Rewind Audio

I sold them some extra equipment and speakers I had at a fair price, The place was really busy when I was there also, so the word is out on them. Parking not so good and the store is a lot smaller than the pictures lead you to believe.

This review is based off of customer service alone, as I did not end up buying anything.
I walked in to Rewind Audio and Jen was one of the most helpful people I have ever met. She helped me trouble shoot my issue, even though repairs isn’t something they do any longer. She even went out of her way to call her husband for some extra info.
After realizing that it would not be a simple fix for my issue, she proceeded to recommend and give directions to other shops that might work. This is amazing. As a business, to know that you can recommend another business and not ruin a relationship with a customer is the best you can hope for. If ever I was in need of purchasing amazing audio equipment from amazing people I would come here.
If you are ever in the market for Vintage Audio equipment, do yourself a favor and come here. You will know that you’re getting an honest business selling you a great product.

They no longer do repairs!!! The guy was still very helpful and redirected me to locations where can buy the missing part that I needed. He also helped me fix one of my record players. Apparently the band had slipped off and he was quick to help me with that! Very generous! Next time I go, I will buy a new record player, the options are incredible and worth it!

If you’re looking for vintage audio equipment… It doesn’t get much better than Rewind Audio.
Rewind has it all: turntables, speakers, receivers, speakers, headphones and old stereos.
Oscar, the owner, is great. From the moment I walked in, my needs were taken care of and all my questions were answered. The guy knows his stuff in a serious kind of way.
Nothing at a Rewind is cheap– in fact, it’s pretty darn expensive. If you’ve never bought a turntable, don’t come here. You won’t walk out of here two hundred dollars out and ready to play your records. However, if you care about your vinyl collection and are willing to drop a bit of money and want something to show off, Rewind is the perfect place.
Rewind also buys stuff too. If you have stuff, bring it in!
A word to the wise: if you see something you like, buy it right away. Stuff has the tendency to turn over quick here. It might be gone, even tomorrow.
In all honesty, if you wanted to drive around the country and dig at thrift stores and estate sales long enough you’d probably find some of the stuff that pops up at Rewind and at *much* lower prices. Here’s the difference: everything at Rewind has been beautifully repaired and replaced with parts by someone who knows what they’re doing, is in great cosmetic condition and most importantly, has a place to go when something goes awry. Sure, there’s a premium but from my experience in doing both… It’s well worth it. All four purchases I’ve made from Rewind have had no issues amidst lots of use as well as move across the country.

I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day for years. I just purchased a vintage turntable… and heard music for the first time in a long time. I went to this amazing store and bought the first ever marble turntable I’ve ever seen in my life. Yes it was a bit of a splurge. But the way this music sounds is worth every single penny. A turntable like this is something I have never seen before in my life. And to walk into Rewind Audio and then walk out with this rare piece of musical magic is truly an awesome experience. I would write a longer review but I’m too busy listening to records, having a glass of wine, and enjoying the summer evening. Like never before! Can’t thank you enough Rewind Audio!

Great place. Called ahead of time, was told that they were open and that I could bring my own records down for testing. Tested a few pairs of speakers and a couple of different turntables and ended up walking out with a great pair of speakers that suit my apartment. A must for anybody in the LA area looking for a reliable supplier of vintage audio equipment.

Closed — we utilized their services many times, and they always did a great job!
Only found out they were closed when I swung by to bring an amp in for repair.
I’m really hoping it is only a temporary close, it was a very special place.

I feel obliged to temper some of these reviews. I left a turntable and cassette deck in for repair. and two months later the record player is repaired and I am getting my cassette deck back not repaired. I am not comfortable with how they store equipment while they have it. Everything is just bunched up together and I like my audio gear to be treated with a little more care to avoid chipping and wear. Oscar is a nice person but I was very disappointed that they took so long and then just told me they would not be fixing my cassette deck after having told me it would be fixed. These things happen but I will not be bringing back my business.

I love Rewind Audio! I needed headphones for video editing, so I really needed something that had great sound quality and also cancelled noise. I’d recently visited the apple store and found many options that were crazy expensive and I couldn’t listen to any of them. But at Rewind, Jen let me listen to every pair of headphones they had and helped me take the time to decide what would be best. I bought a pair of noise canceling Bose headphones that not only sound great, are comfy for prolonged wearing, but they also drown out my 5 year old which is a feat in itself. Plus, I didn’t have to break the bank to get them. They are a super quality product, for a reasonable price, plus the kindness, fun and customer service that I experienced was unparalleled and something that is truly rare these days! I will most definitely be going back for all of my audio needs!

