Green Dog Dental

Green Dog Dental is the best clinic I have experienced. My little 4 lb Chihuahua is a rescue and had already bad teeth when I got her. She is now 8. I just wanted to get her teeth cleaned but the first consultation showed she has infected teeth. The Dr. Prescribed antibiotics to prepare her for dental surgery. I was so worried that many teeth will have to be extracted specifically the canines. They looked so bad, overgrown with build up. They did blood work to make sure she is healthy enough for surgery. Once I received the results I had some questions. One of the nice girls set up a phone appointment with Dr. Garcia. He called me around 7 pm a week before surgery and answered all my questions and made me feel so calm. Day of surgery: X-​rays showed Dr. Garcia had to pull 5 of the tiny front teeth and only one canine. The canine had an abscess and extracting it took an hour and needed stitches. After surgery I received all information and instruction from Dr. Garcia. Today, the day after, my little tiny dog woke up, went to the kitchen demanding food. She has not once complained, took her meds without difficulties and jumped, ran, barked at loud cars just like nothing ever happened.
She is happy and healthy and I saw today that all her remaining teeth were cleaned and look white, shiny and healthy. And all this at an affordable price. The entire staff is so caring, you can feel how much they all are dedicated to animals. If you ever need dental care for your pet, that’s the clinic to go too. Do not choose a low cost clinic to save money. You won’t get the same care for your pet. Thank you Dr. Garcia and your amazing staff.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for weeks! My 13 yr old chihuahua mix, Lilly had a gum infection, which I took her to our local vet for. He gave her antibiotics and recommended she get a cleaning and believed she might even need that tooth pulled. So, I thought, «fine» and started calling around. Her previous cleaner had said that she had some loose teeth and he couldn’t clean them anymore, but I figured I would go to a specialist and it would be ok. Good plan, right? Except, NOBODY — and I called over 10 places, would touch her, or even think about extracting a tooth without putting my 13 yr old baby with a heart murmur under full anesthesia. When I first found her at almost a year old, no vet would put under to get spayed, so I knew I couldn’t chance it now– 12 years later. Anyway, a few weeks later my little dog sneezed and BLOOD sprayed out of her nose. I googled and discovered it was probably connected to her tooth infection and started searching for a dentist again. This time I googled something like «non-​anesthesia tooth extraction» and managed to find Green Dog Dental! It was a Sunday and I called and left a message and booked an appt on their website. To my surprise, a sweet, knowledgable woman called me back THAT DAY to talk me through everything. Turns out, THEY COULD DO TWILIGHT SLEEP TEETH EXTRACTION!!! I’ve never been happier in my life! The tech explained that Lilly would need some tests done, but it was possible! At our appt, I leaned that Lilly needed four teeth extracted and a few were abscessed. One infection had even gone up into her bone in her nose — which caused the bloody sneeze. Besides, being dangerous to her health, this meant that Lilly was and had been in pain for god knows how long. As her mom, I felt so guilty about that, but I had always been under the impression that the choice was between risking her life to be put under, or living with undone dental work. I gave the «go ahead» and the tests came back that she was a good candidate for the procedure. I was SO NERVOUS dropping her off for the surgery, but Dr. Garcia is a GENIUS and everything went perfectly and he basically saved Lilly’s life. Everyone at that office is amazing, kind, non-​judgmental and super helpful. If you’re ever in the position that you think all hope is lost, please try Dr. Garcia. I thank god everyday that I found him when I see my little 13 year old acting like a puppy again!!!

We are so happy we found Green Dog Dental. My wife and I have three small dogs, two of which are in their senior years. We’d do anything for our dogs, but annual dental work had been really tough because putting them under anesthesia was expensive and came with risks. With Green Dog, we are now able to get all our dogs routine dental care for a great price and we don’t have to worry about subjecting 14 year old dogs to anesthesia.
Dr. Garcia is super nice and really thorough. He’s been great at explaining exactly what he sees and if extractions are needed he explains why and how much it would cost. His office is also very responsive, which really helps. The whole experience has removed the stress around doggy dental care. We couldn’t be happier.

