This salon and the stylists have been here for a long time because they are so good.
It’s very in expensive, great prices, everyone is really nice and kind. There’s valet parking and they validate. They have a play area, and toy cars for the kids to sit in while they get a hair cut. Also TV’s with kid movies to help keep the kids busy and distracted.

Great haircut for my 4 year old!

We have twins and our son got a great haircut. He was screaming and moving the whole time and his stylist was calm and did an excellent job. Unfortunately, our daughter received a really bad cut from the owner. I asked for «pretty and girly» and we walked out with a choppy blunt boy cut that’s completely uneven in the back. I’m upset that she walked out looking like a boy.
The salon was not clean with many of the cars covered in old hair that had not been cleaned.

I’m not a huge poster on Unilocal especially when it comes to hair salons because so many people who work at them make up a stellar review about themselves or the place under an alias. I’ve been a colorist in high end salons since 1998 with my foundation from Vidal Sassoon. I had the best experience today at this spot. Normally I’d just take my 3 year old autistic Son to my work but the last few times the typical salon atmosphere hasn’t been a good fit. I took him in and wow what a great experience! The stylist Mo was so patient and lovely, gave him breaks when he needed it, let him change the car chair when he was getting agitated and even watched him for a minute when I had to use the restroom. They have toys incorporated in their retail as well. As far as the actual cut she took the time to use scissors and even texturized his cut after it was done, not just a lame kids cut. Also the price was awesome, what they charged including tip wouldn’t cover a blow dry at most specialty salons. Definitely a great experience for my Son and myself and would strongly recommend it to any family who has a child with sensory issues.

I came here for my sons first haircut. I had no idea where to go and this was the first one that came up on google.
Some positive things:
1. They were flexible with the appointment. They got me in same day and even changed the time for me when I realized we had a conflict.
2. My son was hysterical the second they put the cape on, I ended up having to take him out of the car seat and hold him while the lady cut his hair. She was very patient and surprisingly got his hair cut with out nicking him or me AND didn’t cut it to short. How she managed that is beyond me and she deserves 5 stars for that cut.
Some other things:
1. The car seats were adorable, but like other reviewers said a little dingy. The section w/​toys was a little dirty also, but that is normal for a place that has been around for a while.
2. My biggest complaint was the price. On the website it says:

Plus they have a $ 4 off coupon offer for first time customers. I was expecting to pay $ 21 + tip.
When I got there, the lady behind the desk (who seemed less than thrilled to be working that day) told me it would be $ 27. I told her the website said $ 25 and I had a coupon, she shrugged and said, it’s $ 27 and that is with the coupon applied. I was so busy trying to calm my son down i just gave her my card and asked if she could just add the tip to the total. She was a bit exasperated and said, well don’t you have cash? Yes, but since the lady just dealt with a hysterical toddler I wanted to give her a better tip, but the desk girl just kept looking at me, so I just said fine and gave the tip in cash.
The «package» was pretty bogus. Had he been a good customer and sat there for the haircut I would have felt jipped. Thankfully I took lots of pics before we went. It wasn’t that he wasn’t looking in the picture, it is a dingy/​blurry pic and you can’t really see anything. Especially what his hair looked like «before»
I guess if you are looking for a magical first haircut experience with a great memento this probably isn’t your place. If you don’t know how your kid will react and want someone to perform a miracle if they get hysterical — you’re golden.
3. Kids Kut has nothing to do with this so really isn’t fair to include it but parking there is ridicules. It’s a regular parking lot and they make you valet, the guy drove my car 2 feet into a spot then stood at my door and looked at me like I was a jerk and continued to stand there after I gave him a dollar. I just said thank you and shut the door, he yelled to his partner — nothing from this one! Really dude? So rude.

I love this place. This is the only place my grandson will get his haircut. Friendly staff clean shop. My only complaint is parking valet which I’m not a big fan of. Overall it’s a great place.

We’ve been taking our kids to Kids Kut for about 9 years, ever since our oldest was about two and we’d tried a number of other places with mixed results.
Maureen is just lovely and our kids adore her and we frequently run into school friends there, so we know that other parents feel the same way we do.
My son has very thick hair and Maureen is always so careful to trim it so that it doesn’t cowlick. As he goes to Catholic school, his hair has to be fairly short, so it’s tricky to cut it right, but she always does.
My daughter has long hair, so she doesn’t need it cut as frequently. However, as she usually accompanies her brother on his visits, Maureen, when she has a spare moment, will do a fancy braid for her, which she of course adores.
Lastly, on the occasions when Maureen wasn’t working, we’ve tried out the other stylists and they did very high quality work as well.

