At Hummingbird Pilates in Beverly Hills, we specialize in classical private and semi-​private Pilates lessons using Gratz equipment, the original Pilates equipment manufacturer.

We also offer mat classes with small class sizes.

History

Established in 2013.

The owner, Abey Clark, has been teaching Pilates for almost seven years. She opened Hummingbird Pilates in Beverly Hills in March, 2013. She wanted to create a beautiful, happy, bright space where people could enjoy getting a great workout using the highest quality Pilates equipment.

Hummingbird is very lucky to have ANNIE as part of their team. She is so wonderful– patient, caring, kind, knowledgable, and always has a smile on her face! I look forward to Tuesday’s and Thursday’s to see Annie. I have such a great time during that one hour one on one with her. The best part is you go home and feel strength, flexibility and just feel like another person. I have noticed a difference in my posture too. I have a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck but after each secession I feel like I just got a massage! Thank you Annie for being so amazing– please do yourself a favor and go see her!

I have been going through physical therapy for a herniated disc and scoliosis for months, and my PT recommended Pilates as I was moving to LA for the summer. I jumped on a gilt deal for hummingbird Pilates and am so glad I did.
I’ve been working with Christina and she has helped me immensely in «finding» and strengthening my core. I only realized through these sessions that I’ve been relying for years on my hip flexors. Our sessions are always tailored to however I’m feeling (ie in pain or not), and I always leave feeling more even and in less pain. I’m sad that I won’t be able to continue when I leave LA, but highly recommend Christina and Hummingbird Pilates!

I bought a Gilt City Voucher and had 5 private sessions with Ms. Tiffany Stacey. She was so lovely and warm and definitely gave me a fantastic workout each time. I’m sad I can’t continue doing these sessions with her due to budgetary reasons but will definitely check back in when I’m in a place where I can. :) Easy parking and great space.

I found Hummingbird pilates through my pilates instructor Christina whom I met through my physical therapist. I had suffered from debilitating sciatica for years but through pilates I have strengthened my core muscles and back muscles and have not had a flare up in 5 months! I highly recommend Christina as she is extremely knowledgeable and cautious, which has not been my experience at other pilates studios where the focus is on faster movements and weight loss. Although through doing pilates properly, being mindful of alignment and form, i have found that my body has changed for the better! My abs are tight and my booty has lifted. I’m thrilled!
Hummingbird pilates studio is always clean and their equipment is well maintained. It is a true find.

I love my experiences at Hummingbird! I work primarily with Kara and sometimes with Abey. They are both fantastic teachers and they have all the equipment available. It’s clean and spacious with lots of light. Parking is easy, which is a big deal to me! My body has been thanking me since I began Pilates. This is the place to practice!

I’ve been active all my life, but have never been more challenged by any form of exercise as I have by Pilates. Fortunately for me, I found Christina at Hummingbird Pilates, who knows how to keep me motivated and keep it fun. Patient, knowledgeable, always cheerful, she pushes me to always do more than I think I can. The studio is always clean and the equipment is well maintained. I highly recommend Hummingbird, and Christina, for a terrific workout.

Absolutely fantastic experience. I’ve been coming to Hummingbird for over a year and training with Tiffany — she’s a rock star who kicks my butt — though it’s clear all the instructors truly care about their clients. Abey, the owner, runs a tight ship and is super friendly. The space is bright, clean, has terrific equipment and easy parking. Whether you’re a beginner (like I was a year ago) or a pro, Tiffany, Abey and their colleagues will take good care of you. I’ve made tremendous progress. Always happy to walk through the door!

I’ve practiced classical pilates for four years but it wasn’t until I met Abey a year ago that I gained an appreciation for the purpose behind each exercise. There is no doubt that Abey is a master teacher: both encouraging and demanding in the right doses. Her teaching method is not one size fits all. She knows how to key into the individual needs of her clients. Her studio is bright and airy and all the instructors I’ve seen there are as passionate about teaching pilates as she is.

Small classes are the most important part of Pilates Mat in my opinion! You need an instructor to adjust you and let you know what you are doing wrong, not just swiftly lead you through a class where you may be using the wrong muscle group, or are doing a shortcut without realizing it, etc. This has been the best Pilates Mat class I have taken in LA since Kara Wily’s studio closed (since that was my all time fav)…highly recommend!

Due to my busy schedule, I take a very early class wtih Abey. My early morning grumpy mood is immediatly dropped upon entering this fresh, naturaly bright and modern studio. I bought a series of private lessons through Gilt City. I am very happy with Hummingbird and Abey who was my teacher. The studio is very clean and they have a lot of different equipment. It’s never too crowded so you don’t feel like people are in your way or that you can’t get on a piece of equipment. Abey is a great teacher and I highly recommend this studio!

Abena is my girl! She is the best instructor a girl could ask for and I can definitely see my body changing. She is just tough enough but wants to make sure you understand what you’re doing fully so there is no chance of injury. I’ve done the big Pilates reformer classes and felt like a fish out of water. They don’t explain well enough and it really leaves a lot of room for error. Not with Abena! She is truly a gem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

It’s a really well appointed facility, Abey is great, and equally fantastic is April who also takes turns teaching the mat classes. She is really helpful with her great visualization of how each exercise should be executed.

I have just about reached my one year anniversary with Abey. I can not tell you how many compliments people have given me about my results. The superficial compliments are wonderful and i am proud…48 y/​o and proud of my body. However, I am more proud of how i feel about myself on the inside. I’ve been working out with Abey 2x/​week for the past year+ and am a fan. She mixes up the sessions so I don’t get in a rut and watches me like a hawk to make sure I don’t get lazy. The new studio at Doheny/​Olympic is fantastic (close to Bev Hills and W Hollywood for post-​pilates errands) and the parking sitch is so much better than the prior Westwood location. Warning: Abey is a form nazi, be prepared to «engage» muscles/​parts that you didn’t know existed.

I can’t say enough good things about Abey and Hummingbird Pilates. I’ve worked with her for years, during times when I was super active and in-​shape, when I was pregnant, to when I was post-​partum and every time she was able to create a workout that was safe, effective and most important in my case, fun.
