PJR has great customer service always finding solutions to major problems. All my cars with minor or major problems I always bring it to Pong. I always leave satisfied and leave with a guaranteed that my car is fixed. I recommend leaving your car early in the morning come back later or the next day because it gets packed.

Simply stated, PJR is reliable, responsive, and responsible. I have had my brake pads changed, new battery installed, shocks repaired, and will continue to bring my car here for future repairs. Additionally, Pong is a very kind man and I trust him to quote me a fair price. He also tries to accommodate customers on the day they call and is very good about communicating updates and changes by phone. I have tried various mechanics around Pasadena (Fuji Auto, etc) but none have been as trustworthy, quick, or fair as PJR. If you are looking for a trustworthy and reliable mechanic, PJR is my recommendation.

Pong was awesome. He diagnosed my problem and quoted me a more than fair price. He also recommended me to a smog shop a few blocks away that took care of my smog certification and paid my registration. One stop shop.

AMAZING MECHANIC !
I got recommended by my GF, this is where all her family brings there cars. So I decided I’ll give it a try, the price was amazing!!!
Left my VW 93 Jetta around 9am to get the timing belt changed and everything else that needs to be changed. I’ve had trouble in the past tryna get this Euro car fixed and its a hassle. Other places wanted to charge me $ 700 for this. With Pong it was $ 400 I couldn’t pass it up. My car was ready by 7! One day!!! Others would have taken days to change it! I will be back with my future cars and even family members cars!!!
He definitely loves what he does because he was really excited to tell me everything he did and how everything is working out.

I showed up at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the place was packed! There were cars on the driveway, on the streets, all waiting to be fixed by Pong & co.
I dropped off my car, and although I was disappointed to find that at 2:30 they still hadn’t checked it, I was thrilled at the end of the day when Pong told me that he had tried a solution and didn’t charge me. He seemed so excited about that prospect of having solved my problem, and said that if everything was okay, to just stop by next week and then pay him for the «high quality air filter» he had replaced mine with. It was so enlightening to see somebody that happy about what he does.
It’s been half a week, and it seems that Pong has indeed fixed my problem that no other mechanic could even see.

I came here today because the check engine light came on in my VW Jetta. Pong was friendly and immediately checked my car and found a hose that had come loose. He fixed it and didn’t charge me anything! I will take my car here next time it needs repairs.

You have to remind yourself: you’re here for expert, friendly auto repair service at a cheap price, nothing else. This place is so ad hoc. Just tell Pong your problem, leave him the key and car for the day, punch your phone# into his phone and that’s it. The driveway sucks as it acts as the car staging area, waiting area, and the only way in an out of the cramped garage that abutts a busy street. Everything is dingy, dirty, and looks disorganized, but your car is expertly repaired. Pong’s dudes repaired my a/​c, buttoned up the bottom cover (a difficult task), and even checked and set/​inflated my tires (required by law but I wasn’t expecting to be done). He even knocked off a few bucks below his original estimate, what a guy! I’ll be back for sure.

Mechanic Pong Jampravit is the best! I walked in on a Saturday afternoon with both headlamps on my Volvo burned out. They were clearly very busy but Pong jumped on the job immediately. You’d think Volvo would make changing the bulbs a little easier but there were several things in the way — air filter, wiring, etc. Pong had it done in 45-​minutes and charged me what I would call a courtesy price — VERY reasonable.
I know this is a small job but I was impressed by Pong’s upbeat attitude and gracious service. Especially walking in without an appointment on a busy Saturday. I would definitely take my car back here for more complicated problems.

I have been going to this shop for 15+ years and had serviced all 7 vehicles I have owned and my dad’s cars as well. I was recommended to Pong through my brother and his friends, and ever since then, I have never gone to any other mechanic. Where can you find an honest mechanic with great customer service? He is a great honest mechanic and very friendly, he will never show any mickey mouse type crap work on your car and will recommend the best parts for a great price. He would also offer me a ride home, even though I would tell him that I can just walk home, which is a 5 minute walk.
Because of Pong, I have to give him a big THANK YOU for all of his awesome work and his staff. Especially, his son who had found a knocking noise on my truck’s front suspension that has been bothering me for almost year and replaced the part (THANK YOU!). If you need a smog test or a place to get your muffler fixed/​replaced. He would tell you where it is and they are both close by. Thanks PONG!(THUMBS UP!)

