Just took out my braces!!! I love this place so much! They changed my life and they made my teeth look fantastic! Kwons is a miracle center.

Dr. Donald Kwon and his staff are wonderful! I just finished my treatment this week after 2 long years of lingual braces on the top (brackets and wire are on the back of the teeth so they are invisible) and regular braces on the bottom. Since I decided to get braces as a working professional in my 20’s, I was hesitant to get the traditional braces because of their looks. I wasn’t a good candidate for Invisalign because of all the extractions I needed due to crowding. I went to 3 other places for consultation and no one else recommended lingual braces. My braces were so unnoticeable that a lot of people didn’t even know I had them. Dr. Kwon has the expertise and the patience to achieve the result you want.
Tip: the picture they take of you during the initial consultation stays in their system throughout the course of the treatment. Don’t drop in looking so horrendous like I did.

Just simply… when my friends ask me if I have any recommendations on where to get braces I tell them NEVER to go to Kwon’s orthodontist. I remember there was a lady yelling at them while I was getting my routine check up saying she wants her money back because her teeth look so ugly. I look at my teeth every day and compare with other’s having very straight and nice smile/​teeth and regret I took my business here. I’m thinking of getting braces again to fix the ugliness they have made and I’m very sure I won’t be going back to Dr. Kwon.

So happy with my daughter’s teeth!!! They look amazing you have helped my two nieces, my nephew and my son is next!!! Thank you and the staff they are great as well. Definitely recommend it and cherry on top you have a beautiful office/​waiting room, with donuts coffee great magazines etc! LOVE MY TEETH!!!
I just got my braces off after 2 years 2 months. All of the staff members are so friendly and professional. Dr Kwon has taken good care of me. My teeth look perfect. The office is very clean and has very convenient validated parking. The reception area offers tea, water and coffee. Breakfast bread are offered on Saturdays. My friends all have braces but my treatment with Dr Kwon does not compare to others. They are very flexible with my schedule and able to see me right away for any emergency. They truly care that I am comfortable during my 2 years in treatment. I would definitely recommend anyone who is considering braces. Consultation is free! Love my teeth! I would give Dr Kwon 100 stars if I could! I absolutely love him!
I had lingual braces for a year and half because I couldn’t have any visible braces because of my job. Naturally, I love to eat– so I had a million emergencies! My wire would pop out, my brackets would fall off– Dr D and the staff were always SO attentive and nice about it. They are genuinely the best people ever!
On a side note, I’m a perfectionist and I’m very picky. That means I had an exact image of how I wanted my teeth to look.
After oh-​so-​many appointments and emergencies, finally I am brace-​free!
All of my direct family members are dentists so you know Dr D is amazing when 3 other dentists (and so many more) thinks your teeth are pretty. I am forever grateful to Dr D and all the staff members that dealt with me.

Ps. Dr D is so great with appointment time. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I love it when doctors keep their appointment time! And parking was always so convenient. Love love love!

just got a new retainer (the one from my previous orthodontist broke). everything was a reasonable price and the office was punctual and friendly. i am very satisfied

I had my braces done here around 2009 – 2011. Being a high school student with little knowledge about orthodontics and naïve, complete faith in the professional dentist, I had 4 teeth extracted as per Dr. Kwon’s instructions, 2 each on top and bottom. This resulted in my teeth being pushed way back and losing support for my lips, resulting in smaller and thinner looking lips, and a dished-​in profile. I am moderately satisfied with the straightness of my teeth, but dissatisfied with the way my mouth looks like. Moral of the story: if an orthodontist recommends you have extractions done, always get a second opinion!

