Nolan & Taft Management

So far, this has not been a good rental experience. They do not provide quality service to their renters and only care about exploiting us for money. We were promised a new, non-​dripping fridge– was replaced with the handle on the incorrect side of the door which made it impossible to open. We locked ourselves out and it cost fucking 76 to get let in… Definitely not gonna renew the lease.

VERONICA IS FANTASTIC! She was my leasing agent and manager for my place in venice and she is by far the best agent I’ve worked with! (I’ve dealt with good and bad management companies and private owners in many different cities). From day one when my boyfriend and I were house hunting and calling around she had immediate energy and professionalism. She was very prompt to the showing and extremely knowledgable and able to answer all our questions. Anytime throughout our lease if I had any type of issue or question she immediately responded with my options. She was constantly willing to work with us and and was one of the best parts of living in LA. Veronica makes this company tick and if everyone at the company was like her I bet all these reviews would be five stars. Rest assured you’re in good hands if your leasing with her!!!

RUDE RUDE RUDE! I don’t currently lease from Nolan and Taft, but I can assure you I never will! After a short phone call conversation with Veronica Anthony, it made my decision very easy to not pursue any apartments that they manage.
When I first got on the phone with Veronica, I informed her that she just had emailed me concerning an apartment that I expressed interest in. Instead of making me feel like a valued potential customer, she snapped at me saying «SWEETIE, I just emailed about 100 people, I have no idea who you are…»
After me rebounding back from such a comment, I continued to ask questions about the place that I was interested in, and instead of helpful information, she kept correcting me on certain terms.
As the conversation was coming to an end and I asked about other apartments that may be available, I asked her if I was able to look at another apartment at the same time she had given me in an email… assuming that both apartments were in the same building. Her rude replay was simply «ummmm NO. I manage about 40 different locations so NO I cannot show you another apartment.»
I will never rent from this management company. I have already experienced their attitude in my initial phone call, I can’t imagine what they would be like as my apartment’s management company. Rude and unprofessional.
Nolan and Taft, you may want to consider someone a little bit nicer and patient to be answering your phones and helping potential leasers. Veronica Anthony is a terrible representation.

I’ve been living in an NT property for a little over a year now and haven’t had any issues at all with the management company, and I’m a little surprised at the negative vibe here to be honest!
I’m not a particularly high maintenance tenant but when I do have an issue John & Robert on the maintenance crew are always quick to respond and to book repairs if necessary (and they show up when they say they will), and they do good quality work and clean up after themselves. The washing machines are always up and running too, which is key.
Veronica, overworked though she is, is always around if we need her and is always friendly and helpful.
They have a cleaning crew that comes around once a week to sweep the stairs and other public areas, and the planters and things are always clean and thriving and full of palm trees.
There’s an issue with people parking where they’re not supposed to, but that’s besides the point (and it wouldn’t be an LA apartment without turf wars over parking!)
Lastly, I can do everything from request repairs to pay rent online, which is a huge improvement over the other places I’ve lived in. All in all I’ve had a great experience with NT.

After living in NT Management property, please please don’t sign up with them. They are cockroach infested, poorly maintained buildings and nobody takes responsibility. The leasing agent although at some moments helpful, does not provide adequate solutions, but rather blames the customer for all their mistakes. We are so disappointed. Place is over priced and they provide false advertisement regarding features and amenities. Just awful.

I hate that I even have to give 1 star for this shit hole of a place. I was living in an apartment at their location 12 504 Venice Blvd. And OH… My… God. It’s a miracle I didn’t hang myself while living there. The floors are all synthetic wood, extremely squeaky (don’t ask them to fix it, they won’t) I woke up every morning at 4am because the guy upstairs got up to go to work at that time and it sounded like a herd of elephants running around. The squeaking was so terrible, I could hear when he sat on his bed, masturbated, fucked his boyfriend, talked, laughed, and cried. I went a little nuts living here. I asked him to try to be quieter as the year went by, and it never got better. I complained to management, they didn’t care. I begged to break my lease, they said no. So I waited. While I waited, the laundry all went up to $ 2.00 a load. My car got broken into 3 times and towed because I was 2 minutes late in moving my car for the street cleaning day. Black mold grew on my walls and I got sick and had to have a team of cleaners come in and disinfect the place. Cockroaches slipped in through the holes in the walls and the landlord Veronica, never EVER answers her phone when you need her for help. So just call 911. It’s faster. Her mailbox is always too full to leave a voicemail and she never responds to her email. IVE SPENT A FORTUNE FIXING THIS DISGUSTING EXCUSE FOR AN APARTMENT and I have NEVER been reimbursed. She said she was ‘so sorry’ for how miserable I was living in my conditions and I called ‘bullshit’. She never, ever tried to make anything better. She said the guy living up above me was ‘sweet and kind and didn’t mean any harm’. Well, he ticked me off everyday and told me to my face that he enjoyed stomping around and he paid rent like everyone else and wasn’t going to stop. These are the kinds of people that live at 12 504 Venice blvd. BEWARE. And last thing I’ll say before I forget this hell on earth place exists. When I moved out, the next day I did my walk through and turned in my keys. Veronica charged me for an extra day of rent because I didn’t PHYSICALLY HAND HER MY KEYS the DAY I moved out. That was a lovely cherry on top of my godforsaken nightmare. I would rather suck farts out of a camels butt for a living than ever live here again.

