well, Tony sold the place and the magical fun atmosphere went with it. the food is cheap packaged costco junk, no overflowing Agua fresca, no sustainable packaging, the only thing that remains is the name. even the delicious burritos now seem like standard Mexican fare, cheap and with questionable ingredients. well, some things change, and some things change for the worse. I’m not coming back. and nobody speaks English. so what did I order? who knows

Had a torta, it was ok. I had to ask if it was open, everything was quiet and the lights were dimmed. More like a quick spot than a sit down place.

I used to love this place. The food use to be good. Management has changed and it sucks. The menu is the same but the food is different. I ordered veggie tacos and the guy gave me microwaved rice and beans on a tortilla with cheese and salsa. There use to be veggies in the veggie tacos. The chips and salsa used to be so good! They’re now store bought chips. This is the last time I’m ever coming here!

Went here with a group of 6 kids on a field trip. Kinda small seating, but well worth it. If you just want a quick bite in the garment district, this is the place to go. I ordered the milanesa torta and it was awesome! The torta roll wasn’t to hard, it was perfect. The milanesa was sliced thin and breaded just right. Next time I come to this part of LA, I’ll be back here.

Went there yesterday during lunch time and it was closed although Unilocal said it was open. Screw it, not coming back.

The food was satisfying. I had a chicken burrito. The meal combo special they had was a good price too. The workers were really nice. Idk the guy’s name who worked there when I went in… but thank you for the good experience and customer service. Two thumbs up!

This place used to be amazing before they closed and changed(half?) ownership — this is also my first review EVER on Unilocal… we ordered online and when we went to pick up the order, they couldn’t find the order from eat24, and seemed to be unsure of where to look to find it. We reordered with them in person and they put us at the end of the line,(which is fine), however we ended up sitting and waiting for 50 minutes. The place seems saturated in old cooking oil and smelled awful, the cooks were slow and acted like they had never stepped foot in the kitchen. 50 minutes later we left with our food, nervous to give it a try, with good reason. I picked up my fish taco and the fish fell through the oil-soaked tortilla, along with the ice burg lettuce, not cabbage, ice burg lettuce. The fish had no taste, except that of a freezer and old oil. I guess the silver lining is that it only cost $ 6? I wish i would’ve just thrown $ 6 away rather than try to eat it… I miss the old La Torta Loca…

What can I say about this place, the reviews looked legit. So me and my coworkers wanted to order lunch here. We called in at 8 am to ask a few questions. We noticed that they delivered and used EAT24 but had limited items on there compared to the menu on their site, but no answer. We then tried again multiple times between 8 am– 10 am. We most have called over 15 times. We finally got a hold of them when we used a cell phone. Apparently, they do not pickup blocked calls. The person then tells us that the EAT24 menu is what they offered(then why have the menu listed with other foods on the website). We still wanted to give them a try and put our order through EAT24 for 5 items. Food took an hour and a half to arrive, which they compensated with free diet cokes. After the delivery guy left we realized they forgot 1 item! It gets better, we specifically said NOCHEESE and SOURCREAM on 1 of the burritos since the person can’t eat it. Guess what… there was cheese and sour cream. She couldn’t eat it. Then the other burrito, which was supposed to be tinga(chicken) had asada instead. SMH. Food was horrible and customer service was worst. Good thing we used EAT24 and we got some credit back for the burrito with cheese and sour cream. I would not recommend this place.

After a Walk by 9th Street Pizzeria, and them not having their famous garlic knots, I walked to the fish grill, looks dead and the big guy in the front was super Rude, Still on my desperate Lunch mission I decided to give La Torta Loca a shot, they have 1 dollar tacos On. A Tuesdaytacos where delicious Asada was amazing And the shrimp Taco was equally delicious with. Cream and Guacamole .We had a kid serving the beverages he was cute ! I left him a tip. Food was very good I would comeback.

After being close for awhile it is now reopened. although the it seems that the menu is changing. Seems like it’s under new management or owner. Let time decide if it’s as good as before :)

Posted hours on Unilocal need to be updated. I drove out of my way on my way to work to try this place at 645 am. They weren’t open. Maybe I’ll find out how good they are next time they are open.

I founded them on EAT24, and they were on the top 10 restaurants in the area when I did the search, unbelievable! this place is a big No No! The food tasted like burned beans, ordered the steak and chicken burritos and there was barely any steak or chicken on them. If I could, I’ll will give them 0 stars. The worst 40 dollars I have ever spend!

Best torta ever!!! First time and I’m so coming back guy that took my order was really nice I think he was the owner. Insides small and they have two tables outside. Well loved what I got a torta de asada.

