Los Feliz Lodge

Location, Location, Location. That’s the best thing about this place. A short walk or Über ride to Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and East Hollywood. The accommodations were nice and as promised. Really nice patio out front for relaxation. Much more economical and a better experience than a hotel or motel. I will be back. As the other reviews mention, watch out for the parking on the street. I got hit with a $ 78 dollar ticket but that’s my bad.

Glad to have stayed here for 3 days in Los Feliz … Jacob and his brother Joseph were very nice and they run a clean and fair priced lodging establishment. We had green casita which had a kitchen and living room… simulated apartment living in Los Feliz which was fun… can walk to Hillhurst restaurants and Vons supermarket… cool little Vista movie theatre at end of street… great neighborhood and very safe… street parking was ample and trouble-​free… will be back next year to try the red or blue casita’s which are even larger. Nice place… nice people.

What a great find! We stayed in the Blue Casita for just one night after a show at the Greek Theater, but if we ever find ourselves needing to stay in LA again, we’ll definitely remember this place, especially for longer stays. It’s a very comfortable and functional and clean space, with a living room area, bedroom with a comfy queen bed, closet (although we didn’t need to use it), dresser, a small bathroom, and a great little kitchen with a refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot, etc., even a dishwasher. Oh! And an antique Wedgwood Stove. The décor was cute — IKEA functionality mixed with antique eclectic pieces (chairs, side table), not too much for the space, but not too little either. Clean bamboo floors. Also, the little AC unit worked great.
Booking was easy and entry was easy using the gate and door lock codes that we were provided by email. We didn’t need to contact Jacob at all during our short stay, but there was a binder provided with a list of phone numbers to call in case of emergency, as well as other very helpful maps and neighborhood info — dining, takeout, etc.
The neighborhood was nice, easily navigable on foot or with a vehicle. Take a minute to read up on some quick wiki history:
. We used Über to get to the Greek and our ride was there practically immediately. I saw that some guests were uncomfortable with the street parking, but it wasn’t a problem for us to park down the street, and we weren’t there on a park-somewhere-else-or-we’ll-ticket-you day, so that was lucky. It was actually pouring rain the day we arrived (so weird!), so we walked down the block to a thrift store and found a couple of jackets, then walked a bit farther and found a great little gastropub — Jay’s Bar — to have a drink and meal before the show. And for breakfast the next morning, The Kitchen was amazing. Have the «breakfast bake» with a bloody. You won’t regret it.
Anyway, we were pretty impressed with Los Feliz Lodge. It was comparable to the vacation rentals we’ve stayed at in San Francisco, and I would be comfortable there for an extended stay.
The only disappointment was that we were very excited to find the kitchen stocked with a coffee pot and coffee beans to use, but alas, no filter! It’s okay, we just inhaled the aroma and put the lid back on the canister and went out for breakfast. Obviously that is not enough of a ding to knock off a star lol.

TLDR: Fantastic.
Long version: My family and friends took over most of Los Feliz Lodge’s housing when we were in LA for my daughter’s wedding. I loved all the casitas which I was in (most of them). This sort of place is why we seldom bother with a hotel or motel any more. With so much space and comfort for a few dollars more, a little planning is well worth the effort. My brother stayed in a nearby and similar lodging but found it spartan. The furnishings here may have been slightly spare but were functional and well chosen and made very comfortable spaces. Clearly someone had gone to thoughtful trouble to place more than the minimum into the rooms and we settled in remarkably well. It was spacious and clean. We were there a week and did a considerable amount of cooking and found most of the kitchenware we needed was provided. The beds were comfortable; there were plenty of towels. I could get lyrical about how helpful all the staff were in a variety of ways. Jacob and Jessica were always ready to help and be accommodating.
This is a quiet neighborhood where one can feel secure walking about in the evening or even at night but there is also a nice secure feeling of being in a walled and gated compound which someone from outside the city can appreciate. The compound had a restful atmosphere. I will always remember having morning tea on the balcony of the corner unit, looking out over the peaceful neighborhood and watching an Anna’s Hummingbird for most of an hour moving to and from a perch mere feet away. I would never choose to stay anywhere else in this area. Book early, I think they remain nearly fully booked and I can well understand why. There is a vast variety of good dining a short walk away and the Vista Theatre is worth a visit for a movie evening, two short blocks away. In fact we can attest anything you may want is conveniently not far away.

