Came here for lunch today and was greeted by the friendly cooks. I ordered a chili cheeseburger, fries and a coke. The burger was delicious! The patty was juicy and a bit crisp and the chili had really good consistency and flavor. The fries were pretty average but I would definitely come back to try other things!

Burgers are amazing! Everything is so fresh, especially the produce, and it’s made right in front of you. Fries and onion rings and TOTS are crispy and delicious!!! The staff is always super friendly. Cash only and so worth it. Always a place to sit in the back. Marty’s is a must!!!

*review for gluten free options* Amazing burgers! All cash so be ready for that though. They will happily lettuce wrap your burger and a bonus here– THEIRCHILIISFLOURFREE. Meaning finally a celiac friendly chili I can get in the area! You can add bacon for extra and get extra toppings no charge. A little pricey but definitely worth it. They have a bunch of regulars too. I’m not a huge fan of the service, they have been condescending to me as a girl, but the food is good so I can deal with it.

Awesome Old School Burger and Hot Dog joint. Their services is always welcoming and attentive. They keep the place super clean for an old school burger spot. Expect to savor your meal surrounded by the city vibe, because it’s outdoors seating and no white linen table clothes. Cheers!

Just had Marty’s for the first time today and had to grab another burger right after I finished my first one. It was THAT good for me. My first order was a double-cheeseburger, followed by a classic cheeseburger. The meat, along with all the other ingredients are fresh. Service was great also. The employees were friendly and I got along with them easily. The man that grilled my patties told me I’d be back, but I don’t think he expected me to be back 10 minutes after my first order for round two! The place has been around since the late 1950s, which I think is pretty cool considering how much of a US history nut I am. But hey, that’s just me. What I can guarantee is that it is a great place to get your hands on a classic American burger.

Small place right next to Shell. I believe it’s cash only and there might be some parking in the back. Very nice workers. Food comes out real quick. Solid burgers and fries. They have a breakfast menu as well. I would like to try it next time. Highly recommend this place.

I went because the rating was actually good but the real thing is that the food is not that great and they don’t even take any credit or debit cards so going to the ATM next door, I sadly ended up paying like $ 15 for the smallest hamburger I ever had.

I hear great things about the burgers and onion rings, but I’ve only ever had the breakfast burrito and it’s one of my favorites in town. I get the fire dog version and add grilled onions. Goes great with an Orange Bang!

FRESHGROUNDMEAT. A simple, 1950’s-style burger(no fancy ingredients), everything is just crisp and fresh makes Marty’s a winner! This is how you’d make a burger on your own grill IF you were any good at making chili for it! Marty’s is one of the last remaining post-WW2 hamburger stands. It’s not fancy dining. You walk up, place your order, and eat at the outdoor counter just a couple minutes later(and while you wait, you watch them prepare other people’s meals, trying not to drool). What makes this a winner is that it’s FRESH meat and fresh toppings(lettuce, tomato, etc.), and the CHILIISFANTASTIC(technically it’s optional… but get it!). They make great hot dogs, tuna sammies, turkey burgers. All good… but the burger is the star of the show. And of course… one of the few places left that still carries ORANGEBANG!

ORDERTHIS: hot dog burger combo Marty’s Hamburger Stand is one of the greats. They’ve been serving classic burgers and Vienna beef dogs since 1950’s, and you can taste it in the flavor of your patty and hot dog fresh off the grill. We ordered the hot dog burger combo($ 6.25), a chili cheeseburger($ 4.50), fries($ 2) and tator tots($ 2). Cheap prices for good food at an original burger stand from back in the day — America peaked. I didn’t know better this time but next time I’m definitely compiling an ultimate combo — stacking beef, bacon, pastrami, chili and a split hot dog. Do it if you dare.

I have eaten many burgers in my life. Some were sad, thin, frozen. Some were thick, amazing, joy-inducing. Marty’s is the latter. They use FRESH meat! Everyone there is very nice. Next time I will definitely try the fries.

