Polistic Pole Dance and Sexy Pilates

I took several workshops here a few years ago and was recently considering signing up for classes. The reviews below reminded me why I didn’t make a return, but I felt it might be helpful to relay my experience and highlight a few things you may actually enjoy.
The Pros: If they’re still offered, I highly recommend the lap dance and strip tease workshops. I came away from these with ideas and techniques that are easily implemented at home, and accessible for any skill level or body type. I believe it was the strip tease workshop in which each student got a song’s worth of floor time to just let loose and show off moves we had learned. Seeing what other people came up with was great, and I must have done something right because the instructor gave me a pleasantly surprised «WOW!» when I was done. Tip: For strip tease, bring a little duffle bag of clothes you can layer. Things like long gloves or boas are a plus. Not sure I would bother bringing sexy shoes. I remember them being in the way too much.
I really liked the owner/​instructor, Katie. She’s enthusiastic and well-​intentioned in her teachings. While I agree that the classroom is awfully dark and the lack of mirrors is odd, I believe these are all things meant to make women with body issues feel more at ease. You don’t have to be so self conscious if the girl across from you can’t really see you! Mirrors may make some people nervous because they are forced to see something they feel is awkward or unattractive. Mirrors may also be a distraction for the girls who like looking at themselves TOO much. I think adding at least one mirror near a pole would be useful for showing students correct form, but I see the strategy behind no mirrors and it didn’t bother me much.
The Cons: Stretching is important. Getting in the right head space is important. Lying on my back and «feeling my curves» for 30 minutes is not important. at least not to me. I agree with many of the other reviewers in that the intro pole class spends an awful lot of time «getting in touch with your body». I found myself wishing that classes were divided not by skill level (beginner, intermediate, pro), but by comfort level (shy or confident). I can see how the extra time spent embracing one’s form might be beneficial to a woman who lacked confidence in her body. I’m not saying this should be stricken from class altogether. However, as one of seemingly few women who has no problems with confidence or empowerment, this part of class felt like some kind of group self esteem therapy. Self esteem issues are prevalent in women and these issues deserve to be addressed, but I didn’t like being treated as though I obviously had them too. It was the primary reason I never signed up for real classes. If a «body confident» version of class were offered that skipped most of this, I could see myself reconsidering.
The hard sell at the end of class is kind of a bummer, and a bit jarring considering the otherwise nurturing atmosphere. Unfortunately, I think this is just a reality of modern business. Whether you’re buying a mattress or taking pole lessons, they need to get your attention and try to get you to commit to spending some cash. Go in knowing this will be the case and just remember you can always say «Not today, thanks.» You always have a choice.

Not my favorite pole studio. I don’t do pole very often, but I have been to several different ones. This one is too different.
The room is super dark and the concept is about ‘just feel yourself and explore yourself’. While the concept is great, there are a lot of shortages. Such as I cannot see what the instructor is doing while doing the sexy pilates. I cannot see anyone’s face, which I don’t know if it is good or not. There is no mirror, I don’t know how I look like. I tried both the sexy pilates and the pole dance. The sexy pilates has super slow pace. And for the 1 hour pole dance, you spend another 30 min on the floor to relax, and then get onto the pole for another 30 min. But since there were too many people, the learned stuff was simple, yet still I didn’t feel like I can remember it next time due to the lack of practice time. There were only 4 poles.
So overall, this is not my type of studio. I feel I don’t get enough out of my time. If you just wanna relax and feel yourself, then you may like it. But I feel this is too inefficient.

I’m adding to my previous review. Sad that i missed my sexy pilates session today due to traffic. The ladies at Polistic have been so accommodating. They are so caring. I’m definitely gonna keep taking classes here even tho they are expensive. It’s a sanctuary there and the teachers and classmates are so supportive and nurturing. Thank u ladies and i want to apologize for taking up ur time today. Ladies, if u want to work out in a supportive safe environment, this is the place to go!

