Scott Kubota, DDS

Today was my second visit to Dr. Kubota and I am very happy with this office’s work. I’ve been to many different dental offices and had many different procedures done over the years. Because of my experiences as a kid I am a bit of a dentist chicken and Dr. Kubota totally put me at ease. I had to get two fillings today. For the bottom one he was able to do it without any anesthesia and it was painless. For the top one he gave me a little shot to numb the area, but he is so good at giving the shot you hardly feel a thing! I read some people disliked the chit chat but I have to say I quite enjoyed Dr. Kubota talking as it took my mind off of the dental work being done and he is a funny guy. I also liked that he was playing music, anything to distract me from the drilling in my mouth is always welcome. I will definitely continue to go back to this office for my dental work and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good dentist in the area.

Need to write this one as a caution to those looking for a new dentist. This place will charge you for procedures they may or may not have actually done, and will not let you know before they start!
Went in for a check-​up as a new patient. Was able to easily get an appointment, and was assured they took my insurance and were in my network. I asked on the phone ow much most procedures cost, and she let me know since I was in network it would not cost much at all.
Went in, and saw the woman I talked to on the phone. She let me know one of her friends had my exact same insurance, and just came in. Awesome!
Everyone was nice enough, and I did get a good hygienist. She asked when my last dentist visit was, and wow, didn’t realize how long it had been! My bad! She said she would need some more time (we scheduled towards the end of the afternoon).
Had X-​rays taken, and Dr Kubota came in to say hello. He reminded me of the importance of coming in regularly. Got it. Left and scheduled for the return visit to complete the cleaning.
Again, I asked if this would cost more, and she said it was all part of the cleaning. Cool. Came back the next week, and second appointment went great.
A week later the bill comes and it’s several hundred dollars! And no, this wasn’t the explanation of benefits, this was the actual bill. I called in and asked what was going on. The secretary I spoke with suddenly had no idea who I was. Once she remembered, the new story was that she never said everything was covered, and reminded me how much I saved. When did «won’t cost much» mean a few hundred dollars? I also asked why seeing the doctor was included in the bill, and she reminded me that I did see the doctor. Yes, I saw him, he said hello, that’s it! I didn’t know how much that would cost!
What really gets me is that they charged me for a very major procedure that I’m pretty sure they didn’t do. I’ve spoken with many dentists, hygienists, and other dental workers, and they have all confirmed that my procedure sounded like a simple cleaning (albeit, requiring two sessions), and IF they really did plan to do such a major procedure, any ethical dental office would let me know that this procedure was not covered by my insurance and I would have to pay for it out of pocket.
I cannot recommend a place that sticks you for the bill on questionable procedures.

I have been coming to dr k for at least 15 years now. I was so frightened of dental work that I had not gone for many years. my parents had been coming to him for many years. well– long story short–
I now look forward to coming into the office. I have absolutely no fear for pain. the entire staff has been there for as long as I’ve been going. his work is wonderful!!!
I feel like the entire staff really cares and I feel as though they are friends.

Reasonably priced, no crazy upselling, a vibe of straightforward honesty. The waiting room was not, repeat, not, a zoo and the appointment time was honored without the usual long wait to get in. Parking is in the basement of the building and it is 100% validated for your visit.

Part of me doesn’t even want to write a review because that could mean I’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get an appointment. But really, bar none, the BEST dentist you could ever go to. He has a very comforting bedside manner and will never try to upsell you. He’s a chatterbox, but you’ll realize that’s part of him trying to get to know his staff and his patients better. I’ve been going consistently for a few years now and never have I felt rushed out the door. Referred me to an awesome oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal (all 4 at once!), and have had very pleasant experiences with teeth cleaning. Past dentists have done the same type of basic cleaning and charged me a «deep cleaning» fee (those scam artists). I’m due for some major dental work that will have some hefty out-​of-​pocket costs, but I trust Dr. Kubota and his staff. Extremely happy and satisfied, customer for life.
Oh, and free validated parking. What’s not to love.

Happy, curtious, caring, knowledgable staff working with a top notch highly experienced, highly educated dds who cares only about and for his patients. Prices are fair. Good location and validated self parking. Most of. all Dr. Scott is a true human being with great honesty. Myself and my family have been happy patients here for many years.

Dr. Scott has saved me on many occasions, including the time my jaw locked up and I had difficulty eating. On a fateful day when I was an emergency case, he tested a tooth, which had gone dead as a doornail. He gave me four consecutive shots of Novacaine – noting that he’s only given five shots once… upshot: he yanked the tooth and I could eat again!
Like a lot of Angelenos, I’ve moved around a fair amount, but no matter where I’m settled in the past 23years, it’s not too far to go to Doc Kubota (I’m now in Ventura County). He’s a great professional as is his superior staff.