Pong replaced my O2 sensor and radiator a few months back. Car has been great in his care, so I was shocked as hell to get a failing grade on my smog check yesterday. Took it back to Pong to check over, he fixed something on EGR (no idea what that is) and, as he does, refused any payment until my car passes the retest.
THE NEXT MORNING
My car passed! All A’s and big smiles from the nice man at the smog place. He kept saying, «very good, very good.» My levels are well below the limits and even below the averages. Thank you again, Pong. Will be by with my credit card!

has amazing service but one thing i dont like is that new guy he did my oil change pong usually does it but since he was out this new guy did it and he was messing with my battery for some reason even though i was only there for a oil change all the bolts were out and my battery was loose when i got it back

Been going to Pong for repairs the past 15 years, dating back to when he worked up the street at Budtho. He’s the most honest and friendliest mechanic you can find anywhere. If it doesn’t need fixing, he’ll tell you. If he recommends a repair, you better believe you need it. I’ve been a customer so long he’s even done a couple house calls for me. You just can’t find a more honest mechanic. His prices can’t be beat either.

Since I bought a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, I haven’t been to Pong’s repair shop for over a couple of years now.
At the office today, 07÷02÷09, Thursday, we received a notification that we could leave early after lunch, since tomorrow is the start of a long holiday weekend.
However, I was installing a test equipment in my service vehicle that’s supposed to switch on when the engine is on and turns off when the vehicle is switched off.
It was such a simple task, since I got a vehicle manual which describes the function of the different circuits in the fuse box. I’ve checked out that the rear window wiper operates only when the ignition key is on, so I’ve chosen to use it for the «add-​a-​circuit» fuse adapter.
However, to my dismay, I discover that there’s a voltage even when the ignition switch is off. I’ve tested other fuses on the board, but it appears that everyone of them have power even with the switch off.
Somewhat confused about these fuses, I went over to get the key of another vehicle with a test equipment already installed. It’s the same brand of SUV vehicle, except that it’s a year older. As I’ve expected, the fuses that were supposed to have no power when the ignition key is off, were indeed off, and have voltage only when the ignition key is on.
At this point, I’ve given up and decided just to go home, when I remembered Pong’s shop in Eagle Rock, which is just about 15-​minutes drive from the office.
Luckily, he was still there busy working at his shop. He still remembered when he saw me. «You got a problem with your FJ Cruiser already?»
I told him my problem and without much ado, he came out with a tester, tested each of the fuses in the box, switched the ignition key a couple of times, then told me to used Fuse #41 or #42. It was done in less than 5 minutes.
I took out my corporate card to pay him, but Pong declined any payment, insisting that he didn’t do anything at all!
Where the heck could you find in this whole wide world an honest, nice and good mechanic like Pong???

Trying to find a good and honest mechanic is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Well, thank God, I was referred to Pong Jampravit. This is the first time in all my reviews that I’ve issued a 5-​star rating! Pong is that rare mechanic that is really good, honest, and reasonable. I was referred to Pong when I had to have my radiator replaced, which was right after my warranty expired. Of course, the car dealership quoted me a terribly expensive price. However, through prayer and patience, I was sent to Pong, who quoted me a fraction of what the dealership did.
Honestly, Pong will give you a thorough analysis of your car. If he can’t fix the problem, which is rare, he’ll refer you to another reputable mechanic or auto specialist. I recall once, when my sunroof wouldn’t close and I called Pong. He asked me to bring my car by the shop so he could check out the problem. After Pong’s assessment, he told me he couldn’t fix the sunroof but referred me to a auto body shop that could. Pong prides himself on customer satisfaction, and for that very reason, I’m glad to have Pong as my mechanic and I’m glad to refer others to him. Pong you are much appreciated!

I’m new in town and of course the first thing that happens is my car wonks out on me! I decided to take my car to Pong Jampravit based on the Unilocal reviews and I’m so glad I did.
What a sweet, kind, honest soul he is… plus a great mechanic! The owner was there as well, and he was equally as wonderful. I actually felt kind of heart warmed by the whole experience which is certainly not your usual experience at a car mechanic’s shop! It turns out not much was wrong with my car. Pong looked everything over, made a few adjustments and I was on my way. They didn’t even charge me!!! I will only be taking my car to Pong from now on. A++++++++++++++++
