No 33 – A Proper Haberdashery

This is review number one covering initial outreach, first valet appointment for fitting, fabric and cut selection and ordering.
I could not have been more comfortable and pleased with my outreach to No. 33, their responses and the subsequent private fitting appointment at my office.
Neil arrived with a thousand fabrics, narrowed to my exact requests, then walked me through the many options available, including buttons, lapel cut, venting, pockets, pocket hole stitching, and fabrics.
Next, I had a thorough fitting where every imaginable measurement was taken. This took about an hour, but I was more than happy to spend the time knowing that any subsequent shirt, pant, sport coat or suit order I make will be by phone to my exact specs — without the need of a personal appointment (if I don’t gain /​lose a bunch of weight, etc.).
My first order was a simple black houndstooth sport coat that can double as a semi-​formal coat in a pinch. I have no doubt the final product will be as meticulously constructed as the appointment was professional.
I will update my review when the coat arrives, but the fitting and special service alone are worth ¾ of the cost of any piece that arrives in a month.
Kudos No. 33 for allowing the average, but truly discerning, man to dress extremely well.

No33 made the perfect tux for my wedding day, and their customer service was above and beyond what I expected.
I was nervous about getting my wedding tuxedo made by a company that hadn’t been used by anyone I knew personally, but the reviews were good, and the photos of the product looked nicer than most. I also liked the convenience of having them come to me instead of having a brick and mortar location.
I met with Neil, saw some very nice examples in person, and gave them a shot. Neil was friendly, knowledgeable, and worked with me to make sure the tux looked absolutely perfect. Also, the prices were very reasonable given the quality of product.
My tux honestly looked better than any other formal clothing I’ve ever worn. I will not be going anywhere else for suits, and would highly recommend others do the same.

Neil made getting a custom jacket very easy. Came to my office for the first measure and I got to pick from what seemed like an endless amount of fabrics and styles. He was very patient as I tried to figure out what I liked. He made great recommendations. I was on a fairly tight time line and he made it happen. Came again to my office a couple weeks later for a fit. Then took it back to make small adjustments and brought it back to me a couple days later. Very happy with the service, couldn’t have been easier as he came to me every time. I love the jacket and although it does cost more to get a custom jacket made, it was well worth it for me in the style, quality, fit, etc. I’ve never gotten anything close to this in a store. Very pleased, I will definitely use him again when I need something else. I also called around to several other custom shops and Neil was right in line if not a bit better priced.

What an amazing haberdashery, not that I know any better. My experience with suits is buying the best fitting size off of a rack and having it tailored to my dimensions. However, I felt that upon entering my early 30s that one should, at least once, have a suit custom made.
I consulted with No. 33 after having read nothing but stellar reviews about the establishment. Shortly after a couple of back-​and-​forth emails Neil showed up to my studio to take my measurements and go over the plethora of options. Every detail of the suit was explained to me and the process took longer than I had anticipated, which is not a bad thing.
Long story short, Neil brought the suit over to me and did a second fitting which wasn’t quite right the first time. He came back a couple times after to make minor adjustments so that the suit met not only my expectations but his as well. The result is a 3-​piece suit that fits and looks better on me than any of the other suits that I own or have owned. Why I haven’t done this in the past is due to my own ignorance, I only paid a little more than I did for the suits off-​the-​rack.
If you need/​want a great suit, call/​email these guys ASAP. 5/​5, will repeat when spring comes around.

If you are buying a suit, you should pick up the phone and give No33 a call. I will never buy a suit from a suit outlet again; these guys are fantastic and I cannot say enough about how great the entire experience was. They made the suit that I wore at my wedding, and it looked and fit better than any suit I’ve ever had. Don’t spend that money at a suit store; have one made for you instead.
It is a highly personalized experience. The valet service they provide is fantastic. Neil, who was my contact point, came to my house with binders of fabrics and styles, and we sat and discussed all of the options and what I was looking for, and what fell within my budget. He took a lot of time and care in describing the process and materials, and worked out a final design. His knowledge of styles and cuts and fabric was impressive, and his demeanor was more of a consultant than a salesman; he was never pushy and just guided me towards my final design.
Neil is fantastic, and I highly recommend asking for him.
You might be asking yourself about pricing at this point, and I can tell you that they will work with you on your budget, and you will most likely pay less than what you would pay in a mid range suit store. My father bought his suit at Jos A Bank, from a sales guy who didn’t care about how it looked on him, and spent more than I did on a custom suit, with a vest and fitted shirts from No33. Granted, I’m guessing you could go with the really expensive options that No33 offers, but they can also bring it down to stay in your price range.
Please do yourself a favor and call them, and then ask for Neil. Without question, this is how suit shopping should be done.

