I came in for a cleaning and then ended up with my DREAM smile.
Their team is impeccable and made my smile happen in miracle time. I wanted my teeth perfect for a huge event in the Philippines, and they exceeded my expectations with my results.
I don’t even know where to begin.
Dr. Gershfeld is always easy to talk to and communicate my dental goals to. Carla is the sweetest and always makes my dental plan and expenses easy to understand.
On top of being an supportive team, Dr. G’s eye for perfection is amazing. And on top of that I never feel a thing. His injections are barely even felt. He has light hands and it always feels like every procedure is a little one because he’s quick and makes it seem painless.
I’ve had 16 teeth worked on and they made it happen in record time. Carla is amazing with communicating what and when I need work done and is great with follow up. After every procedure is done. Carrick makes sure to sit by me and listen to any concerns I have. I’m very particular so if there’s anything that I am concerned about they are very attentive to it.
I have already recommended them to my friends and family because I trust them with my smile and they deliver.
I’m always complimented on my smile and I have the Dr. Gershfeld team to thank!!!

Nothing too awful happened, but I’m just not impressed.
On each of my 3 visits he used a different anesthetic. Now, I had told him I have trouble getting numb. The first time everything was great, whatever he used worked well and lasted. The second time, he used an anesthetic with epinephrine in it and I was shaking and nauseous the rest of the visit. The third, he used a weaker anesthetic that wore off toward the end of the procedure and it seemed like he didn’t believe me when I told him I could feel pain.
My crown was almost completely done by a dental assistant, which might explain why it doesn’t fit exactly right. I’m not sure if this is normal, but the shaping to fit it in was almost all done on the bottom tooth — an actual tooth, not the crown. I’m not a dentist but it seems like grinding down healthy tooth isn’t how you should do that.
He also canceled 2 of my appointments so I wasn’t able to finish all the work I needed before the end of the year. I won’t be back, and not just because I no longer have dental insurance.

I just want to thank Dr. Roger Gershfeld for being very patient with me because I have been scared of dentists for as long as I can remember. He does great work and I recommend him if you want someone who is caring, gentle, and knows what there doing to work in your mouth. I am also afraid of needles but his shots are painless and I felt no discomfort throughout operation. I have tried several dental offices and this has been my best experience. The staff there is great! They are all professional and caring individuals that greet you with a smile.

Dr. Gershfeld’s office has been a great experience for me. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted well, explained my treatment properly, and the actual treatment was easy. I will continue to be a patient here for as long as I am in the LA area.

I had the worst experience ever yesterday with this dentists staff. I flew into Los Angeles to get my crown placed and the office cancelled on me just over an hour before the scheduled appointment time. I came in to figure out how we can move forward as my flight leaving was in a few hours. The girl I spoke with was incredibly rude. I had changed my previous appointment with twenty days notice and she accused me of playing games with the office. I asked if I could buy the crown and get it done elsewhere (since I wont be in California) and she told me they cant do that. I am so angry. They are holding my crown hostage which I already paid for half the procedure previously when they did the temporary. I will not step foot in this office again. They are rude, time wasters. I am incredibly angry. Incredibly angry.

Like probably most people, I never liked going to the dentist. That is until I met This dentist 5 years ago when i was referred to him … His gentle considerate and informative approach significantly lowers my anxiety while in the chair. I really like that he verbalizes each step and constantly asks how the patient is doing. His assistants are always very attentive and professional, and front office staff are pleasant and accommodating.
If you are reading all these reviews to decide if you want to go to this dentist, then know that he is the most honest dentist I have ever been to, and I’ve been to quite a few. We may sometimes forget the role we play in our own health so let’s not blame our length of treatment and recovery on the dentist.