Location: GREAT, it’s in the fashion district. Walk up is convenient, not enough seating. Food: it’s not bad but it is bland. Don’t go expecting real Mexican flavors. Honestly it’s like they are scared to season their food. No salt, onion, oregano, cumin… It’s nice to see they are trying by using authentic cheeses but the flavor is not there. Service: TERRIBLE! the man who helped me treated me as if he had better things to do than take my order. I do not recommend this place. I will not be returning. I did not finish my food.

Ordered this 6 months ago for a work meeting — everyone loved it. BUT they were super late… got here half-way into the meeting. Ordered again last week — bomb food, of course and they actually were only a few minutes late. Oh and they missed an order, but that could’ve been our fault as we phone’d it in 20mins after our original call. Lesson learned, they aren’t very detailed and not very punctual, but I can find a way to work around that as their food is that good and that reasonably priced.

In a nutshell: Great mexican spot with healthier options to choose from near Santee Alley. Had to take a break from my NYC reviews. I’m way behind. This spot was awesome so I had to write about it first chance I got. On the way back to my car from Pressed Juicery, I decided to hit this spot up, as I heard their shrimp tacos were really good. Parking 4⁄5 Park at a meter or in a lot. Parking is fairly cheap compared to the rest of DTLA. Ambience 4⁄5 Small spot. Two 4-person tables and a two seater inside, and a couple 2-seater tables outside. I enjoyed the salsa music playing inside… even though salsa is more Caribbean. Service 5⁄5 The owner/manager and employees are all really nice. The owner was all about describing menu items to people. It’s obvious that a few people I saw today were regulars. The owner was very personable with all his customers, and he made sure everyone’s order was done accurately. Food 5⁄5 Shrimp Taco 5⁄5 I had one… I should’ve had 4. The shrimp tasted super fresh. The sauce and guacamole were well-balanced. Carne Asada Burrito 5⁄5 I got mine without rice or beans. The meat was quite good, and not like most Carne Asada in LA… thankfully. Hot Sauce 5⁄5 Really tasty and spicy! YUMM!!! I would come back just for this!!! Overall 5⁄5 I am coming back here to try their breakfast items. I was really happy with the quality of the dishes I got. Looking forward to my next visit for sure.

Average at best but one of the lesser evils in the abysmal dining selection of Santee Alley Fashion District. The seating and layout is a bit strange, they are definitely going for that tiki-vibe a la Cabo Cantina. I echo some of the sentiments about the young lady who serves and sometimes works the cashier — she is a beautiful lady but wow, she has some attitude like she doesn’t even want to be there… like she is doing me a favor to take my order. I feel like she must have some kind of family connection to the owner, wife/daughter, something… but that’s just a hunch. The meat for carne asada is very cheap and chewy. It’s not like asada meat is expensive. You can take a 3 or 4 minute drive down to King Taco and see how it is done right. The prices aren’t cheap either. I could walk down to Market a couple blocks away and get a meal there for a similar price range so it’s tough. The chips are fried on the spot. It is nice because they are hot and all but you often get a lot of undercooked chips in your basket. The guacamole is not fresh guacamole but more like liquid avocado sauce. I think that is nasty and it is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to cutting corners with Mexican food. Despite all of my objections I still come here often because like I said the food selection in this area is just absolutely HORRIBLE.

This is the best torta I’ve ever had. I couldn’t get over how delicious it was. The bread itself was so soft and it had the perfect amount of meat. I ate the whole thing! I called ahead of time while in the area and ordered an asada and chorizo torta for pick up. Parking is tough so I called to see if it was ready so I could run in and leave my emergency lights on. The girl was kind enough to run it out to me and brought back my change. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area. Enjoy!

Let’s go straight to the point. Tony provides awesome service, the cooks make your food with TLC, it tastes awesome, and the price is very reasonable. I used to go all the time for their tortas, now I’m on a taco/burrito kick so I’ve been obsessing over those, and recently discovered the amazingness that is called their shrimp tacos. On Tuesdays, they’re only $ 1. I prefer the grilled shrimp over the battered(p.s. I rarely ever order a shrimp dish yet I crave these). The agua frescas change from time to time, ask for a sample prior to ordering if you’re hesitant. I’m always pleased with them.

SERVICE/AMBIANCE: –Tiny hole in the wall located in the fashion district of dtla. When you walk in you can see the entire kitchen making your food. They do deliver and you can order on EAT24. FOOD: –TORTACUBANA — Ham, sausage, chorizo, breaded steak, bacon & egg. The meatiest thing ever! So delicious! The bread is really soft and it is packed with so much flavor.