Burger crew meeting called to order on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at noon. Members in attendance: Angela d., Sumana S., Trevor Y., Wayne T., Dennis K., and Will G.(visiting). I. Ordering Trevor and I ordered the combo(and that refers to combo burger, meaning burger patty AND hot dog). Wayne and Sumana ordered the combo with chili and cheese. DK ordered the chili burger. Will ordered a chili and cheese burger and a hamburger! Collectively, we also ordered the onion rings, curly FIRES(yes, that’s how it’s spelled on the menu), and chili cheese fries. II. The burgers The burgers were quite tasty! The hot dog in the combo burger was really good. Nice saltiness and snap to it. The chili was really good, but seemed to be lacking in the burgers(I guess to make it less messy to eat). The bun was good, classic with a nice chew. The burger patty was a little thin, which led to a weaker meat flavor. The lettuce was of the confetti variety, which I personally can’t stand because I feel like it waters down the flavor of the burger. However, we liked the raw chopped onions on the burger. It gave a nice crisp, fresh bite to the burger without being too overpowering. Overall, it was a good diner style burger, but didn’t really have a good balance to it. Not enough meat! III. The fries The curly fries were pretty standard. Flavorful, but nothing special. The onion rings were nice and thick! The chili cheese fries were pretty standard. The fries didn’t have a lot of flavor so it’s good that it was slathered in chili and cheese to give it some flavor. The chili was good! IV. Miscellaneous This place is tucked between a fire station and shell station. There is only outdoor seating(not a problem in LA) and there is some hidden parking in the back, though none of us had problems finding street parking. This place is cash only so be sure to bring some. It has a cool old school feel to it; very similar to the vibe at Pink’s. They have very limited hours. Be sure to come for lunch because they’ll be closed by the time you’re ready for dinner(which is why it has taken us so long to check them out). V. Value Okay to good. The burgers weren’t huge, but they weren’t pricey either. So somewhere between okay and good. We couldn’t settle on a word for it. VI. The verdict It’s A-OK. We rated it 2, 2.9, 3, 3, and 3.6. Good, but didn’t blow us away. Glad we finally got a chance to try it! Next burger crew meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 7pm. Location: Sumana’s pick — TBD

My husband has been coming to this place for many years, so with his influencing I gave in because I rather go to Pink’s. I got the Fire Dog(I rather do the 12″ jalapeño dog from Pink’s), my kids got regular hot dogs(it was fine) and my husband got the burger with a hot dog in it(it was a very messy meal). We also got the chili cheese fries(they use american cheese, I rather have cheddar cheese). It was ok, but if I had a choice between Pink’s or this place, I would do Pink’s in a heart beat.

I was surprised how much I liked the Fire dog combo, it’s a hamburger w/a fire dog split length-wise and added to the burger. I’m sure it had a million calories, but I’m living in the moment. LOL. Delicious. So onward, I also got Chili cheese fries. Yes, I’m probably asking for a heart attack, but the chili was amazing. I actually think that I will get just the chili fries next time. I’m normally not a chili person, except for chili cheese fries. But I liked the chili here so much that I could do without the cheese! I’m also normally not into skinny fries at all. I don’t know how they made their skinny fries here, but I like them! Luckily, I went in the middle of the afternoon, so there was no wait and only a few people at the tables. I’m sure it’s got to be packed during lunch. Hmmm…maybe I might go the same time next week? Sounds like a plan! YUMMY!

Definition of Fast food: fast food done fast, cooked fast, eat fast, and fast onto your waistline. Really nice gents work here, 4 were on the line, and they were friendly and gabby. Real meat was used, not the frozen patty type, yet — the cheapest of the cheap frozen French fries were placed upon me. 1. Chili Cheese Burger($ 4.50) — Decent bun, fresh, thin patty, nicely seasoned, and even though I had grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and cheap chili — it had left me wanting.(3.5 stars) 2. Fries($ 2.00) — shoestring, made from frozen, no salt, cheap.(2.0 stars) A decent size back patio with bench seating, and metered parking on the street. Unless you are part of the Fire department directly next store, umm, find somewhere else, or face the fast food«fenom».
