O Dae San Korean BBQ

Great place to eat. Love the soups that they serve for breakfast. Great AYCE BBQ. Family friendly atmosphere.

This restaurant is a joke. Worst experience ever. Service was so horrible and meat they brought to us I would not even feed it to my dogs. Had to flag down the waiter several times to ask whf kind of meat it is and asked to change it to another plate of meat. What’s funny is that waiter asking us who bought this meat! At the end when we received our ck they charged one extra person on the bill. No Bueno!

AYCE K-​BBQ is one of the best places you can go to maximize your bang for the buck. This place has surprisingly decent quality meat for the price. I usually opt for the lower end of the menu, i.e. the option with 4 – 5 different meats instead of 12 or so. A few side dishes are served, however much less than some of the other AYCE K-​BBQ restaurants I frequent. They do serve the kimchi pancake, which I love, but quality on this is mediocre at best. It’s also the last side dish to serve; it came halfway through the meal.
Most K-​BBQ restaurants offer the same kind of meat for their «budget» option; brisket, pork belly, marinated beef, and chicken. What really sets a restaurant apart from its competitors in my opinion is the customer service. Unfortunately, this establishment falls substantially short. Only a handful of service staff is on hand at any time, and their roles are not defined. The majority of times I’ve visited, each staff was responsible for busing tables, delivering food, closing out bills, and of course fulfilling requests. They seemed to lose track of what’s going on and who asked for what. Other K-​BBQ restaurants I’ve been to utilize a bell system to notify the staff, which usually led to better response time and response quality. I think this restaurant should follow suit.
Tl;dr food is okay for the price. Service quality is terrible — management really needs to reevaluate this aspect of their business.

This is my go to kbb spot. Come during non peek hours and it’s 4 stars otherwise 2 stars with a million people and crap service. I spend no more than 47 bucks for two people. No soju or hite included. This place can be fun if you bring a group larger than four and get sloshed. At that point you won’t care how busy or shitty the service is. Oh and be nice to the parking lot attendant.

Nice place. Excellent service. The ssamjang didn’t taste like ssamjang but more like a sweet chilli sauce that’s why I removed one star. But overall a must for meat lovers!

The all you can eat is okay. Not the best quality of beef but if you are on a budget this is the place! I went on a weekday at night and service was great! For $ 15 this is what you expect.

Had to grab KBBQ in SoCal — but to my disappointment everywhere else I’ve tried down in LA was and is better than his one. Service was horrible — no one gave us menus when we got seated and it took forever for them to take our orders. When we wanted more, we basically had to stand up and wave down a waiter to help us. I did notice that the elder ladies tend to boss the younger waiters and waitresses around rather than helping customers themselves — if they helped out, the process would have been quicker and service would have probably been better. We had the typical bulgolgi and briskets. They didn’t have soft tofu stew which was also a disappointment. It was around $ 25 per person for a limited menu and poor service. However, while waits were two hours at other kbbq spots, this place had no wait because they had two floors — but we should have took that as a hint to not try ;/

I’ve tried it all in Ktown and in other cities. This place is the GOAT! Greatest Of All Time! Other KBBQ spot owners need to come here and take notes lol.

My girlfriend, friend from out of town and I all got sick after having dinner here last night. We had the cheapest AYCE option. We’re all vomiting this morning. Not cool.

Odaesan used to be a top-​notch KBBQ restaurant, but recent experiences unfortunately lead me to downgrade this restaurant’s star grade (as of Jan. 2016).
First, the food. Odaesan has a serious issue with food sanitation, food quality, and cleanliness. I have seen staff members placing ticket orders on top of the meats, leaving the meats out in the open for minutes after minutes until they serve them to waiting customers, and once touch the meats with their bare hands. The quality of the meats have been going downhill every time I visit this venue. Unfortunately, the food also are not served cleanly, as more often than not I observe meats served on very oily, obviously not well cleaned plates. I was not surprised to see the restaurant that proudly display their A grade health inspection to receive a B grade recently.
Second, the facility. What in the world is going on with the ventilation system? Rule #1 of all exceptional Korean BBQ locations is to have proper ventilation so that customers 1) do not suffocate themselves over the smoke; 2) do not inhale that smoke while eating (which is very unhealthy and dangerous); and 3) do not experience inconvenience with the restaurant atmosphere. One group actually left the venue while I was having dinner because they «felt sick» of the smoke.
Another critical error I observed at the restaurant is the sanitation process. All tables that were supposed to be cleaned up using sprays and wipes are still oily and dirty. Oily surfaces are great locations where bacteria and germs can linger on. God knows what kind of germs are left on these oily surfaces from previous customers sharing, consuming, and perhaps spilling food on the table, especially raw meats. Also, the grills and the «firepit» are absolutely not clean. The grills would come out with bits of meats still stuck on the edges and with burnt marks still everywhere. The firepits are a travesty– it is clear that the restaurant does not frequently clean out the insides of the firepits. If you leave all of the oil and gunk in there and ignite the flames, all future customers are going to have a bit of that left-​over food from who knows how long.
Finally, the staff. I get it– serving a restaurant of this magnitude and size is a demanding job. However, that absolutely does not mean you can give a poor attitude to customers. Whisking away without acknowledging the customers’ orders and just slamming/​shoving the dishes to customers may be a very quick service method, but it’s at the cost of customer satisfaction and comfort of eating at the restaurant you serve. Service was excruciatingly slow, and the restaurant need more staff.
The restaurant requires a serious reflection of their work and service if they are to keep up with the competing KBBQ restaurants in the vicinity.