I learned my lesson, so save yourself a huge headache and find another place.
The Nolan Taft brothers don’t care about how well their tenants are, they just want to push you as far as possible without having to pay for things. They will milk you down to the very penny. Poor Veronica has turned into their henchmen.

After living at an NT property for almost a year now, I’ve got no complaints. I understand that the experience definitely varies from property to property, but I definitely lucked out.
My experience with Veronica, who runs a majority of the day-​to-​day work (like showing rentals, signing paperwork, etc.) has been great. In fairness, I’ve only been out in the real world renting for about a couple years now, but she’s been nothing but polite, friendly, professional and generally on-​top-​of-​it. We checked out the apartment we wanted, submitted the application and signed the lease within a matter of days.
The building is well-​designed and well-​kept (I honestly think I lucked out with my particular apartment and building). I haven’t had any interactions with the property owner himself, but the manager at our apartment is friendly, and she never micro-​manages or anything like that. Management here generally keeps to themselves, so I’ve got no complaints.
Happy renters here!

Older building that had some initial problems but maintenance has worked hard to get our apartment into good condition. They are responsive and easy to get in touch with.

Can not say that I could recommend this place. What everyone else is saying is true. The property manager Veronica is very nice. With that being said she is under the owner Robert who I have only seen bad things about. He has been charing a rent increase for painting the outside of the building, adding new smoke detectors (required by law) and installing a new elevator. Cheap is the best way I have seen people describe him. He charged us 100 $ for two days of rent in December even though we had moved out by November 27^th. I am currently working on getting that money back. I have to urge you to look at other management owned complexes in the area.

I was a tenant of Nolan and Taft for a little over and year, and my experience could not have been better. Anytime I had a concern or needed something looked at, Dr. Taft was very quick (next day) to handle my concerns or problems. I could not afford the rent any longer, therefore having to leave, but had it not been for that, I would still be a tenant. I do highly recommend Nolan & Taft as they are very professional and very helpful.

Let me start off by saying that I am not an employee and never have been an employee of Nolan and Taft. As a matter of fact, I could not imagine working in this field because I would want to tell people to shut up a lot and you can’t really do that. So yeah, you can trust this review.
Before I officially moved to Los Angeles, I was in search of an apartment. I was moving to LA to get my Masters degree and possible live out there permanently and needed somewhere close to my school in Culver City. By chance I ran across an ad on the Westside Rental site (Now you guys want to talk about scam… why do I have to pay a third party to get reputable apartment listings in Los Angeles? Now that is something people need to raise a funk about.) and I am elated that I found Nolan and Taft. From the first call I was honestly a bit intimidated by the first response I got, but they, especially apartment manager Veronica Anthony, were amazing in making sure that my friends not only had access to the unit more than once, but allowed for them to take pictures, worked with me sending paperwork security payment from Texas without even meeting me, and were understanding that I may not have made enough money on paper, but would pay on time every month– which I did. With a simple signature from my Pops, I was on my way.
Veronica was awesome in explaining the rules to me and California law. She was implicit on me understanding my rights and also how expenditures were different between our states. Because I am a stickler for knowing my own personal rights, I knew everything she was saying was above board. Even when the rent was raised after my lease was up, they still raised it within their allowed amount per rent protection laws. Trust me, I was on it like white on rice when a unit went up for rent because if I saw any discrepancy, I was going to file so that I would not overpay when I did not have to.
The whole time I was there, I never had bugs, if I stated that something needed to be fixed someone was there the next day, the rare time there was a noisy neighbor Veronica handled it immediately, and on a personal note, she was amazing to me and was so supportive of my educational endeavors. Even better, she was protective of me as a renter much like my Mom is protective of me and was so respectful and amazingly sweet to my Mom when she came to visit. There were even a few occasions were friends of mine were looking at moving to LA and she worked with them so well. But even beyond Ms. Veronica, any time I went into the office to pay my rent up early due to a scholarship coming in, they were great about applying my rent and keeping up with if I overpaid anything so that I won’t be overcharged.
If it was not for me moving, I would still be with Nolan Taft. I intentionally waited to write this review to see what would happen with my deposit and I can tell you that I received it yesterday and it was to the penny what I expected to get back per my calculations and it was more than fair. I was not ripped off at all. So, my two cents is that I can’t say what others have experienced is not true, but my experience with the organization with Veronica Anthony was amazing. If I move back to LA at any time, I definitely plan to go through her again.