Okay bad business.
When I made my appointment with this place the girl on the phone asked me who was I insured with and she made an appt. for me. I guess they are hurting for business because she texted me five times and called me to make sure that I was going to keep my appt. So I take time off of work to go there and just before the dentist was starting to work on me a girl bust into the room telling me that they do not take my insurance and quoted me a price for the service that I came there for. I was livid. After all of the follow-​up calls she did not ever confirm my insurance. I gave her the information during me first call. When I confronted her she gave me the sorry I don’t know who you talked to. SAD, because it was her. Read the other Unilocal and make a decision for yourself, I say stay away! Far AWAY. This is the only dentist office with no one in the waiting room… should have caught on then

Usually when you see Unilocal reviews with such extremes of 5 stars and 1 stars, it seems like the 1 stars are just picky customers who can’t be pleased by anyone. That is not the case here…
Dr. Gershfeld was very nice and I found the staff to be nice as well. The Dr does smoke cigarettes which is pretty gross when that person has his fingers in your mouth and it’s so nasty you almost taste it. Ew. But that wasn’t my main problem here.
I was referred by a friend who only recently started going here. I went for the standard X-​ray and cleaning. They found a cavity… no biggie but didn’t have time to fill it same day. Ok not a problem, so I made a follow up appointment. I went in for the cavity fill and also had a chip tooth so Dr said confidently that he can fill the cavity and chipped tooth. I was charged for 2 cavity fills.
The next day I was traveling and had the same cavity pain in the cavity tooth so I chewed out of one side of my mouth the whole time. The fill in for the chipped tooth was gone this same day as well. I came back for another appointment for Dr to fix it and before he even looked at it, he arrogantly said the cavity tooth for sure needed to be filed down as that had to be the problem. That’s what he did… he also said he would file the chipped front tooth where the filler was and that would be that. Apparently if there is a problem, just file away!
After leaving the dentist, I got a sandwich and experienced the exact same pain in the cavity tooth. I also noticed later that the tooth he filed was not even with the other tooth next to it (I’m talking 2 front top teeth). It was just slightly off, but still off. It bothers me more by the day!
I have had 3 appointments, wasted bi yearly X-​ray thru my insurance, down $ 150, down 3 hours of time, and I’m worse off than when I walked in the first time.
Also my friend who referred me had to go in 4 times for him to fix 1 cavity.
If this guy can’t fix a simple cavity, I couldn’t imagine what a disaster it would be if there was a serious dental problem at hand. No thanks… I’m out!

This office is DISHONEST and does BAD business! I am a generally happy person and the last 2 months of weekly visits to try to fix the same problem has been a nightmare. I was bullied by the office manager and spent almost 3 grand on something that really may not even be fixed. I feel so beaten down by this office and my experience. I also got an ear and throat infection as part of a reaction from root canal (re-​treatment) and Dr. Gershfeld actually blamed it on me and my oral hygiene. So watch out guys if you don’t floss around your temporary… Your whole face may get infected.
I run my own business and respect other business owners. I DO NOT take writing a bad review lightly. However this office and the people who are serviced need to be made aware.
This was not ok and now I’m left with a half done root canal that he refuses to finish among other very questionable work that was done. This was by far the worst service experience of my life.

After trying several dentists in Hollywood, I’ve finally found the one who I will return to, and highly recommend to my friends. His front office staff is especially friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
First, I went in for a routine cleaning, which was fast, efficient and thorough. Dr. Gershfeld and his staff didn’t try to sell me products or services I didn’t want or need. I actually felt good about my personal dental care regimen and the results. The x-​rays revealed issues with two ancient fillings which needed replacement. I was aware of the problems before, but had deferred getting the work done, because I didn’t quite trust my previous dentist. Dr. Gershfeld clearly explained his recommended treatment, and at an after-​insurance cost of only $ 115, versus $ 680 from the previous dentist.
When I returned for the additional work, I was in and out quickly; Dr. Gershfeld explained the procedure thoroughly, and it was entirely painless. His personable and friendly manner helped me relax, which is usually difficult for me in a dentist chair with needles and drills lurking!
I am very pleased to have finally found an honest, top-​notch dentist who I’ll feel good about returning to, and recommend to my friends.

