My dad and I took the handgun 1 class taught by Jordan and it was an awesome learning experience to say the least. These guys are total pros who are incredibly safety conscious. There are so many intricacies to shooting effectively and safely and they are great at teaching each one. There are so many interesting classes we will definitely be back to try them out.

I have taken several class here. The training is as good as it comes. Your instructors are all active duty SWAT officers. The emphasis is on learning the basics of good marksmanship and safety, safety, safety. They teach every level from the «I have never held a gun» to «I have shot for years.» Everyone will feel welcomed. Their beginner class is, buy far, the best I have ever seen. If you want to REALLY learn how to shoot, this is the school for you.

I have been going to ITTS for almost fifteen years. I have tried several other reputable instructors and although enjoyed and learned from them too, I find ITTS the best by far. They know how to instruct everyone from beginning to advanced. They challenge all levels accordingly. Everyone leaves with a smile and new or renewed skills. Their safety is second to none and you will feel accomplished and wanting more. Scott, Dave, Mark and the gang are top notch. You will not be disappointed. If you are a beginner looking for a place, look no further. If you have experience and are looking for a new place, They have movers, knife attack, steel, hostage rack and many things you won’t see elsewhere. Karl W (wife’s account)

Thanks again Uncle Scotty and Uncle Dane! This past weekends Sniper 1 class was a blast. I can’t wait to practice everything we learned. I will catch Sniper 2 on the next rotation after I put in some practice, a lot of practice. «You got to rip it if you want to hit it.»

This is a serious organization that has an unyielding focus on safety and the expertise to get you where you want to be. I took Handgun I to be sure I liked the organization. I am now signing up for the rest of the handgun courses and will eventually take every class they offer. Two thumbs up. This place is legit.

I will have to say that these course offered here are world class. I have taken dozens of great class that were offer by the military and also taught by civilians and I would have to say that course that ITTS offers are one of the best that I have taken. The classes that I have taken so far with ITTS:

One of the things I really respect and appreciate about these courses run by Scott Reitz «Uncle Scotty» is that they make safety paramount. Often times at other courses that I have taken I often worry if the ‘ass-​hat’ next to me will some how ND (negligent discharge) his weapon and have a round go into me cause the instructors are off not watching their students. But, this is not the case with how Uncle Scotty runs his range. He run a very safe range which also make his course very enjoyable. I hope that I can take some more courses with Uncle Scotty sometime in the future. The money that I have spent was well worth it.

Overview:
They over a wide selection of courses with world class instruction. Their manner in which they conduct their courses are very conservative, which is both a pro and a con. They teach to the extent of weapon manipulation that suits general police or general military standards, which in most cases will meet the needs of the 90% of its students but if you’re looking to for something more advance than that well you either should give «Uncle Scotty» a call or you could look else where. But, without a doubt they provide some of the most outstanding instructions that I have experienced.

Absolutely brilliant course and brilliant school all round! My wife and I completed a handgun course here and we will definitely be back. Scott, Brett, Jordan, Dave and Mark all worked with us at various times throughout our course, I can honestly say that every single one of them instructed us extremely well and equally important is that every single one of them was a really nice person. Outstanding!

Just finished Civilian Active Shooter /​Critical response. The basics of shooting are easy to learn and can be practiced over a life time. The decision when to shoot, that is what is critical. Going through scenarios deciding to shoot — or not — with other licing, moving, human beings is incredibly valuable and everyone should have the experience.

This is my 2^nd extended class with Mr. Reitz. I have had my CCW most of my adult life and I have taken many training courses. I feel confident carrying and feel that I am ready to apply deadly force when the need arises… until I spend a weekend with Mr. Reitz. Mr. Reitz training is my gut-​check. I leave his training on Sunday realizing that I am not as good as I thought that I was, but confident that his knowledge and insights make me better than I was on Friday. ITTS has the most professional facilities and breadth of faculty that is astounding. There is just nothing like it.