I have always had trouble finding a proper suit, so I turned to custom fitters for what’s to be the most important interview of my life. After calling I was promptly contacted by Andy. He then pointed me to Neil who would come into my office to do the fitting. From day 1, Neil was as accommodating and pleasant to work with as I had hoped, if not more. Even with a deadline, the team at No. 33 worked so fast and well they managed to have my suit days before this interview. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe how pleasant it was to work with Neil, Andy, and the rest of the team at No. 33. My first, new, black suit is absolutely gorgeous and exceeded all my expectations. Now, I’m readier than I could imagine for said interview. They have earned themselves a customer for life; there simply is no other option in my life at this point.

I needed a couple of new suits for my wedding weekend. Being the owner of only one suit that was purchased online and a few sizes too big, I thought doing it the right way this time was the only way to go.
I called up No. 33 and within days Neil was in my office taking my measurements. A few weeks later I had two three-​piece tailored suits that fit like gloves. He made a few additional trips to me in order to really dial in the fit. All of my concerns and desires with the fit, fabric, and color were listened to. I was on a budget, so he had plenty of fabric options that accommodated my budget. Neil delivered on everything!
I couldn’t be happier with the suits, and would recommend No. 33 to anyone wanting a great haberdashery experience.

The owner of the company called me in response to my review and said they use an answering service, so it wasn’t the actual company that answered the phone. The problem, of course, is that the answering service is still the guardian to getting through to the company. Maybe I’ll give them another chance when they get that ironed out. Instead, I went to Richard Lim and got my awesome suit on in less than 2 weeks.

Fantastic Experience!
I normally purchase my suits in department stores, but never again. This was effortless: I was measured in just a couple minutes and now everything fits perfectly and looks great.
They have my measurements on file, so I can now order anything in their catalogue (which looks extensive) and it will fit perfectly. I’ll definitely be returning and I’m happy to know my next order can be made at the push of a button, rather than me driving out to the mall, waiting for a sales rep, looking at a limited number of options, and then getting measured all over again.
I highly recommend this service to all my friends and will definitely be back!

Amazingly detailed experience!
I hadn’t ever bought a custom suit before but wanted one for my wedding so after doing a lot of research I found No 33 and decided to give them a shot. I was extremely hesitant to invest in a custom suit but after meeting with Neil (came to my home for a fitting) I felt extremely comfortable. There was no pushy salesman vibe and I was shown fabrics within my budget as well as fabrics outside just to compare. He was patient enough to take plenty of time educating me on what would suit me best. (no pun intended — eh, maybe a little) It became a fun collaborative effort through showing him imagery and discussing exactly what the end goal was. and this was all in the first meet.
I’ll speed it up and say that the finished product came about 4 weeks later and I was so happy and relieved with the results. Neil made sure everything was fitting properly, he made notes on what changes he needed to make and a week later he returned with the edits. You would think he would have been happy to see everything fitting great and call it a final sale, but his detailed mind wouldn’t let him rest. He noticed a small area on my back that I would’ve missed (and would not have been noticeable) but he decided he needed to make the suit as perfect as possible. He made a third trip back and everything was absolutely perfect. He even ran me through how to properly fold and store the suit!
Overall this experience could not have gone better. Neil is a great dude and you can tell he has a strong passion for what he does. I’ll be recommending him and his business strongly in the future and definitely will be making another suit purchase.

Working with Andy of No. 33 was an awesome decision. I purchased made to measure suits previously from other stores online, but I preferred an in-​person measurement from a professional tailor. I needed a suit for my wedding in a few months, and luckily I came across No. 33 through Unilocal.I emailed them for more information, and I got a response from Andy very quickly. He was extremely helpful and informative in his initial email to me.
Once I scheduled a fitting with him, it was a very smooth process. Andy came to my home and took my measurements, explained all the aspects of the suit, showed me all the different fabrics he had, and made sure he answered all of my questions thoroughly. One giant advantage of getting measured in person was the fact that Andy was able to figure out why some of my measurements might have seemed wrong to the online stores. I’m a very meticulous person, so I truly appreciated Andy’s impeccable attention to detail.
After about a month of getting my measurements taken, my suit and shirt were ready to be delivered. He came back to my house to deliver my suit and shirt, and they were awesome. The fit was great, the fabric was great, and the whole experience was great. Andy also made sure that I was comfortable with the suit and made it clear that if any adjustments needed to be made, he would gladly get it done.
I definitely plan on buying more suits and shirts from No. 33!

From beginning to end, Neil and no.33 exceeded my expectations and delivered a perfect suit for me.
I got in touch with Andy when I was looking for a custom suit for my wedding. He was able to set me up with an in-​home fitting within a week. Since I was new to this process, Neil walked me through all the choices and was able to deliver the suit I had in my mind! Every detail was covered and every detail was delivered on the final suit.
This was by far the easiest process of our wedding planning and it gave me a suit I will wear forever. I will definitely be back because of the attention to detail, great service and amazing quality of no.33.