Disclaimer: I got my braces here from 2005 – 2007 so my review may not be as up-​to-​date/​accurate. I know for sure their business has improved once Dr. Kwon’s son joined the practice. However, this is a super delayed review for my experience with the older Dr. Kwon.
I came here because… well like many other Korean parents, my mom chose my orthodontist from some Korean magazine & Dr. Kwon’s face was plastered on the page with all of his certifications and awards. What kind of Korean wouldn’t fall for that? Seriously… so many of my friends all went to Dr. Kwon. We would be at a retreat site and then bust out our retainers & we would all have the same exact case. He’s that well-​known within the Korean community.
Here is a detailed account of my dissatisfaction. I was in high school so I didn’t know any better.
1) I had to remove 4 teeth to make space for my teeth to grow out. He makes a lot of his patients remove teeth. Man…4 teeth = a lot & that was super painful.
2) The majority of your care will be done by people other than Dr. Kwon. He just comes and looks at your teeth really quickly for like… a few minutes. I’m sure this is how many gigantic orthodontic offices operate — but it did feel a little impersonal for me
3) The front desk lady… maybe doubling as an assistant orthodontist was always so mean to me. I don’t know what I did wrong but she was always rude to me. If my mom came with me, then she would put on a fake smile.
4) If you look at my bottom teeth, they are all crooked. It’s ridiculous because I’m wearing permanent retainers (which suck by the way, because food always gets stuck in your teeth & they’re hard to clean & dental hygienists always complain about how it’s hard to clean and sometimes they almost stab you with their cleaning device) + a night retainer… so I don’t know how my teeth got so crooked. When I went back into the orthodontist’s office to complain about the status of my teeth, they blamed it on me. My permanent retainer had fallen out for less than a day because I bit into an apple and the wire snapped off. If my teeth shifted that much because of a half day permanent retainer removal… I don’t know what that means. I got a slap on the wrist and they said if it happens again, they will charge me. –_​–
5) I had to get my wisdom teeth removed shortly after I had taken off my braces. I really think the orthodontist should’ve looked at my X-​Rays and informed me that my wisdom teeth would soon need to be removed. I think this also jacked the alignment of my top teeth
–Overall, I would say… go to the younger Dr. Kwon because he’s great but avoid the older Dr. Kwon like the plague… because my teeth are not straight and my mom paid over 3k for me to have long-​lasting straight teeth. My sister is a dentist and she agrees that Dr. Kwon didn’t do a great job. I mean… if you look at my teeth, you will see how shoddy his work was.
–Conclusion: I’m sure their business has improved… but I still say do research and go somewhere that will take care of you better and not just treat you like one amongst thousands. I’m sure there’s other places… because this office is overrated.

I had extremely crooked/​overly crowded teeth ever since I was a kid and never got around to braces until I was 25. I wasn’t too sure which ortho would be best, so I shopped around a couple of orthos in Ktown hoping to find the right one, and I’m so glad that I chose Kwon Orthodontics. All the staffs here have been nothing but friendly and kind since Day 1, and all my visits to the office has been a pleasant experience. I’ve never missed an appointment, always went on time, and after a year and 9 months, I finally got my braces off. I’m still getting minor adjustments with the retainers, but I am extremely happy with the overall outcome and I would highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking into getting braces.

Just a note: My dad is a dentist, but I attend college on literally the opposite side of the country, which makes it difficult for him to know what’s going on with my teeth.
My wisdom teeth had been growing in relatively painlessly for some time when I decided I finally had to have them pulled out. We came here, where an oral surgeon numbed me up and extracted all four. I wasn’t put under anesthesia; all they did was numb me. In fact, nothing had to be surgically done to my gums or teeth at ALL during the entire 15-​minute procedure. It was basically like 4 simple and straightforward tooth extractions, and yet I ended up with a $ 1600 bill, which my dad said was ridiculous given the ease of my procedure. It shouldn’t have been more than a couple hundred a tooth, IF THAT. The facility was really nice and all of the staff are friendly, but I don’t think that justifies the high price tag.
I wouldn’t advise against going in for a consultation if you need braces or some work done on your teeth, as I think the staff is competent and professional. But I would be cautious, and remember to make sure you know how much your procedures cost before you are completely blindsided like I was.

After having had adult braces for 5 yrs (from another place) I was stuck with my teeth constantly moving whenever I removed my retainer for a length of time. I needed a permanent retainer but they aren’t very popular in Los Angeles. Dr. Kwon is one of the only orthos in L.A. that provides them. I got them done by the son and at first it was a problem in the front. I couldn’t close my mouth or chew because the cement was too big. They fixed it for me by shaving it down and it was great. Eventually it had to be replaced on that same tooth (not a very long time) but they did it for free since they think it may be been due to the shaving down. I have been in happy bliss ever since. I’m calling them today because my front tooth chipped and I need a fix for a good price. I’m an aspiring actress and teeth are very important.