Food was okay, service was awful.
Got the cheapest dinner option ($ 13.99) which includes 4 meats: brisket, beef belly, pork belly, and chicken. Decent if you go with people who just want brisket. Pork belly and chicken are pretty good too. Note that the steamed egg and leek pancake are limited to 1 per 4 people.
Only the manager was friendly and kept checking up on us. All other waitstaff seemed disgruntled when we asked for more sides. And the one time we asked to change the grill, the waitress had a look of shock on her face. Not sure what’s going on…

O Dae San is definitely on my top 5 go-​to AYCE Korean BBQ spots! I know there’s so many of these on Olympic Blvd. but no place compared when it comes to meat selections, service and quality of the food. I mean, side dishes are never ending and the servers are not stingy when you ask for more meat! The servers here are very welcoming, they greet with huge smiles on their faces as you walk in and you can’t help but be so freakin’ excited to chow down! The main entrance is to the side/​back of the restaurant. coming from their valet parking.
It costs $ 2 and I think it’s worth it better than finding parking around the side streets or residential areas. It’s fairly big and a lot safer! Scratch free and accident free in the parking lot! I wouldn’t risk it especially being in this area.
So right when you enter, I’ve never had to wait over 5 minutes. There’s even an upstairs, hence lots of tables! Smaller parties stay downstairs and bigger ones are seated upstairs. I’ve been seated at both as my friends and I have celebrated a get together at O Dae San! I love coming here because they don’t rush you and they’re so friendly. Feel free to ask the servers to take pictures of your group! So niceeee!
Oooh.they have gift cards available! I’ve purchased them a few times as gifts for friends.
I definitely choose O Dae San over San Ya right around the corner. If you’re going for cheaper though, San Ya ain’t too bad. Service is average.
I would suggest Road to Seoul AYCE KBBQ when in town as well! Just as great as O Dae San!

How can you go to Koreatown and not have kbbq? I almost always visit this place whenever I’m in Cali. I love the fact that there is $ 2 valet parking here because last thing I want to do is finding a place to park in a busy area.
SERVICE
Not so friendly but they are fast. They will occasionally swing by to flip the meat over or cut the meat in small pieces.
FOOD
$ 13.99 AYCE kbbq dinner. Only 4 selections but still a good deal. My favorite has to be their beef brisket and marinated chicken. Portion is on the smaller side but it’s all you can eat so I like to go cray cray with it. Comes with bunch of side dishes like any other Korean bbq place.
CONCLUSION
Fast service and cheap BBQ. I’m a fan!

If you’re looking for fancy… Don’t bother! If you want good and cheap… This is the place. Very good cuts of meat and attentive staff are major pluses… the side dishes are instantly forgettable but again plentiful.
The restaurant itself is just a cluttered hot mess… With an open kitchen and bar area everything is visible… It’s clean but piled with everything from kitchen supplies to newspaper stacked everywhere…
The only objection I found with the place is the poor ventilation… It’s filled smoke from the table grills and my eyes burned the entire meal… No one seems to mind… The place is packed!
So, if you’re willing to leave your weho attitude at home… come hungry and enjoy affordable Korean BBQ… I’ll be back for more!

This ayce for the highest level is $ 24 but you get unlimited meat even if it is the fancy good stuff. I personally hate how other ayce places limit the better meats but o dae San you can truly get the good meats! I really liked their marinated rib eye and service was prompt. They have steamed egg and decent side dishes.
This place is perfect for big parties! I went for a USC club kbbq night and the private room filled about 100 people.

The food was pretty standard kbbq fare, nothing much to complain or rave about. clean and spacious inside, decent banchan and fixings. O dae san is like a proximity pick for your average bbq fix. If a friend wanted to come here i wouldn’t object.
However… the service was a buzz kill, i have to say. Most korean restaurants u can expect servers to be super busy but usually they are polite and somewhat enthusiastic about their work. The servers here acted like their souls had been drained. lol. they all had this look on their faces of utter defeat like they were about to go slash. every single interaction we had with servers, they wouldn’t even say one word, not even like ‘yes’ or ‘no’. it was downright creepy. we’d be like, ‘oh could we please have some more pork belly’ and they wouldnt even look at us, just turn around and leave. bartleby the scrivener anyone? well at least bartleby had the one line.
any case, 3 stars for decent food. who knows, mebe just a bad day.

Good food, actually wanted to go to the KBBQ place close to this. But no parking, so we came here since there was valet parking.

When you got a party of 40, this is the place to go. O Dae San had the ability to seat large parties so take advantage of that, otherwise this place isn’t all too spectacular. Like any other ayce kbbq, the quality of the meat decreases as you go through each plate, the side dishes are great, and there are dipping sauces to mask the not so great quality of the meat.
I view ayce kbbq more as a socializing event rather than a food event. Where else can you be obnoxiously loud while mindlessly stuffing yourself full of meat (unless you’re cooking the meat)?
Regardless, for the price you pay, it is what it is, enjoy good company, maybe a beer, and all you can eat kbbq.

An affordable place to get korean bbq buffet especially at lunch time. Buffet option ranges from $ 12 to $ 25.
I was not impressed with the food here. All the meats i had with the exception of the kalbi was below average. The spicy pork and pancake they offer was one of the worst I ever had; the taste is not what is suppose to be. The side dishes was normal– kimichi, brocolli, and beansprouts. Their rice tea was good though.
The service was inconsistent but they were nice. The restaurant is nice, but you will leave there smelling like korean bbq. i recommend leaving your jacket in the car

Love this place! One of my favorite KBBQ restaurants. The price is decent; ranging from 15 – 25. The area looks ghetto but the inside is spacious and nice.
They have a lot of options for meats depending on the price. The $ 12 option doesn’t have much so it’s better off getting the $ 20 one. Meats are really delicious! I also love the side orders. Make sure you get the steamed eggs! Service was pretty good. They check on you every 5 – 10 minutes.