We just moved from LA a couple of months ago, and when we came back for a special event at the Huntington it was hard to imagine staying in a hotel at «home!» Plus, hotels downtown are super expensive, and most of them dull, and then you add eating every meal out. So we were delighted to find our «home away from home» in our old home town. We got to eat breakfast in, and had a friend over to kick back and relax one evening, instead of going out, so we saved money. And the lodge price is SO inexpensive! It was great to have so much space to relax in, and to be close to everything we were doing in Hollywood, Glendale and Pasadena. The kitchen is great, including dishwasher, the bed is comfy, and the courtyard is so quiet. We had no trouble parking (we are LA parking sign experienced) and felt safe in the neighborhood. We will definitely use LFL as our LA home on future visits.

My mother stayed here, and she was very happy with her stay. I was SO impressed when I came to visit.
If you are visiting and want the flavor of LA, stay here. You get your own apartment, fantastically decorated. Adorable patio, king sized bed and a sweet kitchenette. It feels like any mid century LA apartment, except in GOOD condition (haha).
Great location near yummy restaurants and a fun movie theatre, all in walking distance. Ample street parking. This is as good as it gets.

I live nearby and have had family stay here. They always love it.
After reading the reviews below, can’t believe someone would smoke pot inside a place like this. This isn’t a hotel, but a home away from home. Eco — friendly cleaning products used, I spoke with the staff. Very nice area, close to Los feliz village.

All was fine and dandy until the afternoon after I left Jacob emails me and says the Los Feliz Lodge is taxing me $ 150 after finding pot ash and having to call a special cleaning company who specializes in removal of odors.
The thing that gets me is they said they found pot ash, not odors. I was partying that night at el chavo and was only in the room for a few hours. My girlfriend and I (both Ca medical marijuana prescription holders) only used the bed/​bathroom and rolled a splif on the coffee table and crashed a few hours before the 11:00 check out. Except for some trash in the kitchen the place was spotless.

Stayed here from a Friday thru Monday with my 8 year old daughter very recently, in the Blue Casita. Making the reservations online was a snap, and Jacob was very thorough and prompt in his e-​communication. Rates were good, and we had a great time in this lovely little cottage! Comfy bed, clean and well appointed living areas. Good water pressure! Tiny bathroom, but we’re used to small spaces, so we didn’t mind. Convenient location in a cool neighborhood. Street parking was easy to find, and we didn’t have trouble with nighttime noise at all. Really wonderful small outdoor spaces — my daughter loved reading in the rope swing hanging from a palm tree, and spent time gazing at the little funky water fountain in the front courtyard. Hope to be back soon!

I was not not able to stay at Los Feliz Lodge so I can’t rate the accommodations. They were fully booked on the dates I was looking to book. Nevertheless, owner Jacob Jurado went out of his way to recommend other accommodations similar to his in or near the same neighborhood. Kudos to Mr. Jurado!

1501 was a spacious apartment, with large dining room, full kitchen, washer/​dryer, lots of closet space. Not for those who want daily maid service. Well located just off Los Feliz, walking distance to alot of wonderful restaurants as well as a Vons, for cooking a few meals in. Cable and internet included. Highly recommend.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I found this by happenstance when I was looking for a quiet place to get away while I was in town for work and didn’t want to deal with the commute back and forth to OC. Los Feliz Lodge was perfect. It’s a short walk from the Junction and from many small boutique like shops great restaurants and COFFEE! So location wise it was perfect.
I like how they up-​cycled the once former apartments into a nice quiet and private lodge. The place was decorated in vintage mid-​century décor and nothing that screamed IKEA. They are big on being green and using green products. Even the coffee that was supplied was organic coffee… So thoughtful. Anyhoo. it’s perfect for a little get-​a-​way. It’s nice to avoid the hotel scene and have more of a quiet experience.