I absolutely love this place. All of the staff is extremely caring and made my pug feel comfortable during his dental surgery. The Dr. Is very good at explaining what is needed and why and made me feel at ease.
They are very helpful when dealing with the care credit people and I did t feel like I was being ripped off.
I would refer this place to anyone looking to get dental care for their pets!

My dog came in to have dental surgery with Dr. Garcia, as he had a severe fracture of one of his molars, and was in a lot of pain. The staff were very friendly, and attentive. Dr. Garcia went over the x-​rays with me, and really did a great job. I was very happy with the service, and I recommend this place to all of my friends and other Unilocalers.

I couldn’t be happier with green dog dental. My dog is a rescue and historically does not do well with other dogs and at times males. I was nervous about bringing her in and how she would do. Upon doing my research I saw they did a «twilight» cleaning which is a non-​anesthetic sedation. I assumed they would have to use that procedure to even attempt work on my dog.
When I arrived I was surprised to find they moved the dogs in and out of the area very quickly so that there were rarely dogs waiting in the same room together. This made my dog feel more comfortable.
Secondly, they were able to calm my dog and begin performing the teeth cleaning without the «twilight» sedation. They later had to stop and use it as she had skin fold dermatitis that was causing discomfort, but not for the reasons I was initially worried about. What I enjoyed about the sedation process is that it was non-​anesthetic and did not require the extra health concerns of an anesthetic procedure. At another dentist office I was told I would have to have blood tests and a catheter put in my dog because of her age (she’s 8). All of these were significantly more expensive and posed a health risk.
They kept me updated on the process while I waited in the lobby. They were reassuring and made me feel like my baby was in good hands.
Finally, they explained all the findings and how to follow up with maintaining her hygiene.
I referred a friend there immediately.

This place is awesome. My dog is very old, and he needed dental cleaning so bad, but my vet gave me about $ 1000 quote, and he would be put under which is out of the question (I was too afraid to do so because of his age)…so I searched online and found this place.
I decided to take my dog to Green Dog Dental because 1. it is operated by a vet, 2. the reviews on Unilocal and the before/​after pictures on their website are great. I am very glad. My dog’s teeth look so clean every time I bring him here. The staff there is very nice and friendly.
I don’t know why any other vet offices cannot offer the service like this if Green Dog Dental can do it ($ 165 vs over $ 1000). Anyway, I think this place is a must for all dog owners!

When I walked in the receptionist, Bianca, Greeted me and my puppy Mac with a smile. I really enjoyed how energetic she was.
Nicky was the vet nurse, She was amazing. She could tell I was worried and made me feel better about what was going on. She told me about her fur babies and how she brings them in to have their teeth fixed at her office and that she’s picky on who works on her dogs.
Overall I had a pleasant experience at Green Dog Dental. If I need to come back I know the first place I can call.

Called to make an appointment — the receptionist Christie on the phone was extremely helpful. I was able to book an appointment within a week. On the phone she went over all the details of the dental cleaning procedure in great detail.
Before my appointment I received 2 separate emails reminding me of my upcoming appointment.
As soon as I arrived for my appointment I was greeted right away by Christie and Bianca. Right away they came up and introduced themselves to my pup which I thought was really awesome.
Bianca then proceeded to explain everything about the dental cleaning again, just to make sure I understood and was comfortable with everything.
After my pup was sent to the back, the Vet Tech came to the front and introduced herself and asked a few more medical questions.
Baylee was in and out within 45 minutes. I met with the Vet «Dr. C» at the end — she explained to me in detail everything going on with my pups mouth and teeth. She also gave me recommendations on how to help keep Baylee’s mouth nice and clean.
The dental cleaning is non-​anesthetic. The total for the consultation and cleaning runs $ 169. I ended up having to buy antibiotics and mouth spray so my bill came out to $ 213 but totally worth it.
Honestly, the customer service here is above and beyond and I’d definitely recommend Green Dog Dental for anyone looking to get a dental cleaning for their furry friend!