The Bad: the parking is ridic. We go near closing time and NO ONE is in the lot and we still have to pay $ 2 for parking. Silly. The price of the haircut is not cheap, but to me worth it.
The Good: My kid has a severe haircut phobia including shaking, screaming and yelling. Here, he likes «Moe». She has a great way with kids. Also, his hair always looks great. For a little expense ($ 2 parking) and the $ 20 haircut plus tip, I will likely keep coming back because my son is not afraid here.

Very happy with Kids Kuts. I brought my son here when he turned one. Today I brought him back. I was happy with his first haircut. I am extremely happy with today’s. My son has long curly hair. The stylists here understand that they cannot cut a lot off because it will curl up and look awkward. Gladys was our stylist today. She was gentle and kind with my son. She did a great job. I would definitely recommend her. We will be requesting that she cuts our son’s hair when we return.

They did a solid job for my daughters haircut. Reading the other reviews, sure there could be an attitude adjustment from the staff, but they do a good job. Yasi did the haircut and she was great with my daughter. Cute chairs, cartoon dvd’s and free lollipops were a plus. We used the 4 dollar coupon on their website and they honored without a problem, bringing the haircut to 16 dollars. We parked for over a half an hour and there was no charge. Overall I was pleased with the end result.

So it was time for our sons first haircut so we tried this place cause it’s close to our home. The receptionist wasn’t overly friendly but she got us in for an appointment. The stylist was great even finished the job on the run literally following out son around and cutting when possible. Price is about the same as most other kid friendly salons.

I have never in my life have been so upset with a service EVER! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go here!!! I have never wanted to get home fast so that I could leave a nasty review EVER! Let me try to calm down so I could write my experience…
1) When we walked in the 1^st thing I noticed were bunch of grumpy faces… the place was empty and the stylists were all sitting together, no one smiling or saying hello when we walked in. Already a bad sign when walking into a kid’s place…
2) Sure the car seats were cute but the toys and the car itself looked soooo dirty. There were hair everywhere and makes you wonder if they were ever cleaned
3) I decided to do the «1^st hair cut package» which according to the website was $ 25 dollars, only $ 5 dollars more than the cost of a regular hair cut which was $ 20. So when I was making the appointment, the lady told me that the cost is now $ 30. But when I said that it said it was $ 25 on the website, she told me to print that out and they will honor the website price. Also they had a $ 4 coupon that we could print and bring with us for the hair cut. Well, when I got there the lady told me that the 1^st hair cut package was $ 26 dollars, that the hair cut is 16 and the package is 10. its only 1 dollar more than website so I let it go BUT when I gave them the 4 dollar coupon, they said that the 26 dollar was with the coupon!!! Wow… but at this point I was so upset and just wanted to get out of there so I said whatever and left
4) This so called «package» was suppose to come with before & after POLORID picture and signed certificate with the stylist and lock of hair. I assumed that it would come in a cute little package but NOPE. They take pix with a regular camera, which they just print out and the certificate is a stupid piece of paper that the receptionist just writes in his name and the stylist’s name (not even signed and the writing looked like a 3^rd grader). She even forgot to give me lock of his hair so the stylist later scrapped it off the FLOOR to give me some of his hair… seriously!!! and just put into an envelope… I paid extra $ 10 for this piece of shit??? OH and when I was making the appointment, the receptionist said that they only do the «package» on friday, sat & sunday because there is someone special that take the pictures… but when I got there it was just the receptionist taking the stupid picture so does no one else no how to work a stupid camera???
5) the so called «stylist» looked. well to put it nicely NOT PROFESSIONAL. And when I was making the appointment the receptionist told me to bring in a pix of the hair style I like and so I just brought a picture of my baby’s hair the way I like to style it and just gave her simple instructions to just shorten it (I even printed out his hair picture and marked where I want shortened etc) but what was the point? She just started cutting his hair however she wanted. And to make the matters worse, she did a horrible job!!! There are parts of his hair that are all choppy!!! I could of done a better job and I don’t do hair!!!
6) back to the package… so for the before and after picture, they were all rushed! They didn’t even clean off the hair on his face and he was crying and there she was trying to take a picture!!! The stylist gave me a dirty looking towel asking if I want to wipe his face!!! I just gave her a look and asked for a tissue. WTF…
7) Now lets talk about the smell of the place. They were eating something very stinky and so I thought it was a bit unprofessional to be eating out in the open with stinky food… my opinion. Usually the other places that I get my hair cut, they eat in the back or whatever to keep the smell in the salon clean.
8) Parking… I know it has nothing to do with them but still since I’m leaving the review of the area I will just include it. They told me that 1^st hour is free with validation. We got the validation and we were in there for less than 25 min. They still charged us 2 dollars and the guy would not let go of my car until he got a tip… well at this point, I was already furious with the salon so leaving the parking lot with this made me even more outraged!!!
I will NEVER EVER EVER go there again and I am writing this review to prevent any one else from making the same mistake that I made of going there. I mean this was my baby’s 1^st hair cut experience and they killed it!!! (in a horrific way)