Incredible. It was such a great experience. Brett and Scoot are both amazing. It was a great combination of classroom and hands on practical training. The instructors were perfect; the right combination of approachable, but in charge and knowledge able. There was such a high priority put on safety that I felt comfortable. You immediately understand that you are in good hands, with instructors that have real world experience. This class gave me great experience with the handgun. I learned so much and had fun while I was doing it. Day one started off a little slow because it was all classroom lecture type stuff, but it was SO worth it. I didn’t want Day two to end, even though I was exhausted. I will definitely sign up for another ITTS course and recommend them to anyone.

I signed up to take classes at ITTS. Initially I was so intimidated and nervous. It did not take long for me to feel secure because all the instructors really care about your performance, and do what it takes to see you get better at each class. I am a beginning shooter, and both Dave and Dane were awesome. They took extra time to assess my problems and worked with me to fix them.
I have taken a few other classes before, but they were so sub-​par in comparison to ITTS. All of the staff stress safety – ITTS has a perfect safety record and I never once felt un-​safe.
I was so impressed with ITTS and the staff, I felt good about wanting to learn more and be better. I signed up for several more classes, and will continue to do so until I take all the classes on the curriculum!

Been to a number of trainings — military, Gunsite, etc. and this was the best by a pretty good margin. Uncle Scottie is profane, not PC, very knowledgeable and a great teacher. It’s one thing to know your shit, another still to be able to teach it to others and he is awesome at both. Will be coming back!

I’ve been shooting handguns for quite some time now. I would consider myself quite knowledgeable on the subject and was ready to finally buy my own when it was suggested that I take a class to refine my skills and decide what would be best to suit my needs. At first I didn’t think that I would need this class because I’ve shot a lot of guns with friends. I know (or thought I knew) how to shoot and pretty much knew what I wanted to buy and how to shoot it.
But as an attorney, I value knowledge and learning about activities and hobbies that I am involved in, so I reluctantly signed up for the Handguns One course.
The bottom line is, I could not be more happy that I had the opportunity to take this seminar. Surprisingly, I left the class both days asking myself, WHY WOULD YOU BUY A GUN WITHOUT TAKING THIS SEMINAR?
Three points I should make: first– in law school, and studying for the California Bar exam, I learned about self defense and the use of deadly force (I don’t presently practice criminal law). The first day of the two day seminar is focused on the legal aspects of owning a gun as well as the practical aspects of keeping yourself safe from crime. This course was a great refresher of the law I learned about deadly force as well as practical points on keeping myself safe. Sounds a lot easier than it realistically is.
I left the first day thinking, if you’re going to own a deadly weapon like a gun, how can you do so without truly understanding the law that relates to when you’re entitled to use it to protect yourself? Sure, as an attorney I’ve read and understood the applicable law before, but going through the different scenarios presented in the course really made it hit home for me concerning when using deadly force would be permissible. I now believe that buying a gun without taking day one of this two-​day course would be similar to buying a car without learning the rules of the road. The difference being that we drive everyday and can probably learn how to navigate the streets, but the one time you use your gun for home defense, YOU BETTER KNOW THE LAW THAT APPLIES!
Second point– day two covers two other important aspects– safety and shooting. The safety aspect is crucial, which should be obvious when you’re talking about something so critical as a controlled explosion in your hand or holster, which can cause deadly consequences. Day two is focused on the shooting itself. An important point is that it is taught by LAPD SWAT, both current and former operatives and instructors. If you were ever going to be taught by professionals, this is the real deal. All the instructors (Uncle Scotty, Brett, Jordan, Dave and Dan are awesome, knowledgeable and nice! Many thanks goes out to these guys for helping me unlearn my bad habits and teaching me the correct way to shoot– the way LAPD SWAT does it!
Finally, point three– I don’t write a lot of Unilocal reviews, but I was truly taken aback and surprised by how amazing this course was that I felt compelled to do so. That should mean something. Good luck, and THANK YOU ITTS! I LOOK FORWARD TO HANDGUN 2 AND BEYOND!

