This is a hidden gem. My sons are far apart in age, but what’s been fun is that the little one and I can go to storytime at the library(so well done) and the older one can play tennis or basketball with a friend or two. During the week the pool opens at 11AM. The facilities are clean and easy. I must admit I did spot a water bug in the water trap once, but they DO like water. The staff is courteous, and $ 2 per adult with library card and kids free makes for a nice afternoon. The splash area is so fun too for weaker swimmers. There is also a playground behind the pool. We play there after storytime until the pool opens. The parks and rec gym offers not only camps but organized sports. My younger son is having a great experience playing basketball there this summer and winter. Mary Sum is so caring and committed as the Recreation Coordinator

Tomorrow, Labor Day, is the last day that the North Hollywood Community Center pool will be open. Good thing I managed to go for a swim today. Fee is $ 2.00 for adults with an L.A. library card and $ 2.50 for adults without the card. Children are free(at least under a certain age). The coolest thing about the seasonal pool is that there is an amazing set of fountains that spray, jet, and dump water on you. Sorry I didn’t post this sooner in summer of 2009, but you should plan to check out the pool here in summer of 2010.
