picnic on as well. Thanks to Katie B. for my free Elite tickets for the Under the Sun Tour presenting SUGARRAY, Better than Ezra, Uncle Kracker and Eve 6! Great seats! Sect B Right Row G seats 10 and 12. It was close to the aisle near the center. Woohoo! The weather was wacky and I was ready for the shower without much cover at all, but it didn’t rain during the show at all! PS– They don’t allow umbrella’s into the concert. and I had no sweater. But I had a prayer and that was all I needed. Beer is pretty costly at $ 13 for the large cans.24 oz? $ 11 for a draft(16oz?) A buzz much appreciated and grateful I have a job so I can pay for my beer. haha Parking– Pay online for a $ 5 discount. So instead of $ 20 you pay $ 15. You can also park offsite and take a bus which is only $ 7 but there are time restrictions. Coming a bit ways and the weather unknown, I couldn’t take a chance. The last shuttle is 30mins prior to the show start time. Good thing I didn’t do this b/c I was literally there 10 mins before show starting. If you’re parking by the theater, try and park before the theater like Lot B. Lot H leads you out(exit) the back way(the longer way), and it can be tough to get out of there since that lot is huge and the stacked parking doesn’t help. Grab dinner on Vermont or Hillhurst. Plenty of cute places to try.

Small intimate outdoor music venue that I got to experience recently. It was raining the whole day and the concert still goes on, rain or shine! They don’t allow umbrellas so you have to wear ponchos or raincoats and whatnot. Grab a few napkins or bring a towel to wipe down the wet seats if it rained recently when you go. Definitely do the shuttle parking for $ 7 because it is cheaper and super convenient; you get to save money and avoid the hassle with dealing with parking and traffic up to Griffith. You have to order online first though. I just ordered a few hours before my concert and didn’t have a problem. The food here is a bit expensive, I got a hot dog for $ 6 and that was the cheapest thing. other items range up to $ 10 – 15. Since this venue is pretty small, even if you got a far seat away, it’s still not too bad. Each seat has its own cup holder, which is pretty awesome! FYI, reception up here sucks. My friend and I have T-Mobile and Verizon and we both had problems with sending/receiving texts and accessing internet.

Sticking with my original assessment! Was here last night, thanks to Unilocal’s free tickets to the Under the Sun Tour(Eve 6, Better than Ezra, Uncle Kracker & Sugar Ray). Parking: On this visit, found a lot that was not stacked parking at all, but it was $ 20; however, was able to get out of here in no time. Seats: Last time I was in the front row of Section B. This time, I was further back(row R) in Section B and still had fantastic views of the stage. Food & Drinks: The picnic baskets were unavailable for this event. However, was still able to get a simple meat & cheese plate. Husband was thrilled for his Pink’s Chili Cheese Dog. Also, the nachos were much better than expected. A bottle of wine is $ 23. They only have chardonnay or cabernet(one brand), but it hit the spot. Further, they have a window for mixed drinks. We also got a couple of vodka lemonades. Although it had been raining all day, the rain stopped at we had a fantastic evening of music. Okay, we’re partial, because the music brought us back to our college days together. Fun music, clear skies, food & drinks in the woods, makes for a Great Evening!

I’m new to L.A. and having so much fun discovering new food and things to do in California. I hadn’t yet made to to Griffith Park or the Greek Theater. Having the opportunity to do both including a concert was such a treat. It’s so awesome to be a Unilocal Elite! This venue is so beautiful, clean and peaceful. I loved being able to see the venue from before sunrise to dark. The grounds are well groomed and decorated. The open air, sunshine, lighted trees and clean surroundings helped to make the evening special. The food was pretty decent too, price and taste. I was surprised. We had a chili cheese dog, BBQ Pork Sandwich with chips and Mac-n-Cheese, and for dessert a fresh Funnel Cake with Strawberries and Whipped Cream. It was all super tasty, fresh and priced less than I would expect for the venue and quality. Thank you Unilocal.I’ll definitely return.

