Market Place Restaurant

The food is great. If you are around the DTLA area, you have to try this place. The only thing i noticed different is that the menu is smaller. I miss those other meals, but they still have my fav. Maria is the best, she always has a smile and very nice personality. Try this spot!

This place is located in an industrial area with lots of businesses and semi trucks. It was a bit off-​putting at first, but it seemed safe.
The décor inside takes you back to the 80’s. It is seriously outdated and in desperate need of a makeover. That said, it was clean and comfortable.
Service was friendly and portions are large for breakfast. Drip coffee ($ 1.75) tasted like a medium roast — not the best and not the worst I’ve had. It was passable, and refills were plentiful.
8oz NY Steak and Eggs — $ 10.95
Eggs were done perfectly. This comes with a side of potatoes and choice of toast. Ordered medium rare, the steak was cooked medium well. I would not advise to order this if you are particular about how your meat is cooked.
Pastrami omelette — $ 6.75
Large omelette with cheddar cheese and onions. The pastrami was cut into tiny pieces, so the flavor got lost. It was still tasty though. Potatoes and a fresh, spicy, housemade salsa accompany this dish.
This restaurant has potential. If the décor and dishes were elevated some, I think it could be a real winner.

I tried this very nice restaurant for restaurant week on a date. There was a preset menu and I remember ordering the pork butt, along with a cocktail, and chocolate dessert. This was too long ago for me to remember the names of each thing I had but I do remember the impression it left on me: woah! The pork but was very tender and flavorful and it was a nice portion for restaurant week. In addition, the drink and dessert were both satisfying as well. It is definitely a great place to take someone on a date as long as you can afford it! Definitely a splurge kind of night!

Went in for brunch I ordered out for the time I was there everything was awesome!!! Going back for sure!!!

Ordered from this location for a catered meal at the spur of the moment due to «Stuff ‘Em» having closed down. They have a wide variety of menu items ranging from typical diner fare to Mexican to Chinese. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches — my chicken salad sandwich was great and I heard that the pastrami and hamburgers were good.
Less than stellar reviews for the chicken chow mein and the chicken teriyaki — so maybe stick with the burgers and sandwiches.
All in all — I would order from them again.

The Bacon, Avocado, Spinach, Mushroom, Sour cream & Swiss chesse Omelet was delicious and the whole wheat toast gets a 10. The food takes a little bit of time but everything is made to order and there homemade salsa was nice and spicy make sure t o ask for some. Thanks Maria for the great service and conversation. Overall a great out of the way dinner very reasonable prices. I hate paying $ 10 to $ 15 for breakfast prices and $ 3 for coffee and you get NO refills in the Art District of L.A.

Maria, our lovely waitress, was so attentive and even offered to take my chicken fajita leftovers and make it into a burrito for later (she even added some cheese and gave me salsa on the side to go)! The homemade salsas were super bomb and the service was so so good. It was my boyfriend and i’s first time eating here and we are so impressed we plan on becoming regulars :))

I have to agree with #1. We were there for lunch, and considering this place is open from 5am to 2pm, our server was still amazingly cheerful and friendly (she must have been tired by the end of her shift). Service was a tad slow but she covered 5 – 6 tables by herself so it was understandable.
Now, in regards to #2. Hidden gem? I disagree.
The NY steak I ordered was so tough that I literally had trouble cutting it with the knife. No exaggeration but the (somewhat flimsy) fork I used bent from my trying to cut the steak. The wobbly table kept moving while i worked the knife so that didn’t help either.
When the steak arrived it was didn’t seem like it was fresh off the grill either (just lukewarm). Same comment with the fries.
A previous review mentioned «dirty». That is just the immediate reaction one gets (or at least we got) when entering this place. I know this place has an «A» health rating so the first impression is really unfortunate. The blackened carpets and various food stains on the wall just don’t help.

What a nice hole in the wall to find close to the office. Maria the server is so nice. I like that they serve chips and salsa before your meal. Parking right at front. Ordered the salmon salad and it was tasty. Will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu as prices are very reasonable

I love this place and will definitely be coming back regularly. I had the huevos Mexicana and my boyfriend had the chicken salad melt. They put extra Serrano peppers in for him and he devoured it. Tasted so different and amazing. I lived my breakfast, so much that I will definitely order again. Maria was wonderful, wrapped my leftovers in a burrito and I have an entire other meal for later. She was so sweet and helpful, made me new coffee and everything. The salsa is wonderful and has quite a kick! The tortillas are fresh and warm. Great find.

One of the other managers suggested we go here one day and we keep going back. Maria is the only server but she is super nice and has a good memory!
We normally get a sandwich there so you can’t mess up. It’s in the produce market in DTLA. Random hours. Random menu. Random location. But, it’s pretty good. The kitchen is kinda slow but they literally make everyone’s order as they come in so it’s understandable. The prices are surprisingly cheap.

If your looking for fine dining look somewhere else. If your looking for a solid blue collar, greasy diner with good food and a nice quick waitress then here you go! This place is in the industrial area and set up for the people that work there so dont let the area make you not want to eat here, if your in the area and looking for a good greasy diner breakfast then this is a good choice. Solid omelet’s and quick service. Prices are pretty good as well– two people can have a great breakfast for under $ 20 easy! One word of caution– their home made salsa is blazing freakin hot!

Was back in town and decided to try this place out again. I brought my wife and my 14 month old baby. Waitress was super nice and even brought out a plate of free watermelon and cantaloupe for the baby while we waited for our meals. I went for the chile verde again and was nod disappointed. Tasted better than I remember. It’s got a kick to it so don’t order it if you like spicy food… If you do like spicy food, then you will be happy. Came with beans, rice and as many corn tortillas as I needed. Also came with some hot homemade salsa which was delicious.
My wife had the short stack and bacon. The bacon was crispy just like your grandma makes it at home and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. My kid is the pickiest eater in the world and he gobbled them up.

From the outside you can’t even tell there is a restaurant inside. Once inside the restaurant décor is very very outdated. I was hesitant to sit down but my friend had a groupon deal and they had good food reviews. I got the steak and eggs and he got the marketplace omelette.
The food was excellent. On point. I almost ate my whole plate but it was so much food. The latte is yummy as well. We both loved the food and I would come back if I lived closer.
Hopefully they do some updating with the decorations. Otherwise the food and help were excellent.

Just note the time when you go because they are open odd hours. 5am to 2 pm.
The pancakes were ok, the eggs were good– I requested cheese and they were very generous with the cheese. My boyfriend loved his pastrami omelet and French toast.
We bought a groupon and it was a good deal, but when we went we soon realized how cheap the prices were! It was $ 5 for my pancakes and my «poker». It came with eggs, sausage, house fries/​potatoes, and the pancakes. It was a lot of food for a good price!
The service was good, just slow because there is only one server, but I think it was primarily the cooking and not her.
We came the day before and they were about to close. They said we could get some cold sandwiches but we came back the next day. The guy recognized us and offered us both free lattes for coming back. That was nice… Even though when we checked in you get 1 free, but he would have given us too. I got the vanilla one and it was so good! It came out pretty too!