Recently spent 10 days here — my second stay in the Red Casita and it was just as fabulous this time around. I will never stay anywhere else when visiting Los Angeles as this ticks all the boxes for me… A quiet and secure place to stay, offering all the home comforts you need after diving head first into all Los Angeles has to offer. I will hopefully be back soon for a 3^rd time.

For my wedding in Los Angeles, my family stayed at both villas for a week — and they couldn’t have asked for a better experience. For the exact same price as a hotel, my parents got a living room, dining room, kitchen, private laundry, bed and bath plus a porch to eat outside! What more could you ask for? Having a «home away from home» instead of a small hotel room put them at ease as they navigated a very unfamiliar city. And being able to walk to all the great restaurants is Los Feliz on Hillhurst and Vermont is another plus. Cozy, clean, lovely environment and fabulous customer service from the family who owns the property… I highly recommend for when you are hosting visitors in LA!

My husband booked this place during a surprise birthday trip to L.A. and I was so impressed by his choice.
I liked that it felt as though we owned a cute little tiny home in a cute neighborhood instead of staying at a traditional hotel. We don’t typically use a lot of fancy amenities or services when we travel anyway, so we didn’t miss room service or anything.
For folks looking for a different travel experience, who are low maintenance but like style, I would recommend this place.
Bonus: it is reasonably close to Intelligentsia Coffee. Yum!

The positives:
+ Owner is responsive to emails, requests, etc.
+ Location is great!
* It was quaint and the yoga mat and robes were a nice touch. Also, there is a huge binder of local restaurants, points of interest, etc.
+ Good access to running trails
+ The towels were nice
The negatives:
— Parking stinks. I actually got a very expensive ticket because I did not move my car in time. Very frustrating.
— The shower needs work. The pressure was low and it was not draining properly, so it was kind of gross.
— They must have just painted and the smell was sickening.
— It was pretty loud. Maybe it would have been better if we could have shut the windows, but we had to keep them open because of the paint fumes.
I cannot say that I would strongly recommend the place, but it was ok. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. It’s a solid 3.5 stars.

I looked for boutique hotels to stay in during my weekend trip to LA. I chose Los Feliz Lodge because the location of the Green Casita is close to my brother who lives Silverlake. In general, I found the location really convenient. I was able to get to Melrose in 20 min, walk to Silverlake, Hike in Griffith Park in less than 10 min drive and basically get anywhere with ease.
The moment we walked the door, my friend and I looked at each other and said– «whoa– we live in LA!» Los Feliz Lodge is like renting your own apartment. I cooked an awesome vegan gumbo in the kitchen while playing my ipod from their docking station. I connected to free wifi, found easy street parking, and enjoyed having a lovely 1 bedroom apartment in LA for less than the cost of a decent hotel. If I travel to LA, I would stay here again. I highly recommend Los Feliz lodge.
Every time I called, emailed or had any question whatsoever, I received an immediate response. I locked myself out and Jacob helped me in less than a minute! I was very impressed with the privacy, convenience, size, décor and coziness the embodied my lovely little casita.

This place is great.
I called way last minute because I wanted to play things by ear when I got in town. Jacob the manager was very accommodating about this.
It’s living in an apartment for the length of stay you would normally use a hotel for. But without the hassel of hotels and a lot more privacy and comfort.
I think there’s a review about the bedroom being small. I may not have had the same lodge as that reviewer but to be honest the bedroom was small although it didn’t bother me in the slightest. I don’t think it was too bad but to each his own.
Bottom line for the price this place is seriously a great pad to stay. I could live here longer if had the chance.
Wifi is free. It’s very clean. Parking isn’t too bad. And it’s very quiet.
I lucked out.