I was so extremely unhappy with this place that I feel compelled to write this review (I am not usually one to write negative reviews).
I bought the groupon for 10 classes earlier in the year. When I called to schedule, the receptionist (who, by the way, is a sweetheart) told me that I have 2 options that I could either schedule individual pole classes or sign up for a particular group of 10 on a specific day. I decided to sign up for the class that would meet each saturday morning.
I was super excited my first day and even signed up for their pilates before I even went in to take my first class. My series was taught by the owner (Katie, I think is her name). I found her to be a bit disconnected, abrupt and I just felt rushed when I tried asking her a question before the class had began. I just find it funny because these are the type of environments where I feel its most important to make everyone feel welcome and empowered. Thats not the vibe that she gave off.
The class began and honestly, I just wasn’t into it. We closed our eyes, as instructed, and she guided us through movements of just feeling the music and touching ourselves (lol, i just realized how that must sound, but I am sure you get the point). Thats cool for maybe the first 5, 10 min of class, but this went on for the entire duration. At no point did she tell us to open our eyes again or actually show us how to dance (let alone use the pole!!)
When the same thing happened in the second class, I couldn’t find it in myself to return for the 3^rd. It was not what I wanted at all.
After a few weeks, I called the reception and I explained to her that the series was just not working for me and I would love it if I could just use the remainder of my package to attend regular pole classes there (maybe the individuals would be more in line with what I wanted). Her response to me was that she needed to double check with the owner, but she «didn’t see why that would be an issue.» Totally sweet girl.
After speaking to the owner, she called me back to tell me that she is unable to let me use my classes because I signed up for the 10 and just didn’t show up so basically I just lost the pack that I purchased.
Completely unprofessional, unfair and extremely tacky in my book!
Totally low class move and probably the best way EVER to repel someone from ever setting foot into your establishment. Kudos to her if thats what she’s going for.
Don’t recommend at all based on service and quality of classes (though I obviously cant speak for anything except the series set and the sexy pilates which I found ineffective and boring).

If you are looking for a sexual way to meditate, this is a great place. If you are looking to do pole work, you will be disappointed. After a 4 week workshop, you will not learn anything beyond the ground work of a pole 1/​beginner class.
KEEP IN MIND, THE POLES DON’T SPIN!!!
The first half is stretching and sensual awakening movements… Like sexy mat time where you are talked through how to run your hands over your body while doing the basic floor rolls that are most commonly seen at strip clubs. If you are into yoga/​meditation, you may like this. It’s candle lit and very relaxing.
The owner/​instructor informed us that she has no dance, fitness, or pole background. Every other pole studio I have been to is owned and instructed by competitive pole dancers with backgrounds in classical ballet, gymnastics and/​or aerial acrobatics.
The second half of the class, the «pole» half, consists of four basic moves. Two very basic spins (grab the pole, and slide down to the floor), and two stationary moves (lean against the pole, bend over, come up slowly)
Even if you are not a beginner, or you are advancing quickly, she will NOT adjust the class for you. You are instructed to limit yourself to only practicing the 4 basic moves.
After the class, she admits that even if you purchase the 4 week workshop, you will only learn the basic ground work similar to the ones learned in the intro class. You will not learn to climb or invert… the instructor/​owner is clearly a beginner herself.

