Evan recently helped me re-​negotiate my settlement agreement. Evan is very direct, professional, and to-​the-​point. He’s not going to coddle you, which I imagine some people need, but I needed a lawyer, not a cheerleader. He will tell you what he thinks can be done and what cannot be done. I prefer someone who will tell me what’s possible and not waste my time; Evan was always clear on what could be done and what was unlikely. He is very thoughtful and remembers what you told him is important to you, even when you forget, which is easy to do during such stressful discussions. Evan never rushed me or made me feel like I was wasting time, which says a lot since the flat-​fee approach might lead a less considerate attorney to rush through meetings. Evan is very organized and I never felt like I had to continually catch him up on my status. He called when he said he’d call me and answered all my emails.
I hope I never need him again, but I would definitely rehire him and I have recommended him to others.

I contacted Evan to schedule a meeting for a case and never got back to me. After leaving numerous emails I finally got someone who would speak to me and they informed me without explanation they would not take my case. They didn’t know any details other than my name.

Mr Braunstein was an excellent lawyer and a great help. After hitting road blocks with the court system in trying to finalize our divorce I had to hire a lawyer due to being stationed in Hawaii. Mr Braunstein agreed to review the paperwork and make the corrections and finalize the divorce for a reasonable low price. Very satisfied and would highly recommend.

I called Braunstein for an overview of how he would handle my divorce and all he wanted to know was how old I was, how old was my wife, when I tried to give him the details of the case he got rude and didn’t want to hear. I asked why age was the all-​important thing to him and he said it determined who would likely owe whom, that the older the person the less likely they could re-​train for a better job. So a 30year-​old was in a different position than a 50-​year old. Never mind mitigating issues — which I won’t get into her this being a public forum but they were extreme.
It is true that CA law discounts most circumstances however, much history like who was the spouse who worked during the marriage, provided for the other and so on, who has custody of the minor or disabled children and so on which limits working, how long separated and so on are very important factors and anyone who has done their research might wonder if they’ll get the best representation from Braunstein.
When I told him I wasn’t comfortable reducing everything to age, he became downright rude!
No wonder he’s a flat fee lawyer, he is a one size-​fits-​all cookie-​cutting bean counter based on my extremely unpleasant experience with him. I couldn’t imagine trusting him for the most important financial decision of my life.

I met with Evan and he was professional, informative, and extremely helpful. He was also very responsive, I am not sure what the one negative review is all about but I am sure it is unsubstantiated and immediately prompted me to review.

My experience with Mr. Braunstein was wonderful given the circumstances (divorce/​complex custody issues). Mr. Braunstein provided thoughtful and out-​of-​the-​box suggestions to help resolve some of our most complex issues. His suggestions confirmed that he wasn’t just giving «legal advice» but advice that was in the best interest of our children from the standpoint of the present and THEIR future — which is what will be remnant in the years to come when the divorce has long been settled.

Evan assisted me in a very complex custody case, if not for his knowledge and professionalism I may not have gotten the knowledge and information that I needed, given the way the court system and assistance personel were not helpful. Evan was propmt with all filings and gave me any insight I needed, he was able to work with me on the monetary amount needed for representation and he even followed through with me on a couple of things that neeed to be done after his retainement ended. I am very pleased with Evan’s professionalism in handling my divorce. Even more so with the fact that Evan was consulting with me remotely. I was in the SF Bay Area and Evan is in SoCal. As such Evan was very proactive in keeping me updated on issues related to the case. He is also very prompt and responsive when I brought up questions and issues. I loved the fact that he will quote you a flat fee for the entire case at the beginning of the consultation. I felt his fees were VERY reasonable considering the level of service I got from him.
Considering that we were working remotely, I also wanted to highlight how Evan’s leverage of technology provided me a extra degree of convenient and service that other attorneys might not provide. Evan’s client portal on his website provided both of us the means to exchange documents for my case and for non-​urgent communications. This really fit in well as I’m sure we both don’t always have the time to talk on the phone or drop packages off at the post office. The client portal serves as a general data and communications repository to review or revisit later. I feel this is a HUGE benefit to any client! Lastly Evan allowed me to video conference with him for certain milestone events in my case which I thought was a great gesture.
