L2Kontemporary is not on the main drag of the Chinatown Arts District (CAD) which is mostly in the Chung King Road area. This gallery has provocative in your face art often.

One of my favorite pieces here was a George Washington painting with a crass text message covering his face — simply AWESOME!!! Sometimes the art is too in your face to the point it gets kind of annoying though. They had some gory paintings I didn’t really care for. On some occasions this gallery has had really nice colorful mainstream art. Once it had two dimensional macaroni sculptures on the wall. Each piece of macaroni was painted and the finished ensemble was nicely psychedelic. Whenever I come to check out art in Chinatown I never miss this place. I don’t remember a time when I have come here that I did not enjoy at least one piece.

Closed Monday-​Wednesday. This gallery is only open in the afternoon after 1:00 p.m. I don’t like the collages or paintings of their guest artists. I really like Richard Godfrey’s Abstract Expressionist oils. They represent painters and sculptors but I don’t understand why some of them are still entering juried shows.