Updated 4÷30÷13 — Still love my apartment! Bright, sunny, spacious, and quiet. The walls must be rock solid because in the past nine months, I’ve heard my neighbors only two or three times. After living in half a dozen LA apartments with thin-​to-​non-​existent walls, this is by far the best apartment I’ve come across noise-​wise and in other aspects as well. NT Management manages a few different apartment complexes in the Palms/​Culver City area, which has been a great place to live in… 10 minutes from the beach, Santa Monica, Westwood, LAX, and 15 minutes from downtown, unless you get caught in rush hour. There are also lots of restaurants and bars in downtown Culver, and the neighborhood is super residential so you can safely walk around or go for a run any time of day or night. One thing to note: some of the appliances and apartment fixtures may be slightly dated, but everything works with no plumbing or pest issues or anything serious. For me, the apartment, price, location, and huge balcony (spanning the length of both my bedroom and living room) are hard to beat. Overall, I’ve had no problems with NT Management.
One last thing, READ YOUR LEASE. NT Management gives you a lengthy 15 – 20 page lease to sign. I’m a law student and my dad is a real estate attorney so we both go over everything carefully to make sure there are no surprises, but everything you need to know is in there, which I much rather prefer than some of the landlords I’ve had in the past who tried to assert claims that have no basis in California landlord-​tenant law based on skimpy 1 page leases that look like they were printed off the internet.

I was just looking through my old reviews and was pleased to see a plethora of new negative reviews here. Due to a job change, I recently moved out of the place I lived in for the 2.5 years after this one. I got 100% of my security deposit back there. Yeah, so this illegal nonsense about prorating paint and carpet for six years? A huge cleaning fee for an incredibly clean apartment? Do not put up with that bullshit. Also, this is the only place I ever lived in LA, where the owner, Robert Nolan, insisted on doing the post-​move-​out inspection himself. He’s banking cash as both a dentist and a slumlord, yet is nitpicking the final inspection and offering to buy used fridges for next to nothing. Anything for a buck eh?