Compared to all other kid’s haircutting places in LA this is the best one. They give good haircuts, have cheap toys, movies — and they ladies there are always nice. i’ve tried all of the place more than once…

This place is average, but certainly not bad by any means… It is worth going here if you are in a hurry or on a budget. If your looking for the worlds more stylish hair cut and lookin to drop some cash, maybe go elsewhere.
The ladies cutting the hair are very nice, and my son loves the big TV they have in the room, always playing a cool show for him to watch (He is 3 years old). They have a fun variety of cars, trucks, etc. to sit your kid into, so that gets them pretty happy from the beginning.
When we have the time and money to get a great cut, yeah we go to another specific place, but this spot has helped us out a few times in a rush, so they deserve some props because we always came away happy.
Pros: His cut is always what I asked for, its not pricey, he has a good time, everyone is nice and I have never waited more than a few minutes and the cuts are always done quickly.
Summary: Good place overally and worth going here for the reasons stated, a spot like this has its purpose and your kid will have a good experience…

We have taken our kids here multiple times. The older kids love it, they can sit in a cool car ‘chair’ that is made from one of those kid cars they can drive themselves. They normally show kid movies on a large TV, and they do try to make the kids happy. The waiting children can play with some toys in the back (gross from a mom’s view always dirty looking a covered with hair, yuck). They also have a restroom for customers. In my experience they did little to help make my younger one comfortable enough to sit in the car for a cut.
Other negatives; sometimes the kids got suckers, sometimes balloons, some days just (inexpensive small) clips they put in their hair once they were done cutting it. Kids didn’t know what to expect day to day. Sometimes they can pick a movie and other times a movie is not even offered. At the bank they know they will get a lollipop and like expecting it. We never seamed to get the same stylist, and prices seamed too high for a basic simple cut (spray bottle wet, and no layers) Kids love consistency and this place just doesn’t provide that.
They also say no appointment needed, but when we returned out last time, we were told in a not so nice way, that we really should have for a weekend. So I left, fine, and came back on a weekday and was rudely told one would be able to take them for hours. That was the last straw. Convenience of location does not matter if you don’t feel appreciated as a loyal customer. There are a lot more kid salons out there, and we are going else where. Fine place for once, or twice but I wouldn’t rely on it as a permanent kids salon. (Also lot is a pain for parking, valet only and hair salon doesn’t validate long enough if you have to wait long like on the weekend)

Horrible place to take kids!!! Not kid friendly at all. Hairstylist was very rude just because my three year old has crying because he was scared to get a hair cut. Would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I will not return to Kids Kut. When we first arrived, I kid you not, two of the women were outside smoking! There was no shampooing of the hair, just a cold spray bottle to wet down their hair. The cuts were fine, nothing special and they didn’t spend any time blow drying their hair or styling it.
The final straw was everything was just a little dirty.

Don’t take your children here. Slow, bad haircuts and have no clue how to deal with children. Maybe if they spent less on merch and the giant screen TV and hired professional hairdressers who work with children…

Pros: My son got a good haircut. I was happy about how it turned out. $ 4 coupon for first timers was nice.
Cons: The Jeep chairs were cute but looked dirty. They’re supposed to open at 10, made an appointment for that time, person didn’t show up until 10:15. Was extra annoying b/​c I showed up 20 minutes early because I didn’t want to be late. She apologized and said there was traffic. She was the only one there and answered about 5 or 6 phone calls throughout my son’s haircut. She put on a PG rated movie. It was a cartoon but the most violent thing my almost 3 year old son has ever seen — guns, shooting, things blowing up, hitting, fighting. Not cheap — full price is $ 20 plus because she was late I spent an extra $ 2.50 on parking b/​c went past the validation time limit.
Torn as to whether or not I’d go back.