I bring my doxie Lola for non-​anesthetic cleanings every few months and the results are always perfect! I’m updating my review to share the amazing experience I had after my 4 lbs chihuahua had an advanced procedure about two weeks ago. I had just rescued a little chihuahua who had TERRIBLE breath and really red/​inflamed gums. I’ve trusted Dr. Garcia and his team with my doxie for over a year so I knew Gizmo was in good hands. I brought him in for an oral consultation and possible surgery as I already knew he already had 4 loose teeth. :(
I was greeted with smiles and COFFEE in the morning, as always! The sweet ladies in the front took Gizmo to the treatment room where the vet examined him. Just 15 minutes later, I was escorted to speak with the vet. I love how they do private 1-​on-​1 consults in the back now! The vet throughly explained everything to me and poor Gizmo needed 9 extractions. He had some deep pockets that were causing infections and had a fractured molar. This was going to be a pricey procedure but I knew it was the right thing to do. Gizmo was in so much pain. They accept Care Credit, which helped out A LOT! The vet gave me the option to have the procedure done the same day or to keep searching for a second opinion.
I ended up doing the procedure the same day, so I left Gizmo with them for the day. They sent me an email saying Gizmo was out of surgery by 3pm and was recovering so I picked him up around 5:30pm. I had another consultation with Dr. Garcia when I picked him up. He only used sedation for the xrays and extractions, which is such a relief! I was so worried about putting my 4lbs baby under general anesthesia. I was sent home with some prescription spray, pain meds and antibiotics which I continued for 5 days. He was a little groggy that night so I only fed him a little bit. After day 2, Gizmo was back to his normal happy self! I am beyond pleased with how everything healed, and I’m sure Gizmo is too! They never disappoint and you can tell every person there loves their job and your pets! Finding an honest vet is difficult these days but this is the best place for your fur babies.

I have taken my dog to green dog dental since it opened. Not only do my dogs get their teeth cleaned here but their regular yearly check ups as well.
Dr. Rene Garcia and his staff are amazing. My 3 year old South African Boerboel, Amina, goes crazy excited anytime we see her best friend Dr. Garcia.
I have recommended this place to several friends and family and everyone is blown away with their service, hospitality and genuine love for their patients.

I made an appointment based off the excellent Unilocal reviews. And they were right.
I had an excellent experience. From the time I walked in the door, I felt like I was in a spa. It was clean and it smelled nice and the music was very soothing. Gladys was very welcoming and really made an effort to greet my dog in such a way that made both of us feel at ease.
They genuinely care about the fact that there is a wait and they let me know every step of the way.
After the exam, the vet showed me photos of my pets teeth and sat down and told me my options. She will need blood work before they proceed due to the fact that she had some broken teeth and possibly need some extractions. Good thing I saved my tax return money. Anything to make my baby feel better!
I look forward to them doing the procedure which the ext available schedule was in 2 – 3 weeks since they have a dentist that comes in Mondays and Fridays only.

What an amazing experience I just had! I brought my Yorkie here for a cleaning and the service was even better than expected. With most vets charging upward of $ 700 for a simple cleaning, I was thrilled to find an affordable non-​anesthetic option at Green Dog Dental. Not only was the price right, but the staff is super friendly and gave me updates while my fur baby was being worked on. And they were quick! My baby was so happy with his clean teeth! I will definitely be coming back.

I am sooooo happy Unilocal exists for this exact experience. My 4.5 year old minpin/​chiweenie is my life. I’ve never gotten his teeth cleaned, I just brush them when he lets me and give him every dental treat there is. I could tell they were collecting so much plaque hat I had to do something about it. He’s only 6 pounds so anesthesia makes me so uncomfortable. When I got him fixed, the anesthesia made him soooo high for around 12 hours and I wasn’t happy about it. This non-​anesthetic cleaning is a life savor. The entire office is so friendly and sweet throughout the entire process. He got the NEAT special and we were home within an hour. I am telling all my dog owning friends about this place. Anesthesia for teeth cleaning is not needed in my opinion and this place proved it! Thanks again everyone there! Leroy gives his love! :)

I’ll never go anywhere else. I’ve been a Green dog dental client for about 2 ½ years now.
I first started coming here for their anesthesia free dental cleanings, but now I get everything done here! Regular vet check-​ups vaccines and even blood tests.
Every single time I come here I’m reminded of what it feels like to be treated like a queen. Their customer service is always on point; I’m greeted with a smile, they cuddle with my dog, I’m offered refreshments and consistently updated on how my little baby is doing while their cleaning her teeth.
I know my little Julie is in good hands I trust the veterinarians here and the staff is always so incredibly nice and happy to help. You know it’s a good business when everyone working there is genuinely happy.