LET ME BRAKE IT DOWN FOR YA:
1.The «IN GOOD FAITH» rule does NOT apply here. You are being taken advantage of. You are lucky to read this. Please consider it. Mr Nolan has 0 care about his tenants. The apartments are given uninspected. They will charge you for things that you would NOT suspect you should inspect on your own. Make sure you take pictures of EVERYTHING that might be of concern.
2. Cockroaches. Fumigation. STILL COCKROACHES!
3. Maggot infestation! I was told that they can not take care of every little problem, so I should pour bleach in the drain. (the suckers were all over the kitchen floor so that response made no sense and shows how much they care). YOU KIDDIN ME? A landlord should try to understand the source of the problem! But no, they were NOT aware of the large FLY population all around the building! Thank God for google and explaining this plague to me!
4. The kitchen lamp cover (which is large, heavy, and full of bugs) was broken and falling over my head! Their response was to just clip it back! I demanded professional fix as I did not want to pay for some other damage later. Silence.
I work from home, so my kitchen is essential and since no one reacted, I tried to clip it and it broke. The guy came the next day. I was not able to cook or use my kitchen for 3 days. How about some apology or compensation? This would have been an awesome law suite and sometimes I regret it did not really FALL on my head! I still think if I had the extra nerve, I would demand some extra money back from my rent and sue them. But I am sure Mr. Nolan has a better lawyer. People like him always do.
5. The windows were old. Banging noise on a windy day will NOT let you sleep. That goes for pretty much 5 days out of Novemeber, December, and January no sleep! On any other day you might not sleep due to drunk neighbors right under your window. Or you will wake up at 7am with their kids. Or they will wake you up with their trash recycling (yes they live right there! and would separate glass from cans at 5am). Your sleeping habits will depend on someone else, and no, ear plugs wont fix it.
6. The building is advertised with washer and dryer. It’s a hit and miss. My requests for newer or working ones were called unreasonable. They do refund your lost $ 2 but you will lose two hours of your life! Unreasonable? Please. So just use the laundry mat. It is cheaper, faster, and the only inconvenience is that you have to drive yourself there. Sucks for you tho, believing you’d be doing laundry under the same roof.
7.Luela from KMK IS THE MOST INCOMPETENT MANAGER. She sends her husband to write posteds and puts them on tenants doors! She told me that I am probably the one bringing the cockroaches back from the market in my shopping bag. SERIOUSLY?
8. Veronica, the leasing agent, is a bitchin sales woman. Knows very well what she is doing and says she tries her best. May be she does. Her boss is a slumlord, so I am not sure I can trust this. She asked me to write a review within my first month. I felt pressured, given that I had killed two roaches and my laundry was wet that day. She gave me a humbling example how a neighbor of hers had to be fumigated 7 times. Like I was supposed to be OK with that? The hoarder lady next door may be!
9. Windows leaking! They got fixed after my 3^rd complaint (right before the 4^th rain!). There was a puddle every time it rained. The solution was piercing holes into the bottom of the screen of the window! Mr Nolan himself came up with that one.
10. MAKE SURE YOU READ YOUR LEASE! IT IS NOT ONE YEAR LEASE. It is a YEAR and a MONTH (that’s how I lost about 800 of my moneys… again… the gooood faith)
11. Charged $ 40 for two of the window blinds turning sticks! They were never inspected to begin with! It never crossed my mind to check and I have left them exactly as I have found them. I was charged because there was TAPE on them (not sure from what, personally I thought that’s how they were originally). CHECK the TINIEST THING and take pictures or you will be charged!
12. I have used the garbage disposal once. I am not aware if they brake due to low usage. At my last day, it was inspected by Veronica, and was not working. I got charged for it. And I understand. But given all the above I think they should have made a compromise.
If you are a clean, honest, respectful, timely paying tenant: KEEP LOOKING! DON“T GET FOOLED! YOU DESERVE BETTER! OH, aaand your car is really not safe there.

Take your money ELSEWHERE! If only there was a zero rating allowed. By far, the worst SLUMLORD you’ve ever encountered. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the definition of a SLUMLORD. Where ever you may be living now, is far better than what I have been experiencing.
Be warned, Dumb and Dumber… sorry, I mean Nolan and Taft are the biggest incompetent jerks you have ever met. They don’t handle their end of the deal with the repairs but they are on your ass if you are off by a penny with the rent (even though it was their typo).
If you’re going to fork over money for your livelihood, consider it an investment and get a nice place and do your research. Don’t settle with slumlords like these for cheap rent, and even then it’s not that cheap. They’re dentists, they have no clue how to manage a building to save their life.
I was recently acquired by NT and KMK from an old mom/​pop owner who went broke, that’s when all the nightmares began. Rents spiked up. They only worked on the exterior aesthetic of the building, put a huge lie on the building as far as the building features go, and has yet to work on the serious issues that this building has historically experienced. The NT Management sign outside our building makes me laugh because almost 80% of those features are FAKE.
Well, I hope this has geared you from staying away from this joke of an organization. Believe me, my future outlook does not include NT management.

I dont really even want to give them 1 star. I would advise anyone to run far away from any building owned by N.T.!! They are SHADY! they will over charge you for your security deposit, neglect to fix problems in your apartment, and suck as much of your over payed deposit as they can from you. If you do rent from them immediately take pictures of EVERYTHING from every angle!!! they will try to pin previous damage on you. I thought that the place i moved into was perfect but since moving in i 100% regret ever doing business with them. After moving, out me and my roommates were screwed out of $ 4,000. be careful!

THE WORST Management company ever!
As other reviews have said (all of which end up being removed) the landlords and the owner, Robert, completely lack any respect for thier tenants. Maintenance requests are ignored, rent is raised every year, the buildings are in constant filth and disrepair… My landlord even hung up on me! That is completely unacceptable!
One time we were given notice of an inspection and the old landlord showed up drunk at 9:30 at night (they said they would be there between 9am to 5pm) and expected me to let him in! I should have called the police. These people are ridiculous! Thank God I don’t have to deal with them again!!! Any other business would be sued out of existence by now!
If this review gets removed I will keep reposting because people need to be warned!
