Maya Brigadeiro Brazilian Sweets

Maya’s Brigadeiros are simply the best in Los Angeles. I purchased the large box, and shared with my Brazilian friend who was simply amazed by the quality, as well as the presentation. All Brazilians believe that their brigadeiros are the best, but even my friend admitted that Maya’s were not only better than his, but some of the best he has ever tried! They make a great gift, or even to keep for yourself. Just be careful not to eat them all at once!!!

«This must be what heaven feels like.» Is where my mind goes when eat Maya’s Brigadeiro chocolate sweets. My clients enjoy them once month and are addicted. My favorites are the pumpkin spice (Fall season only), pistachio, and the milky white sugar. They are rolled to the perfect size. I can either pop a whole piece in my mouth (which is very tempting to do) or take my time and enjoy it bite by bite. The flavors are rich. The texture is soft and creamy. There are many toppings to choose from and the price is right. I particularly enjoy the clear face box, very pretty. I can’t wait to order these as a party favor for an event.

The brigadeiros were delicious. I’ve already received a few texts from friends saying they loved it. The jars were very cute as well.

I love Maya’s brigadeiros!!! So good! Great balance of flavors without being overly sweet. They’re perfect as a hostess gift. Of course, there is the danger that I would eat them all…

I’m seriously obsessed with brigadeiro. the taste and texture are exquisite. I first came across the brigadeiro and Maya at Unique LA last year and ended up ordering a lot for Christmas too. I’m a big fan of the regular chocolate one and a huge supporter of the special seasonal Passion Fruit brigadeiro (only in the summer). Maya is super nice and helpful with orders as well.

I’ve had the pleasure of tasting these lovely delights on several occasions now. Though I don’t normally have a sweet tooth, these are the most divinely decadent little bites of goodness that I want when I do! Maya is absolutely wonderful. Very professional, efficient and most importantly really cares about her product! I will definitely be buying these for my friends and family … and maybe stashing a few away for myself in the process!!! :D

My co-​worker requested brigadeiro as her birthday dessert and I decided to go with this company after reading all the glowing reviews. I placed an order online around 5:00 last Thursday evening (birthday party was Monday). Nervous the dessert wouldn’t arrive before the party, I panicked and called Maya again (had already left a message, then frantically ordered online, then called back hoping to speak with someone live). Maya was courteous, professional and eager to accommodate my needs. When we discovered how close her company was to my apartment, she offered to drop them off for me! Very sweet and unexpected! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I’m allergic to nuts and therefore unable to comment on the taste or texture. However, the service was top-​notch and the birthday girl was pleased.

Maya delighted us with her delicious hot brigadeiro bar at my daughter’s bat mitzvah. There were little cups of brigadeiro that the guest could top with their choice of toppings (we had five: including raspberries and sprinkles and little toffee bits). It was a huge success, guests were raving about how fun and insanely good the brigadeiro was, how different it was from most desserts. And of course, having the warm and wonderful Maya just made everything perfect.

We had Maya brigadeiros as a favour on our wedding and everything was perfect! The service was great, each box was perfectly wrapped, the brigadeiros were really good and a total success! We definitely recommend it!

AMAZING! I placed a special order, from New York. My boyfriend is Brazilian and we were celebrating his birthday during a vacation to LA. I had been emailing back and forth with Maya trying to coordinate a delivery to our hotel, so it would be waiting for him upon our check in. Things could not have been more ideal! The brigadeiro were waiting in our room when we checked in and he was so thrilled. Not to mention– they are insanely good and a box of 24 was nearly gone by the next night. Maya is absolutely lovely to deal with. Can’t wait to order again.

Taste: 4 stars, value: 2 stars, service: 5 stars. The package arrived in pristine condition, very fast. These brigadeiros are very solid but definitely not worth $ 1.6 per chocolate (0.5 oz each). That is $ 40 for a custom package of 24 chocolates (12 oz.). now you gotta get me some stellar stuff for that price and that tiny size. When I was in Brazil, a beach vendor guy at Praia do Espelho in Bahia sold me brigadeiros that blew me out of the water. I also had really good brigadeiros at the Café Brasil on Venice Blvd and they were waaaaay cheaper…

A GREAT BUSINESS TO WORK WITH!!! I placed two orders, one went fine, the other was damaged by the post office, smashed, over-​wrapped with plastic, yellow stain all over box, with a note saying, sorry for the damage. Inside all survived and was fine. Maya had called me to say she couldn’t locate original package, and was going to send a replacement ASAP! When original packaged arrived, I called her to let her know that if replacement hadn’t been sent, don’t send because original was fine. She told me they had been sent, and told me to enjoy! Haven’t received brigadeiro’s yet, but already impressed with Maya’s customer service. Ordered sweets yesterday and received a coupon in email today. Maya didn’t waste any time applying the coupon to my order. Nice to be taken care of without a hassle.
Looking forward to giving Maya’s brigadeiro’s as special valentine’s gifts.

I’ve yet to taste Maya’s beautiful treats for myself, so I will be updating this review again in the future. I have purchased brigadeiro as a gift, so I can speak to that.
First, Maya has been friendly and personable in all of our communications. She responds quickly to inquiries and makes certain you know what to expect.
The online ordering process from her website was simple and seamless, and used payment processing through Paypal.
The order was filled quickly, and tracking is provided. Total transit time was 1 day and the brigadeiro arrived in great condition. Maya does not skimp on the aesthetics where the packaging is concerned. The brigadeiro arrived in an elegant arrangement, as pictured here and elsewhere on the internet.
I’ve already planned additional orders, and will include myself as one of the recipients.