Impossible to convey what Neil and No33 accomplished for me. In short — with impeccable attention to detail, and an incredibly tight turn around, he and his team made from scratch a two piece, white satin, english style ‘tails’ tuxedo !! custom fitted to the 9^th degree, and in EVERY WAY PERFECT. My goal was a Gaultier, Yves St. Laurent level garment and that was exactly what I got. It’s not hyperbole to say that for my budget, NO ONE ELSE in the world could have delivered the kind of craftsmanship, cut, and quality that these guys delivered. Neil came to my place numerous times to personally handle multiple fittings, to study in detail my photo references, and was very honest and decisive when it came time to choose fabrics and lock design. More than anything else, after meeting Neil, I had utter confidence that he could make this extremely ambitious idea work — and he did. This gentleman is going places. Come get one of his pieces before the mega stars find out.

Highly recommend if you want/​need a custom suit. The service was great! I needed a suit for my wedding and Neil came to my place to measure and determine what style and fabric I wanted. They were able to deliver in a relatively short amount of time. I ordered with several weeks notice and he came back to remeasure for final alterations before the wedding. Very pleased w the result and would go back if/​when I want another suit.

Just picked up my 2^nd suit and these guys hit the mark! The in-​home measuring and then delivering a perfectly fitted suit made this experience one of a kind for me. Sorry Prada and Barney’s, they spoiled me!

Cannot recommend highly enough! Neil and his team provided world class service, and an awesome, finely tailored suit for my wedding.
After reaching out via e-​mail, I promptly received a response from No.33 and the process of getting fitted, ordering my custom suit, having a delivery fitting, and ultimately receiving the suit & shirt was seamless and extremely convenient. Neil came to my office to do the initial fitting and provided a truly impressive palette of fabric and design options. When the suit was ready, Neil came to my house for a delivery fitting. My suit needed a couple of minor tweaks, and was re-​tailored and returned in a matter of days, again directly to my house.
I ended up buying a blue linen suit for my wedding, as well as a custom white shirt with my initials sewn into the cuff. Neil’s attention to detail was obvious, as we discussed everything from the color of my shoes, the color of my belt, my groomsmen’s outfits, the side I wear my watch on, and every last detail of my desired proportions. This was my first experience with a true haberdashery, but Neil’s pleasant attitude and helpful demeanor made me feel extremely comfortable and confident with the process. I was especially grateful for Neil’s candid advice about color and fabric options, and how certain combinations better suited my fair skin tone and features.
I will recommend HIGHLY to friends, family and co-​workers, and I plan to buy more shirts & suits from No.33 in the near future!

Let me start off by saying that I have dealt with haberdasheries all over the world. In the states, I have dealt with several in various cities over the years. I believe my search for the perfect haberdashery has ended with my discovery of the gents at No. 33.
I was recently in need of finding someone to provide me a tailor made navy blazer with a little something «extra» in it. I wanted something traditional, but at the same time a little more unique than your run of the mill blazers. Enter No. 33. I went through a ton of different fabrics, shades, and custom items for creating the perfect blazer. I was able to discuss everything down to what particular buttons I wanted. During the entire time, I was put at ease with how they handled everything from measuring me to explaining the different fabrics, etc. While I have dealt with tailors before, the service provided by No. 33 was bar none the best I have had to date!
During my time with No. 33 I also inquired as to custom dress shirts for both work and casual dress for a night out on the town. I was provided so many different choices and options it could make one’s head spin! I was given plenty of time to look at the fabrics and come up with the perfect shirt combinations. The insight provided by No. 33 during the entire process was phenomenal.
At the end of the day, I was able to get an amazing fitting blazer that had style along with custom shirts that were on par or better than any major «label» brand out there. To top it all off, the prices were very competitive with the market and makes buying off the rack seem foolish.
Suffice to say, No. 33 will be my go to tailor for years to come. Thank you guys, I cannot wait to place my next order for a couple of suits!

My brother’s wedding was a month away and my soon-​to-​be sister-​in-​law decides that she now wants the men in navy blue suits and white french cuffs shirts. I don’t have either and my unusually slim frame makes it impossible to buy suits off-​the-​rack. I was so lucky to find the guys at No. 33.
Knowledgeable, friendly, and impeccably dressed, Neil showed up at my door two days later to take my measurements and show me options. These guys bent over backwards to get me my suit and shirt in time, even shipping it to Arizona for the wedding when I had to leave town early.
The suit fit very well at the wedding, and when I returned to LA I had them make a few adjustments. I just tried on the newly tailored finished suit for the first time 15 minutes ago and it fits so well and looks so great that I haven’t taken it off yet.

This is as good as it gets. I ordered three shirts to try them out, and I’m extremely pleased and plan to order more clothing from the company. The shirts are exactly what I wanted and they fit perfectly. I have to add that I work with a number of very stylish people and they have noticed when I am wearing one of my custom shirts — the fit is right and the material is very good, and that makes me look good. If you want to up your game in the style department, put yourself in Neil’s hands.