I stopped by late 2010 to have the needle in my record player balanced and they fixed it for a low cost! I stopped by today and great customer service again! Although they do not do repairs anymore, I am grateful for their small business excellent services (I.e., they sell vintage audio equipment). Jen and Oscar and wonderful!!!

I have wanted to jump into the vintage stereo arena for some time now, and had learned about Rewind from someone at a flea market. I had almost taken the drive over to Echo Park many times, but finally did today. I pulled up and saw a CLOSED sign. But, Oscar was inside and invited me in.
What a great place, and what an amazing experience I had jumping back into vintage electronics. I was in the market for a vintage integrated amp and some great speakers, and Rewind had many options for me. Oscar played every combo of amp/​speakers that I wanted to hear, until I decided on and 70’s Sansui with a pair of Spica speakers w/​stands from the 80’s. They’ll join my old Rega turntable that’s been boxed for years.
Rewind, and Oscar, are definitely worth the trip, no matter where you are in the LA area.

Jen and Oscar exceeded my expectations. We dropped in Thursday and had a complete system at our home by Friday afternoon. Fair price, nice people.

I dont know if they are any good. Went to their store to have my turntable repaired and they have a three month waiting list. They are not accepting any more repairs at this time. While I appreciate the honesty, maybe they need to hire some help. Got mine fixed elsewhere. Too bad, seemed like a cool little shop.

This place is a gem. They seem to be a family run place with a really warm and great attitude. They did their best to fix my Technics linear drive turntable from the 90s, and even though they didn’t succeed they returned my money with a smile. Thanks, guys! And when my son’s new Sony turntable needed a new drive belt, they fixed him up in minutes. You’ll love this place; they really are something special.
One note: Call before you go, because once I showed up and they were out in the field searching for new equipment or some such.

Took my subwoofer here to get it repaired. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. They have all those record players and speakers for those that appreciate that vinyl sound. The customer service had a real apple store feel complete with an emailed receipt a good email audit trail for follow up and engagement.
My subwoofer works great. Good as new. I would come back here again. Great service.

I was gone for the summer and had most of my stuff in storage, including my record player and vinyl collection. When I came back my record player was not working! It sounded like a horror movie prop– the speed seemed to fluctuate enough to cause a major 2^nd rise and fall in everything that I played, it was just the worst. I did some light Unilocaling and found Rewind for record player repair. They were pretty easy to get in touch with and Oscar explained that if I was able to drop the record player off when he was there he could take a look and give an estimate before giving a deposit (Just $ 30, but hey I’m broke). One month later, lo and behold my baby is back in action! I’m so relieved that it was just the belt and not all of my records being warped.
Minus one star because he gave me an estimate of 7 – 10 days, didn’t hear from them for almost a month, tried asking and was told I’d be called back later that night, never was, and had to keep calling to be told it was ready. I don’t normally bug repair people but I had the impression this would be a quick fix. In any case they only charged me the initial $ 30 and it’s playing like new again. Thanks Rewind Audio!

My experience at Rewind Audio was excellent! Oscar and Jen were super nice and knowledgable about record players and helped me to pick a great used record player and vintage sound system. Everything was very reasonably priced.
A lot of times when you go into vinyl shops or other specialty stores (bike shops particularly, ahem), the employees tend to launch into technical jargon and are really snobby and intimidating. Or, if you go to the corporate chains like Best Buy, you’ll get an anxiety attack trying to choose between the endless variety of fancy new things with thousands of features you don’t actually want or need. Rewind Audio is a great old-​fashioned, slow-​paced, family-​run, down-​to-​earth place, and I’ll definitely be visiting again in the future.

I came here to get my vintage record player fixed after looking at the great reviews on Unilocal.I’m glad I did because right when I walked in and talked to Oscar I felt that he was very knowledgable and experienced with any audio equipment. He answered all my questions and was very friendly. I dropped off my record player and picked up a little over a week later. I was happy to see that my record player was fully functional and he told me everything that was wrong with it. I will definitely be back if My turntable needs repairs or if I need any other audio equipment.
The only thing that you should look out for is their store hours because They are kind of weird. And also ask an estimate on how long it will take for any repairs.

I walked in on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon and the younger sister of the owner quickly and expertly fixed what was wrong with the record player and then I spoke to the owner about different speaker options. This was my first experience buying speakers (and owning a record player, for that matter) so I really appreciated how nice they were and all of the helpful information they provided me about how to work everything.
When my car’s meter was about to run out I turned and asked my friend if she minded going out to put more money in the meter– almost immediately the owner started digging around in his pockets for quarters to offer me!
The people at Rewind are both knowledgeable and very friendly– I would go back anytime!