My little chihuahua had teeth issues that my husband and I were unaware of … much to our horror. We have been doing routine non-​anesthesia cleanings for years, but there were abscesses developing in her back molars that we had no idea about. Once it was brought to our attention, I panicked and began researching to find a clinic that I could have faith in. When your dog weighs 5 pounds, the idea of putting her under is terrifying … she might not wake up!
That is where Dr. Garcia and his team won me over. He took his time to carefully explain to us what her issues are, and what he felt was necessary. He even gave us a ballpark for the costs – which were extremely reasonable considering what it would cost at most veterinary clinics in Los Angeles (a FORTUNE!). He also stressed that when it came to her teeth removal, he would try to refrain from putting her fully under unless it was absolutely necessary. When he explains how he handles the anesthesia process, you can’t help but feel secure and safe in trusting him. We immediately scheduled her surgery after talking to him (though he did tell us to take our time and compare if we wanted to).
Four days before our scheduled surgery, my poor pup’s face became swollen on one side and it was clear her abscess was getting highly infected. The staff were so kind (thank you, Bianca!) and were able to squeeze her in at the last minute and move up her surgery. I just picked her up and she’s a little out of it, but wagging her tail and on the way to feeling MUCH better. I was even shocked to learn that he didn’t have to put her under, despite needing to remove a lot of her teeth. I’m so grateful to him and his lovely team for making this procedure easy and comfortable. What started out feeling a bit traumatic has ended up being really wonderful. I highly recommend Green Dog Dental and will absolutely remain a client. Already planning to bring in my doberman soon!

Brought my little Pom in for a dental cleaning today. He’s never been into chew toys much and I’ve never really made an effort to make sure his teeth were super clean. He’d rather starve than touch kibble so I knew this was a problem.
From the moment I walked in the receptionist were so friendly and welcoming. They sat down with me and went over all the scenarios and pricing while my baby got taken to the back for his consultation.
5 min later, they inform me that he’s a good candidate for the teeth cleaning and I’m relieved BUT, they will keep my updated on any new revelations in case he needs a more vigorous dental plan.
Finally get to consult with Dr. Garcia and he surprisingly tells me Chip has great teeth for a Pom Pom and the cleaning was successful!!! We did come up with a plan to keep him healthy and will be back in 4 months. Dr. Garcia made me feel comfortable and in no way did I feel like I was getting taken advantage of. I will gladly make the one hr drive back here for my lil one. Thank you!

Brought my almost 9 year old yorkie for a routine teeth cleaning and even though she has been getting her teeth cleaned non-​anesthesia every 4 months, she had some loose front incisors. After the exam I was made to believe that she had major infection in her mouth and she needed to go under anesthesia to do x-​rays and a more thorough exam. I was clearly upset since I thought I had been doing everything to keep the dog’s mouth healthy, including at home brushing. The whole experience felt a bit «sales like» and I was skeptical but I went ahead and did the blood work to see if the yorkie could handle to be put to sleep. GDD gave me a few estimates and they were different from what I was originally told, so I would definitely double check their estimates.
But long story short, I spoke to the actual vet who does the surgeries, Dr. Garcia, and I just love the guy. From the moment I spoke to him on the phone I knew that he is a professional and my dog was safe in his hands. He explained everything and when I asked him not to do anything extreme and that I only wanted sedation and no anesthesia, he agreed. When I met him the day of the surgery, I again felt very comfortable. During surgery he called about a few more teeth extractions but I felt respected, he did not try to play on my emotions to make an irrational decision. I spoke to other vets and vet techs and he comes highly recommended.
Yorkie, the Dog, is doing well. I now realize that her teeth were most likely hurting her for a long time. I think if you can afford it at least one time, have your pup’s teeth cleaned under sedation. It took about a month before I really saw how much better she is. I think she just took a long time to recover from all the infection which was not seen with the naked eye. Either way, she is like a puppy again and I know she will live longer because of having these bad teeth extracted.