This place is in obvious trouble and is sadly going down. They are apparently changing the name, website and adding a bunch of classes that have NOTHING to do with pole dancing. The owner’s pushy and pathetic attempt to sell screamed «I’m desperate, please buy something, anything».
What to expect: After signing a waiver, you enter a small dark room with 4 poles. The instructor starts off by telling you about her life and how she came in to the world of the pole. You will spend about 30 minutes on the floor and then learn a few tricks on the pole with 1 chance (you will have to share the pole if there are more than 4 people in class) to try the trick out for yourself. She will then make you sit down and watch her, as she shows off her skills. You get 1 song to try a few of the tricks on one of the 4 poles, that are supposed to be shared with the rest of the people in the class. I didn’t even get a chance to try anything out because the person I was with didn’t know we were supposed to be sharing the pole for the 1 and only song. Overall, I got about 5 – 8 minutes of pole time in a 1.5 hour pole class. Lame and NOT what I payed for.
She sits you down after the class, and just assumes that everyone loved the class and wants to buy packages that are more than the price of luxurious gyms that offer pilates, yoga, cycling, swimming pools, saunas, and pole dancing classes and more. 4 classes for $ 150 !!! Oh and they are only offered once a week at a designated time. I could hire a personal pole dancing instructor for that amount of money.
To wrap it up, If I had 15 minutes to hear about someone else’s life, I’d be calling my mother. A simple «Hello, I’m so and so and I’ve been doing this for this many years and am excited to share my passion with you» would have been sufficient.
We spent about 30 minutes on the floor doing «sensual» movements and touching ourselves. Although I wasn’t there for that and was really more interested in doing things on the pole, I embraced it and reminded myself to live in the moment.
I didn’t appreciate spending the time I payed for, watching her dance. I’ve already seen all that and have youtubed a bunch of videos of pole dancers. If I wanted to watch another girl pole dance, I would have stayed home on my computer or better yet used my money to go see the real thing. I came to learn how to work that pole myself!
The overselling was beyond pathetic. I actually started feeling bad for her. I told her I needed to look at my schedule an get back to her and 3 minutes later she asked me again about what package I wanted to buy. She then tried to sell an XL shorts to my friend when she was looking for a medium. Since all the mediums were out, she came up with an elaborate story as to why XL is sometimes great to wear too. She would have had just as detailed of a story for any size she still had in stock.
Katie, I know you’re gonna read this so here is some constructive criticism. Your strategy is tacky and is obviously NOT working. You seem like a hypocrite speaking about finding our own paths and then trying to pressure young girls into buying something they just aren’t sure about. It seems like your clients have just become $doller signs$ to you and that type of energy is easily picked up. Stop being pushy and overbearing because you will only get more and more of these types of reviews.

So I got the unlimited pole classes for a month at polistic through living social. Classes are offered three times a week. Class is 1.5 hours long… the first good 30 minutes is focus on floor work and stretching… I lowkey gained some confidence and moves through this portion of class. lol. The rest of the time is just learning basic poling. The room is pretty small with 4 poles, so most of the time, I’d have to share a pole. I don’t think I learned enough during my time here at this studio. Why? The class had mixed levels of students (meaning there’s some beginners, intermediates, and experts), super dim lights, no mirrors, and not enough poles. I’m probably a beginner so i was taught only a couple of spins and whatnot. yeah. not very fun. And during every class, we were again, taught the same ol spins. I suppose the instructor noticed that I can do the spins, and tried to add a lil something diff to it. I was never taught to do any tricks or climbed the pole.yeah.sadness. :(I went back to my old studio and was literally taught how to invert, butterfly trick, and climbed the pole, in one inversion class. In my defense, I did ask to learn how to invert, but the instructor never came around to spot me, or maybe she thought I wasn’t ready? Idk. Not too impress with this studio. :\

I HOPE THEY READ THIS!
I came for the pilates class, and really enjoyed it. I made the mistake of signing up for membership ($ 150/​mo, 2 month minimum, unlimited classes) after just 2 classes. I have only been coming here for a couple weeks, and i try to come to class everyday.
One morning, the instructor and other students and i were all waiting outside because the receptionist didn’t show and we couldn’t get in. We were waiting for the owner to call the instructor back and give her the code to unlock the door. We waited about 15 mins then the instructor called the class off.
If you’re in their system you can register for classes online. I signed up to come to the 6:30 class and stay for the 7:30 class after. I get there and the receptionist says «Oh, we took the 6:30 class off the schedule» Hmmm… ok, well maybe you should actually update the schedule then so that people don’t sign up for cancelled classes.
This morning was strike 3. I signed up for the 9:30am class last night, get there this morning and the door is locked. The receptionist opens it for me only to say «class was cancelled this morning» OK. Now I’ve had it. You need to CALL YOUR CLIENTS and let them KNOW so they don’t show up! Like really! How hard is it???
Very unprofessional. This totally unacceptable and i will be cancelling my membership asap, which is really a shame because I actually wanted to continue giving them my money to take pilates. If i were rating just the class itself it would be 5 stars, but because they don’t know how to run a business i can only give them 1