Great place to learn how to use your gun and shoot… and tons of fun!!!
You have no business having a gun if you don’t know how to SAFELY use it. Going to the range and static shooting is not the answer. Going to several schools and now going to ITTS on a regular basis… this is the place to be.
Where can you learn from experienced instructors who happen to be team leaders of LAPD swat or «Uncle Scotty»… one of the pioneers of LAPD swat. Truly old school with current real world experience and knowledge.
I have been taken classes in handgun, rifle, shotgun and sniper rifle and as you can probably tell, I really love it. But more importantly in order to not disappear on the weekends, started bringing my girlfriend to classes. I now have to watch out that she doesn’t get better than me.

This past weekend I took the Handgun III weekend class. The instructors as in my previous two classes were top rate! Actually the entire staff: Beth, Uncle Scotty, Jordan, instructors, and support staff are awesome! Very professional, easy to approach, and know what they are talking about!
I thought I was a decent shooter before coming to ITTS, I learned I had bad habits and really didn’t have any shooting skills. Thanks to ITTS I have learned the skills to be a good shooter, now I just have to keep practicing!
Not only do you learn shooting skills, but you are taught the proper safety rules, laws regarding the use of deadly force, and real world tactics.
It doesn’t matter if you are a first time shooter or experience shooter, you will learn something new and work with great instructors!

I’ve had the opportunity to take the Defensive Handgun I and Carbine I classes from ITTS, and each time I had an extraordinary experience. The quality of instruction is truly top notch — definitely the best «schooling» I’ve received since university.
Being able to interact with the legendary Scott Reitz was of course great, while the other active-​duty LAPD SWAT instructors like Dave and Dane did a fantastic job too. Safety is the #1 priority at ITTS, and I felt completely safe at all times. It was also a pleasure to talk to Brett McQueen (Scott’s wife and course director) who made me feel very welcomed.
My handgun skills improved tenfold after the two-​day course (sight picture, trigger press, follow-​through!). My carbine rifle skills are also better than ever. I will definitely be returning for more classes soon.

I am a ‘First Family’ member at Front Sight — Nevada, formerly at Bakersfield since 1998, I am now now an ‘Ambassador’ since 2012. Almost all my training are free at Front Sight — ammo, food & hotel stay are not.
Most, if not all, of my firearms training are now at ITTS since my company will not reimburse for training outside California. I am greatly impressed with the curriculum and courses, the Staff are great and speaks through experience — especially Scott Reitz or «Uncle Scotty» to all his students. I have not taken a Level I course at ITTS, all of my classes are Level II and above.
I just finished the LEO Active Shooter course last weekend and it was very good and extremely informative. We had to move the time an hour early and ended two hours earlier so we lost a full hour of training. It would have been great if we had a few more scenarios — we did not even had time for lunch.
I am a P.O.S.T. Certified Firearms Instructor — Riverside County Sheriff’s in 2000 along with two other Instructors at work. All the information from «Uncle Scotty» and Staff are relevant to civilian and police work.
i highly recommend taking classes from ITTS — one of the few schools that will teach the proper shooting stance for any weapons system.

I should start by saying that I was extremely nervous to handle a gun for the first time. That being said, the team at ITTS is extremely experienced and they have an outstanding curriculum.
I took the all women defensive handgun course. All of the students received loads of 1:1 instruction, despite the fact that it is a group course (talk about getting your money’s worth!). The feedback each of us received was great, and every student improved significantly in just 8 hours of instruction. Even though I was very intimidated at first, I improved drastically. I can’t wait to take my next course next month! I should add that they do not push additional classes on you.
I couldn’t wait to tell my friends about my wonderful experience here.
I absolutely recommend ITTS for both beginner and experienced students. Their number one priority here is to teach students to SAFELY execute the skills they learn in their courses, and they are A+ in my opinion. Thanks Brett, Scott, Dave, and Jordan!
