Kaiser Permanente

This establishment is a total disaster! I got fooled by their cute radio ads and after many initial mistakes we got enrolled. Contrary to what they claim on the radio ads, their doctors are the dregs of the medical field. In a simple case of infection, they gave me the wrong medication which caused me a severe case of allergy. I had to deal with excruciating pain for two days before they got it together and decided it was time to change the medication! If you saw the pictures of what this allergy did to me you would get sick to your stomach. Here’s more: The facility on Cadillac Ave. in West LA is an absolute mess! It’s dirty, crowded with patients, the wait is ridiculously long and employees who are reluctantly going through the motions but clearly hate being there. Do yourself a favor and check around before you fall into this trap.

Great doctors, the rest… not so great.
Yah, that’s right. The doctors here are great. Some of the best I’ve ever had. They care, they are professional, and they communicate well. Every medical professional I’ve encountered there has been at the top of their game.
Besides the medical staff, the rest of it is barely average… on a good day.
Things have really gone downhill here since the Affordable Healthcare Act took place. They seem to have double the patients, and haven’t increased staff very much, if at all. even cutback in areas. It means you will have to wait a while to get your appointment, or get what you need, such as an MRI. They only have one MRI «tube» which was OK a couple years ago, but not anymore, with double the patients.
If you can’t wait, and go to Urgent Care or the Emergency room, you’ll experience that it has a «county hospital» feel to it. The rooms are not clean, and the waits are really long. Actually, the whole place has kind of a county hospital feel to it. It just isn’t as clean as it could or should be. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. Others I know who go there share my sentiments. Again, the doctors and nurses at urgent care are great. Don’t be afraid to go if you need to. You’ll get great care.
When you check in for anything there, you’ll be «not so greeted» by the receptionist. Treat them gingerly. Try to humor them. They are usually not in a good mood, and can get passive aggressive on you in a jiffy. I strongly suggest checking in at one of the self service kiosks if you can. You can do what they do about 75% faster than they do it. They are super slow… like they’ve never used a computer before, or don’t know the software. OK, I’m generalizing here… on a few occasions I have actually had competent people checking me in and making appointments for me, but that’s the exception. Those are people who actually do their job the way everyone should do it. Sad but true.
They used to have several pharmacies, which was great. Now they have only two for the entire place. Prepare to wait a long time. I feel so bad for the people who work in the pharmacy. It must be so stressful to work there.
Here’s a useful tip for the pharmacy. Drop off your prescription, and then immediately go to the pickup line. By the time you reach the front of the line, your order will be ready. Works every time for me.
Parking: Two structures. I suggest the smaller structure just off Venice Blvd. It’s much easier to get in and out of, and it’s not any more of a walk to most of the facility than parking at the larger structure.
Try to make your appointments for as early in the day as possible. It will make your life a lot easier. They get backed up, and it’s always packed.
Again, the doctors and nurses are great. They really are. Once you’re in, you’ll get great care. It’s just the jumping through the hoops part and dealing with the generally poor attitudes of the staff that is really frustrating.

This hospital will have you waiting in the emergency room foreverrrrrrr! They are so slow with everything and the staff there are always giggling and socializing instead of taking care of business.

Very disappointing, negative experience at the WLA Kaiser optometry dept today due to the optometrist who seemed to completely lack in customer service. He was so rushed and disagreeable I will be very surprised if my prescription he wrote is correct. All other staff were professional and pleasant, especially the woman who sold me my new frames, Debbie. They are the reason for the two stars, otherwise there would be none.

This hospital and the sorry ass doctors, nurses, and social workers need to be investigated. I have never seen such a bunch of disorganized, lying. mofos u every want to know. this medical facility does not give a dam about nobody they just want your co-​pay. The are the kings of mis diagnose!!! — stars!

Nurses were amazing! The staff there made sure that I was comfortable and had all that I needed at all times. And I liked that I could have as many. visitors at once as I wanted

Graetttt service, my wife has give birth to our new baby and the service was awesome and the doctors and nurses really take care my baby and wife

Love this hospital. Never a problem here. One star deducted for having to pay for parking, & on top of that, they don’t take debit or credit cards! sigh

I came here because of an emergency and there wasn’t a Kaiser on the a address shown. Someone should correct it because it can delay people from actually getting help!

Poor poor poor ! Rude bunch of people! And they’re online paying method sucks! They have no direct link to a guest check out ! Horrible everything !

Really great facility with all the different doctors in one place! Plus a pharmacy. If you come during the day you will have to pay for parking but Plenty of free street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Just read the signs.
Also the Pharmacy is 24 hours so I usually go at night to lose the crowds and that way I’m in and out in about 20 mins with free parking I believe at 9p/​10p– just ask the attendant when you pull up what time they leave, they change the parking hours.

There is just so much you can do when in the mercy of the medical establishment. We try to be professional and patient and all we ask us for the staff to be professional and courteous. Both parties must make an effort to help each other out. Especially when you are dealing with a deadly disease of a friend or family member. There is really no way to try to change someone who has attitude or is very not service friendly. All we can do is hope that we get the correct treatment and service.

Totally sick of Kaiser’s bureaucracy! All the great customer service «awards» with all the red tape to squash them! My son’s coverage got dropped bc Kaiser failed to inform me of a simple piece of paper that I needed to go to Member Services to fill out. Three months later my son is without his coverage and I have wasted 25 + hrs of my life dealing with their incompetence!!! I’ve jumped thru all their lame hoops, had to connect the dots for them more than several times, and have made three complaints with their member services. Finally got it figured out an still can’t get a Rx filled.
As long as nothing goes wrong Kaiser is great… and when it does Kaiser SUCKS.

I was terrified to change to Kaiser from a wonderful PPO, but the boss of the money decided to do just that. That being said, I have been pleasantly surprised by the attention and knowledge of the doctors here. I have been to Urgent Care already and seen a pediatrician and they have all been great. Only bad comments: A. It’s a big facility to get around and finding someone to take blood on a weekend took 32 min. B. If only I didn’t feel like I was in a line at Walmart it would be that much better. All in all my fears did not come to fruition.

Mike, the front desk RN at Urgent Care is awesome!!! He made getting a TB test fun. Okay, not fun (there was a needle!), but his positive energy and professionalism did make it convenient. He explained the whole process and kept me laughing. During my short wait, I had the opportunity to see him lighten the mood of several other patients and handle some surly folks with appropriate firmness and a smile. My check up visit was just as pleasant, again because of Mike. Kaiser, you are lucky to have this one!
