LACMA Store

Yellow Owl Workshop Jewelry is being sold for 200 hundred dollars, and the YOW website is about fifty dollars. Seriously? Isn’t that illegal? That’s absolutely disgusting!!!

Lots of art books, trinkets, and other really, really, expensive things.
I came in here hoping to find some touristy t-​shirts, bags, and other stuff but you get a lot of artisty things. Which, I guess is expected here at LACMA.
Everything is really expensive. They had a small shoe bag for $ 30. Yikes!
It was fun to look around at all the stuff but I definitely would not buy anything here. Just take pictures, they are suovenirs enough.

Overpriced crap. Magazines, postcards, books for big coffee tables, decorative art made in third world sweat shops. You get the idea. Same stuff every other art museum in America sells. Bad karma to the guy who told me I couldn’t take photos of the gift shop – too late.

As I grew up coming to LACMA, I’m not the biggest fan of the upgrades and the overall changes of LACMA. This store was the main Museum store and now it’s simply one of the stores on a huge scattered property. The quality of items is not as good as it use to be. They still carry art books and posters which seem to be the popular purchase for most.
I got few books but didn’t get the typical rare gifts I use to buy from here.
I’m sure I’ll be back since I’m a member at LACMA for the last 27 years. (for special events/​shows)

Expensive, yes, but they have great stuff.
I got babykins a Matisse board book that he adores, and a book for myself. I like museum stores, and this one is no exception. Lots of good art stuff that you can’t find anywhere else.

my husband and i want our daughter to be exposed to the arts as soon as possible (she is 6 months) so that she can appreciate them. we decided to have a family day at LACMA to view the Kubrick Retrospective (outstanding, btw), after which we also viewed some of the other exhibits.
when we finished enjoying the art, we decided to mark our first trip to LACMA with a purchase from the LACMA store. after walking 5 steps in the door, i was stopped by a teenaged hipster and asked to leave the store because strollers weren’t allowed. i was floored! there is no sign on the door indicating this and when we bought our tickets to the museum we specifically asked if strollers were allowed and we were told YES!
now, after reading these reviews… apparently there is a fabulous childrens book section that is not to be missed. sorry LACMA but you won’t be getting any of my hard earned bucks. i have also passed this along to other friends.
baby friendly = family friendly and if you want customers, then you should consider the accessiblity of strollers.

LACMA was cool, but this gift shop is not. too hoity-​toity. c’mon, sell some magnets, posters, or other lacma paraphenalia. all they sell are art books and over-​priced toys for kids. a wooden pull toy for $ 100 or a wooden clothes rack by an artist for $ 90? nope.

The great thing that I love about LACMA is that you can stroll around without having to pay for the day. You can go through that plastic noodle forest, walk around the grounds, even go eat at their café. AND you can walk into the LACMA Store!
My only issue is that SO many items are expensive, and not everyone has the budget to splurge $ 55 on a book or a pen set. I know it’s art, and artists are starving (?). There is a cool little section over by the children’s books that has some trinkets for under $ 10. I like to go in and browse their books, postcards, and new exhibit items after eating at one of the many food trucks across the street on Wilshire.
It’s just fun and nice to immersed in art !

Walked in here about 7 minutes before closing — all the workers were dying to go home and didn’t allow anyone else to come in after me even though there were still a few minutes left. Some woman was standing by the door and turning people away. One guy even stated he just wanted to take a quick look at something, but she still wouldn’t let him in which forced him to peer through the glass. Sorry that you work retail and want to go home, but that doesn’t excuse closing early and turning people away. I have zero tolerance for lazy workers who are closing up early when people want to buy stuff at your store.

Great little store here at the lacma. Of course its a museum store, so that means = lofty prices. But then, that’s to be expected.
Plenty of great items to be found here. A cornucopia of different art books. Some children’s stuff (though not much). Some t shirts, scarves, and other clothing items. Postcards of nearly every piece in ghe museum (s) and of course prints of many of the popular pieces on display as well.
Currently, there are copies of all of the kubrick movies available on both dvd and blu-​ray to support the outstanding stanley kubrick exhibition.
All in all, a great little museum store that shouldn’t be missed on your trip to LACMA.
