Small hole in the wall in a seedy area but food is great and the staff is super friendly. Had the lomo saltado which was one of the best I’ve had. Probably better than Mario’s. Also had the ceviche which was ok.
Tab for 2 of us was about $ 58 so a bit higher than we had expected from a hole in the wall. All in a all a good dining experience though and a place I would come back to.

Was looking for a decent place to eat but found this amazing spot!!! I’m on a specific diet and they were super friendly about it. The food was so bomb, I finished my whole plate n that rarely happens!!! BOMB!!!

Excellent food, worth the wait recommended the 6 items listed under the «from Peru now here» although place looks run down BUT the food makes up for it greatly and the service is an A+ VERY FRIENDLY!

So I came all the way from Berkeley CA. To see some family and I was in search of some great Mexican food. I stumbled across this small little spot with big flavor. I was always told that LA had the real Hispanic food and they were right! If you ever on E 12 you have to go here. If you like manudo you have to try it, fish you got to get the tilapia and who doesn’t like breakfast food? got to have chilaquiles. It’s a must

Really friendly guys running the place. I had the burrito mojado with chicken and it was super delicious. My buddy had the chicken torta and said that it was really flavorful. Good price, too. Good food, good service, good price. I will be back.

Lomo is really good and besides Marios (which is a hit and miss at times) this place is really good. After eating here with my wife and enjoying the food and customer service, I ordered food for my office (DTLA) they were here in about 25 minutes. The food was hot and as good as I remember it. The owner even called me a few hours later to make sure all was ok.
We will be ordering here again

Hole in the wall food joint but well worth it. The employees here were suuuuuper nice. My co-​worker and I went for lunch and we ordered the lomo saltado. They make it right in front of you, and it was really delicious. Fries were nice and crispy and the meat was tender. The seasonings were on point. They also have other Peruvian dishes as well as Mexican dishes, breakfast plates and burgers and sandwiches. The owner/​manager? Was really great also, he made sure we were helped and kept asking if we liked the food. I’d defensively recommend this place if you’re in the area. It’s right near the alleys, but don’t be scared or turned off this place is a must try!
They also cater, so give them a call if you are near by. Oh! And they deliver too! ;)

Ridiculously delicious and the chef’s are too cool! They’ll share stories from people that come from all over the world to eat here and they’ll drop knowledge on all the food they know how to cook too.

This restaurant is very nice! Everyone is welcoming and kind. But what makes it really special is the flavor and love put into the food! It is a bit of a hole in the wall in the heart of the LA fashion district. But if your going to stop anywhere stop here! The cook is amazinggg! He really knows what he is doing with flavor and food. You will never have a bland meal here! So far I’ve tried the pollo saltado, the cheeseburger and the grilled salmon! I can’t even pick a favorite because they were all delicious. I suggest them all. Felipe (the cook) has a real gift with food if you ask me, he should be working in a 5 star restaurant!

We are never disappointed with the food or service. Amazing tacos and tortas! This is definitely our favorite lunch spot in DTLA!

I’m not one for writing reviews (this is actually the first one I’ve ever written on Unilocal,though I’ve used Unilocal every single day for years), but I had to come on and give this place a raving one. This is definitely one of those hidden hole-​in-​the-​wall treasures. My current boss used to have a business in this area in downtown LA 20 years ago, and we happened to be around there for some volunteer work. He decided to take us to his old stomping grounds last minute on our way home as he asked us, «Do you want to have the best chicken sandwich in the world?» so naturally we were in. And he was right. It was the best chicken sandwich I had ever had! Very different, filled with flavor and zest, made to perfection, absolutely to die for! And the manager was the sweetest guy ever, still remembered my boss after 20 years. The cooks and other men working there are super nice, too. If you are looking for something really different, you should give this Peruvian styled place a go! The food is phenomenal! You won’t regret it!

Found this place while shopping the callejones. Had good Unilocal reviews etc… walked in place was small but the food made up for it. I ordered the taco place and honey ordered the Peruvian lomo saltado. Both plates were 100%. What compelled me to write a review. …the customer service. The guys in there are nice and attentive even though they are buys. You can watch them do all the cooking… it’s like a Mexican benihana lol food was good and they even deliver to the the dtla area… def PRO. Left there full and feeling like I was leaving my tios house! Don’t let the exterior keep u from trying some delicious Peruvian or Mexican staples.

The shrimp cocktail is delicious. They put avocado, and lots of other ingredients. It’s a small place but the food is great.

Awesome Peruvian food, I got the «Bisteck a lo Pobre «, steak, eggs, rice and fried plantains. Friendly service and good food. They serve breakfast, lunch and early dinner. The Peruvian food here worth it: fresh, authentic and delicious. feeling like home

I only write Unilocal reviews when something is amazing or terrible — no in between. This place is amazing! I work right next door and I come here and eat often. The customer service is EXCELLENT always. They never have an off day! The food is fantastic — best Mexican food I’ve had and I’m a Los Angeles native! I’m a pretty predictable eater, so I usually get the same thing or a variation of the same thing for breakfast and lunch, but I’m sure everything on the menu tastes good. Even when I bring friends they say the food is great! You won’t be disappointed!

I’ll drive out of my way to eat here, and have been doing so for years. Forget the humble exterior, the food is expertly prepared by the friendly staff. I recommend that you try their Peruvian specialties and seafood, you’ll be back for more!

What a find! Forget about the food being on point let me start with the customer service, as soon as you walk in the cooks and owner greet you making the whole experience feel like they are family. DELICIOUS FOOD! I had a T-​BONE STEAK topped with mushrooms beans on the side, trust me when I say I have tried steak all over LOS ANGELES but this time I didn’t have to ask for A1 sauce the steak itself juicy and full of Taste. I also had a FRESH LEMONADE ohhhh my god! I need one rightttt now… Restaurant is small lil hole in the wall but I can guarantee you’ll be satisfied not only with your meal but GREAAAAT! customer service. I would definitely recommend this spot don’t let the outside appearance fool you YOU’LL BE BACK…

I have been eating here for 16 years. Awesome! Everything is good, but the sea food menu is the best. Also ask for the jalapeños…with oregano and bay leaves. The. Best.
My favorite is the fries… little secret they cool them in lard. It makes a difference!

If you’ve ever longed for that flavorful and crazy taste bud reaction then this is the place to go. It accommodates anybody’s budget as well as preference of food. Cheap things aren’t good and good things aren’t cheap. This place truly will blow you away, from the way they greet you, to the music, to most importantly the food. They don’t take your order to some line cook in the back– no no no not at all. They prepare it for you right there and then so their is no discrepancy in what went in your food and if it was made properly.
Given the nature of your visit, wether rushed because you’re on your lunch break or you have some time you’ll always get the same end result– sheer satisfaction with such a long lasting impression you come right back.

Five stars, no contest. This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in LA. Stumbled upon this small restaurant by accident with a friend and it turned out to be the highlight of our day. The food is incredible and the owner and his cooks could not have been more personable. The spices were robust, the sauces exceptional, and the guac perfect. I almost selfishly decided against writing this review for the sake of keeping the restaurant a secret, but that would be a disservice to the owner, who has cooked there for over 30 years, and who deserves this five-​star review plus many more.