I would highly recommend Kwon Orthodontics if you’re thinking about getting braces — I got lingual braces several months ago and am extremely pleased with the progress of my teeth so far.
Dr. Joong and Dr. Donald Kwon are great. When I had my free consultation, they explained what had to be done to straighten my teeth and gave me different options of what I could do, which is how I ended up choosing the lingual braces. Dr. Donald Kwon has been checking my teeth, and he’s very patient and professional.
The staff is also really nice and helpful. They were very flexible with my schedule since I could only go in on Saturdays. They also give you a call the day before your appointment as a friendly reminder.
I’ve had a great experience so far and am confident that they’ll do a great job. Definitely check it out if you’re looking to get braces!

Unlike most of my metal-​mouth peers, I got my braces at the ripe age of twenty-​something. :) I decided on Kwon Orthodontics after getting consultations at all of the well-​known orthodontists in the LA area and have never regretted it.
You get the best of both worlds at this office – Dr. Kwon Sr. brings years and years of experience and expertise, while Dr. Kwon Jr. is efficient and knowledgeable about all of the newest available technologies and treatments. Both doctors are honest, professional, and good at what they do.
I like to be informed when it comes to any kind of medical procedure, as it is unfamiliar territory. Here, I am never kept in the dark. Every step of my process is explained, then implemented. Plus, the staff here is pleasant and friendly.
Over the years, nearly everyone I’ve known has had braces done at Kwon Orthodontics. I can see why!!!

I went in for my first appointment (consultation) today after everyone and their moms (literally) referred me over to Dr. Kwon’s for braces. I was a bit nervous as I was seated in one of the chairs but Dr. Kwon came by and made me feel right at home. Then, Dr. Kwon checked my teeth, took a few head shots, and x-​rays. After a bit he sat me down and told me exactly what I needed, how it was going to be done, and how long it was going to take. What I appreciated the most was that I had told the younger Dr. Kwon earlier that I had a specific date that I wanted my braces to be off and both Dr. Kwons had discussed it and had taken it into consideration before giving me the final run down.
I felt VERY well taken care of by ALL the staff– including the front desk people, the assistants, and both Doctors, and I am excited to have my teeth look as pretty as all my friends’ who have gotten their teeth done here.

I went to see Dr. Kwon for the first time when I was in 6^th grade. It was like one of those rites of passage during puberty. Thank goodness I didn’t need to wear headgear! It was painful sometimes, but when my treatment was completed, my teeth were straight and pretty.
I had to go back recently because my bottom teeth were beginning to become crooked again. I should have worn my retainers so I wouldn’t have to go back, but I really wanted straight teeth and needed new retainers. The new orthodontist, Dr. Donald Kwon, fit me for the new invisalign trays. I love them! It takes some time to get used to them, but it definitely is working!
I love that they have two different offices. One in Koreatown, close to where I work and one in La Canada, close to where I live. It makes going to see the orthodontist more convenient.
Also, they accept most dental insurance carriers, which is great. It didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. Yay!!!

Braces suck. Two long years of metal mouth jokes, cut gums, food getting stuck everywhere, and pain at every tightening. But for those of you with f’ed up teeth like mine, it’s a necessary evil to a winning smile.
So if you have to go through with all of the suckiness braces entail, you might as well go to the best Orthodontist around. Granted, I’ve never had braces with anyone else, so I cant really compare, but Dr. Kwon is awesome. He’s super nice, his staff is friendly, and they were always able to accommodate me when I need to change my schedule around. And most importantly, he fixed my teeth. No longer will I have to be self conscious of a snaggle-​toothed smile.
It’s been years since I’ve had my braces removed and my teeth are still as perfect as can be. I cannot recommend Dr Kwon highly enough. He saved my smile, my confidence, and any prospects I have of ever getting a girl to talk to me.
