This place is called Redbox now. It has not changed much from the Maki Wok days, except that now they have all kinds of fancy signs and a new menu and the staff all has snazzy red shirts. The menu, while new, is mostly the same though. The wonton soup is one of the few places I’ve found on the westside that has pork wontons. It is good. It reminds me of the wonton soup I grew to love dearly in New England and the bowl is huge(my friend and I meet here a lot and usually split this). But the real star here — besides the über-cheap lunch combos — is the Salt-Baked chicken. It’s huge pieces of chicken wing, deep fried then topped with a lot of salt, garlic, chili peppers, scallions, etc. They’re made to order and are really delicious, a real chicken wing-lovers delight. Yum. This place isn’t the best food you’ll ever have but I’ve found a few things that I really like so that’s what I get here whenever I go back and I’m always consistently happy. btw, the food quality between Maki Wok and Redbox is the same. Whether it was taken over by different people or just revamped a little with snappy t-shirts and signage, I’m not sure, but it’s basically the same. Credit card minimum is $ 10.

maki wok is one of those tried and true lowest common denominator lunch places for pan-asian quick cook cuisine. not the best sushi you’ll ever eat. not the best udon you’ll ever eat. nor the best chinese lunch special. and overall, it’s not too greasy. but for a pan-asian quick cook food place at reasonable prices owned by koreans and serving random nearby workers… in a pinch, it’ll do. by the way(they deliver on orders over 10 bucks).

I didn’t know what to eat so instead of heading out, I decided to go home and look at the delivery menus I have collected over the years — hey single woman here. I decided on Maki Wok, because their menu looked the most promising. When I got my order, I discovered they got it wrong … on the plus side, I tried a new dish(I am notorious for ordering the same thing over and over again). I didn’t call to complain because I realized that the reason it was wrong was due to a communication error — her accent was strong and I am sure that she thought the same about me. Once I ate some food I realized why the menu was at the bottom of the pile, not that impressive … will only order again if I am at a loss of what to eat and if they send me another menu, because the one I had went into the trash.