My friend and I came here a couple months ago to try their pole dancing class via a Living Social deal. I don’t understand why all the bad reviews. The classes are excellent, especially the sexy pilates classes. I toned up pretty quickly and still think about going back but I can’t afford to pay for even their monthly deal — $ 149/​month. With the Living Social deal we paid an extra $ 50 for a month’s worth of sexy pilates classes and it was so worth it. It came out to being about $ 5 a class with the amount of classes I attended. I love how dark it is in the class, the only light radiating from a few candles. It eases everyone’s self conscious nature and you let your body just move. A great workout!
A couple reasons I don’t give this 5 stars:
— there aren’t enough classes to choose from time-​wise
— classes fill up quick so if you don’t get in you lose out and you’re still technically paying for it if you pay monthly dues (this only happened to me once)
I wish I could afford to go back…

Hmm where to begin.
First and foremost. I came to Polistic through a living social deal. I had called a few times and no one ever called me back. Just happened to keep calling until I got someone.
They require you take an intro class which is an hour and ½ but went for almost 2 hours because the owner insisted on trying to up-​sell us into other packets. The deal was for unlimited pole dancing classes but what we were told for the intro class was that we actually only get unlimited beginning pole dancing classes. A lot of people in the class and on Unilocal were extremely turned off by how aggressive the owner was about trying to get you to upgrade. I’m also assuming a lot of people in my class were also turned off as I never saw any of them again. I didn’t think it was a big deal but after reading all of the negative feedback that people have left I don’t understand why the owner would continue using the same approach when it obviously bothers so many people so much.
My issue with Polistic is that the schedule is EXTREMELY limited. There is a 1:30 Sunday class which I cannot take, 6pm/8:30 Beginning class on Monday, 8:30pm class on Thursday. That’s it! So that was a bit inconvenient. Not to mention that there are only 4 poles which from what I understand is not standard for most pole dancing classes but I wouldn’t know.
The room is very small and dark. The music is extremely loud so its hard to hear what is going on especially when you don’t really know what you are doing. The two instructors I had were very nice.
Overall, I didn’t find the classes to be as intriguing as I thought pole dancing classes would be. Like I said it was extremely hard to hear the most challenging part of the class was being on the pole and although it was exciting to see how far the teachers had come and the fancy tricks they could do, I didn’t feel like there was enough pole time and feedback for me to progress to their level.

Yesterday was my second day at Polistic and I love it! The first day was my intro. WE had champagne before our class, which I though was really cool:) The class started at 8:30pm and ended at 10:00pm. The intro, was THE intro. We didn’t do as much but I was OK with it because I really didn’t expect to do the most anyway. The dark room with loud music and candles really helped and made it very sexy and relaxing. The instructors play all the right music to get you in the zone. I really like how they make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Now to the good part. I went yesterday for a full hour of sexy Pilates. My god! Now, that’s what I call a good workout. Bare in mind that this is still SEXY Pilates. All of the movements and exercises are all very sensual, slow, and tough. But the good kind of tough. I felt every important part of my body burn. My obliges, my abs, my thighs, my calves, and my butt. It was awesome! I intend to be very flexible and in better shape by coming here as much as possible.
I was a bit surprised to see all the negative reviews because, truthfully, everyone here is friendly and professional. I had bought my unlimited Pilate’s/pole dance membership for 1 month prior to coming here so I kind of came blindfolded. I was not disappointed and yes, I do look forward to coming back again. The instructors are great, the girls in the front are great. I already referred one of my co workers and she’s looking forward to starting her classes soon:)
Today I’m extremely sore and I LOVE IT:) I’d definitely recommend this place to all my girl friends.