This place is as the reviews suggest, nice and cozy…‘perfect little apartment.’
…until you start actually living here.
First off, on the positives:
These apartments are decorated very young, modern, hip and stylish. Being relatively ‘young’ myself born in the early 80’s, I definitely appreciated it and gave it huge style points right off the bat. To give you an idea, this place is clearly decorated with many of the ‘apartment’ items straight off the shelves of Urban Outfitters (the hipster-​haters are already grimacing, I can feel it).
As far as other aspects, we did not use the kitchen, but found it to be fully stocked with pans, cookingware, and utensils — as well as spices. So they definitely get points here.
Also, there is free Wi-​Fi — never a bad thing.
The living room and dining room itself is also fairly spacious, which is more than I can say for the actual living quarters…
I really HATE giving this place an average review, trust me because I was really feelin’ the vibe and «LA young Hollywood cocaine» chic vibe to it. It literally looked like it was an apartment of a young used-​to-​be-​struggling actor that was maybe currently riding the success of his first mildly mainstream movie.
So, onto the negatives:
As I mentioned above, the living quarters are FUCKING cramped!
After we ‘lived’ here for about 5 days — the gf and I were fed up. It made our seemingly small bathrooms at home seem like luxury suites.
Now, to be clear, the main areas I am talking about are the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom barely allows one person first of all. And this isn’t even that necessarily bad because I’ve seen 1-​person baths done well before — but the thing is, adding an additional person in this particular bathroom is not only bad, but seemingly disastrous. Basically, the bathroom is so small and unfunctional that you and the other person literally bottleneck, not being able to squeeze by one another, period.
Also, the bedroom…
There’s like, ONE LIGHT — and it’s a freakin lamp that is in the corner of the room! It was so pathetic, that at night, when we couldn’t take advantage of the sunlight, we had to leave the CLOSET door open as a light source, since it had a bulb in the ceiling of it, hahah… jeez, it was truly sad.
And speaking of closet, another thing I mean too by how this apartment is ‘unfunctional,’ for example the inside of the closet door contained a full length mirror, ideal for when you are getting dressed, etc.
Well, the way the closet was positioned in relation to the bedroom door, you couldn’t help but hit whomever was utilizing the mirror when you walked into the room
The room was already small enough as it was… the only place to really naturally ‘congregate’ in the bedroom, was right by the entrance, in front of the closet — and of course in the path of the bedroom door!
Now you’re probably thinking, ‘why not leave the bedroom door open then if you guys are having so much problems?’ Well, again… it goes back to an issue of unfunctionality. If you LEFT the bedroom door wide open, the door itself would get in the way of the closet door opening and closing!
And to be fair, THESE areas (bathroom, bedroom) alone are the main negatives of this particular room we had. I do have to state we didn’t have a chance to see how the other rooms were. However, I do know that we had one of the ‘bigger’ of the rooms available.
Another thing that I thought was odd, was that there was no cleaning or turndown service, so heads up. Now, this isn’t too bad, It probably states that on the website so I should have just known.
I have to give credit to Jacob, the manager (I think), who was very kind in accommodating us as far as replacing dirty towels and replenishing your toilet paper. So definitely be aware that he’s only a phone call away.
Again, this place isn’t ‘bad’ at all — as long as you can tolerate the cramped bed /​bath quarters and no maid or turndown service for your room.
Overall, as I stated above, I love the style and hipness of the décor. I would definitely recommended this place if you were staying no more than 1 – 2 nights. However, as my experience, staying 4 nights, 5 days can be tricky. The unfunctionality of the bed & bath becomes very clear by the 2^nd night — trust me.
You’re probably also thinking that these things above shouldn’t matter, since you only ‘sleep in the hotel.’ However, as you know — this place isn’t cheap. You almost feel bad not spending MORE time at the apt to get your money’s worth out of it.
On that note, the rooms are pretty pricey. They would ‘feel’ much better with a $ 50 reduction across the board. Especially having to deal with that bathroom!

This place is like heaven for temporary living. Actually… I might just move in permanently. Perfect little LA apartment. Very cozy with tons of amenities: dishwasher, tea kettle, internet, a full kitchen!, robes, slippers, ironing board… I felt like I was staying in someone’s home but in a not invasive kinda way. The décor was hip and clean and the location was right on.
