OMG! This place is amazing. The chicken tandoori was just OK but the cauliflower was wonderful, the chickpees were spectacular and the chicken curry was out of this world. the place looks like a run down supermarket but don’t let that deceive you!

I love this place. The food is delicious, authentic and two people can eat for under $ 20. The market itself is well stocked and full of really interesting products. This has become our go to Indian place for both eating and shopping.

The food is sooo bad, I brought home curry chicken and I’m glad I warmed it up to the point where the sauce separated into so much fat. I was able to skim as much fat as possible, it looked like thousands of calories. I would never walk into this place again, I rather have cereal for dinner, in fact I would of been better of with cereal.

Worst place ever. For my lunch break, I went to this place based on its reviews and I could’nt have been more disappointed. I got food to go and when i checked in the bag the food was disgusting to the point that i literally had to throw it in the trash as soon as I saw it. Also the kitchen looked awful. There were flys flying on their shelf sweets. And the guy working behind the counter gave me a bad vibe as he «accidently» charged me twice until I corrected him. This placed should not be allowed to serve food.

Wow! who knew this littel indian store was a tucked away gem in Mid City? Sure, the store looks no so great, but those potatoe samosas and aloo parathas are so good! and the best part part was that it wasn’t completely vegetarian, so i got some amazing butter chicken as well. Food is top notch, but the tamarind and cilantro chutneys were meh. I am so happy I don’t have to drive all the way down to Torrance or Artesia to get amazing samosas!

This place has changed ownership and is AWESOME. Best Indian market ever. Best chicken tikka masala. Seriously you need to try this place as it is just pure amazingness. The naan is perfectly made, they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes and the chicken tikka masala is cooked perfectly with the perfect creamy sauce. Will be back again and again!!!

As of May 2015, this place has a new owner! The food is almost the same as before. For the price, this place is really good! I go here very rarely and have a paratha or two. But alas, these cheap places won’t get rid of styrofoam and I hate it.

This couple is extremely rude… they give u hell if u want to return something even if its a rotten frozen item, or even an unrefridgerated unopened item. They overprice everything. I advise everyone to not come here and go somewhere else… they think they’ll always have caucasian customers so they don’t care to be nice to customers

I actually loved their samosas but the dude at the counter is just a plain douche. I came here quite a few times and was subjected to his Ahole ness but today was enough for me. I order he acts like he didn’t get it. I order again, he says okay, then hops on the phone and starts this long ass conversation as if I’m not even standing there. No excuse me, nothing! SoI grabbed my little one and dipped. I can find another samosa spot. I’m done paying to be treated like a third class citizen. Suck it!

I’ve been coming in for several years for lunch on and off. The food is generally fine and there’s no local alternative for Indian food. Today I was over charged for my lunch(again) and charged 50 cents extra for some onion slices. They have NO concept of customer service. Beyond cheap. It’s my last visit. It’s really offensive that they won’t let you use the restroom. To save a few penny’s on soap and toilet paper I imagine. I’ve overheard his heated arguments with other customers when they dare to ask for change for the nearby laundromat. Makes me wonder about what goes on in the kitchen. I’m sad to write this review because the owner knows me by sight and still ZERO courtesy.

Great Indian food and always fresh. The different combos are all amazing and the amount of food is spot on. Dosa, Lasi, etc are all made fresh to order. Perfect for take out or a quick sit down. The eating area is not fancy but does the job. While you are waiting for your good, pick up some groceries too! The many times I have been there I never experienced and negative customer service from anyone. Always accommodating and with a smile! Parking is in the back but getting there is tricky as there are many potholes, so be careful!

I have been coming here for 15 years so I thought it time to write a review. The food has a very home cooked taste and not overly rich. They do some things particularly well, like the chai tea which I think is the best I have had outside of India. Their combo 3 is an excellent vegetarian lunch and their chicken Tikka Masala is really delicious and creamy. The paneer dosa is great which is like a large crêpe filled with potato and cheese and comes with a coconut chutney and a creamy hot sauce and small soup on the side. Their Idli Sambar is a really nice larger soup, I like how they make it better than anywhere else, and I have tried quite a few. The same goes for their Chana Samosa, a really delish appetizer with great flavors and textures. They make all the condiments themselves and all the food is very fresh and really is home made, every day. This place does not have a regular menu like a typical Indian restaurant, their choices are more limited but still many things to discover and is also why everything has that home made feel, like coming to an Indian families home for a meal. They also make lots of typical Indian desserts and have a great mini grocery with all the things one needs to cook Indian food. Me, my wife and child and many friends have come to know the couple and their children, we have watched each other grow thru the years. They are very nice people and their food reflects as such.