Dr. Gershfeld & his entire staff are absolutely amazing!
I had an accident with my two front teeth & another dentist did a poor job of fixing it. Dr. Gershfeld got me in super quick, gave me temporaries until my new veneers were ready, all completely painless & quick. The final veneers came out perfectly, & I couldn’t be happier with the results. The whole staff couldn’t be friendlier & more helpful.
Go see Dr. Gershfeld if you ever need any work done. You won’t regret it.

I came here for a checkup after… a very long time without seeing a dentist. The entire staff here is great. The office manager at the front desk was very kind and straightforward, I filled out a few forms and waited only a few minutes before being escorted into a room and speaking with a dental assistant. The assistants were very friendly and we chatted a lot, which helps the whole «dentist» ordeal feel less uncomfortable. They have free cable (and give you the remote!) while you wait in the chair.
For the Xrays, they used a digital device which is so much better than the old-​fashioned foam chunks with real film attached to them. Maybe this is the standard now, but I haven’t been to a dentist in years and the sharp film corners were not something I was excited for. The dental assistant was incredibly patient while I struggled to keep the Xray device in my mouth. He even gave me a tip (shift your jaw sideways! who knew?) to stop me from gagging on the device.
After the Xrays, Dr Gershfeld came in and spent some time poking around and doing normal checkup stuff. He analyzed the xrays with me, and was very patient and pointed out each area of concern from the xray in my mouth with a mirror.
After the checkup, the Dr gave me a summary and treatment plan. I think for a moment that I did see some dollar signs in his eyes as he began to list treatments (which I definitely do need) without hesitating — even «optional» treatments, such as invisalign, were rapidly listed as an overall treatment plan. Even after I explained that I was temporarily uninsured, I did feel like I was pulling teeth (haha) just to convince them that I wasn’t able to schedule another appointment just yet. I do also understand their desire to keep clients and schedule appointments — they are a business after all.
After my persistence, the dentist helped me determine that I could probably wait a month or two before coming back, while I waited for insurance to come through. The office manager came by with an organized list for all of the treatments suggested by the Dr, with prices listed very clearly next to each treatment. I asked the office manager for a copy of the treatment summary, which seemed to make her uncomfortable (maybe you’re not supposed to ask?) so I had to try to remember the approximate prices before I left. On my way out, the office manager gave me a few options for affording future treatment in the event that the insurance doesn’t come through, which I appreciated. I could tell she wanted me to receive the care I needed.
Definitely an excellent experience overall, just be sure to ask the right questions and get all of the information you need — I suppose this applies for any medical office! I will definitely be back for further treatment once I am able to do so!

Dr gershfeld and his staff are grade a been going to his practice for years and never been disappointed his staff is very polite and professional I recommend him to anyone looking for an awesome dentist and his new assistant CARLA IS AWESOME

what a great experience I had with DR Gershfeld. He is literally the best Dentist I have ever been to. He makes you so calm, great attitude, he did a fantastic job!!! I am so happy that I decided to go to him. The staff are so friendly and professional, they make you feel so comfortable. I will definitly go back.

Dr. Gershfeld is a godsend. After not visiting a dentist for over five years, I was sure my mouth was riddled with cavities and problems. I actually only went in because i had a wisdom tooth that was infected and needed immediate attention. Dr. Gershfeld made an appointment for me that day — squeezing me in. He fixed the problem without a hitch, and as painless as possible. He also filled a cavity for me a few months later and it was the easiest filling i’ve ever experienced. No pain whatsoever. I don’t have dental insurance, so I paid out of pocket for all of my services and I didn’t feel they were outrageously priced. I’ve read many reviews on here about people being charged ridiculous amounts for services — but I always ask in advance what the costs are associated with what i’m having done, and get a full price beforehand. If something needs to be added during the procedure, I still always ask before it’s done. Therefore there are no surprises when I get to the ‘checkout’ counter.

