I LOVE Monte de Zion. I remember when it used to be Liborio I would buy meat, water etc but never fruit because the quality was bad. Since Zion owners bought it, their fruit quality has gone up considerably. I would always go to Vons or Ralphs for my fruit, but now I just pick it up at Zion. It has my 3 b’s seal of approval«bueno, bonito, y barato» which means it’s good, good-looking, and great on price” This is my go-to place for food!

If you are from central america you will love this place! They have mist things you won’t be able to find at a supermarket. It can be a bit pricey, but aome items are worth it. The place is small, but it has its own parking. I have never made a long line even though it can get crowded. They have a little section were you can buy ready to order food. They have pupusas and hot plates. By the way the pupusas are 4 for $ 5 and they are not the small ones!

Bottom Line: This is the only place in Los Angeles that I know of that carries Port Royal lager beer in a bottle. It is a Honduran beer that I discovered on a trip to Roatan that was founded by a German expat that migrated to the Roatan Islands a long time ago. Not sure if Nazi defector or just coincidence. Port Royal is a crisp full bodied lager with a good deal of flavor. Monte De Zion, beer me! Notes: Stay away from the Guatemalan and El Salvadorian beers, piss water.

I’m gonna be a hipster and say ‘This used to be a Liborio’s first’ and you will wonder«Why the hell does everyone keep saying that» then the mainstream will catch on and it won’t be cool anymore. :( The lay-out of this store and the store of old stayed relatively the same. It’s really one of the smallest markets I’ve ever been to but it’s chock-full of product and make you reminisce of the good olé’ days. Basically, if you’re central american then this place is not only the go-to place for your shopping, but almost a god-send. They even kept the wall of machetes, man! I’m a Guatemalan… but of the cooler variety. I’m 5’11″ and tower over all my brethren(except Salvi’s) like some crazy giant conquistador. Call me mestizo, I don’t give a sheet. Seriously though. The food and snacks here are crazy amazing. Even though this place is small, the variety here is crazy good. I’m a little worried about the words ‘Crazy’ in my review at this point. They have good deals as well. There’s also a panederia that sells fresh-made bread and even fresh cooked meat. That’s pretty neat-o. Just be warned: As soon as you hit the produce section, it gets pretty bad at walkiing through with your cart. It gets Trader-Joe’s kinda bad. Not only that but the aisles are just small as all hell. But again… it adds to the appeal, if you ask me. Just be ptient, if you’re like me, you might accidentally step over someone.(Seriously what’s up with my people being under 4 ft tall?)

Awesome prices, friendly staff, fresh produce, and they have parking. I do love this place. It was only 3 block from our old apartment. I miss this place. Go, and enjoy.

This store rocks !!! Whenever I am in K Town, I try to stop by this store. It is a unique grocery store. Judging from the store front, it looks like a «hole in the wall» mom and pop operation. Once you walk inside, you see it is a normal grocery store with everything a grocery store has to offer. The asiles are narrow and the store is always busy. The produce dept. has great deals. The in store bakery is nice. I love their Pina Empanadas. Whats weird is the parking lot is in the back and shares parking with several businesses . ***** This was a Liborio Market at one time. Zion has cleaned the store up and is much more organized now *****

We don’t seem to go anywhere else when we need fresh produce! The prices are crazy cheap! I mean really crazy. You can get pineapples for only 50 cents sometimes! They have cilantro at 10 bunches for a dollar! Plus, the workers are very friendly. Just be prepared for an intense, crowded little store… yet, I think it only makes sense because who doesn’t want to go there?