Yes, the food is tasty and Yes, the place is convenient to pick up Indian spices but it’s that worth rude customer service? I think Not! There are’re other options with nicer people. I went to make a quick stop to pick up some spices. I waited in line behind 1 guest and when it was my turn to be served next, an Indian guy walked straight to the front and cut me in line! I asked the owner, «isn’t there a line?». He looked at me continue to serve the Indian guy and then said nothing. I set my item on the counter and then walked out. Good bye!

love the food here, inexpensive and delicious. Let me tell you one thing, you don’t judge the south indian food at a north indian restaurant .nope that is just wrong. Samosas are very traditional. yes they have lots of potatoes and peas and decent amount of spice. Chicken Tikka masala is good but i am fan of the palak paneer, eggplant and okra here. The chole are good and can be made super tasty(if you add tamarind sauce, cilantro and chopped onions to it). The parathas, rotis and phulkas are freshly made and to die for… yes this is the best thing here!!! Yes do charge a fee for purchases under $ 10 here. If you are not cool with that, get cash or spend more than $ 10 here ;-). If you have a sweet tooth then go for ladoo and jalebis, I do agree with another reviewer that the rasmalai is not the best, but still pretty passable. The lady here is so sweet and her husband has always been nice to me so I don’t know about the reviewers who say he was rude to them. Overall, i love the food here and way better than most of the fancier indian restaurants in LA.

This place has awesome inexpensive Indian food, desserts and groceries. Just the smell of Indian spices inside here is worth 5 stars. The woman at the counter has the kindest smile. True hidden gem.

Meet the Curry Nazi Remember the Seinfeld episode when Jerry encounters the scary Soup Nazi? Meet the Curry Nazi, the scariest server of Indian food here in Mid-City cerca Little Ethiopia. He hates customers. I went there because I had the worst craving for Indian food. I had an extra small container of eggplant($ 3.50) and one of vegetable curry(3.50) and one samosa. He neglected to give me any dipping sauce for the samosa — maybe because, I don’t look Indian and perhaps he thought I was a dumb non– Indian who never had a samosa with all the glorious sauces before. I had the roti, which I prefer over naan because it’s thinner and crispier like a crêpe. But he still overcharged me. It’s labeled as a dollar but he charged me a $ 1.50. The samosa was stale. It really needed the tamarind sauce and the mint chutney! The eggplant was bland. But the curry was scrumptious: it was creamy, rich, and spicy. If only the owner was a little nicer, I would have immediately went to the counter to get a gallon of the stuff. I knew he wanted me to get the hell out of his store and how dare I spend money at his store. He packed my food«to-go» and then was so pissed that I dared to ask for a fork, which he forgot to put in. For Indian food lovers, there is a better All you can eat buffet at India’s Tandoori on Wilshire and La Brea, which has all you eat eat/drink mint chutney and tamarind sauce, plus everything the Curry Nazi sells like tikka masala. For a better and less scary hole in the wall Indian food experience, pick up a samosa at India Sweet House on Pico, which is walking distance away; and yes, there is a tamarind and chutney bar … like the Mexican salsa bar.

Giving any restaurant from my mother land a bad review hurts me, but I can’t give this place any more than 2 stars. Channa samosa — samosa had too many potatoes and not enough flavor. The channa was flavorful but too liquidy. The garbanzo beans themselves were a little raw/undercooked. Some prefer it that way but I don’t. Dosa — not very flavorful itself could use a pinch of salt in the batter, but was cooked well to a nice crisp. The chutneys that came with it were awful, very lopsided in taste and not complemtary to the sambar. The sambar was decent, but I’ve definitely had better. It was a little light for my tastes, I’d prefer my sambar a little grittier and full bodied. It was just a little overly salty and spicy but decent overall. Rasmalai — while not the best consistency I’ve had in rasmalai it was definitely one of the better ones ive had in la. The cheese was a little powdery, maybe some tlc and pounding the cheese would rectify that. The milk on the other hand was perfect. It was just the right amount of sweetness and was light and flavorful. Often times Indian restaurants will add some cream to appeal to our fat taste buds but this was done well.

Bad service — a man working there yelled at me because I had asked for the wrong size to go container. Another time I got some bad gulab jamun that tasted like chemicals. Some of the food is decent and cheap — not a bad option if you’re willing to deal with some dingy seating, but there are way better options in the area if you need a fix.

Great, great, great, food. I ordered some Nan along with lamb I believe. Whatever they brought me has me salivating just recalling it. The place seemed slow when I got there which was interesting because the food was too tasty. The only thing that kept it away from 5 stars was the fogginess concerning how I was supposed to pay. My waitress was running between helping at the cash register and checking in on me which made it difficult for her to remember about me. I ended up walking my dishes back up to the cash wrap and paying there. The bill was too small for me to believe, so this makes it a place I’m going back to for sure.