I have been deathly afraid of dentists since I was a kid. I use to put off going until I felt the sudden onset of halitosis. Now, i don’t have to wait any longer. Jk. I went to see Dr. Gershfeld as a referral and he and his staff were amazing. The girls at the front are super nice, the hygienist is very good at what she does, the dental assistant was very informative and Dr. Gershfeld is amazing. I felt zero pain and he worked on 4 teeth at once. Not the shot, drilling or filling. He explained everything he did as he did it and made sure I was comfortable through it all. The man is a dental magician. Thank you Dr. Gershfeld and team!

This is the second time I am posting this review. I was basically bribed by the office to take it down to get my medical records sent to another doctor.
The biggest issue with this office — and it’s a major one — is the TERRIBLE HORRIBLE NASTY PERNICIOUS BULLYING FRONT OFFICE. Her name is Anna, and just thinking about having to call her gives me hives.
Maybe the doctor is great for some people and their simple issues. Here is what happened when there was a complication:
I saw Dr. Gershfeld two years ago. He had a nice bedside manner, but made an error in my treatment. It may have been an honest mistake, but I ended up having to see two other doctors (who diagnosed the real problem quickly) and spending money to fix it. He finally repaid me some of the money, but not even half of it. Still, he might be a great dentist for most people.
What really bothered me was dealing with Anna. She was always, always stressful to handle, especially with pricing issues. I won’t even start on that.
But when there was a medical issue… the horror movie began. I wanted a minute on the phone with the doctor to talk about the error. She became a massive bully.
Her customer service involves constantly rudely interrupting, raising her voice until you have to raise your voice, and the worst: She has this crazy habit of recounting for you the events of your treatment history — not only with that dentist, but other dentists. She wasn’t there for any of it. Worse, she always tells the story wrong. The facts are completely wrong! She tells it to you her way to justify why she can’t help you. And you can’t speak! She is a wall of nasty sound, with this pretense of being helpful.
When you finally raise your voice to get in one word, she acts like a victim.
Also, when I told her I really preferred to discuss this with the dentist, whenever he had the time (especially as her facts were wrong), she started yelling at me that she used to work in the back and knew what she was talking about. Oy.
I let it go. I bad-​yelped and moved on.
Then I needed records for my insurance. I called. She puts me on hold for awhile and comes back with, «Well, we would like to help you, but if you remember you wrote this Unilocal review…»
Nevermind that her behavior here is questionably legal and definitely unethical. Those are my records!
I couldn’t handle any more Anna. I said, «I’ll take it down.»
I got my records. I’m currently seeing a total gem of a dentist with a dream office. He said I could repost now.

I’ve recently just finished up a deep cleaning on Friday. I am so happy with the results. My gums are pinker and my teeth whiter. I can say I’m no longer a 32 year old that’s afraid of the dentist (crying like a toddler.) I’m smiling a lot wider and proud of overcoming something that was holding me back!
In regards to some other complaints regarding pricing– I’m not out there doing dental work price comparisons so I don’t know how they stack up in regards to what they charge. There are some things I am willing to cheap out on but teeth, eyes, and other body parts– NO! My fees have always been told to me up front and were never different at the end. A painless dental experience is worth every penny to me.

I had a great experience with Dr. Gershfeld. I had two cavities filled which I had «let go» so they became quite deep.
Everyone in the office was very personable and helpful. The office is very clean which is always nice to see. Most importantly, Dr. Gershfeld did a wonderful job.
I was a little worried as he doesn’t use topical anesthesia. Despite that face, I was pleasantly surprised to find I couldn’t feel the needle at all.
The drilling and filling went very smoothly. I was warned that the tooth may be sensitive for a few weeks but didn’t experience that at all. I am very happy with the work I had done.
I will go back to him for all of my work as well as recommend him to anyone.
Five stars all the way.
