Nurses are horrible and lazy, never going back. Avoid the big boned nurse, she is cranky without her 2^nd lunch.

I don’t understand why there’s so many negative here. I love Dr. choi! I have Kaiser as insurance but I still go to him…

I have never posted bad reviews on Unilocal,it is my first time and i am so angry now. They have very poor customer service!!! I have talked to Amy and she was so rude to me! I have asked her to check if my insurance will pay for the test, she answered that she can not do it by phone, because they are going to close in a few minutes (on Unilocal it was like 30 min more open) She offered me come to their office tomorrow morning just for checking this. I don’t want to waste my time, so we agreed that i’ll send her email with my information, she will check it and will call me back. I sent her email immediately, but it was said, that address is incorrect. So, i decided to call them again to check email address. That was our dialogue:
— Can i contact to Amy?
— What is your name?
— my name is Evgenia, i talked with Amy about «special» test. Can i talked to her?
— It is Her on the phone, what is your name, i talked to several people, i don’t remember
— It is Evgenia, i talked to you about test and we agreed to send email and… Then Amy interrupted me and started talking this:
— I didn’t receive any email from you yet. And i said that i’ll call you tomorrow, why you call me now?
— what? Do you know why am i calling you now? The email address was not correct and i am calling just to double check it. I do not want to bother you and i know that your work day is going to end, why are you so rude to me? If you don’t want to do it, just tell me.
— i am not rude, i am trying to help you.
— you are rude… you even don’t want to hear me…
— i have another line
WTF was in my mind? Of course i am not going to use their services!!! Amy is so bad!!!

This place sucks. They are extremely rude to anyone who is not of Asian decent. Like the gentleman below I expected unbiased medical care but I was wrong. These people are exetrenrly rude unpleasant and unhelpful. The second nurse I saw was extremely unpleasant and told me to come back another day even though the office was empty since I didn’t have an appointment. She kept telling me how other patients would have priority however I WAS HE ONLY PATIENT. I understand the bad reviews at this place now. Stay away. This place is a dodgy spot.

My prescription was not sent to the pharmacy TWICE! The doctor visit was good/​great… but the receptionists… The clinic receptionist told me that the prescription was sent. So I went to CVS for my prescription, and the pharmacy got nothing for me. So I had to wait 20 minutes for the pharmacy to get the prescription from this clinic. Then I had to go back home and came back to pick it up. Ridiculous. Second time, I called CVS ahead of time, and yet again, no prescription. I am so sick of this amateur unprofessionalism. I don’t know who does prescriptions but you had one job!!!

One word. Horrible.
I’m just now coming from this Dr’s clinic.
I’m new to my insurance and was assigned dr Choi as my primary. which is stupid cause I live an hour away and can’t switch Dr’s until Jan 1^st.
My experience started out not too bad, but I went in to ask for a certain type of medication.
I got my prescription got my parking validated and left. Right as my husband and I get in our car the pharmacy calls and says they have no more of the medicine he (who isn’t a doctor but a PA) prescribed.
But, that since it’s over the counter, I can get it somewhere else. OVER THE COUNTER!!! I drove an hour away to get something I could’ve just got anywhere? So, the pharmisict advised me to call the clinic back and gives me the name of a much better prescription. I call and the Korean chick says she’ll let the PA know that I called. I said PLEASE! Let him know and I mentioned to them several times I can’t just drive back cause I live over an HR away as I’m still talking to her, she just hangs up on me.
Feeling extremely frustrated my husband turns the car around and drives back and went in and straightened it all out. Bottom line, if you aren’t Korean, don’t come here. I felt uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone I know. So please, do yourself a favor and DON’T COME HERE!

I still can’t believe what happened. I called in advance and asked them to have my medical records ready for pick up and they told me I couldn’t obtain my own medical records. When I got to the clinic, I requested to speak with the manager. The manager came out from the back and she barely spoke English. However, she stated I could not obtain my medical records and gave me an authorization to release form to provide to my lawyer or specialist doctor. I asked them how they could deny a patient of his own medical records?! They clearly told me that I could not obtain my own records. This was unbelievable. I even told them it was against the law.
They’ve been getting away with something like this for such a long time. I just hate the fact that they’re doing this to other people, especially seniors.
Also, you never get to meet a real doctor.
I’m surprised Health Net has kept them on for this long.
This place needs to be shut down right away.