So I bought a month of «unlimited» classes at Polistic, expecting that I could try a variety of classes and really get a feel for pole dancing and their establishment. Wrong. Unlimited doesn’t include their sexy pilates, only pole dancing. But then I find out the only pole dancing class I can take (after the intro class) is beginner pole dancing, which is only offered 3 times a week, on Sunday afternoon, Monday evening or Thursday night. Everything else they offer is advanced, or private lessons. I’ve gone twice and it was enough for me to know that this is not the place for me.
It is a 90 minute class, but I think you are doing pole tricks, the whole reason I signed up for it in the first place, for maybe about a half hour. The rest is stretching, yoga poses, and crawling on the floor. Not even kidding. I’ve done pole dancing classes in Vegas and it was WAY more fun and shall we say «educational». The no mirrors is annoying and they only have 4 poles. you end up going to the poles in groups or having a «partner» aka you don’t get your own pole.

I literally just came from this place. I wanted to try it because pole looks sexy and fun… and lets face it, we ALL want to feel sexy. I am also a martial artist, and pole is completely different from the way I am used to moving my body.
I took the intro class, and was greeted by a nice young lady who gave me a champagne while I waited for the current class to let out. For some reason, I asked how many were going to be in my class, and I was told 7. There ended up being 10. We all get into the studio, which is very small with only 4 poles. It was also VERY dark inside, with only candle light. Sexy at home. Not so sexy if Iam trying to see the instructor, with 9 other bodies blocking the view. After introductions, we went into a thirty min sexy type stretch, which in my opinion is waaaay too long. Pole tricks only lasted about 15 mins, which when 3 girls are taking turns on one pole, is only 5 mins each.
The instructor was sweet, and did an incredible dance tease for us at the end… and then it was like someone stripped the needle off the record, and sexy had another appointment and left the room! THE HAAAARD SELL RUINED IT!!!
The lights came on, and we were kinda forced to sit down again and go over pricing/​plans, and living social deals (which i didn’t have) I just wanted to try a new thing for fun. The plans are very pricey. I didn’t stay long after the sales pitch claws came out. I mean, if I weren’t interested, I wouldn’t be there right? They killed it with the sell sell sell vibe. I just wanted to grab my purse, and head for the hills, which is EXACTLY what I did.
Learn this trick Polistic: You get more flies with honey… not vinegar. Also, bring the lights up a bit, and dont make the music soooo loud. Its hard to hear & see the intructor.

Polistics has it going on with SEXY PILATES. The instructors are great… and very creative… all the people that take the clases are havig a great time and seem to have been going for awhile. I have never taken pilates before because it looked to tecious… this way is very effective, fun and the time flys by. I feel more connected to my heart and soul as a woman after the class. Why even a little buzzzed. They keep the lights low, candles burning no mirrors so you dont feel like you need to compete and the music is such an experience. Each teacher really has her own style. It seems like a bit of old school floor exercise meets yoga… then throw in a bit of bump and grind.
Usually in a group of all women it can get ugly… not here!

Like most of the other reviews on here, a friend and I bought the Groupon deal and hit this place up for the intro class. Our instructor was super friendly, energetic and encouraging no matter how ridiculous I felt like I probably looked trying to spin around the pole. I could tell she really wanted all of us to feel good about ourselves, and I sure did by the end. It helps that they don’t have any mirrors in the studio, so I couldn’t stare at myself and focus on all the things I was doing «wrong.» Instead, it was all about having a good time and feeling awesome.
The champagne pre-​class was a definite plus as well. ;-)
It WAS a little bit confusing trying to set up our class. We RSVP’d through the form on their website like it said to about two weeks before the date/​time we wanted, but we never heard anything back. When we tried to go, we weren’t on the list and the class was full. But the girl behind the receptionist’s desk was very nice and scheduled us for another class a couple of weeks later, so it all worked out in the end. But I’d say be extra sure that you talk to someone and confirm that you are in the class you want!
Some other ladies have complained about the hard sell at the end, but it really wasn’t any more than I would have expected. They showed us all their price list for various classes and encouraged us to sign up, but there wasn’t any pressure and it didn’t last longer than maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Maybe the instructor I got was less focused on the sale, or maybe it just doesn’t bother me as much, but it really didn’t feel like a big deal.
I’m seriously considering signing up for regular classes, and/​or possibly for their sexy Pilates. Because, seriously, I felt SEXY at the end. And it was FUN, which is more than I can say for most exercise classes I’ve attended, where I’m silently staring at the clock and wishing to end it all.

