The Hollywood Luthern Church hosted in its basement the Gay Freedom Band last Sunday, December 14, 2014 for a free concert starting at 11:15am. It was an informal affair with contemporary & traditional winter holiday music. The end was a sing-a-long with Joy to the World, It Came upon a Midnight Eve, O, Come All Ye Faithful for those of the Christian faith. However, the feeling was ecumenical in the literal sense of the word which in Classical Greek means«all those who live in this world» from atheists, agnostics, Christians, and all the other faiths. After all we are all human beings first and in the great family of humankind. A hand written sign on whiteboard on an easel welcomed all to come downstairs to enjoy the late morning musical program. It was kind of the Hollywood Lutheran Church to open its doors to all people who wanted to enjoy music & harmony. The Gay Freedom Band members gave it their all with many wearing winter holiday themed Santa hats, vests, shirts, etc. I appreciate their going to the trouble of waking up early on a weekend morning, getting ready for the day, and traveling through all points of Los Angeles to come to entertain & uplift with music & song. May the Hollywood Lutheran Church receive great blessings for its generosity & warmth of humanity.