It remains somewhat unclear how exactly I discovered this delightful vendor of Brazilian sweets. That point is moot, however … the important thing is I was introduced to brigadeiros, and now am I am quite enamored with them.
Prior to placing an order, I contacted Maya (via Unilocal messaging), and made several inquiries regarding deliveries and storage. Maya’s replies were startlingly prompt, extremely polite and friendly, and very helpful and informative.
Specifically, Maya assured me that her brigadeiros are freshly made to order, and are usually shipped out the following day. Therefore, if you are a fellow nefarious denizen of the Los Angeles area, you should expect delivery about 2 business days after order placement (e.g. place your order on Monday, package ships out on Tuesday, package is delivered on Wednesday).
Additionally, I was pleased to learn that brigadeiros can apparently be stored in one’s freezer for several months without losing «freshness». When stored outside of said freezer, the consumption quality (e.g. smooth texture) of the brigadeiros will be compromised about ~5 days.
As Maya does not currently have a physical/​retail sales outlet, your only option for taking possession of her goods is by ordering through her website, and having said goods shipped to you.
True to her word, my order was shipped out (via USPS Priority Mail) the day after I placed it — complete with a notification email containing a tracking number.
When I received my package, I found that the goods within were very carefully and professionally encased in bubble wrap. The boxes themselves were very attractive to the eye — transparent covers to allow identification of contents at a glance, secured with gold elastic ties.
Having known absolutely nothing about brigadeiros, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when taking my first bite. According to Maya’s website, her brigadeiros are confections primarily comprised of sweetened milk, organic cocoa powder, and unsalted butter.
One glance at her webstore, and it becomes clear that one may select from many varieties of brigadeiros. I ended up selecting a large (24-​piece) box of «Brazilian Staples», which included 6 brigadeiros of 4 flavors each:
–Classic Chocolate + Vermicelli Sprinkles
–Coconut Brigadeiro + Shredded Coconut
–Black & White Brigadeiro + Sparkling Sugar
–Coffee Brigadeiro + Dark Chocolate Flakes
I sampled the coconut brigadeiro first … I found the flavors to be quite overwhelming (in a good way), with a potency quite disproportionate for the size of the morsels.
Yes, «morsels» … these brigadeiros are actually much smaller than you probably think. But what they lack in size, they make up for in joy to the palate.
Following up with the coffee brigadeiro, I was once again quite impressed by the strength of the flavor … you can *really* taste the coffee in these things. If you are a coffee enthusiast, you MUST try these. The dark chocolate flakes atop the coffee brigadeiros accented and complemented the coffee flavor quite well.
The black & white brigadeiros were also very impressive (both visually and taste-​wise), particularly as their cores were respectively dark and light to match their exteriors. The outer layer of sparkling sugar only made things better.
The classic chocolate brigadeiros were by far the most «vanilla» of the 4 flavors. That doesn’t mean it’s in any way, shape, or form «bad» … just that it has the most mild and subtle flavor in comparison with the previous three. If you enjoy chocolates, this is definitely a brigadeiro variation you must sample. And if you don’t like chocolates … I’m unclear as to why you would order brigadeiros in the first place. o_​O
While all 4 flavors were wonderful, I’d say that my favorite was probably the the coconut brigadeiro (I’m biased, I love all things coconut flavored), followed closely by the coffee brigadeiro. I would rank the classic chocolate brigadeiro 3^rd, and the B&W brigadeiro last. YMMV.
I am very impressed by both the product quality and level of service offered by Maya’s business enterprise. I wish her the best of luck in her endeavors, and encourage everyone to give her brigadeiros a try, if you have not already done so. You won’t regret it.

A little over 6 months ago my wife and I had a trip to Brazil and we both fell in love with the Brigadeiro. Just a couple of weeks ago my wife surprised me for my birthday by giving me Maya’s Brigadiero, and I gotta say, this tastes really authentic. My favorite is the white and milk chocolate combo Brigadeiro and the sprinkles. They all taste great and really really authentic, as close as you can get to going to Brazil and buying it there.

I’m not a huge chocolate person (for shame, I know!), but I love that Maya does seasonal flavors like Passion Fruit. I ordered it for family for an Easter gathering… everyone loved it!

I had Maya Brigadeiro make up favor boxes for my L.A. wedding reception and everything was great! All the favors were gone by the end of the reception. Luckily, I got to try a bite of one brigadeiro and it was delicious! All my friends who opened theirs before they left said they were really good as well. I hope I get to order more next time so I get to try them all :) Thanks to Maya Brigadeiro for everything.

If you only read the first of this review, then” These are absolutely-​frikkin-​delicious and come gorgeously presented. If you need a dessert to bring to a party, to send as a gift, or make a romantic dinner a little bit more awesome, I can’t be clearer: you found the right store!
The brigadeiro are gooey, chocolatey and lend themselves really well to either being slowly savored or enjoyingly scarfed down. That said, I’ve ordered a couple times and they haven’t lasted more than a day in my apartment.
I’m also with Jena M’s review 100%, My Brigadeiro Brazilian sweets blows See’s and Godiva out of the water! Gift giving and dessert eating shouldn’t be standardized and formulaic. It should be joyful, thoughtful, and put a smile of excited discovery across your whole face. No one is surprised by See’s. When your friends try these brigadeiro for the first time, they’ll not only light up in response to this new find, they might also try and pull something pretty similar to what I did to my Brazilian girlfriend who introduced me to this dessert…(I married her.)