I’m the type who would like to try everything at least once, and I’ve always been curious about pole dancing. Dancing in general is one of my favorite things to do. I was slightly hesitant with Pole Dancing though because I was under the impression that I would be surrounded by overly pretentious women that think they are «Ms. Perfect Queen Bees». On the contrary, the group I was scheduled with (5 other women) seemed humble and down-​to-​earth. I specifically enjoyed the smaller group as the room was quite small and the pole to dancer ratio came out better.
Scheduling:
It is difficult to get a hold of someone on the phone initially. I realized why when I was already there for my appointment. They have one young girl as a receptionist, with one phone that is probably just one line. The receptionist is the greeter, the cashier, the scheduler, server of refreshements, etc. It looks like each call she receives she does not rush the caller off the line just because she has other things to do –w/​c is why when most people call they reach a recording. However, once I was able to make my appointment they have a good system of following up with you to confirm your attendance. I am also grateful that they allowed me to cancel the same day of my reservation when I came down with the flu the night before, and they easily rescheduled me the following week. That is good customer service in my book.
Intro to Pole Dancing Class:
I 110% agree with everyone that mentioned the instructor being a Hard Sell. It was quite a turn off. Ironically, at the end of her last 40-​minute sales schpiel, she says «I am not a hard sell at all, but if you sign up now for a 2-​month membership I will throw in a free 30 minute _​_​_​.» I like having time to digest what I’m getting into, especially if it’s commiting to 2 months of at least $ 99/​mo.
Let’s back track to the beginning of the class. The 45-​yr old instructor was talkative from the get go. As in she talked a whoooole LOT! I appreciated the background info though; it made me feel at ease in this new environment. But she could use to tone it down a bit rather than talking us to death about her daughter, her life, etc. It cut down from useful pole time, w/​c was what I was there for. She also gave me a hippy-​dippy vibe with her «Feeling your body» schpiel. In all fairness, she was highly skilled and entertaining to watch once she showed us her pole & floor routine. Unfortunately, between the lenghty introduction of herself and her sales pitching, the most important aspect of why so many of us opted to try this intro was lost in the mix. Total Pole Time = 15 minutes out of 90 mins. class time.
Location:
No parking unless you go across the street to Bed, Bath and Beyond/​Aaron Brothers and cross the super busy Ventura Blvd. Store front is quaint and easy to miss. They have a lot of cute merchandise to look at while you wait for your class time to commence. Studio itself is petite, dimly lit with only candles, hardwood floors, only 4 poles and no mirrors. It can get fairly warm in there with even just 7 bodies. Food for thought for the owner: I think I would have preferred to have a mirror to see how well I was executing the tricks…
The question is, would I come back? If it were to their regular prices and a yackety instructor, more than likely NOT. If I want to spend that much money, I may as well purchase my own pole and do it in the comfort of my own home with instructional videos. If I happend to come across another groupon/​living social deal $ 15 or less? — MAYBE. And only IF I can get a different instructor that does not over «share» and over «sell».

This might be a perfect fit for someone else, and maybe I just didn’t know what I was getting myself into. But I did experience the «hard sell» thing, which was really off-​putting and made me all but run out of there.
I’ve been looking for another kind of consistent fitness class to pair with a regular yoga practice. There’s not a lot of affordable pilates in the Valley, so I thought I’d give «sexy pilates» a shot — sounded like fun.
Although I did feel a bit of a burn, the emphasis here is on sexy. Lights OFF, a lot of sensual language… again, maybe my fault for not exploring the fine print of this class.
Anyway, haven’t tried the pole thing here, but likely won’t due to being severely pressured to buy a class package right away. I get that times are tough, but I don’t dig places that try to lock you in so hard on the first day.

