Lol… Reviewing a cafeteria. Why? They had a thanksgiving lunch special that I wanted to try. It was roasted turkey, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes with gravy, what I believe is stuffing, and chocolate pudding for dessert. Roasted turkey was not dry, came out tasting surprisingly good! The rest was good considering it is café food. Judging it based on what type of place the food was served I give it a 4⁄5. This is not the first time I had food here as other days would be about a 3⁄5 average. This is better than the below mediocre thanksgiving turkey I had at Norms Restaurant on Pico in West LA… That is quite sad on Norms part in my opinion. Better food at a cafeteria… A courthouse cafeteria on top of that!!! See my Norms review!

Order in the court! I’ll have a cheeseburger and fries, I said. And I did. Technically the food was the only thing on trial, but it’s still a bit strange to have a meal in this somewhat unusual atmosphere. You don’t have to be involved with a court case to eat at Lunchstop Cafeteria, although it would make most sense if you are. That said, the meager dining options in this middle-of-nowhere part of town ensure that people will wander in from nearby office buildings. There’s an undeniable mixture of boredom and seriousness in the air, and meanwhile, standard fare cafeteria food is kind of just there. You might even call it impartial. But now that I’ve gotten a few weak puns out of my system, let’s talk about what you can put into your belly! There’s a hot menu with burgers, turkey burgers, tuna melts, and a deli menu with typical sandwiches on rye, wheat, or whatever type of bread your stomach desires. Despite facing a long line, the staff remained upbeat and pleased to serve, and I was able to order my food and pay for it at the register in short time. Back to the burger, the patty was a little thin which resulted in a very well-done burger, although to be fair, I didn’t specify how I wanted it cooked. The bun was fresh, you get lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle, and the generous portion of fries was hot out of the frier. The phrase«nothing special» comes to mind, but this meal filled me up and didn’t cost much — about seven dollars with a Dr. Pepper. If that’s all you’re looking for in a lunch, and you happen to be in the area or visiting a friend, I’d say go for it! There really isn’t much else going on around here, and Lunchstop is genuine service with a smile.

This is your typical cafeteria stop. You stand in line and pick what you want and pay at the end. So for what this place is, its great. Super clean and the staff is very friendly. I live across the street so I have no issues with parking, but there is very limited parking for those of you who do have to come by car. Food is great. Obviously not meant to be a gourmet meal. I will definitely come here whenever I’m too lazy to drive to any fast food restaurant.

Let me start by mentioning that Mike V(first to Unilocal Lunchstop) and I work together and I know that he is one tough Unilocaler. Check out his reviews, five stars are very very rare for him so a four star lunch place within walking distance of our office is a must try in my book. I will say that I was not as impressed by the experience as he was but then again it might have to do with the fact that I walked in with Mike and you would have thought that he owned the courthouse. The proprietor just about fell over himself greeting our group but I thought he was going to hug Mike. A little envy on my part? maybe. So we line up at about at the cafeteria line, yes it is the courthouse cafeteria so you start with a big plastic tray and scoot down the line. We arrived at the trays of food right at 12:15 and there is literally 1 ½ chicken breasts and a lowly chunk of beef that I am told is brisket. It did not look very appetizing so I asked for a cheeseburger which I presumed would be grilled fresh. I presumed wrong. I was told that they were out of hamburgers but that they could cut up the lonely chicken breast and put it on a bun. Yeah, that really is not the same thing. So they did have what looked like a couple of hot links so I asked for a hot link and fries. While they re-grilled the link the owner continues to circle around Mike like he is the center of his universe. Seriously either Mike told him he was the President of our company or this guys has the hots for Mike. Either way it is now getting beyond a bit awkward. I push my tray to the cashier and she rings it up for a total of 3.50. It turns out being with Mike entitles you to free drinks from the beverage bar. Hey maybe the little love fest is not so bad. So the free drink and the the fact that the hot link was pretty good bumps them from a two to a three star but be warned that unless you have Mike tag along with you and you show up after 12:15 your lunch experience may not go as good as ours.

First a little background: Twice a day, I and a group of coworkers walk around our building to get the blood flowing and to just get out of the office for a while. We would sometimes make it a point to walk by the courthouse to see if there was anything exciting going on. This excitement would range from a newlywed couple just getting married or Lindsey Lohan on one of her reoccurring court visits. While walking by there one day, we noticed that there was a cafeteria inside. One of our coworkers insisted we go inside and check it out. When we walked in, we were kindly greeted by MinKoo Whang who heads the cafeteria. He explained what Lunchstop Cafeteria was all about and their various specials that they offer through the week. In addition, he asked about us and where we were from. After explaining to him, that we were a couple buildings over, he offered to put us on a daily email blast with the lunch specials of the day. On with the main review: Today, after much debate on where to go for lunch, our crew decided to give Lunchstop a try. The place was very clean with a lot of seating. We ordered our meals in the typical cafeteria style line(tray’s in hand, slowly inching our way towards the cashier). I had one of the lunch specials, Tuna melt w/fries. The portion/value ratio is very good. For a little over 5 dollars you get a nice hot sandwich with a huge portion of fry’s. One of the things that makes this place great is that they a very friendly and outgoing. I was surprised that MinKoo even remembered my name. The only thing that I would say that this location would need to improve on is the speed of service as it could be a little faster on the line.
