Melrose Wine & Spirits was bought by father and son Rom and Ryan Askar in 2008. With Rom (father) having over 35 years in the business they have renovated and merchandised the store with all the necessities for any kind of occasion!

Good standard beer selection, good liquor selection. But the markup here on EVERYTHING is what kills it for me. If I’m in a pinch and need a decent bottle of beer, I can come here, but just know going in that you’re going to pay 15−25% more than just about any liquor store or supermarket.
As to the beer selection, they seem to not have any rare/​limited bottles on the shelves or in the back – so probably not worth it if your looking for rare varietals or cellared beers. Again the markup is just insane.

Well the pros is they have a great selection of alcohol and the cons are this place seems to have a problem with fraudulent transactions indeed. They did not overcharge me as others have said but as others have said after using my card here it seemed to have fraudulent charges on it within 2 days… And this is the only place that seems semi sketchy in terms of where I had used my card.

Watch out! Stop using this store. If you still want to go this place, make sure you do these:
1. Check your total amount in your receipt. The amount on receipt will be way more than what you need to pay.
2. Check your credit card statements, You might see fraudulent transactions from this store. I reported every single of fraudulent transaction from this store to credit card investigation team.
I have got at least 5 fraudulent transactions from this store and also later found out that they charged me $ 56 for the wine that had a tag price of $ 9.

Great beer selection. The selection is a bit pricey, but the quality is there (craft IPAs, porters, wheat varietals, sours, etc.). I wish they had bananas like Starbucks, but I should probably visit a different store for dinner to pair with my beer. That’s on me.

Let’s take a slow moment of silence for this beautiful beer selection. I’m always on the hunt to experiment with new craft beer, this place came through in a major way. They have a wide range of west coast brews and hard to find items such as the stone Enjoy By IPA and great Rogue ales. They even have brewery apparel, I look forward to more experimentation here.
P. S. The mural outside is cool.

Was driving by this corner neighborhood liquor store yesterday on my way to a party and running late as usual. What a selection of beer and whiskey, maybe the best I’ve ever seen in Los Angeles. A big thank you to the guys in the store for helping me out. You guys are great and so is the store!

Best local market and liquor joint with a really fantastic beer selection. Have been a patron of this solid spot for 5 years now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Everyone who works here is 100% friendly funny and awesome.
If you are local and thirsty stop by, you will be so happy you did!

Melrose Liquor (s) has Deschutes Brewery beers for $ 5.99 per 6 pack! It’s their regular price, not a sale. I hope posting this doesn’t ruin that because it’s a rare place in LA that carries beer from my favorite brewery, let alone at such an awesome price.

This place has the best prices for Sierra Nevada I have found in LA. The parking is a bitch but I usually do it illegally across the street and jaywalk for Seirra Nevada! Nice staff and good selection of other stuff although I have only bought Seirra Nevada.