Dr. Edwin Choi is pleasant enough and I had no complaints about his care (though I didn’t much care for his hints that I should become vegetarian).
However, this practice is VERY specialized in providing care for the Korean community and not interested in extending beyond that community.
As a gay man in Los Angeles I assumed that any doctor will be equally sensitive and caring about medical needs. That isn’t the case here.
I approached Dr. Choi about pursuing PrEP, a medical régime that is highly effective in preventing HIV infection. He had no idea what I was talking about. I asked that he look into it and let me know but I heard nothing back.
Finally I called the office and said that I would like to talk to the doctor about this régime. They advised that I change doctors.
So, yes, I’ll be changing doctors. And I recommend that any other gay person — or really anyone who isn’t Korean — consider that if you have any issues or concerns that are atypical to what they are used to seeing, find a doctor that is either more general or who specializes in your own community. Because they won’t be accommodating.

All of my family has been going to Jonah Medical Group even before they changed their name from Wilshire Joeun medical. My husband has been to other doctors in K-​town because of his diabetes, but no one really gave attention to his concerns. But providers in this clinic has always been very attentive. Usually doctors brush off when patients ask questions about their health. Not this clinic! I am really suprised this kind of clinic even existed when everybody is so busy doing their own stuff. My mother and kids feel comfortable for their professionalism also. They trust fully for their professionalism. When patient complains about doctors, they usually have problems because they cannot get things their way. But doctor’s office should not be forced to play by patient’s demand. And this office will say right out that certain things cannot be done and they need to abide by professional code of clinic. I guess that’s the reason I have confidence that I could trust my familys health in their hand.

Ok, so I never had to use my insurance until recently. I get it through work and didn’t even know that my insurance changed my pcp until I asked HR. Turns out the doctor I originally signed up with had retired or something and the insurance just changed me to someone in the same general area. Walked in and was a little intimidated, but everything turned out fine. Heart of K-​town so I thought I’d have a problem with my lack of Korean language skills, but everyone spoke enough English and we understood each other fine. Ended up meeting with both a PA and the MD and they gave me the «lose weight, you’re getting older» speech and recommended a blood test. I hate needles so I tried to get out of it. They asked me to relax, listened while I said something~something about money, and reminded me I had insurance and the drawing wouldn’t be too bad. They were right. I must have had a bomb nurse because drawing blood was quick and relatively painless. Next thing I know I’m making some small talk while they were weighing me and doing some other check-​up things; everything was pretty cordial and comfortable. They smiled when I left and said something in Korean about taking care of myself so they would see me less often, asked me if I was married (I am) because they knew someone… Nurses were quick and knew how to find my information and I liked that they were focused on what they were doing.
I’m getting old! Next up for me is a root canal and a tooth extraction from a local dentist next month. Stay tuned for that review!

I visited here few times for my annual check up and for throat infection this year and few times last year.
For me, I got good feeling about this clinic. They speak dual language, Korean and English. Waiting time was appropriate, they called me in to get examined on time. The lady who saw me was delight and kind, she took long enough time to discuss «healthy life style» and my sickness.
One of the best thing here is that they open early as after 7 or 7: 30am, I was able to see the doctor before even I go to work, I did not use my sick time to visit a doctor. I used morning time then went to work.
In general, I grade this office with good A’s. Office atmosphere is clean and quiet. There were many elderly patients in the waiting room and they were in and out quickly with happy face. I think there are few providers not only one.
When I came into the office, the front lady greeted with smile (I don’t know it is her good day or not, but I felt welcomed from this clinic)
Lately, they have coffee and tea pot in the waiting room, you can enjoy your coffee as well while you are waiting.

I did not like them at the first visit because I got charged with amount over $ 1000 from labs they’ve sent to. I was not aware of reason being charged fro much higher medical bills. I had to really appeal the problem to them, but the staffs were nicely handled the issues. I do not know how they did exactly, but my problem was resolved soon. I decided to leave a review because I thought they deserve good starts for quick reply and willingness to help the patients in any matter. I am planning to keep the place as my primary doctor.

Sort of curious why they have so many bad reviews. I guess ppl may not really like to write a review about their pcp. I’ve been in the office longer than 3 yrs now, and love their staffs and prompt response. Most of ktown dr’s office I had been before placed patients for longer waiting time and did not take walkin. I found this place because my colleagues referred me and gave me much of good reputation. So far so true. staffs seem to get along well which directly related to quality of patient care.
Well. No regret and not much of complaints. NPs are super nice and caring too. you will get attached once you become their patient!

been going here since 2009, the staff was never really friendly but PA’s were nice. In the last six years I have never once seen the doctor. recently I changed my insurance to a higher deducible policy and I informed them that I need to pay everything out of pocket first which includes medication. So I could only go there after I finish paying my deducible first with the medication since the medication cost me $ 450 a month and I don’t have the extra money to pay them too. so when it was time for my refill the PA told the pharmacy that I was no longer their patient and if i want a refill I must go to them first, these are the same medication I been taking for 5 years.
After going here for 6 years I can’t believe they would do something like this, so I call the office and the PA won’t even return my call