My favorite venue in Los Angeles. All the pros of the Bowl: outdoors, beautiful, good acoustics… but without all the cons. Its the perfect size. You can basically get any tickets and have a good view. The often get really interesting shows as well as mainstream artists. I just saw a Ben Folds concert where he played the whole time with an orchestra! So amazing.(Props to yMusic orchestra out of Brooklyn). They have always been good at getting everyone to their seat efficiently. And plenty of food/drink options. Parking, however, can be a nightmare. They stack it so you could get stuck for a while. I suggest taking a Über!

The Greek is a great outdoor venue to check out a concert in the heart of Los Angeles. Its located in Griffith Park near the observatory. We could actually see hikers from our seats inside the venue. Every seat in the theater gives you a good view but Id try to avoid the bleechers and side seating if you can. Park in the lower lots and pay for the shuttle to take you up. If you pay online there’s a bit of a discount. You can avoid being stuck in traffic jams trying to enter and exit the park this way. Once the lights are off in the stage area, it really becomes a magical setting with the different color spot lighting, and stars in the sky. Its beautiful. I can’t wait to come back to another concert here. Summer time is definitely the best time for this outdoor space.

Our son treated us to show at this great venue. Sitting out on a warm evening, enjoy the outside panorama, while watching a great show was just amazing. I want to tip my hat to my fellow Unilocal’ers who shared: don’t drive(we Über’ed up — but enjoyed an easy walk back) and other insights, including clean bathrooms! In other words, read the Information section on the web site. What I was most impressed by was how well the car and foot traffic was managed. The have done this before, the staff was friendly and helpful and made the experience most welcome. I am not sure if it was just our performer(Ben Folds) but the smaller setting, intimate vibe, made for a wonderful show. I could the stage, and the video screens augmented not replaced the show. Go, enjoy! Footnote. I have said this in other«check-in» comments. those who dismiss LA outright base don their perception of the city(Traffic, crime, Hollywood etc). do not know what they are missing. Listen, I am no fan of the traffic either, but getting to Los Feliz is worth the effort and looking to spend time in Griffin Park is for sure!

Thank you to Unilocal Elite for the free tickets to see the legendary Brian Wilson at the Greek last night! This was my first time at the venue and I was impressed… I love the outdoor theatres in the canyons of LA– there’s nothing like hearing live music under the stars. I opted for the $ 7 shuttle to and from the theatre, which is located at the Griffith Park Pony Rides lot. The signage around the park was confusing, but once I plugged in the Pony Rides in my GPS I found my way there– it’s just off the 5. This seems to be the easiest(and cheapest) way to get to the Greek and the wait wasn’t long either way– you also drive through the hills and see fancy Los Feliz estates. I picked up my tickets at Will Call and found my spot pretty quickly, it was a warm night but not unpleasantly so, but I could see how you’d want a light jacket in colder months at nightfall. The sound and acoustics were perfect, and it was a treat to hear classic Beach Boys songs and celebrate Brian’s 73rd birthday with him on the stage. I would love to attend more shows here now that I know it’s easy to get there via the shuttle and seems more intimate than the Hollywood Bowl.

If your favorite band is performing at the Greek Theatre, GO! The Greek Theatre is the only venue in Los Angeles that reminds you that Los Angeles isn’t entirely covered and destroyed by smog. The theatre is set up like an amphitheater in the hills by the Griffith Observatory, and the views are stellar. No matter where you sit, you’ll have a great view of the band performing. Another pro– seats!!! Most venues in Los Angeles are standing only and while the Greek offers a pit, most of it is seating and nicely spaced out– and CHEAP! What I love most about the Greek Theater is the smell of fresh air you get in the mountains. Late at night, you can even see the stars way up at the top of N Vermont. This venue is fantastic. My only tip: purchase parking in advance and save TONS of money. Pre-purchasing parking at a concert I went to was $ 7, whereas parking the day of was $ 20-$ 30 cash.