I fully understand that I took an «intro» class, and I also get that I didn’t pay full price (purchased a $ 40.00 class for $ 20.00 at the Pasadena Bridal Fair), but seriously, I still paid $ 20.00 for literally 15 minutes of pole dancing and an absurdly long sales pitch. It was a complete trap… and I am very dissapointed.
Yes, you get a glass of champagne (which was nice, as I was quite nervous), and yes, the décor and vibe of the place is lovely (no mirrors, so you don’t feel tempted to watch yourself), and our dance instructor Ametra (sp?) was very talented.
The first 30 minutes of the class is a complete breakdown of the instructors life story and how Polistics basically saved her life. We then spend the next 30 minutes doing a «sensual stretching», which made me feel my most unsexy ever (you definitely need ab muscles, of which I have none). Next we spend (no joke) 15 minutes learning 4 moves on the pole, of which there were only four poles and eight girls (meaning we only got half the time on the pole each). Then we all get to crowd into two chairs and watch the instructor do a 5 – 6 minutes pole dance. After all that (or lack of all that) we get bombarded with the 30+ minute harassment into purchasing a monthly membership.
In the end, I spent $ 20.00 on an «Intro To Pole Dancing» class of which there was almost no pole dancing. I hope that the owners and employees of Polistics are reading this: please take this not so subtle hint, IT DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR YOUR COMPANY, NOR DOES IT MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO FORK OVER A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY PER MONTH, IF YOU TAKE AN HOUR OUT OF A 90 MINUTE CLASS TO SELL! For a company that seems to pride itself on being tactful and classy, this was one of the most tacky and classless things you could have done.
I know that this review is way too long, and I am rambling, and that it makes me sounds really mean, but I truly feel that it was a complete waste of $ 20.00.

I guess I’ll have to figure out another way to pay for law school, because I appear to lack the skills to master the pole. Mind you, it was only an intro class, but I think I’d be better off trying out my aspirations as a bike messenger.
Let me say that I really enjoyed the class. It was small and cozy, the rest of the girls were friendly, and they managed to really create an open and inviting atmosphere right from the start. The dimmed room, music, and candles all added to the mood and made me at home with my feminine self.
I had a difficult time relaxing and learning to slow down my movements, but I think those are things I need to work on anyway. Maybe I should have come for a sexy pilates class, because I was craving a bit more muscle burn. The pole part was fun, but tricky.
I can see why people would get addicted to this «movement,» and I kind of wish I had taken the class when I was still in my teens. That sounds crazy, I know, but you accumulate so many body image perceptions throughout the years and it would be nice to find people so embracing of the different shapes and looks of «sexy» before issues pile up. That part of the class was very refreshing.
What wasn’t refreshing? Like others have said, the hard-​sell at the end was a turn off. It almost felt like you couldn’t leave without signing up for a membership. And no matter how much I like their message, I’m not paying $ 200+ a month and driving all the way out to Studio City multiple times a week to hear it. (Nothing personal, I just really hate traffic, so I stay west of the 405 if I can help it, with DTLA as the exception)

I love this place!!! This was my first time attending any kind of pole dancing class and I must say that it was SUPER FUN!!! First of all, the owner Katie is really friendly and into every person being exactly who you are and being proud of who you are. She is very into expressing your inner beauty & sexiness and encourages everyone to embrace themselves and her individuality. Katie was very encouraging the entire time and made me feel comfortable in a place where you could easily feel out of the place.
Now I don’t know how other studios are run, but at Polistic there are only 4 poles in the room, there are no mirrors and the lights are dimmed. The room is mainly lit by various candles around the room with «sexy» music loudly playing in the background.
In the Intro class we did half sexy pilates & half pole tricks. I really like this place because since it’s dark I can really let it all out without feeling embarrassed or being judged by other people in the room. It definitely makes everything more sensual and more comforting. The pole tricks were my favorite part – of course!!! We learned a spin and boy does that take some muscle strength!!! We also learned other various moves on the pole.
I’m definitely planning on coming back with my girlfriends once I figure out my schedule!!!