Horrid place. I have been here for 7 years now. 5 of those years I was forced to because of insurance and because parents wanted me to come here for the Korean language speaking staff. 2 of the years I came because it was right next to work and it was in my comfort zone to go somewhere you’ve always been coming. But since 2 years ago, this place as made me miserable. My original doctor, REAL doctor, not a physician’s assistant or nurse with prescribing rights, has disappeared from the facility. I never see him when I’m there and I visited frequently.
Now they moved to a bigger suite and the staff are all new. They’re terrible. They are rude and there is absolutely no service or customer satisfaction at the place. Very condescending and my doctor, aka, physician’s assistant is not helping my illnesses at all. She prescribes me meds that are supposed to cure my infections within 1 day but they do not. The staff here generally are very typical older generation Koreans. They judge (you can sense this if you are keen), and are not approachable. Their service is just to get you what you pay for — consulting with a doctor.
And don’t even think about going here for women’s health. Esp. if you are a young adult. They are not kind or compassionate to you if you are sexually active in your 20’s and not married. You don’t deserve that kind of judgment. Go somewhere that is more professional.
As for costs, they’re very cheap compared to other facilities. If you’re uninsured, it’s $ 40-​$ 45 per visit for a consultation. This includes prescriptions. Any tests they perform however, come at separate costs (blood samples, urin samples, etc)

Well. I went there 5:40… door closed, So i knocked door and made a phone call
never ever answered, I stayed there for at least 15 minutes for doing same pattern; which is calling and knocking, no one had answered.
I asked pharmacy (one at the in front of Joeun medical office)
they had a no idea, but seems like it happanes a lot (I could figure it our because of their reaction) There were other person who stopped by this office. But surley He couldn’t get in.
They were closed!!!
So next morning I called them explained everything and expect her saying something like I’m Sorry or something like that
BUT!!!
She just told me everyone at the office were stayed until 6:00 ocolok and not closed
and she was so sure I was late and lied to her. Even she said she answered all phone calls. Really???
OMG!!! I could not believe it !!
why should I making excuses to boss to leaving ealry for late.
and she even sayid «So What?» «So what you want me to do?»
and kept saying «SO WHAT?» for many many times.
wow very shocking… Very Nice manners…
um. Yeah. May be. It’s all my fault to having an idea of choosing this very nice office.

Wow. How does this place have 1.5 stars. It actually should be zero stars if it was possible.
THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau & with the medical board.
I had an appointment with Dr. Edwin Choi because of a medical situation that I wanted to see a doctor for. When I got to my appointment, after waiting an hour in the waiting room, I never got to see Dr. Edwin Choi. I saw his Physician’s assistant.
They took my blood and sent me on my way. after that i got a hefty bill in the mail even though I have insurance. My insurance didn’t cover all of their extensive charges. If i wanted to see a physician’s assistant and not a doctor, why would i pay $$$$ for this??? WOULDN’T I JUST GOT TO A LOCAL CLINIC???
Idiots.
This office should be shut down immediately. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

I find it weird that this place has so many bad reviews. I guess it depends what insurance you have. Was there on February for my daughters latest immunization shots, and once again a few days ago for a physical for her new school year enrollment forms. Everything has gone okay. Their new Suite number is 247, and they are going by the name of Jonah Medical Group now.

Rude front desk staff
I scheduled an appointment. I was told that another «doctor» Eugene Park was available. He is not a doctor. I found it odd because I wasn’t able to find him on the state medical license database. Finally, I was told that he is a PHYSICIAN’s ASSISTANT. I am glad I found out. I am not sure if my insurance covers physicals by physician assistant. Furthermore, they suggested Edwin Choi. So I was like, okay, where was his medical school and license # so I can look him up. They were aghast as if I had asked for his social security number or his credit score. I reassured them that in this state, a medical license number is considered public information. Then the front desk lady said «It was weird» of me to ask so many questions. I think the state Attorney General would find her suspicious and guilty of withholding necessary information for the consumer.

This medical center has the staff and PA introducing himself as «doctor.»
Things were a little fishy when he tried to push me to get acupuncture (which he performed and caused great pain) to lower my fever.
I knew something was terribly wrong when he gave me some ibuprofen… After i specifically stated both in papers and verbally in person that i have severe allergies to NSAID.
I came home and googled the pills he gave me, and i called him to hear what he had to say.
Let me quote you what he said.
«Everything is an NSAID really. You said you can only take tylenol? Tylenol is an NSAID too.»
That statement was so ignorant it straight disclosed the fact that he did not go to medical school.
So i looked him up online.
He is not an MD, but a PA.
How the fuck was i, or all those innocent elderly Koreans, to know this when the entire staff and himself refer himself as «doctor»???
I should have taken the pills and sue the shit out of this foul facility.
I’m waiting for them to appear on the evening news one day.