I have been going to Dr. Kubota since moving to LA. I gave him a try on a personal recommendation.
GREAT dentist office. Here’s why:
1) Friendly & thorough hygienists. They always seem to remember me and other patients. :)
2) Timely. Appointments aren’t impossible to make and when you get there, you aren’t kept waiting.
3) Dr. Kubota himself is nice, funny, and honest. He doesn’t try to push unnecessary dental work, Invisalign, too many x-​rays, etc. (Lots of dentists I’ve been to do!)
4) Nice supporting office staff and clean offices.
5) Validated underground parking. In Westwood. Need I say more? :)
Go to Dr. Kubota. You’ll be glad you gave him a try.

This has been my dentist for many years. The entire office is filled with joyous laughter at all times, they do a great job, and I’m in & out in about 45 minute each time. My only issue is they talk SO much during the entire appointment… My last appointment was a dream come true … Little chit chat… I want her to clean my teeth every single time.

I have been coming to Dr. Kubota for over 20 years. He is a wonderful Dentist. No pain!!! His staff is amazing as well.
The BEST DENTIST ever!!!

Fantastic Dentist! Wonderful bedside manner, makes you feel very comfortable and is there for your health, not to upsell you on things you don’t need. Completely trust him, and very fair and decent prices. Lucky I found what must be one of the best dentists in all of LA!

Dr. Kubota is good old fashioned doctoring. He’s not going to upsell you. He doesn’t perform work to line his own pocket. I know, in the past 3 years I’ve been to 3 different dentists. ALL were selling me from the time I walked through the door. I had expensive work done that didn’t need to be. It is refreshing to find an honest dentist. He has a great sense of humor & makes a visit more like seeing an old friend. I trust him implicitly.

Dr. Kubota and his staff are friendly, professional, and compassionate towards our pain. Although, I experienced ZERO pain due to Dr. K’s gentle handling (his comical sense of humor is a bonus), and his all-​female staff are sweet, personable and go above and beyond when it comes to your needs and questions. Do keep in mind that Dr. K is in high demand, so you might have to wait a week or two for your appt (it’s worth it), unless you have an emergency sitch going on.

I love this dentist office! I always feel I’m in a small town when I’m in there because all the staff is very friendly and they really care about you so much that they feel like family. I’ve only been there like 3 times. They’re very gentle and answered all the many questions I had about my teeth and dental insurance.
They’re also very honest, which I certainly appreciate. I came here because a dentist in Glendale said I needed a deep cleaning ($ 900) — ouch! — and wanted a second opinion. The hygienist and doctor/​dentist both looked at my teeth and said that I did need a cleaning, but not a deep cleaning. My bill ended up being $ 90 instead of $ 900! One of the hygienist talked to me about how a lot of dentists just want to scam you like car sales men. I had no idea. I’m so glad I went to this dentist because it saved me loads of money!
I’m totally sold on this dentist and as long as I live in L.A., this is the place I’m going to.
{and as for the person who gave them 1 star because he couldn’t get an appointment for months, that doesn’t mean they don’t offer good service. Rather, they’re so good they’re successful enough to be so booked. I always see this as a good sign anyway, because if they weren’t good they would have openings the next day repeatedly.}

Pricing is reasonable, I pay $ 90 for teeth cleaning.

Dr and hygienists are very generous and complaint with painkiller requests when having work done.
Seldom is there much pain at all.
Biggest con here is it can be hard getting an appointment soon.
I have to book appointment weeks ahead, if not longer.

I’ve been visiting Dr Kubota for years now, usually for teeth cleaning and some minor work like fillings. The place is pretty consistent. I can always expect the same level of professionalism here with every visit, the last being in May 2011.
Dr Kubota does a thorough job of diagnosing the problems & condition of your teeth. The Dr and his staff has always been friendly and courteous. Never have they come across as rude or condescending. Yes, he nags about flossing, but what dentist does not?
What I enjoy most is the low levels of pain and discomfort in the teeth cleaning and other basic work I’ve done here. A gel-​like painkiller is used liberally to the point where I barely feel a thing!
Appointments can be hard to come up with, so be advised to book early. Ive almost always have had to book at least 2 weeks ahead. IMO, his consistent popularity justifies a long due expansion.
Parking is free in the building lot, with validation.

Hygienists are quick, thorough, and very friendly.
Dr Kubota himself is very fast, explains what he’s doing as he works on your teeth, is a good conversationalist, and very experienced.
They pay for your parking! Just park in the underground lot and the receptionist will validate your parking for you.
And they recently earned a 5-​star rating SOLID in my eyes after this happened…
I got 3 fillings in an appointment, it took about half an hour. That’s fast if you ask me. One of the fillings was particularly tricky (I had a cracked tooth and a filling was the difficult but more conservative solution), but Dr Kubota got it done. Later, I found out my insurance company didn’t cover white fillings in the back teeth, and I got charged extra. A few easy and painless phone calls later, the assistants in the office apologized for the miscommunication (I should have been given a choice for silver/​white in my back since my insurance didn’t cover it) and credited me the difference. In my opinion, that’s very ethical and a very solid «the customer comes first» mindset.

Absolutely the best. They don’t sell BS you don’t need. I have been going to Scott Kubota for over 15 years. Nice people and good staff plus they pay for your parking. I have not had one problem!
